The hotel was undergoing major internal refurbishment; there was dust and cables everywhere - UK Health and Safety would have had a fit! Also, there was no fire escape. We were on the fourth floor. Had there been a fire below there was no way out as the hotel has only one spiral staircase. Worrying.

As we would arrive only at 11 p.m. in Paris by train, I wanted to be sure that everything with the reservation was OK. I called the hotel at 7 p.m. and they informed me, that there was a problem with my reservation and that they were full. The lady at the reception informed me that they had moved us into another hotel that belonged to them and that is located at gare de lyon. The proposed hotel was a 2 star (1 star less), and not at all near the Marais district where we had booked to stay. For me, central location is essential as it is almost impossible to find a taxi that drives you back to your hotel after the Metro closes at 1 o'clock, and you don't want to walk at night in all areas. Also, the woman told us us to come to the hotel and she would explain how we could walk to the other hotel, which is a 30 minutes walk. I did not accept this and instisted that my booking was confirmed since 2 weeks and that they could have contacted me by phone or email, for me to decide wheter to cancel my reservation and chose another hotel in the Marais or accept their offer. I asked to speak the manager, but this was impossible. I told them that I would arrive in 3 hours and that I expected a solution. I called another 2 times (unfortunately, Venere Customer Service was closed already and the reservation hotine could not provide assistance) and only when we arrived, they confirmed that they had a room for us. The room however turned out to be incredibly small, we could hardly move, the double bed not more 140 cm large, there was almost no space for our suitcases and the TV was broken - However and I was too tired to argue to move into one of the bigger rooms. Next day I have just witnessed how another middle-aged couple was sent to the other hotel due to a 'booking problem'. They were really sad, but were not even offered a taxi to get to the other place, just take your bags and walk, it's only 30 minutes. In my view they overbook to fill the other hotel that 'had just reopened

The hotel is so very nicely placed in the middle of the Marais, plenty of places to visit, caffees, nice shops and many people in the streets all day and til late at night. I really enjoyed my stay and will be back.

A very nice hotel in a very nice area of a wonderful city. The rooms are really nice, individually designed and freshly worked over. They were very clean, the Service was great, they helped us very good with our parking problem. If you want big hotel rooms, go elsewhere, but if You want a nice place to stay, this is a great place, really worth the money. We will surely stay here during our next Paris vaccation. THANK YOU

The rooms are far too small to be confortable, and not cleaned properly. The only positive thing about this hotel is the great location.

the hotel is close to the corner of the best suare of paris, Place des voges, so more than great! little bit upset for the difference between the only showed room in the website and the other rooms, not so clever! i was sure to get a kind of ethnic room and I got a normal "no style" room ... in any case more than positive...the bathroom is great compared to the size of the room and employes are very nice and polite

We have a wonderful stay during our time and found the staff extremely welcoming and accommodating. The rooms were a little small, but we spend most of time enjoying the city and sights. We walked everywhere and found we were close to a lot of the major sights including Notre Dame, The Lourve and Musee D'orsay.

The hotel was a great value for the money. Hotel staff were accomodating and all spoke English. The room was freshly painted and clean, the bed comfortable and the flat-panel TV mounted to the wall was a modern touch. Although the room was a bit small by american standards I would recommend this hotel for the budget minded traveler. Also, it is within walking distance to Notre Dame, the Bastille and the Marais.

Des Chevaliers is a charming, quality hotel in a fabulous location a stone's throw from the elegant Place de Vosges... and unbeatable shopping. It's one of the better 3-star hotels we've stayed in in Paris. The rooms and public spaces are tastefully decorated in an antique-period style. The checkin staff was welcoming and most accomodating. It's a small hotel big on charachter. The price is commensurate with its location. Space and noise-wise, we'd recommend opting for one of the twin-bedded rooms facing the back.
