No heating in the shower room, dirty walls, minimum furniture and comfort. This room was the worst hôtel room I have ever had. I would not recommend.

The staff speaks english and very considerate and accomodating. The size of the bed is okay, however the sheets were not changed from the previous user as the smell of the person lingers on. As I've seen it it was not really changed from previous was not washed. The housekeeper changes the towels and arranged the bed everyday. The location is very easy to find. It is very near to the metro and very accessible. There is a restaurant beside the hotel which serves really great cappucino. I felt safe in the environment considering I am a female. Its a nice place to stay when you are financially constraint and you only need a room to sleep, though the guests are noisy. There is no elevator so it was really hard for me to carry my luggage up to the second floor, but the staff in the Reception Area helped me.

After having read some of the other reviews I was positively surprised. However I did miss wireless internet, but I knew it was not there, so it was my own fault. My room seemed recently renovated, so it was ok value or money. You get what you pay for.

This was an awful hotel - I would not recommend it & I would never go back. It is the worst hotel I have stayed in out of all the cheap hotels I have stayed in in Paris or elsewhere. I expected the room & shared facilities to be very basic (due to the price) which they were but I also expected the room & shared facilities (shower/ toilet) to be clean & in good order as a minimum standard. The floor & basin were really dirty & marked; the shared toilet was dirty & was not able to be cleaned as the toilet brush was even worse; & as for the shower, again it was so dirty, I did not use it. This hotel advertises itself as recently renovated - the room had had a recent coat of paint but the walls had damp patches & stained & other black marks as did the shelving. The staff were not friendly or helpful. However, the hotel is quite near Gare de l'Est (not so near Gare du Nord) & it is between the 10th & the 19th Arrondisements - it is quite convenient but still a bit of a walk from Gare de l'Est. This is the only positive I have about the hotel. There are so many hotels around this area, more convenient & better - go to them!

Basical rooms, without anything personal. Good for young people who are looking for a place where to sleep. The position is also good, there's a Lidl supermarket really close to the hostel and two Metro stops (Colonel Fabien L2 and Belleville L11). I would come back to this hostel.

I got exactly what I expected, which was a cheap room with a bed and a chance to freshen up in the morning and for the price it was quite reasonable. There wasn't internet at the hotel, but since at least 4 places within 3 minutes walk offered that for 0.5€/15 minutes, I didn't miss it.

Reading the reviews here I was quite worried but for the price this was much better than expected! It's a basic room with bed, sink, table and plug socket. Shared bathrooms were fine, I've seen MUCH worse in student accomodation over the years. The location next to Colonel Fabien metro station was brilliant for easy access to the city. My flight back was early in the morning so a 10-20 minute walk got me to Gare du Nord train station with plenty of time to catch the first train to Paris CDG airport at 4:53am. I expected worse but this was fantastic for the price and I would definitely stay there again if staying in Paris on a budget!

The place was ok. I wasn't too impressed with it since it had plumbing going through the rooms. These carted the waste from upstairs rooms and was kind of annoying since you could here it. The place was close to rail stations though and it wasn't hard to go for a bite if you were hungry. The place was reasonably clean.

Yes, it was the first time. I had a stay for 2 nights in Paris. I don't like my room, because it smells bad. The smell was of a smoking person. So the hole room smells from the smoke. It wasn't so clean. But the service at the reception was good. The toilett was OK.

A very dumb, not helpful man at frontdesk when arriving. No valid info where to park car, no help to carry heavy luggage to room sited 1st floor and many stairs. Room smells bad eventhough window was wide open on arrival, WC defect, shower curtain falls down, bathroom in very bad shape, not clean. No real pillows in bed, 1 AC connector in entire room, bed on wheels, moving... This is THE WORST hotel I have ever been!

