A nice and clean hotel to stay for few days. Really close to metro station and to Latin Quartier. A good price for the right service. We were 3 friend sharing a triple room and we spent 3 nights there. I'd been in Paris six times and I can tell that this is one of the best hotel I experienced: cheap and clean.

Small room but adequate. Good hot water. Helpful desk. Our room at back overlooking courtyard, rather than very busy street, amazingly quiet for location. Close to Metro and good boulangerie and supermarket. Would have liked opportunity to heat water with an electric jug in room.

Male staff extremely helpful, female mostly interested in booking transit. Fair location once we found the bus stop across the street took us to the Louvre. Pluses; genial staff in a 50 unit hotel which got pretty hectic at checkout time. Previous comments are accurate re noise, value, and size. We should have stayed here the entire trip since moving to Montmartre and Champs E proved to be a waste of mid day time, when a simple subway change accomplished the same result. Since most of your destinations are lining the Seine, you should book here or perhaps the left bank if the costs are only 10 Euros more and the same customer rating. Note that a ticket from a departing visitor will allow you to enter the Louvre for free. Same for most museums. Minuses; plumbing was fine but previous occupants were rough on the shower wand / rod mechanism. This complaint applies to the other hotels we stayed in.

I stayed 4 nights in a single room. The room was really small anyway it was the best room I've ever had in Paris in an hotel of this category. It was clean and silent, the bathroom was almost new and confortable. The position is perfect and the metro station is few steps from the hotel. The only bad remark is about breakfast: 10 euros for a poor buffet.

General state of the hotel was tired, needs decorating and refreshing. The room was tidy and had been cleaned but again just felt it needed refreshing. The TV didn't work and the toilet seat wasn't fixed to the toilet, so there was a feeling of neglect and lack of checks and care. I mentioned the faults next day, (I arrived too late to worry about my 1 night stay) and got the impression these had been reported before but not corrected. Not the worst hotel in the World, but with a little bit of effort, it could be a lot better. OK for 1 night passing through.

I'd recommend anyone who want to go to this hotel to choose a room with a simple or double beds because twin rooms seemmed to me not spacious. The services in the hotel was very good, facilities as well (all in the surrounding, try the pedestrian "mouftard" street with many shops). Breakfast was too expensive ( you can find musch better in same area for less price).

They were extremely friendly and helpful at this hotel. Our wireless internet did not work the few days we were there, and they did their best to help reset the router. I thought there would be more activity in the area of the hotel, but it was pretty empty (maybe because it was August). The hotel room is small, quiet and clean (a double bed). It could use a bit of a spruce up, but for the price, that it was I expected.

Nice neighborhood. Close to Metro and bus. We had a triple room and they all faced the street, not a problem to me but partner had concerns about possible noise issues. Other rooms faced a courtyard that was probably quieter. Very nice staff for limited French speakers. Not an area filled with tourists but an easy bus or metro ride away. That I liked.

We stayed in a room for 3. Spacious for Paris. The bedding was clean however the room needs to be spruced up a bit...the walls were a bit dirty. Really nice staff. Great location...one minute walk to the Metro. Very basic but it was exactly what we were looking for.

We had a pleasant 4 days and 3 nights in the hotel, it is very conveniently located with the metro within a 100 meters walking distance. I found that breakfast was expensive (we went to the Brasserie across the road), there is also a grocery store very close by where you can but water and snacks at convenient prices.

We found Gobelins to be in an excellent position. Close to the Metro which has to be the best underground in the world! It's not a busy touristy area so it was always nice to come back to. The staff were fantastic. Our room looked out over the street, we loved the view.

I was pleasantly surprised to find a double bed in a single room, which, being at the rear of the building on the fourth floor, was exceptionally quiet. The reception manager seemed equally at home with English and French. Hotel conveniently placed near Gobelins station. The only downside was the minuscule shower cubicle with hardly room to turn round without turning off the tap in the process. Also, the reversal of first names and surnames briefly caused confusion for one guest.

I stayed here with my adult son and daughter for 2 nights at the beginning of May. The double room was excellent, the single a little cramped but at least offered a double bed for my tall son! The hotel staff were friendly and efficient, and the rooms were cleaned each day. The area perfect for Metro access or to walk through Left Bank to the river and beyond. Breakfast expensive at 10 euros, but many cafes close by. Definitely recommend and will use again.

