This Hotel is very overpriced. My sons room was like a broom cupboard!! It is an okay hotel but costs way to much. My sister had a much better one for a lot less money.

The hotel is not bad but it lacks some basics: 1) The room maintenance was poor - tatty furniture, old doors and fittings, etc. 2) Really basic towels (and a couple of times we had to ask for more as they did not replenish the towels after cleaning the room) 3) Really basic room fittings (hardly any toiletries and again we had to ask for more as they did not replenish, no pen or pad in the room, no room manual with info on times for breakfast, hotel facilities, etc.) 4) We had to argue and provide proof (from the Venere website) before we were given free breakfast as they insisted it was an extra charge. All in all, it is not a bad hotel. The location is excellent and the rooms are fairly clean but it lacks any charm, any extras to make the stay more comfortable and the fixtures are pretty tatty and old. For the price, I would have expected more. It is certainly NOT a hotel I would recommend for a romantic weekend in Paris. It was ok for my stay with a friend but not romantic or special enough for anything else.

This hotel is in a wonderful location, only 3 blocks from Notre Dame. The lobby area could use an update. The lift is the smallest I've ever seen. Very tight for even two thin people. But the room was very nice and large and very comfortable. The staff was very friendly and helpful.

We loved staying here. It was in an excellent location. Very conveniently located to the Metro as well as a lot of other tourist areas. I would recommend anyone to stay at the Claude. They are currently under renovation and should be even better in the next couple of months.

Its superb location is its great asset, situated on the Left Bank only a short walk from Notre Dame and close to all forms of transport. Staff were friendly and relaxed. Free internet access provided was very useful. The rooms were cleaned properly each day and clean towels and sheets provided daily. Lounge area and dining room were attractively furnished. We had a very pleasant stay indeed.

Hotel in great location - 2 blocks from Pantheon, 1 block from the Sorbonne and 2 blocks from the metro. Cafes/brasseries were close by too. Would stay there again. We had a triple room that was very large for a Parisien hotel room. It was nicely decorated, and very spacious. Our room was on the main road and the 1st floor- it was a little noisy but not too bad to interrupt us or sleep - the spaciousness and comfort of the room outweighed the slight noise. A very nice hotel - we'd stay there again.

This hotel is in a perfect location if you like the Latin Quarter district and a quiet area. It's literally a block away from the Sorbonne Univ and accessible to cafes and the bus stop on St. Michel. Our room for four people was big for Euro standards. The bathroom was very clean (except for the half shower door). The staff were very friendly and helpful. I would stay at this hotel again.

Whilst the hotel provided what we needed for a few days in Paris, the rooms were rather tired and in need of some new furniture. The mini bar was empty although therefore room to put our own drinks in and the bar downstairs in the hotel was also empty! Just a few glasses and a corkscrew that were loaned to us for the room! The bathroom though was very modern and everything worked properly. The hotel is in a great position for heading out sightseeing and there were some fab restaurants within a few yards, namely Le Petit Prince (very busy - had to book) and Le Chou Coup (?)- excellent service. We took our two children (7 & 10) and they were served first which is always a good sign. We didn't have breakfast at the hotel as there was a lovely boulangerie opposite that did all kinds of snacks and coffee so we people watched there instead!

Location was excellent, walking distance to Notre Dame and a block from the subway and The Soborne. The area was safe to walk at night, many people on the street, very lively. A coffee shop across the street where you can find croissants, warm cheese sandwiches an more. The room was clean with two balconies on the sixth floor, nice bathroom, and quiet. Overall the hotel wouldn't be rated 3 1/2 starts in USA but for Paris where hotels are smalls this one was good for us, we went there only to sleep,"we were in Paris!". The only problem was the elevator too small and up to the 5th floor only but that wouldn't stop us to go back again.

One of the best Hotels in Paris. Excellent location, friendly staff, lovely rooms. The lift can take only one person comfortably. If you are on the 6th floor be prepared to lose weight or suffer a heart attack. All the reviews show that the guests were allocated 5th and 6th rooms. What about the others floors???? Otherwise excellent.