I cannot claim this is a luxury place to stay but if you're only in Paris for a day, not expecting to spend time in your room as you're sight-seeing and just want somewhere simple to lay your head now, this is fine and I'm booked to go back later this year. Basically, you get what you pay for. Would only suggest studenty types stay, wouldn't be appealing to a family or for a romantic getaway.

The room was really poor. On the website, it was said that the hotel was open after midnight for the check-in, but when we arrived the staff was really unpleasant and disegreable. In the room, there is just a curtain between the toilets and the bed, which is really annoying. The bed was a disaster and the room was a bit scary... An unpleasant stay!

I know this hotel since 20 years. Before it became an Hipotel, there was a nice couple who were taking care of the hotel, they did a lot of renovation and it was always clean. Now, the staff is not very welcoming and if you're not lucky you'll have a creepy room. If you stay 1 or 2 nights and need something cheap, it's still a good address.

There is no door to the toilet (just curtains) The room smilled like a toilet. Shower curtain was very short and every time i had a shower water leeked into the bathroom/toilet floor (and then into the room). There is no space to store luggage. Walls are really thin and you hear people from other rooms.

We were very dissapoined with the hotel. The website makes you think it is a pittoresque frence hotel, but that is not the case. There was a lot of noise, the garden wasn't finished, there was only a little curtain in front of the toilet! And when we went and asked if we could have a room with a toilet with a door, the man behind the counter said that all the rooms are the same! If you are not close related with the person you're traveling with....Also there was a lot of fungus in the shower and dust in the room. It was very small and it didn't smell nice, like desinfectant...We really didn't like it, we expected something else.... When we arrived the man in the reception wasn't very friendly, while he was helping us he was talking to a friend in the dooropening, not very personel...Luckily we came to see Paris and we didn't spend much time there, also the neigbourhood wasn't very nice....

An OK, clean, newly refurbished room. Fairly large for a cheap French hotel. Room with shower, sink, toilet, folding door to bathroom. Water was hot. There was a water leak on bathroom floor, slow enough to dry with floor towel. The receptionist on duty was gloomy, but competent to take your money and give you the key. The area is what's called the popular quarter of Paris, historically a working-class area, with inexpensive restaurants and cafes compared with tourist areas. Colonel Fabien metro stop just around the corner.

Stayed 8 nights. Poor: room cleaning (never cleaned under the bed); noisy (a kindergarten is opposite the hotel-> a lot of shouting in the morning; bumping of heavy doors (neighbouring rooms, shared WC and entrance door) are awful. Good: metro is near; no problem to catch a taxi near the metro.

If you are on a tight budget and would like to spend more on the tourist places and want to have only a place where you just can sleep and spend a night...then you are at the right place...!! we went in xmas days and the price they quoted was the cheapest we found in overall hotels available in paris.!! The location was very bad..i mean you have to change a lot of tubes for your destination...but the price was quite acceptable for us..! its a good cheap place to stay in paris...after all you are here to enjoy to see the eiffel tower and mona lisa...so why to spend more on hotel...!! :)

Very small room, but we did not mind as we used it purely for sleeping. The room photo on the web shows a room that looks bigger. The shower was very small as well a bit neglected but working. Good location, close to metro. One of the receptionists was unfriendly, did not bother to answer to a greeting. But overall we were happy, clean, quiet a very good price.

This hotel is very basic, an old building, very small rooms, no internal doors, very thin walls. If you can put up with all of that and do without any of the normal hotel services, then this hotel is well located, 2 minutes walk from a metro station and about 1km from the Eurostar station (Gare du Nord).

The price is OK, the location is OK (subway is very near), we found the place quite easily. The - : The room is very small, but it's ok if you stay only a few nights and if you spend the day outside. I benefited of a common bathroom and 1 shower/1 toilets for the floor, not very cool. Plus, the place is not quite, it's like you share everything with the entire floor.