I'm aware that this is something of a mixed review. A number of things influenced this. Most of the staff were excellent and welcoming but the person I met first was the least friendly. Other friends had stayed here and I think I was expecting something more special than it was. Also, I'd failed to get into my usual hotel and this was 30 Euros a night more so I was expecting something a bit special and I was disappointed. However, I found it a good base, the room was large and clean, it was quiet and the staff later in the week were very helpful. However, the public areas do need refurbishment and the breakfast area looked uninviting so I chose to find somewhere else to eat and didn't regret this. It's a very interesting area, a little further from the centre than I normally stay, and I enjoyed discovering this very interesting and varied part of the city.

The hotel was great. The room and bathroom were very spacious, especially for France. The reception is very small and the breakfast room also, but we went to the nearby bakeries for breakfast instead. I only have one complaint, the wifi was very poor. It didn't work much of the time and when it did it was extremely slow.

We really enjoyed our stay here. The room was clean and warm. The bed was comfortable and despite overlooking a main road there was no noise from traffic (though don't think this would be true in summer with windows open!). Staff were very welcoming and helpful and the location in Paris is superb. We did alot of walking straigh from the hotel but, there are also good links to public transport routes when your feet are tired! We had breakfast in a bar nearby - cheaper and more fun watching Paris wake up. Enjoy your stay if you do decide to book.

This was our first stop of a 6 weeks holiday to Europe and we found the manager very helpful taking time to show us where the buses departed and the way on maps to points of interest and there were many - thanks to him and also his female assistant. We had doors opening onto a small balcony from our room which was very clean and we found quite spacious. The area was great with buses and underground close by and how nice after sightseeing all day to come home to a nice hot shower and fresh towels and then go just around the corner to Mouffetard market to browse and have a evening meal. We will be recommending this hotel to friends and family if they are fortunate enough to be going to this beautiful city.

We loved the location of the hotel, and it was quite comfortable and large, especially by Paris standards. The only complaint was that the large bed (there were two beds) was as hard as a rock. I was so tired I slept well in spite of that, but woke up a little sore.

We had the largest room we have ever had in Europe. Our room was on the front and had a balcony which we loved. This meant we heard the street noise but we are from an urban area so that was not a problem for us and we did open the balcony doors. Hotel staff very welcoming and helpful. Area is near many restaurants that are good quality and priced well. Less than a block from a Metro stop. Of course with the exchange rate of dollar to Euro the rate seemed expensive to us but if the rate had been 1 to 1, it would have been very reasonable. We enjoyed our stay there and would recommend the hotel.

The hotel facade was cute with its balconies and flower pots. The room and bathroom were clean. The staff were very helpful. Breakfast was very basic for 10 euro. What I like most was it was close to Mouffetard (I hope I typed this correctly) which you could find french restaurants, cafes, fruit market, fromageries, etc. Overall, it was a good experience staying at this hotel.

The shower was so small that I had to turn off the water and open the door to bend down, and it was very difficult to turn around in (and I am very slender!) The street is very noisy (though the windows are very good and quite soundproof) so take earplugs. A very good price for the area, I was pleased.

I went for my first wedding anniversary for 3 days in Sept. 2009 and we both liked the hotel. It is close to the metro and buses and les Gobelins (restaurants street). Moreover, there is also Le Jardins du Luxemburg nearby and the Pantheon. The rooms are clean and for a minimal stay, they are really comfortable. We were on the 4th floor and we could not hear anything. I would recommended to friends.

The size of the room was comfortable, the view from the balcony lovely and the bathroom clean with all of the required amenities. The location was great, 5 min walk to Rue Mouffetard and 15 mins to Blv'd St Michel. The most outstanding feature of the hotel was the staff. They were extremely helpful with directions and always greeted us with a smile. Would definitely stay there again. Didn't bother with the breakfast - opted for a croissant at the local boulangerie

Enjoyed my Paris stay with my wife for 6 nights. Especially the people working at the front desk are super friendly and helpful. Also the location of this hotel is excellent to almost every wonderful spots in Paris by metro or bus or walk. Around the corner, there's nice bakery for breakfast and in the intersection, there's small shop run by an old man opening until 11 at night, so~ convenient. The room is a bit small but okay for couple like us. It is very clean and quiet when windows facing backyard like my case. Not many excellent facility in the hotel, BUT this hotel will be BEST choice for young couple or single with limited budget and definately will go back in my case!!! Thank you~

I think the hotel had a great location and the staff were very helpful and accomodating. The room was ok, it had what we needed for a weekend. On the hotel web site it says that all the rooms are very quiet - but we had a lot of traffic outside our room, so that was a bit disburing (especially in the morning). All in all we are very happy with our stay and I can absolutely recommend the hotel further.

