localisation of hotel is ok,rooms spacious but my room(No 10) was extremely noisy(some pump or generator making permanently terrible noise on top of this very loud disputing from kitchen?staff going on for hours---had to close the window therefore sleepless night--how could this happen at bestwestern standard??? No mobile net available neither in room nor in the lobby, comment of the receptionist to my complaint" oh yes,"we are having trouble with the net since one week"---this no-reaction is the main reason why I do not plan to return to this hotel--too much disappointed!!!

All in all the hotel is above average for your standard Parisien hotel. It is conveniently located just behind the Opera and very close to the department stores; and relatively new in condition. I believe the hotel was refurished quite recently, and everything is stil in relatively new condition. The rooms are very large. However, the downsides are: (1) They did not have enough kettles for each room. This was listed as one of the complimentary things available from reception. When we asked for one they said because of the cold weather (Jan), all the available kettles had been taken by other guests and so they did not have any available. You would have thought that they would have sufficient supply for at least one per room. (2) There were problems with the hot water in the rooms from the morning of the 3rd day of our stay onwards. This was not good given that it was really cold and snowing outside. The person at reception said that they had called someone to fix it and that it would be fixed that day. However, it was not done even by the time we checked out at midday on day 4. (3) The guy on reception in the evening was absolutely useless. When I asked him for a kettle, he did not understand - when he eventually understood (after using sign language), he didn't know where to look for them. When I asked him about the log in for the free wi-fi - he didn't know where the information was kept and told me to ask again in the morning i.e. ask the daytime reception. Then when I asked for more shower gel (which is also complimentary)he queried why I did not have any in my room. (4) Sound proofing of the rooms leaves much to be desired. I could hear the people in the room next door talking - but that is partly because they were speaking loudly. You can also hear the other rooms doors slamming shut. Overall, I would recommend this hotel. However, don't expect much assistance from the evening staff.

Internet service was not worked, and Elevator(Lift) was broken. So My room is 5th floor, I have to climb up stairs 6 floors every day!!! They didn't fix in a day but still when I checked out it was not fixed. Location was very convinient, very close to Opera, Bus tour stop, department stores and Metro station, especially it was good very close to Roissy limousine bus stop.

The hotel elevators broke over the weekend. I had to insist on some kind of price reduction because of the inconvenience of having to walk up 4 flights of stairs. Finally i was able to get 50% for one of our nights. The internet wireless does not reach the upper floors.

The staff at Caumartin were very nice. Of our 9 days in Paris, we spent one day in Giverny. Giverny was pretty, but getting back proved to be little bit of a problem. We ended up getting back to Paris a little before 7pm, but we had a reservation at the Montparnasse restaurant for 7pm. We let the lady at the front desk (of the hotel) know about this just to get her opinion on what we should do (still show up but late, go in the clothes we wore all day or just don't show up or whatever). Anyhow, she told us to go get changed, and while we did she called the restaurant and worked it out so that our reservations were for 9:30 instead. So, ya, a very nice experience with the staff there. My wife has a special diet, and as a result we had to buy quite few groceries while in Paris. No continental breakfast for her. Not terribly interesting I know, except the rooms do not come with a mini fridge or anything. But again, the staff was very nice and they let us use the hotel's fridge to store our things. Overall a very good experience with the hotel. The only thing negative I can say is that I don't think it is in the best place of Paris. Yes it is centrally located, but when the evening comes, there are no people on the streets and not much to do in walking distance. We stayed in the latin quarter in 2005, and that place was jumping all evening. We could walk 100 meters for a choice of many restaurants. There were also many other things to do in that area of town. I should note, if you plan to do alot of shopping this is a great area for you. The two biggest department stores are just a short walk north.

The Hotel was a great find. Location excellent for metro, restaurants, shopping. Breakfast could do with more choice of food - we were hungry after it, although unless you like pastry and coffee there is not much choice in breakfast around Paris either. Would definitely use this hotel again.

Excellent location for shopping, public transit and sightseeing. The hotel itself was a great value, completely remodelled and all of the staff we saw during our week there were friendly and helpful. The neighbourhood had everything we needed (great little bakery across the street, small market with fresh fruit up the street, many little restaurants and Metro, RER and inter-city transit no more than 15 minutes walk away. We walked to the Louvre, d'Orsay, the Opera and many other sites. Our only complaints about the hotel were the lack of drawers anywhere in the room and the usual issue with power plugs and converters (they were blocked from being plugged in). However, the bathroom was a very pleasant surprise (big and all new) and the room (a twin) was just like the pictures. Would definitely stay again!

My husband and I have been for the 4th time to Paris, each time to different hotels and this was the best we had, compared to the price, the place and the staff. The staff was absolutely great and helpful with reservations, restaurants etc. Really enjoyed it. The breakfast was good, at least they fresh made orangejuice. The surrounding was perfect: 10 min. Lafayette and Opera, 15 to Rue Honore Faubourg and 25 to Louvre. We will stay there for sure if we go again to Paris.

The hotel price is advertised on VENERE as "all taxes included". However, on checkout we were charged an extra 1 Euro per person per night as some indeterminate extra tax which was "not included in the price". Also, on the VENERE hotel pages it stated that there was free wifi internet in the rooms which was refuted by reception with a very gallic shrug of the shoulders as "a mistake", never mind that this was a deciding factor for our reservation. It was impossible to connect via dial up from the room telephone, probably because it had been disabled in some way. Overall our stay was OK, but not as good as we had expected.

Excellent location, with a superb French "local" meat restaurant right on the same street. Decoration/design of hotel was nice, but nothing breath taking. Poor English @ staff. Didnt try breakfast, seemed expensive.
