The hotel staff was very nice and all spoke English. The rooms were really small, but apparently that's what you get in Paris. The price was great, relative to other places, but still expensive...it's Paris! AMAZING bakeries (two of them!) are within a 30 second walk from the hotel which made breakfast a great experience. Best croissants EVER!

The staff were very helpful and friendly. The room was not what I would consider 3star...more like a 2star hotel. The bed was hard and low to floor. The day that I was to checkout, I took a walk and came back about 30 minutes before checkout and the maid was already cleaning my room with my stuff still in the room...I did not like that! Trying to arrange shuttle service from airport to hotel was very difficult...finally had to get Venere.com involved. The front deskclerk also followed up to ensure that I at least knew where the shuttle was to pick me up at the airport. The shuttle that the hotel uses to pick up guest from the airport was 2.5 hrs late because of traffic. And the driver took me to the wrong hotel at first. Maybe the hotel should look into getting another service. I arrived at the airport around 7AM and got to my hotel 5 hrs later because of the above issues. The hotel is most convenient and in a great location...just need to upgrade their rooms to be a 3star hotel.

Great location 2 blocks from subway and Rue Cler area. Short walk to Eifel Tower and Seine River. Ask for a quiet room. My only complaint is that the shower had low water pressure and difficult to have a hot shower. The staff was friendly and helpful. The price was good. I would come back.

Hotel is in a fantastic location near the Eiffel Tower. There is an excellent Boulangerie just down the street with the greatest almond croissants. There is a fruit & vegetable store a few doors down & many great areas are walking distance.

Upon check in the desk staff member was professional, but I would not say outwardly friendly. He gave us our key and told us the floor but did not mention there was an elevator so my poor boyfriend carried our 2 heavy suitcases up 3 flights of stairs to only at our room discover that there was a lift. The room was small, but that did not bother us as when you are in Paris you have many better things to do than sit in a hotel room. There is a bakery at the end of the alley that has the BEST breakfast! We spent each night with a bottle of wine laying in the grass looking up at the Eiffel Tower (approx 5-10 min walk). Upon check out the young lady desk worker gave us very good directions on how to get to the subway station and which trains to take. Overall, it was a good hotel but expect no frils.

The Hotel De l'Alma was good for our tourist needs and good for the price. Staff was always helpful and friendly. Breakfast was better than others stated. Good family-owned restaurant around the corner, 1-1/2 blocks, toward the Eiffel Tower. Elevator broke the last day as we were carrying out our luggage. Otherwise, a very good hotel we would go to again.

I will say that the location is the BEST part of this hotel! I found the hotel itself to not be a 3-STAR as stated. I stay in many 3-STAR and above hotels and this is not. There were not clocks in the rooms, hair dryers, very dark hallways and stairways. However, it is a European hotel and and I knew the rooms would be small (which mine was) but that was ok. For the price I did not expect to much. So, it was a fine place to stay a nite, maybe two. I would not want to stay to long. The location is very nice. The reception at front desk was moderate. They did help me arrange transportation to the airport. Which was very helpful and more affordable than a taxi! So, If I were to go back, I would probably pay a little more and stay somewhere else.

A wonderful, small hotel in the Rue Cler district. Very close to everything. The room was simple, small but adequate. It was on a quiet street and sleeping was not a problem (though I was there in winter). The 5 flight walk up may be a problem for some, though rooms on lower floors may be available.

Hotel was a bit difficult to find. Not as close to the eiffel as I imagined, but within walking distance. Cute shuttered windows with windowboxes that open onto street. Older hotel, but had character. Our stay was OK, not great, but a good price for Paris. Hotel staff could understand English - but not very fluent! Double bed was 2 twins pushed together!

We chose the hotel because of its location and in that sense it worked out well. It is an old somewhat run-down property in an area where space comes at a premium. There is plenty of restaurants nearby and easy access to a lot of sights by foot.

The hotel has a great location, 2 blocks from the Eiffel Tower. The rooms are quite a nice size, the bathroom had a bath and shower in the bath. The rooms are quite old fashioned but comfortable... The staff are not all that friendly but we were in France!! :) Overall the hotel was pleasant.

Staff at the lobby plays friendliness, but you don't feel welcome. Breakfast is of minor quality but acceptable for the low price, and service at breakfast is poor und not welcoming. Positive is the quiet place, and the price is competitive. So just to sleep it is good enough.

