I arrived early after an overnight flight and was told that I couldn't check in until 2PM, the normal time. That is certainly within the rules but I felt that there was no attempt at accommodating my request which had also been e-mailed several days in advance. Also, my single room's only window faced essentially a partially lighted "air shaft" between the buildings and I was told that all the single rooms were like that. Otherwise the room was similar to other rooms I have stayed at in Paris at this price range. The staff were friendly and helpful (other than early check-in) and the location is excellent.

Small and clean, typical for the area. Great location, close to the Seine but on the Left Bank, near Notre Dame. Staff is friendly and very helpful. I think I can beat the price and upgrade a bit by moving away from the River a little next time. but a worthy consideration for sightseeing.

This was my second time at this hotel, and I will most probably chose the same next time. Room and bathroom are tiny, but very functional. The location is more than perfect. During my six days stay, I used only one metro ticket :) Internet connection in room could be a bit stronger.

We spent 2 nights here and it was a fantastic location. A short walk to the Metro and only blocks from Notre Dame. The room was small, but the elevator is no bigger than a phone booth! This property is spotless and quiet.

We stayed at this hotel for four nights. It is an ideal base for sight seeing and is only 5 minutes walk from the Latin Quarter where there are great restaurants and good bars. The hotel staff were very friendly and I would recommend this hotel to everyone wishing to stay in Paris.

Everything was great. The room was large by any standard. Breakfast was good, the Metro stop is very close, the elavator and AC worked just fine. A couple of negatives that may interest certain people: Windows in our 4th floor room would not close tightly and blew open several times in the night when sudden storms arose. The small elevator worked fine for us, but may cause people with large baggage a problem.

The location is excellent, and the staff are some of the friendliest and most helpful I've encountered. The neighborhood is great - more locals than tourists. It is NOT for Americans that love high-rise monolithic hotels - the rooms are of the small, European size, but it's an older, boutique hotel that was retrofit with modern conveniences, (which I find much more interesting than chain hotels that have all the same room layouts). Who wants to stay in their hotel room when Paris is downstairs?

The very positive comments we read previously were all correct - friendly, warm and helpful. We were very pleased with the room, #641. It's up at the top, with beautiful and breath taking view. We loved it. The bathroom was very cleaned and inviting. The room is not very big but adequate for two people and four pieces of luggages. The price found through the Venere.com was excellent for the great location in the Latin Quarter. You can't beat the price and location. We'll go back again for sure.

The Hotel was perfect for our stay in Paris. The location, just across a walking bridge to Notre Dame and within walking distance to everything in the Latin Quarter, was wonderful. The staff were very helpful with suggestions for dining and sight-seeing.

Perfect location, friedly and helpful staff. The room had no extras, but it suited all my needs. The elevator fits only one person with limited number of luggages. The internet connection was unstable.

Upon arrival found restroom ceiling taken apart and laying in the floor. Notified hotel staff who worked on problem for 2 hours while I had no room (no room until midnight) AC never worked during my two day night stay. The only good thing that occured was one staff member dropped the price per night for all the trouble listed.

It would be great if the rooms were ready upon arrival, if the showers had hot water and if the diminutive elevator wasn't constantly occupied by staff.

I think the rooms were riduclulously small abd the bathroom. We have stayed in many europeans rooms and this was the smallest ever. I think the price and the star rating are too high. I would rate it 2 stars and the cost should not be mor than 185. i would not recommmend this hotel to others.

Hotel is in an excellent location in the Latin Quarter. Room felt a little dingy and worn and the bathroom could have been cleaner. It was also small, even by Paris hotel standards, although the bathroom size was good. Hotel staff was extremely helpful and efficient. Our room was overlooking a smaller street but it was still noisy at night unless you shut the window. Overall a good but not excellent experience.

The hotel was well situated near the heart of Paris! The lady in the breakfast room was so nice. The noice from the pipes was terible in this hotel. I didnt get any good night sleep. You had aircondition but you couldnt change it! No remote control. Very bad. The staff was both very good and not so nice. Our rooms (single rooms) where incredibly tiny. My son forgot some shirts in the closet and they took it! Said they wherent there.

The location was excellent, metro, laundramat, bus, brasserie, restaurants, at door, short walk to Notre Dame and Louve. The room was not as small as my last visit to Paris at a better known hotel chain. The bedroom & bathroom were comfortable and adequate. Vanessa at the front desk was exceptionally sweet & helpful, but then all the staff were including the cleaners. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and will be refering the Hotel to our friends, and we will definately stay there on our next visit to Paris.

We were on a quick trip to paris to visit some museums and enjoy the city. the abbatial st-germain was *the* perfect location to do that - just centrally in quartier latin - some 10mins walk to notre dame - another 20mins and you are at the louvre, musee d'orsay or centre pompidou (whatever you prefer :-) metro station (notre dame) just a few steps away - perfect for the RER from/to the airport. the staff is exceptionally friendly and helpful. rooms are a bit small - but you're in paris of course. a fine selection of restaurants/bars available in this area - yes, quartier latin if that tells you any :-) we would definitely return to his hotel. enjoy your stay!

Air conditioner leaked and did not keep the room cool. Alternative was to open the window, but someone could then enter the room from the fire escape right outside the window. Safe could not be opened when I arrived in the room; two special codes given to open the safe did not work. Only after asking to cancel my reservation was the safe opened.

First trip to Paris, the Hotel Abbatial Saint Germain was the perfect stay for us. Very competent, helpful, and friendly staff. The breakfast area downstairs was quite nice and the food excellent. The staff here was equally as competent as upstairs in reception. We were close to the Sorbonne, and within walking distance of the Notre Dame and river Seine. All in all an excellent first stay and a great place to stay.

