A very handy hotel for Gare de Nord. The rooms are a fair size for Paris and my bathroom was very spacious with a large tub. The one draw back are the thin walls between rooms. You can hear the person next door whisper so if you have noisy people, like I did the first night it is hard to sleep. I did not take the breakfast as so many good places around the hotel. Very easy to find from the station

Our first trip overseas and a visit to Paris was included. The room was adequate with an 'ensuite' - cramped toilet was an add-on from the bedroom!! Once the window/door was closed all noise was blocked out which was a good point. The place lacked good front staff who could understand English, or were willing to advise on things to do. Was handy to cafes and bars. No tea/coffee facilities in rooms. For a place handy to Gare North and within walking distance to good shops, this place would be okay to stay in.

I think that breakfast must be included in the price. I prefer to pay a little more and not to pay it apart. One suggestion: the safety box must be a real one or must be installed at the room just to avoid the dependence of another person. I only could make money extractions during the morning after 9 am.

Price matched quality of Hotel. Breakfast very meagre for 6 Euros. Rooms perfectly adequate for my requirements. Public area full of laundary on two occasions. Caused no real problem but looked poor. Women who ran the breakfast room was efficient and friendly.

We enjoyed our stay very much, the location was the main attraction with the hotel between gare de l'Est and gare du Nord. We missed having internet access as we did previously in the lobby as we did not have a laptop. The breakfast was just as copious as before with the exception of the "petits pains", we enjoyed our "baguette" much better! Providing a cold drinks cabinet was good as we stayed in summer, but having access to tea and coffee facilities would also be a plus. We'll be back!

I would recommend this hotel to anyone who is agreeable to using a common toilet in the hallway. The hotel is located in an area that is fairly quiet and the room is spacious enough and quite clean. The door to the room was a bit squeaky.

I have stayed in this hotel several times. It is good value and very convenient for arriving by Eurostar and getting everywhere else in Paris by metro. The rooms could be noisy in hot weather if you needed the window open but fine when it is shut. There are no kettles provided in the rooms as stated on the website, I always take my own but the electric sockets can be in very difficult places.

We had stayed in this area on previous visits to Paris, but not at this particular hotel. We were pleasantly surprised by the quality of the room for the price and even more impressed by the service of the staff - they were very welcoming and most helpful.

Although it would be easy to pick faults with this small, but conveniently located for the Gare du Nord, hotel the friendliness of the staff and their willingness to ensure my comfort compensated for anything else. I would happily stay there on another occasion.

May be i'm not familiar with the relaionship between price and hotel in europe, but i was in an hotel room in bacerlona and madrid for 10 euros plus i get a much better room, in a place much better located (in the middle of everything), maybe Cambrai could invest a little bit more to make a better stay. If you ask me, would you stay in this hotel again?, my answer will be, "Maybe, maybe not"

The Cambrai was charming and much nicer than similar priced hotels in this part of Paris. The room was smallish and the decor a little tired, but it was clean and comfortable. Best suited to couples.

we were in Cambrai Hotel for 4 nights, have booked standard double rooms. the receptionist was very friendly and speaks english very well. the toilet in our room was opposite the bed, the folding door was broken alraedy. thats why we have used the toilet outside our room on the floor. this toilet room is bigger. the rooms are not quiet, you can hear every noise outside your room, but if you really tired it is not important anymore. the noises are from neighbour rooms and the elevator. anyway, the Cambrai is a few minutes from Gare du Nord station, the price/quality is okay for Paris, next time I will go there again.

The hotel is located near to Gare du Nord. But as is situated in a very busy boulevard it is not quiet. So you can't open the window for the night. But it is a place start your visit to Paris for a nice price. So, if you don't want to pay a lot of money for sleeping you are at the right place.

It's very close to the train station and there is no parking available at all, not even to check in, most of their customers are coming with the train and the train station is in walking distance. But once we got there they helped us get a parking space in a garage where we got a discount rate as hotel customer.

The room was fine, very clean and bedding all good. It was not necessarily representative of the standard as shown on the website but nonetheless I do think it was value for money. Breakfast was an extra 6 euros but this was good and value for money.

We chose this hotel because we wanted something close to transport, and not too expensive. Hotel Cambrai met these requirements absolutely. It was easy to find, close to main train stations as well as buses. It had it's eccentricities, as one would expect, but it was exactly what we needed.