Nothing wrong to say about this hotel. Very well situated not far from an ratp station, from Eifel tower and from many other Paris highlights. The staff is very kind, and available 24/24! Our room was quite comfortable and quiet, as I had asked -if possible- when booking.

Wow, okay where do i start!! if you have never been to paris before, then look no further, this is the place to stay!! its situated 2 blocks from the eiffel tower and is located in the area that you definitely want to stay. The streets are clean, its romantic, its the nice part of paris. no sketchy people, no smell of urine, no beggars, no thieves etc. just beautiful paris. the staff of htoel de'l alma are warm and helpful and stay out of your business. the rooms are a little smaller than normal but you get what you pay for. our room had a very clean, modern bathroom and a window which had beautiful views. the hotel is located in a quiet lane, there are no clubs or bars around so you will get a good nights sleep. we were able to get a really good deal through venere and were very happy for what we paid for. We had friends who stayed in another part of paris and were afraid to leave their hotel and when they came to our hotel were very happy with hotel de'l alma. strongly suggest this place for people who want dont want to spend a fortune, but would like to be in a nice part of paris!!

My first time in Paris and with Hotel De l'Alma inmidst of real PAris, wonderfully located in a sidestreet to rue grenelles, the bus round the corner, the sites and metro 5 minutes away. the personal was very friendly and helpful. I did not have breakfast in the hotel, but there are many nice cafes just round the corner! My room was to the street, of course I heard some noises, but the view outside the window to the parisien surrounding was very nice. I took a twin as a single traveller, and the room was then big enough for me, the bathroom was anyway not small. conclusion: fine location, pricerelationship totally ok, I can recommend it.

The room was small but perfectly adequate for a short stay in Paris. It would be too small for a longer stay as there is very little/no space for luggage. A hairdryer should have been provided but wasn't. The location of the hotel is excellent! Very central, some rooms have view onto Eiffel Tower; at the same time it was quiet and peaceful.Staff was professional and polite. There is a lovely little Italian Restaurant around the corner on Avenue Bosquet called tina's; excellent food and good service. And very reasonably priced.

I´d a trouble while I was staying in this hotel. I'd sunglasses wich were bought during my travel and it was robbed into the hotel. The manager and hotel's staff didn´t help me to find a solution and so I went to the Paris Police in order to make an ocurrence. Even so, still today the hotel didn´t give me any solution for my case. I didn´t recomment a hotel where you can´t let your stuff inside the room without any safety.

This hotel is located in one of my favorite neighborhoods in Paris. It was a great room for the price. The bathroom was huge compared to most of the bathrooms in Paris and the room was pretty spacious as well. The staff was very nice and helpful. The website boasts a view of the Eiffel Tower from some rooms, but I have never been in a room with such a view. Still, my boyfriend and I had a nice stay in this room and would stay here again on our next trip to Paris

Considering the location in Paris, this hotel was excellent value. With easy walking distance to the Eiffel Tower we were able to set out for the sights without to much effort. I would recommend this hotel to anyone on a short stay who wants to be central. Staff were very helpful, rooms were tidy and there wasn't a lot of noise from the streets in the morning. We had a very pleasant experience. Thankyou Hotel De l'Alma

Great staff and terrific area, with a slightly different, "real" feel when compared to the more tourist-centered places to stay. Rooms were tight, but that's par for the course, and the walls were a bit thin, but good restaurants and cafes nearby, a British pub was close, and a terrific shopping street a few blocks away. The subway was close, but you had to make a change to get to any of the more popular areas.

I am confident that there are thousands of better hotels to stay at in Paris that this one! I have been to Paris three times and stayed at a variety of hotels in Paris varying from hostels to one and two star hotels. THIS HOTEL IS BY FAR THE WORST HOTEL I have had to stay at, no question. I was afraid for my life in the elevator and the doors opened to absolute darkness where I had to feel around for doors and light switches while my eyes adjusted to the low light. Thankfully I did not stumble to close to the open staircase right next to the elevator... In true Parisian style I was not warned of this or I would have taken the stairs. The entire hotel including the room had a very strong cigarette smell mixed with what I can only hope to be a cheap cleaner. The bed was uncomfortable. I felt dirtier coming out of the shower than going in. There was no clock in the room and the so called automated alarm system you are supposed to program with the phone did not work so I had to argue with the fellow at the front desk for a wake up call in the morning so I could make it to work on time. The two night guys were absolutly the rudest people I have met in Paris and the manager only worked from 9:00 to 15:00 so there was no option for money back or canceling my reservation for the second night since I had to work. This place is not even a half star hotel but advertises 3 stars. The St. Christopher's Paris hostel N.E. of Gare du Nord station which I stayed at later in the week was a luxery palace in comparison to Hotel De l'Alma!

