Hotel 29 Lepic - Paris

Location & Transport: Situated very close to Blanche Métro station and close to Abesses. The hotel is just a few short stops from Gare du Nord, which serves Eurostar travellers well. Cafés and bistros abound: For fans of the film Amélie, the Café de Deux Moulins is located on the same street. A 10 minute stroll leads you to the Rue des Trois Frères, which has some super friendly eateries and bars. A 20 minute walk up the hill takes you to the Sacré-Cœur Basilica and arugably one of the most famous views over Paris. Hotel Staff: Extremely friendly and helpful, witty too ! I received excellent bistro recommendations from the guy at the desk one evening, and a 'nod-and-a-wink' when I returned later the same night after a little too much Montmartre cheer. Rooms: I had a double, 2nd floor room facing the street (room 24). Large windows which open provide excellent opportunities for watching the goings-on below and letting in some air. Bathroom was clean and the shower had plenty of power. I did manage to pull a wardrobe door off one of its hinges (sorry!), so not everything is brand spanking new. But the bed was comfy and the room spacious enough. There is the option to have breakfast downstairs, but I always took mine at a nearby café (why wouldn't you?). A great place that I wouldn't hesitate to return to.