Directions: Get off at the Colonel Fabian metro stop. When you get out of the metro exit, turn left and cross the street. (You should see a cafe.) Turn left again and walk down the sidewalk until you see the street Vicq d'Azir. Turn right. Walk until you see the big blue sign that says "Hipotel." I stayed in the cheapest room possible. The room had a small table with a tablecloth, a decent bed, open closet, extra blanket, a sink, and a towel. No toilet or bath-- there is a shared one for everyone on the same floor. Warning: the toilet is a hole on the floor! I never used the shower so I can't say anything about that. The staff was very helpful and nice! But I have read reviews complaining about the staff. It might be better to try speaking French first. Anyway, in my experience with the staff-- I met three-- they were very kind and smiled at me. The surroundings: it doesn't seem to be a place you can walk freely around at night. Other than that, it is a very interesting place; there is a lot of diversity, many Far Eastern Asians, Tunisian restaurants, and more! Also a lot of internet cafes.

Backpackers, light traveller as the stairs might be quite a hassle if you have big/many luggages. Shower is in 2nd floor while we stayed in 4th floor. You have to get the key (shower) from receptionist and return it after shower. so its a lot of climbing stairs in between. No pillow provided so 'make' your own. The price offer euro29 per night was the reason i choose this place. just take 1 bus (no 46) and you are able to reach Gare du nord in a jiffy. overall it was a good experience. Except maybe they should consider to have shower room on each floor.

If you have happy luggage try to call ahead and make sure you get a room at the lower level. I had to care a fully loaded suitcase up 6 floors and it wasn't fun. On the other hand I could see the tip of the Eifel tower from my window. The stuff doesn't speak English well so be prepared to use whatever bits of French you speak. The blanket is very old and dirty, bed sheet is not clean. towers are not very dry and with smell. Sloppy and bad smell in the room and corridor. Small and uncomfortable shower. Not very far away from Metro, but you have to change lines to go to any sightseeing location.

Just note that when you choose to take a room with an en-suite bathroom, it only includes a toilet and a sink with a mirror - newly renovated and very nice, but you will still have to go shower in the public shower, but there is about one allocated to every block of rooms (normally seven rooms or so). Would still say it's worth paying an extra few Euros so that you have extra facilities in the privacy of your own room.

I would recommend this hotel only to people that look for a place just to sleep. The room was large enough but it was quite cold. The bathroom is really small and is separated from the room by a curtain. The shower is also very small and the water's temperature is not very steady. Overall the hotel is ok if you do not ask too much. What do you want for such prices in Paris?

I stayed alone for two nights in a special-price single room with shared bathroom. First of all, I doubt if there is really a shared bathroom. There is a shared toilet on each floor. The room and the shared toilet are both very small. Fortunately, the cleaness is reliable. And the hotel is a 7-floor old apartment building with wooden stairs and windows even. Therefore, I didn't see the gardon which the picture on web shows. The room is a little noisy but still okay for sleeping. The reception is far from friendly and not always on position. There is free map and voucher in ground floor which is very helpful for traveller. The hotel position is very good, very near to M2 station. It takes less than 20 minutes to take you Louver. General speaking, the hotel may be the cheapest choice for budget traveller in Paris Zone1-2. Its cleanness is satisfactory, but it should be better in other aspects for its price.

Hipotel offers decent sized rooms, with a decent size bathroom with plenty of hot water, also the rooms were always on the warm/hot side, a big plus for visiting Paris in the beginning of December. The rooms were clean and ready upon arrival, and the staff was as decently helpful. The hotel is located in an interesting neighborhood, it is ethnically diverse, making also interesting to explore, and offering decently priced meals, if one likes Asian or Indian food. The most important part is that the metro is about 7 minutes away offering access to all of Paris, although we walked most of the time to really see the city, although it is a bit far to walk to all the main attraction. Overall I recommend this hotel to travelers who are on a budget, or are just passing for a few nights, and I definitely recommend the in room bathroom, as the toilets are located on sort of outside making it late night trips a bit of a wake up, unless of course its summer.