The receptionist was very welcoming and helpful, both on arrival and departure, and spoke very good english. The hotel is in a fabulous location, 2 blocks from Notre Dame and in the Latin Quarter with its great restaurants. At night stroll down the small lane-ways towards the river and you'll be delighted by all the restaurants, cafes and shops. The clean room and small, but that is expected in Paris, and had 2 small balconies so we could look out at the hustle and bustle below. It had a great feel to it. Overall we had a great stay in Paris and France and found the French to be friendly and helpful.

A good place to stay in Paris. I like the St. Germain location. Staff was friendly and helpful. Room not as small as some I have stayed in. It was clean, with plenty of water pressure. There was some noise from other rooms, but it was not a problem. No street noise. A few quirks (e.g. electrical outlet can't be accessed with bathroom door open), but overall a good value.

In short, I had a fantastic stay at this hotel. I had been swayed to changed from a different hotel by the excellent reviews and was certainly not disappointed. The staff were always happy and helpful and the room was always clean and tidy when I returned at the end of the day. The hotel is in a great location with a metro station about a block or so away, and is walking distance (a few blocks) to great little area for restaurants. I'd highly recommend this hotel to anyone travelling to Paris!!

I stayed one night during the recent transport strike(Nov 07) Very helpful staff despite difficult conditions. Room of high quality and reasonably priced for Paris. Breakfat in small cellar area was good with a fair choice. Position is excellent with easy stroll to the Latin quarter and 5 min walk to Notre Dame I will definitely use this hotel again.

Wonderful location. Hotel small but comfortable, with a very accomadating staff. Good restaurants nearby and much to see and do within walking distance....Our room had an obstructed view of Notre Dame. A complimentary continental breakfast would have been nice or even complimentary coffee. I did not try the breakfast as I thought it too expensive for what was offered and their are many pastry shops nearby.

It's tough to find a decent hotel room in Paris at any kind of decent price, but my wife and I were extremely happy with Abbatial Saint Germain in Oct 07. In our opinion the location is perfect, in the Latin Quarter right near the Metro and the bridges to Ile de la Cite and Ile St Louis. The room was small but very clean and well appointed. Loved the two large, double-doored shutters opening on to a view of the surrounding streets. Bathroom was fine. Staff were helpful and always courteous. Great eating nearby. We would definitely stay there again.

Overall, a pleasant stay. Good breakfast included. Staff was very pleasant and generally helpful, although they did give some bad directions to get around a closed metro station. Very close to Notre Dame and easy RER ride from CDG. We walked from RER station although a transfer to metro would get you closer to hotel. They do have a very small lift.

In some ways, this hotel was a disappointment. The location was good, although in retrospect I'd have preferred to stay further west along the Boulevard, closer to the Sorbonne - the Eastern part of the road is not as attractive. The hotel was quite noisy, even though it had double glazed doors. The rooms were very small, even by European standards, and the bathrooms were modern and clean but their size was a problem. A travelling companion stayed in a single room, which was (like many European hotels) a very small, dark space looking onto an internal light well. Not a very pleasant place to be. On the other hand, my double, though small, had two sets of french doors, each with a 'juliet' balcony, and the rooms were all very clean. The staff were quite abrupt at times, and the lift was absolutely tiny! I think I could do better next time, but it would also be easy to do worse. Paris is a place where maximum buck for minimum bang should be the default expectation.

Comfortable, very clean. No perks, but for the price was worth it. Shower had a half door causing a pool of water to collect on the floor everytime we bathed. Night desk clerks looked less than happy when we came or went out late at night. Excellent location - 2 blocks from Seine and Notre Dame, walking distance to Louvre and Pantheon as well. Great nightlife in nearby Cluny Square/Boulevard Saint Michel area for the younger crowd!

Great Location from Gare Du Nord only took 10 mins. Lots of cafe's and restaurants so plenty of choice on where to eat and drink. Metro station literally 50 metres from the hotel. Rooms were compact but plenty of space if your only there for a weekend and in capitals accommodation is generally not very spacious. Cleanliness and facilities were brilliant, hot water whenever needed and fresh towels and nice warm room. Very good hotel, perfect location and adequate room if your in Paris for the weekend.

Our room at Abbatial Saint Germain was better than we expected. For a hotel in Paris it was spacious, and had two large windows overlooking the street and another large window in the bathroom. With the windows closed it was quiet despite being right on a busy street. (we think we might have scored the best room in the house) The staff were all friendly and helpful. The decor was lovely and everything was clean and well organized. Although we thought the breakfast a bit pricy, it was hearty and much better than we have had at other Parisian hotels. The location is perfect. We will definitely stay there again - which we can't say for other hotels we have tried in the past.

The hotel is an older, traditional property which is very nicely decorated and very, very clean. The downsides are that the soundproofing between rooms, and to the corridor are almost non-existent. We could hear absolutely everything that took place in the adjoining room! Similarly, there was a lot of revelry in thge street at around 2a.m. which woke us up both nights. That said, we had a very pleasant stay in would not rule out a return visit.

Location is perfect. Very close to subway station and Blvd. St.Germain is a lively, pretty street with plenty of sidewalk cafes. The river and Notre Dame are just a few steps away. Ask for a room on the top floor. Number 65 on the top floor has a view of the Pantheon and the Eiffel tower. Room was very small (much smaller than the one pictured on the website), and the shower stall is tiny, but clean and adequate. Rooms on the 1st floor are very dark and dreary. Breakfast was adequate but not really worth the money. Staff are friendly and helpful.