We stayed here in order to be in town to catch the early morning train to the airport. The hotel is a 5 minute walk from Gare du Nord, which made it perfect for that purpose. The room was not very big, but had the bare essentials. The shower was clogged which made showering a bit of a task, but doable. All in all, it was what we paid for seeing as it was very cheap. Our room faced the main Blvd Magenta and the hotel is in front of a bus stop, which meant we heard the bus stopping all night long. If using it for the proximity of the Gare to catch your early morning train and avoid any hassles the morning of your travel, this is ideal.

Ideal location for visitors and those who need to transit Paris, just a walking distance from main railroad station -- Gare de Nord (great especially when traveling with a lot of luggage, just like us :D ). Easy access to Metro/Subway and Buses. 25 mins away (by walking) from Sacre Coeur and its superb panorama over the city. Plenty of mini-markets and cafe's around. Extra careful staff & very clean rooms. You could even get a delicious continental breakfast for only 6 €/person. Great value for the money - I would probably check in again here, for the travel convenience and excelent rates.

The walls of the rooms are very very thin - so much so that you can actually hear the conversations of people in neighbouring rooms. Although this isn't a major issue during the day, it is very disruptive at night. Even my girlfriend, who is a heavy sleeper, was regularly woken in the middle of the night by people coming to their rooms late and watching their televisions. The area of Paris this hotel is situated is not safe. The convenience of being located a few hundred metres away from Gare du Nord is greatly outweighed by how rough the neighbourhood is. Tramps line the street at night to sleep, meaning you have to pass them all on the way from the station to the hotel. There are several adult shops and bars nearby, attracting the sort of people that most people would want to avoid. We didn't ever feel safe at night here. I know some people had difficulties with hot water but ours was fine. However, there was so much hair (not ours!) in the shower plug that the water takes a long time to drain, meaning that you have to take a shower in two parts in order to stop the water overflowing out of the shower cubicle. I wish I'd listened to the other negative reviews of this hotel as they were all correct. Pay a little bit more and stay in a safer part of the city.

The room was really in disrepair. It was an end room facing the rear, overlooking a messy courtyard. It was supposed to be a triple for three women. It ended being two double beds. It had two rooms which made it spacious, but the rear room had no hardware (doorknob) on the door. There was only one outlet in the entire room. The bed was very uncomfortable and the pillows were lumpy and hard. The only thing that is provided is a bar of soap and very small bath towels and hand towels. No tissue, shampoo or lotion is provided. We stayed at the hotel previously in December in two twin rooms which faced the street and were nicer. The only reason we stayed was because of the price and it's location close to Gard du Nord. Luckily all we did was sleep there. We paid extra to have breakfast there one day in December, but decided to spend the money on all other mornings on nearby cafes. Paris is very pricey. It seemed that we paid a lot for what we got.

we stayed 2 nights seperately for the Thalys. The 1st night (superior double EUR65) was fine, good large bathroom with clean and new facilies whereas the room rather not enough ligtening, a bit dark. But overall it is ok. The 2nd night we booked superior TWIN room (EUR75). Unfortunately, the staff made a mistake and provided a triple room at G/f for us, with one queen size double bed and one supplementary bed. Finally, we just slept on the double bed as that single bed look scary. And it is not a bath but just a semi-working shower without seperate area so after taking shower, the whole toilet got wet. That's not preferable. And the wooden furnitures are so old that look like nobody using for 30yrs. So scary that we must turn on the TV and all lighting to sleep. Since they can't provide the correct room to us, the staff is smart and professional enough to provide us free breakfast and claimed will refund the price difference to us (but as claimed by the staff the room price are the same), hence wondering whether they will at least refund EUR10 to us. A little bit doublt for that. The fotos shown on the web are much better than the real one for the bed. Only suggested travllers stayed 1 night for TGV, Thalys. Just opposite to Gare du Nord. And must not choose the triple room. Superior double is with reasonable price and quality.

Close to eurostar and hop on hop off bus stop. The place is old and run down with an attempt to revamp rooms. Walls are very thin and could hear other guests conversations very clearly. Don't bother with breakfast you have to pay extra and was just a joke anyway. Rooms were clean but we came back to the room door being left open after cleaning. One of the rooms the toilet was so small you couldn't turn to flush. Not for the old or people with young families.

Very good surprise for a little hotel very close to Gare du Nord (2 minutes walk). I had already payed less for a hotel in the same area, but the quality was very poor. Cambrai Hotel has been renovated, is clean, beds are confortable, and welcoming was very satisfying for Paris! The only problem is that walls are very thin and you can hear your neighbour talk... Anyway, it's an attractive place for people who need to take the first train of the day at Gare du Nord, as for exemple, coming from Lille or Brussels in the evening to attend a concert, and be back at work the morning after! Prices at the hotel are the same as proposed through Venere.