Our reception was very friendly and helpful. Location is excellent, a half-block to the Gobelins metro station and within walking distance of the Pantheon and Luxembourg Gardens. With windows open, there was some street noise but not enough to keep us awake. Very good bargain for Paris.

After spending hours trying to search the internet for hotels,we stumbled upon Hotel Carofftel Goblins. It seemed a very popular 2 star hotel & we weren't disappointed. The hotel was in a fabulous location about 2 mins walk from Les Gobelins Metro Station in a lovely tree lined street. The staff in the hotel were always happy & friendly. This hotel was great! Excellent location in the Latin Quarter. Close to the bus, metro restaurants etc. etc. Staff were super friendly and made me tea at night when I couldn't get one anywhere else. Rooms are small but clean and really quiet! On one night I thought I was the only one in the hotel because it seemed so quiet but I found out it was actually full!

Loved the location--close to Metro stop with good acces by foot to many interesting sites. I rated spaciousness of room at 5, but it is probalby typical for Paris and was big enough for me--no dresser, small closet. Shower was a tight fit. With the exception of one person, the staff were very helpful and cooperative. I would have rated it a 9 overall, but I requested assistance from the night clerk and he outright refused to assist me!

The staff was excellent. The room was small, but clean and O.K. There was noise of construction until about 11 p.m.--may have come from another building. Tried to charge me more for breakfast than on my reservation--they charged me -- 7.50 euros, but it was supposed to be 10 euros (Venere needs to correct this). No computer available for use, but I don't know where they would put it because they have no real lobby. Very convenient to most areas of Paris by bus or metro.

Fantastic Parisian hotel in this price category. Very clean and well-run and conveniently located just a few minutes walk to the Metro and 15 -20 min. to the River Seine. Many thanks to Christine and her staff for their helpfulness and friendliness. Our top floor room overlooked the main street but was still quiet and had a balcony as requested. Attractive breakfast room for a good start to the day. We would definitely re-book next time or recommend the hotel to anyone looking for a pleasant, convenient and reasonably priced base to explore Paris (we tried to get in on our return but was booked out). Excellent cafes, bars and restaurants close by (esp. rue Mouffetard) for breakfast, lunch or dinner in all price ranges.

When I booked this hotel, I was looking for a reasonably inexpensive place to stay in Paris for two nights, close to the metro line and (if possible) in an interesting area. I speak French and, having been in Paris many times, didn't really require much in the way of concierge services, ao I usually go with a two star hotel. I had read favorable views here about the Carofftel Gobelins and decided to try it out. Well, it was great----not only for people who don't need help negotiating Paris, but, I think, for anyone looking for a good value. The proprietor is pleasant, tactful, and very willing to help with any questions, problems or glitches. I got the impression that, no matter what the problem, she'd find a way of handling it. (A great plus for travelers who might be nervous about being alone in a foreign city.) She speaks fluent English, too---not always the case in two star hotels. I had booked a single room, and was given one that was larger, airier and more comfortable than I'd been expecting: nice shower; plenty of towels. The surrounding neighborhood is pleasant and interesting: the nearest metro stop (Gobelins) is just a short walk away, as is Rue Mouffetard, with its colorful market and shops. I will definitely return to this hotel, and I'd recommend it for almost anyone who wants a quiet, clean, pleasant place to sleep at night, after spending the day experiencing Paris.

This is a great location. Despite being on a busy avenue, the neighborhood is quiet and very pleasant. The Place d'Italie shopping center is just up the street, too. The rooms were fine - no AC, but fans, which worked for me. My single was small but adequate, and the double was very roomy. The staff is very friendly and helpful. The door is locked at 11 p.m., but they were happy to open the door at the ring of the buzzer.

The hotel was perfect as a base for exploring Paris. It was in a good location - we walked just about everywhere, to and from the hotel, except for the day we went up the Eiffel Tower when we took the metro from the hotel to get there early to avoid the queues. Easy to walk to the river, taking in lots of interesting buildings / side streets / sights along the way. Plenty of places to eat by the hotel, nice Italian restaurant around the corner and several breakfast cafes. We had breakfast in the hotel one morning, it was good with plenty of choice. The only thing we really missed was a kettle in the room, we get cranky without a cup of tea.

