The Coypel Hotel features well-equipped, roomy accommodations, including free wireless in-room Internet access, at a very reasonable price. Staying there means both enjoying your holiday and respecting a tight budget: the area around the hotel is actually full of nice cafés and good inexpensive restaurants. No need to sacrifice comfort nor fun.

We stayed in a double room facing the street behind the hotel entrance and the avenue. The only minor downside I have found was the fact the window, though double-glazed, wasn't quite tight at the bottom, so I'd recommend light sleepers to make sure they have earplugs. The hotel was otherwise very quiet, and the breakfast is very good (fresh croissants and small rustic country rolls, good butter and jam). It can be brought up to your room.

Thought this hotel was just as described. I imagine that it could be noisy in the summer months if you wanted the window open. We stayed 4 nights, bedding was changed after 2nd night. Bedroom had 3 full size beds, a little small but what I would expect in Paris for this price. A chair and drink making things would have been nice. The staff were great, always looking happy. The breakfast was just ok, had better but also had much worse. The area around hotel is quite good for shopping and resturants. We would use again, but not in summer months.

Hotel can be recommended. There are several possibilities to reach downtown Paris (metro and bus lines). Rooms are clean and safe, stuff is friendly and speaks English, some even German. Street is noisy, but not too much, if you close the window. Near the hotel are many possibilities for shopping (a mall) and eating.

After staying in a hostel in London, it was so nice to go to Hotel Coypel and have a room to myself. It had everything I was after - comfy bed, clean bathrooms, English speaking staff (thankfully! my French is terrible!), tasty breakfast, close to a good metro line and fast, free wi-fi in the room. I was very happy with my time there and would stay there again. I don't really require all the fuss of a more highly-starred hotel, and Coypel was just simple and comfortable.

Good location - Place d'Italie is quite 'happening' v busy into the night felt very safe as a single female travelling back to the hotel on the metro late at night. Lots of places to eat. The front of the hotel faces towards the main road but set well back - my room was at the back and really quiet. The biggest drawback was it seems that the hotel is built directly above a metro line as the whole building vibrates about every 10 mins and you hear a very low rumbling sound. However this in no way stopped me from sleeping, it only annoyed me when I was awake. I was on the top floor, I can only imagine it's worse lower down. I had a single room; I had not realised that it did not have its own toilet; I guess that's why it was a 'special offer' room but I do usually make sure to read the small print and don't know why I didn't realise. It wasn't a problem for me, but if I'd known I might have thought twice about the room. Charmingly decorated, small but that really didn't matter at all.

I would not recommend it to anybody: 2*2 metres rooms. If at the 6th floor, you won't be able to sleep due to the very strong noise of the hot water system. They know the problem but they don't care. Who, like us, is assigned there, has to complain a lot to have another room (if available). Managers and staff are very rude. They never greet. They didn't give us any information or help; some might say it's close to the metro, but it couldn't be different. There's a metro station everywhere in Paris and every zone has its cafè and boulangerie.

The hotel is really well situated near metro stops. The shower was a bit small so the room got wet but this wasn't a real problem. It was clean although sometimes the smell of bleach was overpowering. The staff weren't very welcoming and there were LOTS of stairs. Overall the quality for the price was excellent and I would definitely stay here again.

This was quite a nice hotel, the room was clean but the shower cubicle was very small and the grouting needed cleaned. The hotel staff were helpful but the breakfast was very basic, not even a bit of cheese with the croissant and the bread roll which some mornings were so hard they were uneatable. We got this booking as a special offer through Venere.com, I would not have liked to pay the prices displayed at the desk!

Very close to the Metro so, it's easy to travel around by underground. it's very clean but the bathroom is a bit small. I think it's a good hotel but it's a bit expensive compare to the quality of the room.

Our room was small, but no more than expected for a hotel at this price. We had a pretty balcony window, a small but adequate bathroom, and a flat-screen TV. The room and rest of the hotel were very clean and well-kept. The staff was helpful and always available. The location was away from the popular monuments and tourist areas, which we liked because we could experience a "regular" Parisian neighborhood. Nearby Avenue Gobelins had restaurants, shops, and a movie theater, and a major Metro stop is steps away. Noise was no issue at all, but we were there in March, with the windows closed. All in all we were extremely pleased with our hotel, especially considering the price. I am still amazed at how little we had to pay for six nights in Paris. We went for a tourist visit, and all the sights we visited were just a Metro ride away. I will stay there again next time I go to Paris.

The overall impression is very good. Just a suggestion for the petit-déjeuner: for the same price you pay in the hotel (€ 7) you can even pay less (€ 5,50 in a boulangerie) and have breakfast in the nearby with fresh orange juice and jam on the tartine.

The hotel has been refreshed, most rooms have a reasonable size for Paris, the bathroom was rather large and comfortable as well, with a large window over the street. My room had a nice and large balcony. The breakfast room is minimal (actually it corresponds to the lobby...) but can can have breakfast in your room without extra charge. So I would recommend this. The hotel is at the corner of two streets, and on a busy boulevard. So noise can be a problem without ear plugs. Room walls are thin as well, so you may have noise from neighbours. That was the only main drawback.

It was perfect, big, quiet and clean room with window, table, tv, shelf, big bathroom with hair dryer, shampoo, soap, towel, that they changed them every day, very good position in placa italia, 3 metro station lines 5,6, and 7 that you can go every part of paris easily, you have MacDonald and KFC, and resturant near hotel, we had a double room with breakfast, that breakfast was really more than enough, cookie, tea, coffee, milk, orange juice, jam, butter, bread, ...If I come back paris I certainley go to coypel and I recommend it to all.