The hotel is shabby and run down, and could do with an overhall. It's nearness to the Garde De Nord would make it an ideal place to stay if the hotel was given a good face lift. There are good restuarants and facilities near by but the hotel lets its self down, with it's shear unclean shabbyness.

Location is quite good if you are planning to take SNCF trains to other parts of Europe. Room size is okay considering you are in Paris. The bathroom needs major maintenance. Sound-proof was pretty poor as I could hear the guy snoring in the next room. Beware, hotel will charge you for one night on your credit card upon booking. I have received a 4% discount on booking through Venere, but the hotel still charged us the full price in the end at $60 Euro per night for a STANDARD room. We refused to sign the bill and requested them to do a refund of the difference, but the staff on duty said he couldn't and we should have shown them the internet booking confirmation at the beginning. We didn't want to argue with him as he was not fluent in English and we didn't want to be late for our flight, so we let it go. Like the location, but we won't return to this hotel in particular.

The room was very small compared to what it looked like in the picture. There was mould in the bathroom. No tea and making facilities in room. Bed was lumpy and pillows were flat as a pancake. Walls must have been paper thin as we could hear the people in the next room...As I was leaving I went to use the public toilet in the lobby and it was covered in urine, hadn't been cleaned. Hallway outside room had not been cleaned or vacummed. Didn't have the breakfast so can't comment on that. Hotel staff were OK, pleasant enough. The location was great in regards to train station but worth noting that Gare De Nord station has homeless people by the dozen sleeping outside the entrance so not the best place to take children..and not a good first impression of Paris.

Very close to Gare d’Nord, good reception but 4th floor room had badly uneven “new” floor, rotting window frames, cracked windows and double bed squeezed against two walls. Very comfortable, clean room. A great value in getting many amenities for the price, as well as location. The hotel is located very near Gare du Nord, (part of my decision was based on this fact since I had a lot of luggage for my 2 week holiday!). This makes it convienant to Metro lines and Eurostar/TGV, and a bus stop is right at the door. Good neighbourhood, lots of restaurants and stores nearby. The only problem was the loud traffic outside on a very busy thoroughfare, though this is a small price to pay for comfort and convienience. (not really the hotel's fault)(Besides, living in the northeastern usa, I am all too used to and oblivious to city noise!)

I reserved a superior double room, because I needed a bathtub for my young girl. Also, I gave specific instructions saying I needed an extra bed for her - at the site they say "Baby cots are free of charge for children under 10 years.". Reservation was confirmed with no comments about that. When we got there the room (5th floor) was really small, impossible to fit anything in there. Staff don't really speak anything other than French. After long discussion they moved us to another room (3rd floor). Very small as well. Stinky bathroom, shower only. A big prob with a 1 year old. Plus, big surprise at night when we got back to the hotel tired and ready for a warm shower: bathroom lights wouldn't turn on, hot water was not working. AND, the guy at the reception did not speak Eng! I was so mad! He tried to help, but it was not easy. I argued they confirmed my reservation and now they didn't have the room I asked for. Next day, another room. 6th floor. Very nice, brand new bathroom with skylight and marble tiles all the way to the ceiling. Very small as well to ad the extra bed. Lots of stairs when elevator is not working. My advice: if you want to stay there, make them promise they'll give you a room on the 6th or 5th floor. The other ones are garbage. TV is really bad, only broadcast channels (no cable). No outlets to recharge your stuff. They said it's for security reasons LOL. We were going to leave during the night and on that last day they threw a plastic bag I had in the bathroom in the garbage (or took it, I don't really know and didn't have time to complain). I had very expensive hair stuff in there. I still can't believe they did that as the bag was quite heavy, easy to see there were things in there, not just garbage. The area is a little scary after 6 or 7 pm. There's a very good bakery around the corner. Hope that helps!

The hotel was in a good location and close to the subway (Gare Nord) which made it easy to get around the city. If you want a better breakfast, there are a couple of McDonalds within walking distance. If you order their brunch there is enough food for both breakfast and lunch. The room was small and the lighting very poor. With all of the lights on in the room it was difficult to read maps etc. The equipment needed attention. The toilet seat was partially broken and the shower had to be held to make it work. The drapes were not in good repair and at times the elevator would not work. There was a TV in the room but the choice of programming poor (no English stations and only about 6 in total). Having said all of this, I consider these problems minor and it was quite an OK place to stay. The place was clean and the room made up each day and there were no surprises with the bill at check out time. It is very good value for the money spent.

We booked this hotel because of its close proximity to the two major railway stations - going to both London & Zurich. At the time, the painters were working on the outside so it was impossible to have the windows open at night to get some air. But with the windows open, the traffic was extremely noisy - mainly sirens. The room as small yet adequate.

