Highly recommended. Terrific staff. Close to restaurants, great local cafe, nearby to a true Parisian park. Close to 3 Metro stations. Fresh produce market mid week. Cool art market on Sunday. Local supermarket close by, large Monoprix supermarket around corner. Rooms clean, just watch out for the Paris plumbing. Crossiants abound.

Location is excelent. Close to the historic center of Paris and near several Metro stations. The neighbourhood is packed with lovely restaurants, although there is also an area with many sex shops, not as lovely. The hotel rooms have been maintained and are clean, but they are small, completely NOT noise proofed, and our room did not have night tables and had a "closet" that was unusable. No place at all to store any cloths!. The bathroom was absurdly small and unvented. Not pleasant!. Despite the great location and good efforts of employees, I would not use this hotel again.

Although the lobby and public areas were a little frayed and tired, the bedroom and bathroom were clean and entirely adequate for a comfortabl stay at this price. The room faced a public garden square and unexpectedly there was very little noise. Public transport from the area to other parts of Paris was excellent.

I liked very much my stay in this hotel. The room was essential but enough spacious for two persons. There were a desk, 2 small wardrobes, 2 chairs and a mirror. The room was very clean, quite and with a private bathroom which was also very clean. The position in Montparnasse area is perfect: close to 3 metro stations and many bus stop and plenty of cinemas, theatres and different kind of restaurants and street markets in the week ends. The breakfast was 6 euros, so we walked around and we found a cafe where it was served for 4 euros! Anyway, I noticed that breakfasts in Paris are between 6 and 7 euros, both in hotels and in cafes. I definitely recommend this hotel and I will return there.

Impossible to have an extra half day in order to leave the hotel at 18h instead of noon, because the hotel was fully booked , but thanks to the good understanding of the day receptionist, I was allowed to keep the room till 14h, with no extra charge, which permits me to have a bath before going to Roissy apt to catch my plane to Singapore, which I consider a positive and commercial action. This hotel is good for Tourist as it is very well position in Montparnasse area, famous for its easy going night life.

I booked a doubled room. Positive items: hotel sourroundings (a lot of restaurant, very easy access to underground, etc); nice furniture (in Paris you can't pretend to stay in Versailles!) Negative items: you can hear everything from the other rooms; the room was not so cheap.

A clean, smallish triple room with no tea/coffee facility in the room. With no air conditioning in this room it was good to be able to open the windows wide, but in doing so you were overlooked by many windows around the hotel. A very basic breakfast in comparison to many other continental breakfasts we have encountered & at 6 euro for tea& bread quite expensive. The lift was small but most helpful. The hotel is really central, excellent access to the Metro, eating places & for shopping.

I want to remark that the personnel (reception, dining room, cleaners, etc.) at this hotel was extremely kind, nice, helpful in many many ways. For every thing we asked, they were ready to collaborate. We are veeeeeery satisfied. If I had to go back to Paris, I would choose this hotel.

We stayed at Hotel Central for a night on two separate occasions. It is very convenient for Gare Montparnasse and the the TGV services to the southwest. It is quiet, clean and simple but perfectly adequate as a stopover in Paris. It is tucked away by a small park so can be hard to find at first but worth the effort

Pretty much a standard offering for a 2 star horel in Paris, its quite acceptable. The location is a plus, as it is easy to find, and close to the Gare Montparnasse and the set-down point for the Air france buses from CDG. Plenty of nice restuarants, and small theatres nearby, and the street is quite even though its close to busy Avenue de Maine. The hotel is in Rue du Maine.

Good small hotel overall. But in serious need of refurbishing the lobby (uggly and dirty) and changing the general outlook viewed from the outside( it does not look like a hotel but rather like a crumbling apartment building)

The location of the hotel is close to the metro, but you will probably need a detailed map to locate it from the Denfert Rochereau stop from Orly Airport. The staff is very friendly and will help you in your requirements. The room is pretty average for a hotel, you might be able to get a better room in the same area. The room is not sound proof, can heard the room next to ours speak and even in the bathroom hear the tap running from the next room! It can be quite disturbing when the other room comes back very late at night.

I was satisfied with this hotel very much. The room is simple, but always clean with cleanliness. The reception understood our clumsy English with kindness. For a low price, I think that the contents of the hotel are substantial. When I travel in Paris, I want to stay at this hotel again.

I am lucky enough so that I have stayed here for just 1 night. Staff was really poorly behaved. When I reached hotel, they told me that my room is not yet ready. Every subordinate is pointing badly to their superior. Only good point living in this hotel is its proximity to most of the tourist spots. (20 min from Bir Hakiem tube station(Where you have to get off for Eiffel tower)).

Wonderful location, very big and quiet room for Paris. The property is clean, in a great neighborhood, with good restaurants that did not feel like tourist traps. The only downside was the lack of internet connection. I wish I could pay for it, but there was nothing available except some free weak signal in the hotel lobby.

