I stayed 4 days with my grandson. I was first time in Paris. Although the hotel is very small, the room itself was not small, clean.

good hotel, very nice and central area close to opera and louvre
United Kingdom, Mar 2008
I booked a twin room for 2 nights followed by a triple room for two nights at Hotel Daunou Opera. Unfortunately when my sister and I arrived, we were asked to book into a hotel across the road (hotel choiseau) which was very noisy and not very nicely decorated. 2 days later, when my other sister arrived we were finally able to stay in the hotel we had actually reserved. The triple room was nicely decorated and not bad space wise for a central Parisian hotel. It was also clean, however the shower head fell off during use and the air con did not work properly. The location was excellent and overall the hotel daunou was reasonable value for money but the alternative hotel we were placed in for the 1st 2 nights of our stay was not and this was a most disappointing way to begin our trip.

I chose Daunou Opera because of the photos and location. While inside the room, I can hear the sound of doors being closed quite loudly, so the door does not insulate sound. The luggage hold area is not manned by anyone, so guest leave their luggage at their own risk with no identification usually from other hotels, at least a room number tag. Quality of breakfast for Euro12 is nothing to brag about.

Fantastic location, provides an excellent functional service. Staff helpful (very). Only one thing- until you get your bearings, the timed light switches in hall areas outside lifts and rooms are a bit unsettling- not nice to arrive in darkness even if only temporary. Otherwise, great value in a graet location.

Location is quite good, really convenient. Our room faced the street, therefore during the night we had to listen noises from bars or nightclubs close to the hotel. Cleanup of rooms were completed so late around 5 PM. Just to stay is not so bad, but cannot reccomend for mature people.

Nice hotel, good location. Room was a triple, large, comfortable, clean. The hotel is repainting several floors, and is doing some light repairs. The hotel is located near some bars and restaurants. We enjoyed our stay there and would recomend it for the price and the location.

The location of the hotel is good but the map is dificult to show how to get there. The staff is nice and helpful. However, the room is a bit different from the picture on the website. I think the picture may took 5 years ago and the acture room is a bit worn out by time. Anyway the room is still consider clean. The biggest problem is the bathroom, which is very very old and the bathtub has no shower curtain therefore hard to take a shower. They sure need to re-modern the bathroom immediately. Also there are a lot of noise from room next to us & the walkway. The good thing is that they offer FREE high speed internet in the room. I paid Euro150 for a triple room, it's a bit over priced with old facilities like this.

Well renovated room, super clean and well decorated, not large but very adequate for a couple, great value for the cost. Hallways, carpets and paintwork obviously needs renovating, but assume in progress. Wonderful receptionist, helpful and well spoken English. Super Pasta resataurant next door, large portions 1 enough for 2 at very reasonable price. Very close to Metro and Openbus tours, walking distace to L'Ouvre. Shuttle to airport, small cost. Excellent value

Characteristics are not as for an average *** in Paris, perhaps more suitably it is a **S, but price is right, and position is excellent.

What a great stay. We were a block and a half from the metro station and a few blocks from the Louvre. The staff was always helpful with directions, securing a taxi, and any information. The hotel is older (as to be expected in this area) but clean and a great value.

Since this hotel is located near Opera, it is closed to airport bus station and easy to go anywhere by subway. Female receptionist is very kind and speak English very well. She was willing to reserve the event in Paris and informed us of good restaurants and visits including directions.

We arrived at noon and the room wasn't ready, we left our luggage and returned at 7pm. Room 309 was not what I imagined for a mid-range budget hotel. Wallpaper peeling off the walls, damp, condensation so bad you couldn't see out of the windows. It smelt of smoke. Not exactly what I expected for a romantic weekend in Paris. When I asked for another room I was told there weren't any, that we were late checking in, that was the only room left. After a few minutes I was told there was a single room, we moved room. Had I been given this room on arrival I would have been happy and probably given the hotel a better recommendation. On checking in we were told breakfast was included. On checking out we were charged €10 each! I had given the receptionist 2 complimentary tickets to Eurodisney which we were using - thinking we may have a nice room when we checked in later!! Silly me. Great location, but wouldn't go back, wouldn't recommend to friends.

My partner and I stayed for three nights the weekend before Christmas. We found the hotel to be very well placed - 2 minute walk from the Roissybus (from Charles de Gaulle)and very well situated for local amenities such as bars, cafes, restaurants etc. In fact there is a great Italian restaurant next door, quite cheap and large portions! Also check out cafe de Paul (a chain of them) - a great choice for breakfast if coffee and pastry is your thing! The hotel is well situated for the main Paris attractions, for example the Louvre is only 10 minutes walk away. If you don't want to walk there is a metro station round the corner. We ate out for breakfast every day as it was cheaper than the quoted price (and extra to the quoted price on the website), which is 10 euros per person per day. The hotel, for the money, was very good value. The rooms are clean (even the bathroom), quite spacious but who cares about space when there's the whole of Paris to explore??!! The only drawback was the sound insulation between rooms - we had a noisy neighbour who enjoyed watching the TV into the early hours of the morning. A few bangs on the wall soon sorted him/her out though! The hotel staff are very friendly, all speaking good English. Overall, a thoroughly enjoyable stay and we would return to this hotel as it is easy to get to from the airport (or by Metro from Gare du Nord/L'est), very good value and very well located.

The room had an awful damp smell. This was pointed out to reception on the first day, but we were informed there were no other rooms and our best option would be to ask the next day. We didn't bother as we were there to have a vacation, not do a house-move.

The price and location of the hotel was excellent and the staff were most welcoming. However: 1. Coffee in the breakfast room came from a machine.....the coffee was NOT hot. 2. The bathroom plumbing drains need cleaning. The water from the bathroom sink backed up into the bathtub drain.
