Hotel Corail - Paris

Prior to arriving I had requested an extra occupant for one night by email for our first night. Upon arriving the hotel had no record of the email despite my confirmation and would not allow us an extra occupant even to sleep on the floor. We were forced to pay for an additional room. From there things got worse: - The room we booked was INCREDIBLY SMALL (not even room for the luggage) - We were asked to show our room key on exit and arrival which was annoying as two of the reception staff did NOT SPEAK ENGLISH and we felt like we were being a little harassed. - the shower did not get hot even after running while cleaning teeth - it was noisy and street noise kept us up as did other hotel guests as there was little sound proofing

Very basic.

Clean and comfortable with pleasant staff. Our room was at the side so not too noisy, though traffic can be heard when window open. Very convenient for Gare du Lyon.

3 stars is overquoted. It's rather 1 or 2 stars. The hotel would need to be 'refreshed'

A poor breakfast.

This hotel was very conveniently located near Gare du Lyon but most of all, the staff were excellent - friendly, provided assistance and advise when requested, and very happy to speak English (which meant I didn't get to practice my French very much!). The rooms are small-ish but that is quite typical in many European countries. I would certainly recommend it.

Fine for a short stay - location is good with fast train/metro connections from Gare de Lyon. Still an intermittent problem with lift.

The room was too small, and stuffy. The lift was partly out of order (a member of the staff kindly walked upstairs to fetch it because the call button on the ground floor didn't work). The price is too high for such amenities.