The location of our hotel was the best thing about it. The picture of the rooms on the net show well decorated rooms, the reality of our room did take us by surprise. Paint was peeling off the ceiling, the carpet wasn't stapled to the ground properly, the wallpaper was something my great grandmother might have had in her home. We could only find one socket in the room and that was just inside the door of the bathroom. Initially we were tempted to move but then our parisian friend called and explained to us that this is what a budget hotel in Paris was like and she had stayed in worse. Aside from decor issues the room was cleaned every day, our beds, towels etc, we didn't have much interaction with staff but the receptionist had fine english and was helpful whenever we did approach him. From a location price point of view the hotel is perfect but if your looking for a touch of luxury this isn't it and you will have to increase that budget.

+ well located, easy to reach from Montparnasse station, quiet street, close to supermaket and restaurants - bad Q/P ratio. Tiny rooms, that need serious refreshing (bathroom was new). Doors, common spaces, corridors, lift are noisy. Walls are in paper, and you can hear other clients TV or more... Take your ear plugs.

Clean hotel, nice view on a little green square. The hotel and its furniture need some freshening ! The room I had was OK, but not very well insulated from noise, especially from adjoining bathrooms. I had trouble with the breakfast room service : I asked for breakfast in the room at 7:15 (I had to leave for the railway station at 7:50), and they mixed it up with another room breakfast. The serving lady said she would come back right away with the right tray, but 15 mn later I was still waiting. So I went downstairs and was told that "there were other customers before me". I eventually got my breakfast tray , but not before 7:35. I suppose I should have had breakfast in the common room downstairs ... On the whole, the hotel is OK for its price, but maybe not for a long stay.

The room was clean enough, but the bathroom tiles could do with a good scrub. The room was very noisy, cleaner started on same floor every day at 9 am! Outside room on main road was very noisy from about 7.30 am. THere was Satalite TV, but no english speaking chanels, even CNN would have been good. The hotel was well situated and the cafe/bars in the immediate area were pretty good and excellent value. I would stay in this part of Paris again, but not this particular hotel. Staff were very nice, but hotel needs a good make-over.

We were extremely satisfied with the hotel - the only short-coming being that our room was not spacious, however for Eur95 a night bed and breakfast for a triple room, what more could we ask for! This is a good spot for families since the hotel staff are adequately accommodating and the breakfasts (bread & croissants with coffee or hot chocolate) are plentiful and delicious. Moreover there is a little park/play-ground in the square outside as well as a number of casual and inexpensive restaurants close by that cater to children.

My family and I stayed in a Triple Room (Superior). The room was spacious, tastefully appointed, and very clean. The bathroom was much more spacious than what you typically find in European hotels. The staff was very friendly, professional, and made every effort to assist us during our stay in Paris. The hotel is located within close proximity to two Metro stations. My only complaint was that the continental breakfast was not complementary and that it was expensive. I would advsise anyone staying at the hotel to have breakfast at a nearby patisserie.

Once we found it (don't get confused by Rue du Maine and Avenue du Maine) we found the entry way a little offputtingly bare bones. However, the staff was pleasant. The room was located behind the Concierge desk and was tiny - we had a Triple Superior room - which was a double bed and a pullout double sofa bed. Not much room to move! The breakfast was not included and at 6E for croissant and coffee and juice, we passed. The INNO Monoprix just accross the street has a terrific deli/coffee area (as well as a full supermarket) which is far more economical. The bathroom was obviously recently renovated, but the sink leaked and there was no wall hook for the shower head. However, the bathtub was deep and the water hot, and after a long day of walking, a long soak was most welcome. The hotel is 5 to 10 minutes from the Montparnasse tower- great views of Paris, the Cemetery, and on Saturdays, a farmers market. There are also many restaurants nearby. We did not love this hotel, but neither did we hate it, and it is centrally located and reasonably cheap for Paris. It suffered by comparison to the Terminus Lyon that we stayed in for the first part of the week, which we adored.

Once you have the difference between Avenue Du Maine and RUE de Maine sorted out, and you are in fact looking for Rue du Maine, the way to find the hotel is easy and quite simple from the Air France bus drop-off at Gare Montparnasse. Very interesting neighbourhood. Lots going on. At first the entrance to the hotel did not appear too inviting, but the reception from desk clerk was courteous and friendly, and our room (#105) was one of the renovated rooms and quite modern and comfortable, window to the rear inner courtyard made for a quiet stay. The hook to hang the shower head above your head while showering is not there just yet, but may come. Restaurants plentiful in any cuisine and price range you wish, down the street, around the corner, and Ave du Maine. Great location.

Central Paris is a good hotel if you only need a place for sleeping, having a showing and keep the baggage safe. It's not a beautiful hotel but the facilites (bathroom, tv, etc) are good and new. The surroundings seems not very good when you arrive, but is a neighbourhood very safe and quiet. And you have all the commodities (restaurants, supermarkets, train station) very near. Very well connected with underground and buses (Gare de Montparnasse).

My stay at Central Paris Hotel was good in general. The metro stop (line 6) is near to the hotel, even if that one advised (Montparnasse Bienvenue) is not so near. The welcoming has been excellent, my single room was clean and complete (bathroom present) even if a bit small, also for one person, so I suggest to reserve double room.