I have traveled all over europe on this trip and this was the worse hotel we stayed in. we had it booked for two nights and got out after one and they charged us for the second one even though we checked out in the morning. it is small, hot, no a/c, and in a bad area. had homeless folks down on the streets. not a good vacation place at all.

The hotel entirely fullfilled our expectations. The room was clean (and with a balcony as requested), the staff was friendly, and the location was perfect. We highly recommend breakfast at the first cafe at your right on the little square at the church in the direction towards the Latin quarter.

We enjoyed the hotel. It was VERY clean and they came everyday to give fresh towels and clean the room. It was a good size room for the price. The staff was very freindly and helpful. Only thing was that you have to leave the key at the front desk when you head out. We returned back at 1:30 AM and they lock the front door at midnight. We had to buzz in and disturb the guy at the front desk to let us in, he seemed annoyed and said somethings in French I didn't catch. We did not know that they locked the front door at midnight or would have told them we would be in late. Other than that we enjoyed it bery much. Great location with a fresh oyster bar next door. Easy to walk to from the Metro stop.

A very friendly and welcoming hotel. Conveniently located - a few minutes walk to the Metro - and extremely clean and well-run. The hard-working managers and staff deserve a particular mention. Our room (which overlooked the main street) was still very quiet. It was basic but comfortable and breakfast was very tasty! I wouldn't hesitate to re-book myself or recommend the hotel to anyone looking for a simple, convenient and reasonably priced base to explore this wonderful city.

We stayed at Cafofftel Gobelins for 4 nights in March-April 2008. We chose the hotel after reading guest reviews and were very happy with our decision. The hotel is in a good location, with only a short walk to the Metro, farmers markets on Rue Mouffetard and a range of restaurants, pattisseries, etc. Our room was clean, quiet and big enough and the staff were friendly and helpful.

The best two-star hotel in Paris where I have stayed in Paris so far. Very clean, rather spatious (for Paris standards) room in good condition. Helpful personnel (they speak English as well), nice surroundings (Hausmann's boulevards, 10 minutes walk to Quartier Latin or Jardin des Plantes), very close to a metro station. But quite far from major points of interest (although this is not a big problem since Paris is a compact city and le metro is virtually everywhere).

Es fantastico! C'est magnifique ! Carofftel is a great option for a clean, nice, warm welcome and well managed hotel. Although breakfast at the hotel is very good, Rue des Moufetards, two blocks from the hotel, is a must if you are looking for an entire French culinary experience. I plan to go back to Paris and I will definitely book again at Carofftel. Congratulations to Christine, who has a wonderful hotel with a very nice and helpfull staff.

For the most part, we enjoyed our stay at Carofftel Gobelins. The hotel is only a few minutes' walk to the metro station, and there are restaurants, pharmacies and even a Monoprix nearby. The rue Mouffetard, with its outdoor market and many small shops, is only a short distance away. The staff of the hotel is friendly and helpful. Our room was quite large for a Paris hotel, and double-glazed windows minimized street noise. The walls were a bit thin, but the hotel was quiet from 10 or 11 PM onwards. Our only real problem was that there was some sort of bug in our room that bit us on two consecutive nights. We never saw it, and we didn't get any bites on the 3rd night, so it must have gone elsewhere. The room was very clean, so I don't think that was the problem. At any rate, overall we had a very nice stay at this hotel. Our 4-year-old daughter especially loved the balcony overlooking the street.

This was my first time in Paris, and I stayed at the Hotel Carofftel Gobelins for 3 nights. I don't speak French, and that was never a problem. The staff was WONDERFUL and entirely accommodating. I requested a room on a higher floor and was e-mailed within a day that they had in fact reserved a room on the fifth floor. The room was pristine, as was the bathroom, and the noise level was minimal. The room was rather small, but that didn't matter to me in the slightest, since I basically just wanted a nice place to crash that wasn't too noisy or sketchy. The street it's on was a bit more commercial than I had anticipated, but it's only a few blocks from Rue Mouffetard, which is a lovely little outdoor market stretch. There were some beautiful (quieter) streets within a few blocks. I would DEFINITELY stay here again, and I would highly, highly recommend it!

Recetion was very welcoming and everyone there did there best to help us. My only complaint would be that this is on the outside of the latin quarter. If you can get around on a subway or bus you are fine, but if not you feel kind of stuck. The room was tiny, but was fine for what you pay in paris. The quiet mornings were welcome! For breakfast go for the pastries up the street, get out and about and don't do breakfast at the hotel. Go up to Mouffetard street, that is were all the action is!
