Two sisters
United Kingdom, Jul 2009
I specifically booked a twin bedded room as I was travelling with my sister. Despite this we were give a double bed. The concierge could not find us a twin room but did reduce the price a little.

We were family of 5 adults from New Zealand/Australia. Hotel exactly what we expected for 2 stars and price. Clean rooms. Basic decor and small but functional bathrooms. Were worried travelling in winter that rooms may be cold and hot water might run out but this was not the case. If anything the rooms wers so hot we had to have windows open. Staff were friendly. Centrally located to metro. Some good basic eating places in vicinity. Red light district was not a threat. Felt safe at all times. Not luxory but good value for budget traveller.

Relatively good hotel in good location, but when I visited the lift was broken which meant walking up 5 flights of stairs every day, and there were problems with receiving incoming calls.

Bathroom very small

The hotel its self wasn't that bad. The room was clean and decent sized. The bathroom was tiny (I couldn't sit on the toilet with the door closed and the shower was about 1 sq. foot). The major downside is the neighborhood. You can't get to the hotel without running a gauntlet of prostitutes. If you look over the list of metro stations Lonely Planet advises single female travelers to avoid at night, it includes the ones closest to the hotel. There is a lift, but you need to go up the stairs to the first floor to reach it. Which isn't bad, assuming the front desk turns on the light for you *which they normally don't). Otherwise you're going up a narrow, very dark stairway. The hotel is loud. I had people walking by room at all hours of the night. I also had hotel staff vacuuming the (hard wood) floors outside my room by 9:00 am every morning. It's cheap enough, but do yourself a favor and find someplace else.

The room we were offered had 3 balconies. Small though they were, it made for some lovely unwinding time at the end of the day. The room itself was large and clean, though certainly not luxary accomidations. Perfect for young travelers or those on a budget. Metro was just around the corner and the staff was friendly and as helpful as possible.

The bedrooms are very small, exspecially the bathroom. The stairs and the reception are very small too. The description on internet and the photos are a big lie. A big part of the hotel is now underconstruction and in the morning you get up with hammer noise. It's very boring.

There were nine of us from Australia staying at Baby, we are all young ranging from 20-24 so it is the perfect place for young people to stay for a reasonable price. It is in a really central area really close to a metro stop and very close to streets with decent and reasonably priced restaurants and good shopping. There are alot of prostitutes in the area but we felt that just added to the cultural experience. We all felt mostly safe in the area, besides the first night when we arrived and we were standing on the streets unable to find the hotel as our taxi had dropped us off at the wrong spot. I think Hotel Baby needs better street directions on the website, but besides that all was good. There are some great little restaurants on Rue St Sebastopol and other streets right near Baby, you just have to try them out. Overall a really fun stay for us, rooms were cleaned and beds made every day. Felt safe in the hotel. Employees very accommodating, especially for us who spoke very little French they were very patient and helpful.

a cozy little hotel in proximity to the center of city. a romantic view on the roofs and chimneys of the old housing estates. among disadvantages of the hotel can be mentioned closeness to prostitutional area and picturesque night life.

Location is good & cenral, some noice from the street as one must expect. Walking distance to 'everything'. Spacious room, small bathroom. Bathroom had a leacage and there was even a big fungus growing out between the tiles. Beds were clean, but floor had dust in the corners.

Clean hotel, nice staff, but very noisy-located in the area full of prostitutes. We wouldn´t recommend due to this area(in the night dangerous-screaming and fighting to be heard intensively).

Hotel Baby itself was brilliant - exactly what we were looking for (cheap and cheerfull central hotel for 4 students) The staff were really helpfull - especially as our French is quite poor. The rooms were great - if a bit varied in size (I had a massive one but my friends next door were quite cramped). The only thing wrong was one street nearby which was positively LINED with prostitutes! as long as you are not easily embarassed, and have a strong stomach(!), then this is no real problem. I would definitely visit again or recomend to other students, but maybe not families.

It was noisy and cramped, the showers were clogged and the bathroom doors didn't close, but worst of all, the breakfast we were given was 3 stale croissants for 5 people - no bread available - and we were charged the full price of 7 euros 50 EACH, that is 37E50 for 3 croissants and 4 cups of coffee. Don't stay here. The neighbourhood is also rather seedy.

The price was great for the location in Area2. However booking over the net, site unseen shows that with low price comes a cost - the area surrounding the hotel was very noisy at night, red light district very close and the outlook not the greatest. Rooms clean but small (not unusual), no lift, and if we had of been able to book elsewhere we probably would have. Consider if on a tight budget.

The room wasn't as nice as the good, modern looking of the receptionist (which basically the breakfast room!) The first night was very noisy that we couldn't sleep till after midnight. The room was fine though it didn't have comfortable bed. Bathroom was so tiny that it was hard for us to move. When you sit on the toilet, the sink is basically on the top of your chin. No lift was available - we neeeded to bring the luggage to 4th floor. Receptionist was hardly spoke English however me managed to make conversation. We ended up to extend our stay to 2 nights as we couldn't bother to look for other ones. Anyway very close to the metro (though again, the metro didn't have lift service). Basic hotel.

We found the hotel hard to find. The area is fine but there were alot of prostitutes around even in the day-time. When we were brought to our twin room, there was a strong smell of urine and the man at reception said he couldn't smell anything! He did, however, give us a bigger room with no smell. This room was on the 6th floor and there is no lift.

l'hotel è molto carino e comodo per la sua posizione ed è collocato in un bel quartiere ma per facilitare chi ci si reca consiglio di scendendere alla stazione della metro strasbourg saint-denis anzichè a quella di bourse è molto piu vicina!

Very basic hotel but clean and presentable. Bed too soft in my opinion but we slept quite wll anyway. Friendly staff. Good location but many prostitutes around. Unfortunately lift was not working (4th floor!). For the price we paid I think it was a good choice and we raccomend it to smart people..

Visted March/April 2005. Hotel was easy to find from Gare De Norr (about 1 mile). Hotel was basic but clean and presentable. Staff friendly and helpful. They even let us store our baggage until the evening when we checked out in the morning. Notre Damm about 1 mile walk and hotel was quite central to all the local attractions, although there were quite alot of prostitutes after dark but that did not bother me! Would recommend a stay.