I have reserved two double superior rooms of Central Hotel in Paris and got a discount. However, when we were checking out, the servicer of Central Hotel denied the discount for us of the price. Besides, we showed the email records to him, he still insisted on that we were wrong. At last, his manager agreed to give us the discount which we should got. If one can deny the truth of the reservation which have happened, there's no mean to have a reservation in advance. If one can deny the words written in black and white, how can we feel easy to have dealings with him? It's very important to let every friend to be very careful when contacting with hotels, even though their equipment is good.

Wonderful value in this pleasant, somewhat plain hotel in a neighborhood that has a little of everything. The markets on Blvd. Edgar Quinet were worth the stay by themselves. Front desk staff were always pleasant and helpful and the breakfasts were excellent simple continental breakfasts with the best butter and breads. There is lots to do in the neighborhood and with three Metro stops nearby you can easily get to anywhere you want. I'll now stay here every time I'm in Paris, and can't imagine that you'll beat the value anywhere.

We had a great time. The hotel is located close to the public transportation. However, the hotel needs to check the sewer pipe to our room because there is a leak. This could be dangerous if gases colect. It is not rare for exposions to occur from sewer gas collection. We stayed in the room with the windows open.

We are American college students who went to Paris to spend our spring break. We had our budget in mind when we chose this hotel but we were very pleasantly surprised at the quality of the room in this hotel. The manager told us it was remodeled in January and everything we've seen justified it. Funishing and especially the bathroom were of higher standard than Holidy Inns and Best Westerns in the States/Canada. Every staff we've encountered, besides the cleaning lady, spoke excellent English and were very friendly. The location for us was perfect as well. There are two metro stations within 5 minutes of walk and numerous bus stations dot the area. The streets are filled with inexpensive restaurants and cafes and there are two supermarkets within 2 minutes of hotel. Overall, we highly recommend the place. It is an ideal place for travelers seeking cheap yet clean place.

This is a very convenient, very comfortable hotel with decent size rooms by Parisian Standards. The best part was how quiet it was! I shared a room with a friend. We had a single bed and a double bed. The bathroom was very nice, but basic with great water pressure and plenty of hot water. With it's convenience to the metro and train station, the quiet, the price and the delicious croissants, I would happily stay here again despite it's lack of charm or romantic location. It has more going for it than many of those types!

Un hotel situé dans un quartier calme, tout près de la station de métro, près du bus, et de bons restaurants japonais.

No frills, two star hotel. The location is interesting as Montparnasse seems to be more of a place where actual Parisians live. The distance from museums, attractions, etc. was not a problem due to the nearby metro stops (the metro is great--you can take it anywhere you would possibly want to go). Only one member of the staff speaks English, which was a small problem when we were checking out and they had overcharged us by 30 euros (our twin was quoted at 80/night, they charged us 90/night, the rate for a triple during our stay). It was very early in the morning and we had to leave quickly because we were catching a train to Amsterdam so we just paid the extra money and left. Not too big of a deal, but a little annoying. Another problem: we made a reservation for 3 more nights before leaving for Amsterdam and when we returned, the hotel had no record of this. They were able to accomodate us by putting us in a double (one bed) as opposed to the twin we requested previously. Overall, the location is okay as long as you don't mind being slightly off the touristy areas, the bathroom was nice (bath tubs are much better than showers in Europe--no water pressure), but don't expect much from the staff unless you are well versed in French.

We are quite satisfied during our stay in the hotel, the location is excellent as is near to the main metro station and Air France shuttle bus drop off. The hotel surrounding by many variety of restaurant and cafes, is a good place to hang around. My advise to the hotel is if possible they refurbish the staircase and the main entrance apperance that would be better look and comfortable.

The central location of the hotel, so close to the stop for the Air France Coach and the Edgar Quinet metro, was the key advantage of staying at Central. However, after checking in (and they did allow an early check-in at 1100h), we were advised that they were working on the elevators. We were helped to our room with our luggage. However, the elevators were not fixed during our 4-day stay, and with my 60-year old mother we climbed those stairs at least 4 times a day. Our room was on the fourth floor! Due to the elevators not working, every morning we were awaken to additional noise (rooms are not soundproof) as everyone, including ourselves, had to cart our luggage down the stairs. Doing such at 0630h somewhat leaves a bad taste, despite all the positive things noted about the hotel. We had asked for help at the front desk since we had received such upon check-in, but the response to such request was a laugh (not the same person who checked us in). Would we stay at Central again or recommend it, no . . . but at least we were able to see which other Venere hotels were located in the area with the same advantage of location.

Our second stay at Central Hotel Montparnasse proved it once again to be an all round good value no frills 2* hotel. It is very clean and although it does not have a restaurant,it provides an adequate continental breakfast. The hotel is excellently placed for one of Paris's main railway stations at Montparnasse which is less than 5 minutes walk away and is also handy for a number of Metro stations including "Edgar Quinet" which is under two minutes away. All around the hotel are good quality bars, cafes, restaurants and theatres. A street market is also held regularly in the pavements adjacent to Edgar Quinet Metro station.