There is little correspondence between photographs and reality. The hotel is old and shabby. The rooms (single, double and common areas) are really small up to the extent that you cannot comfortably seat on the toilet and three people cannot have breakfast together in the breakfast room. The breakfast is too simple and disorganised. The bedroom was extremely noisy the first night. Although the problem was fortunately solved (otherwise we would have seriously considered looking for another hotel)still some noise remained. Thus, never again.

Great location, but the rooms were awful. Rubber ceilings, no space to swing a cat, and the safe would not work. When I asked reception to either show me how to use the safe or get it fixed i was told that he wasn;t allowed to take his bum off the comfy seat behind reception! 3 star??? You're havin a laugh

The only thing I would recommend is the location. I stayed for one night for a business trip stopover to Barcelona. Since my intention was to do a quick sightseeing, the location was excellent. What a great hotel! Locationwise, we couldn't have asked for better. Fairly close to Ecole Militaire metro, and only a couple of blocks from the Eiffel Tower and the Seine. There were some great little restaurants nearby (and reasonably priced if you don't go to the ones on the tourist trail). At the end of the street is a great patisierie (sp?) where we breakfasted each morning. The room was comfortable and was well maintained. Only challenge was there was only one English channel on the television (CNN), but as we didn't spend much time in the room that was a minor problem. The staff were very friendly and helpful. All in all a great experience for us.

The room was absolutely tiny (which was what I was expecting, I guess.) It was really difficult to open or lock our door, as the handle of our door was in horrible condition; I couldn't get the key out and had to get someone to help me! Hotel staff gave us incorrect and unhelpful information. (For anyone's future reference, there is no longer a consigne (left luggage) at Gare de L'est!) The location, however, was brilliant. I loved the neighbourhood we were in, even if the beds were exceptionally uncomfortable. Next time I would try another hotel in the same area, I think.

This is a small and cute hotel in the heart of Paris. It is situated on a very quiet street close to different shops and bakery stores. It is 5 minutes away from the Eiffel and depending on the angle of the room, you may even have a view of the tower from your room. It is a few minutes walking from the Eiffel, the river and a metro station. All other main attractions in Paris are only 2-3 station away on the metro. The hotel staff is very nice and friendly. I recommend this hotel, and I will stay there again upon my return to Paris.

Terrible! For starters, be careful of the elevator. It sinks when you step into it with your baggage. This place was terrible! No A/C but be careful of opening the windows because the bats might fly in from the courtyard. Safe doesn't work. Shower nozzle and base broken. Gaudy color scheme of bright orange and red for the room colors. No space to move around in the room. Saggy bed. Housekeeping likes to walk in on you without knocking. Toilet difficult to use because of its orientation with the wall. Bring your own toilet paper; unless you'd like to use little pieces of pink kleenex provided. The only thing this place has going for it would be the close location to Eiffel Tower and cafe. Great room if you just need to crash, and don't care about comfort.

We booked 2 rooms...one for my wife and I and one for my parents. We stayed 4 nights. The location is excellent...easy walking distance to the Eiffel Tower, the Seine, Rue Cler shopping, and many resturants. We had two complaints. Firstly we felt that the rooms, particulary the bathrooms, were not cleaned as thoroughly as they should have been. Secondly, we had a fairly bizzare incident that proved, without a doubt, that someone was going thru our belongings while we were out. Let me describe what happened: One of my parent's suitcases had a small lock on it to which they haven't had a key for years. It is attached to one side of a zipper and when the zipper is closed it appears, at first glance, to be locked. One day when they returned to their room the suitcase was actually locked!! Someone had opened the lock, assuming that the suitcase itself was locked, presumably examined the contents of the suitcase, then relocked the suitcase!! My father took the suitcase down to the front desk and explained what happened. They simply shrugged their shoulders and offered to cut the lock off for him. Nothing was taken, as all of our valuables were in the room safe, but there's obviously a security problem and that makes us reluctant to recommend this hotel to others.

Elevator in the hotel was broken so we did need to climb 5 flights of steps. However, generally it was a perfectly good hotel, great location and excellent value.