Good value for the price and well situated just minutes from the railway station. convenient both for the Metro and the Eurostar. Not the 'poshest' part of Paris, but local sidewalk restaurants provided good meals with a Parisian atmosphere and the local baker made the most delicous French pastries. The room was small and the en suite toilet/shower even smaller, but at least these facilities were supplied. Overall, we were happy with the Hotel Cambrai... the hotel was comfortable, safe and economical.

I stayed at the Cambrai in September 08 for four nights. The service at reception was poor and you were given no information eg on breakfast, location of your room, etc. The staff were not well presented and seemed to want to do as little as possible. Saying that, one member of staff went out of his way to help me book a bus to London. Rooms were clean, but bed linen was shabby. Front rooms are really noisy if the window is open. There is no a/c or fan. The location was excellent - a short walk from the Gard du Nord and there are plenty of cafes nearby and fast foods eg Subway, MacDonalds. I would look for another hotel next time, but probably in the same location.

Awesome location - close to two metro/train stations (Gare du Nord and Barbes Rochechouart). Good value for money. Problems: non-existent puny pillow (no extra pillows either), weird periodic shrill noise in the pipes from bathroom (closed bathroom door and it was ok). But problems can be easily ignored for the price, especially since we were out all the time! Staff was very helpful.

I recommend this hotel. Nice hotel, welcoming staff. To the down town it is 15 minutes by tube. To the Sacre coeure 20 minutes by foot. Hotel surroundings is safe nad clean. Nice street with wedding clothes shops :) Only one negative: The rug (bedspread) in bed was very dirty !!! Yah

the hotel was in a great location for us, two blocks from Gare du Nord. services, stores, and cafes around the hotel are less expensive than the turisty areas. There are plenty of small quant cafes and bakeries behind the main strip where the hotel is situated. We stayed in two rooms one very tiny and the other was just small both were adequate for our personalities and our budget. 24 hr. staff was friendly all spoke some to little english, definately would recomend and would stay there again if ever back in paris.

The location is quite noisy, since it's on a major road, but the room was quiet enough inside with the doors/windows shut. My room was reasonably spacious and comfortable, but the lighting was so dim that it was difficult to read. There was only one electrical outlet, high on the wall, and using it required unplugging the TV. The staff was friendly, but don't expect much in the way of service. All in all, for the price I recommend this hotel. It was convenient, reasonably clean and spacious, and comfortable. I will certainly stay there the next time I'm in Paris.

Great location just by Gare de Nord, nice room which was peaceful and had a great shower. I had my bike with me - the employees let me put it in the secure courtyard away from the streets which was a great relief. The staff were very humouring of my poor French and happy to help with directions and local queries. Was staying by myself but would be happy to go there with my girlfriend if we were trying to find an economy hotel.

Close to Gare du Nord. Quite a few restaurants surrounding. Room was nice/clean/cool decor. Staff was friendly. There is a lift if you have heavy luggage. Pretty good value for the price.

Fazit: NIE WIEDER!!!!

Great location, 5 minute walk from Gare du Nord train station, plenty of eateries nearby. Staff were very helpful and friendly, with good English. The room was small but clean and functional, only one power point though. The view from the balcony was nice, overlooking the tree-lined street below. Free Wi-Fi in the room.

room was tiny, but clean. Exactly what we expected after reading the other comments. A good place to stay if you are needing just a place to rest and clean up. Breakfast was not included, but was reasonably priced at 6 Euros, and quite good.

In a very average area near the train station. But the positive is it´s central.

A nice and simple hotel with excellent value for comparatively little money. The location is perfect (Metro, Gare du Nord, Gare de l'Est).

The hotel was just 3 mins walk from the main station Gare du Nord. The staff was welcoming and very helpful. The rooms were tidy. A little expensive deal as the breakfast was not included in the price. No AC in the rooms and specially in summers it gets really hot. Overall a fair stay.

Hotel staff were friendly and helpful and all spoke English. Room was clean and the windows blocked out the noise from the busy street adequately. Ensuite small but sufficient. Easy walk from Gare Du Nord and metro station. Good value for money, would stay there again.

The location close to Gare du Nord is convenient for arrivung on Eurostar and getting to everywhere else in Paris by Metro. As a place to spend one night it was fine for the price, if I was staying longer I might prefer somewhere a bit quieter. Due to the room being fairly small and a funny shape I got a nasty bruise by banging my leg on the table. The breakfast was OK by French standards, they do not go in for big breakfasts.

Esperienza orribile.