Contrary to the reputation that the French people have acquired, the staff at the Claude Bernard was very polite and helpful. We booked a quad to save money, but when we arrived there were no quads available so they gave us two rooms at the same price, which was a better deal. Small rooms by USA standards, but a great location. Short walk to Notre Dame and lots of restaurants.

The hotel was clean but very small. I was mislead by some of the reviews stating that the rooms were large. The lift was for one person. We were placed on the 6th floor that has no lift available after 5 and I was with two people over 70, very inconvient. The rooms were on street side so very loud. The photo of the room I was assuming to stay in, was not the room I received. The location was great but I would not recommend this to others.

This is a great hotel. Its located in the latin quarter, but just outside the busiest part of the quarter. So the nights are fairly quiet and the streets not crowded. However, the busy part of the latin quarter is just a couple blocks away as is Notre Dame (if that's how you want to spend your day). There is a metro stop about two bloocks away that we used several times each day. I had a wonderful time in Paris and this hotel contributed greatly. The room was spacious (we had a quad) and comfortable. Only thing to note is there are lots of stairs - our room was on the fifth floor (elevator only holds two people, at best) and we went up and down them several times each day. Highly recommend this hotel.

Our room met(if not surpassed) all of our expectations! It was very cheerful, updated and spacious. The bathroom was beautiful and spacious as well. The location was perfect, we could walk to the Louvre, Notre Dame, the Orsay Museum, the Latin Quarter at night was very exciting and the metro was convenient as well. We'd like to thank "Mamoun" in particular, the clerk who helped us arrange our night tour and various outings and restaurants. Many local pubs, shops and restaruants within a few minutes walk. This was our first trip to Paris and we would surely stay at the Claude Bernard again.

For expensive Paris this hotel was great. The rooms were huge. We reserved a triple and in was fantastic. Although one of our triple was on the 5th floor and the elevator was so small that we just sent the bags up in teh elevator and walked up. Only two people max, no baggage, could fit in the elevator at a time. The hotel was a 5 minute walk from the subway. It was uphill, which is something that the map can't show you, but it only uphill one way and not too bad of a walk. The staff was friendly and helpful. TThe hotel was also close to a couple of nearby restaraunts that were good. One was fairly expensive, but the food was good. There was a pizzeria nearby, but we were going to Italy after France and decided to eat the local cuisine intead. Without question I would stay here again. I am not sure how larger the single or double rooms are but the triple were great!!!!

Excellent location for sightseeing, shopping etc. Reception area very gloomy and rather unwelcoming, but the rooms were much brighter and spotless. Having requested a twin room, we were disappointed to be allocated a tiny double room. However, the bed and linen were excellent and we were assured that should we return to the hotel we would be given an upgraded room, as our particular visit coincided with a large group of American students who were using twin rooms as triples. The management were most helpful and in spite of the extremely small room the hotel was perfect for our short stay in Paris.

When we arrived (advised the hotel by previous email)around 9 pm after travelling since 10am that morning we were told that there was a problem with our room. We were taken down the road to another hotel (Hotel Sully St Germain)where we were given a very cramped and dark room for 3 (a double bed with a fold down seat/bed)with a window facing an internal courtyard covered in scaffolding which was undergoing extensive renovation. This was not a satisfactory arrangement particularly as opening the window was not going to be an option. We were subsequently given a larger and more expensive room plus a free breakfast (for the same price) because I made complaints to both hotels.I was very grateful for the efforts made by hotel staff to improve our situation. However our hotel stay was marred by this experience and being woken around 9am each day by workman banging away during the course of their work. We were also made to feel that our requests were unreasonable as rooms in Paris are usually this small. The room had very little walking space once the second bed was unfurled and the ensuite bathroom only allowed enough room for the occupant to turn around in a tight circle. The only seating available was on the beds which were jammed together.

Accomodation was already medium, but better than other I've found in Paris; just an trouble on check-in, because the room was not pre-assigned, and booked double room was not a "real" double, just a twin, without joined bed, just closest each other. Room was clean and have a nice wiev anyway, on the 5th floor (I've an corner wiev over Notre-Dame); just some furnishings need to be change (Bed, old spring matress, door and shutter; windows was new), because was a bit "old". Finally a good accomodation, with middle price, middle quality room and a good collocation in the city.