Previous reviews helped. Nice area, just of a big open square (Place d'Italie) good for metro and airport trains. Big police station opposite hotel so felt safe. Room was big enough and bathroom looked to be just renovated so all clean and nice. Shower good but only had room temp hot water one morning. we had a little balcony and two rooms had french windows that opened, so good ventilation. Main road that room overlooked was busy, so some noise, but heh this is a city!! Staff were very accomadating and the one concierge that we met on first night was great. He gave us tips on local knowledge that saved both time and money. Would reccomend as good value and would go back again.

It has the basic for a hostel. We were in the summer with very hot weather. It was imposible to sleep with the window closed because of the heat, and if we open the window there were a lot of noise from the street. Close to metro station and to a comercial center.

People at reception were truly wonderful and helpful, and all the staff spoke english. But the looks of lobby, corridor was rather sad and bathroom was very very small, I imagine bigger person would not be able to use the toilet there. Also it is a little too far from city centre, it was our first time in Paris and we did not realise how far it really was. But I guess it is a matter of taste, and it is perhaps more important to have such nice service as they provided.

This this a very good hotel...it is not very expensive, just two stars but their is lift, free wifi, breakfast in the room(no room charge). the rooms are very clean, the rooms are quiet, well isolated from the noice out side. breackfast nice, with quality. hotel near the subway 5,6,7 so from paris city center in 15/20min (tour eifeil, champs elysee, louvre, train stations and airport shuttles). in the chinese quarter so quiet place. No trouble. i enjoyed the stay.

The hotel was much more like the other commentaries describe it. The corridors are very tiny, the lift – also, but they are exactly what you need. The rooms are small, but with television (with French programs), small balconies and tiny bathrooms. The place under the shower is really made for thin people! The towels are replaced every day, the bad linen – every 2 days. The staff is nice. We had no problems with the payment for the rooms that we have reserved. I have no impression from the breakfast because we haven’t eaten at the hotel. But the room provided for the breakfast is really small (just 3 small tables)!!! The hotel is really near to the metro station Place d’Italie. It is very easy to find it by the description that you will receive after the reservation. There are many buses that pass through this area and you can discover Paris by bus too (the metro is faster, but buses are really comfortable and you can reach every part from the town with them). Just opposite the hotel you have a police station so the place is very quiet, save and lightened. There are a lot of restaurants, cafeterias and bars in this area. Just round the corner there is boulangerie with sweet things for breakfast. Two blocks away there is supermarket Franprix. Just as an example, in the bar where we had breakfast every morning, the coffee was 1 euro and the croissant (hot and delicious!) was 1, 20 euro.

This was our second time to Paris but the first time we visited not part of a group tour. Due to this we had to book our hotel ourselves and we were very happy with this hotel. This hotel is very close to the metro so it made it easy to travel to all the sights in the city. I believe we stayed in one of the larger rooms in the hotel but it was still rather small but it was clean and severed its purpose well. The staff were very friendly and helpful. I would stay here again the price was very reasonable.

The hotel is in a nice location and the quality/price ratio is good. The employees are kind and the rooms are clean. The only weak point is that there are no common spaces, and in particular the space for breakfast is quite limited. This is not a major point and I would recommend the hotel anyway.

In what other two star hotel can you open the bathroom door onto your own balcony and enjoy a view of Paris whilst you have a shower? The bedroom was quite small but the bathroom was large. There were few extra facilities such as tea-making but that's what you get with two stars. The hotel was clean, well run with most obliging and helpful staff and provided a good breakfast (included!). A pleasant neighbourhod with easy access to buses and the Metro. We will be back!

The breakfast would have been basic but OK (nice coffee, orange juice, jam & breads)EXCEPT that we were told 2 days in a row they had run out of croissants. We realised later on that there was a tiny sign in French only asking you to order your breakfast the night before - which is tedious when you have already PAID for it - and we were not told this at reception on arrival. On the Sunday we were given 2 hard rolls instead but one couple were turned away altogether. Otherwise, good location, comfortable bed, clean towels, bathroom OK but not spotless.

One of the better hotels I stayed at in Paris. Very close to Place d'Italie (subway lines 5, 6 and 7). Quiet neighborhood. Close to Chinatown with many oriental restaurants nearby. Not very close to Paris attractions but subway makes life easy. Room was fairly big (bigger than the Paris standard). Bathroom was almost as big as the room itself. Clean building. Noise insulation was okay. Elevator small as usual. Employees were helpful and friendly. Few satellite channels available, BBC World being the sole English one. Breakfast included in the price, which is uncommon for Paris. The breakfast room however is in the lobby and a tad cramped. All in all a neat little place okay to stay at.

We enjoyed our stay at Hotel Coypel. The room was clean and the space accomodated the three of us well. PROS - free wifi, free breakfast in the morning, nearby metro/buses at Place de Italie, Franprixe grocery 2 min. walk away, restaurants 3-5 min. walk, about 6-10 min walk from Chinatown, reception staff very friendly! CONS - no a/c - good thing we were there in chilly weather, noise is audible in rooms that are facing elevator and stairs, rooms facing the main street above restaurant are susceptible to noise and smoke coming frm the patrons below. Overall, the PROS overweigh the cons. We would stay at this hotel again... Great price, very affordable for the budget-minded!