Im a young single traveler so this is pretty much what I had expected for the price (29 euros a night). It was in a good location close to the metro and had an internet cafe and laundry next door. Each floor only had one tiny toilet and mine was disgusting all the time. The shower was two floors down and also very small. I dont think I could have stretched my arms out completely in either direction. It was supposed to cost 2 euros to use but the front desk never collected any money for it. It had plenty of hot water and good water pressure. The staff didnt crack a smile once during my two night stay and didnt speak any English. My private room was a good size. It had a sink, a small mirror, a closet and some hangers. The walls were paper thin though and I could hear the person next to me hanging up their clothes. The bed was comfortable and I was warm enough. Again, pretty much what I expected for the price and location.

The Hotel was close to be the train station Colonel Fabrian. It would be good if the hotel could provide free internet access.

We paid £54 per night,it has a double bed with a long skinny pillow to share, sheets instead of a duvet,no tele or phone which isn't too much bother but what upset me the most was there was not a door on the bathroom but only a curtain.me and my girlfriend are long term, however to pay that price and find only a curtain as privacy in a double room was not suitable. everytime my girlfriend went in there she sent me out the room. one last comment,as much as the hotel want you to use there restaurant next door,to not have a simple kettle and a few tea bags in the room is not very welcoming.

There was no Television in the Room and the passage from the reception to the room was horrible. However, the new renovated place is excellent.

Overall, this hotel was exactly what I expected. The room was basic, but met all my reqirements. It was clean, warm, comfortable mattress, had en suite faciliites (in alcove behind a curtain) with plenty of hot water, and the roooms were cleaned every day. That said, I would also describe the facilitiles as one step up from a good hostel. The walls were paper thin, and there was no common area exept the courtyard. The desk staff were uniformly courteous and helpful. It was close to the metro in a safe neighborhood and the little cafe next door was a slice of old Paris. I would stay there again in a heartbeart, but would not necessarily recommend to my less well-traveled friends. It is excellent value, and anyone under 30 would be thrilled to find such a good deal.

My second time there, the room i got was even better than the one i had before. the room even has a toilet. perfect located 4 minutes walking from the metro stop colonel fabien. the room was clean, just the bed cover had a few stains, but we just removed it. for the price you pay it is for sure the best you can get in paris, and trust me.. i tried a few budget accomodations.

The rooms at Hipotel are very, very basic, and the facilities are limited. There's one shower per floor, and one toilet with no sink to wash your hands, so you have to touch several doors to get to a wash basin. The walls are thin, and it can be noisy. The picture is very misleading, the hotel is not attractive at all. Use this hotel only if you need somewhere to store your stuff and get a few hours rest. However, the area itself is nice, and the people are VERY helpful - just not in the hotel itself - and there are cheap shops and good public transport close by. There are some very good cafes and bars in the vicinity, plus internet cafes, and many residents speak English, unlike in the tourist areas. I would go back, now that I know what to expect, but if you're looking for so much as a kettle in your room, choose somewhere else.

Maybe when all the works that are being done are ready, it will be a nice comfortable place to stay. For the time being, it is just a good place for you to drop off your luggage and wonder around Paris with some insurance that you have a place to return to, at the end of the night.

The ensuite room was actually little more than a cupboard in the bedroom with a shower curtain seperating the two and the smell from the drainage system was foul. The decor of the room was extremly poor and like a diy job not finished - there were gaps where the skirting board was coming away from the walls and the flooring was incomplete in places, likes at the door thresholds. The last straw was when my partner turned on the light above the bed and blew a fuse in the room, throwing all our lights out. When we spoke to reception they visited our room and advised us not to use the plug sockets and then flicked a switch on a fuse box which was in the room to get the lights back on. The bed did not come with proper pillows, just a rolled blanket covered by a sheet and the walls were extremely thin and we were able to hear everything that the guy next door did. Not a very pleasant stay at all and we left early the next morning without using shower all eating. This is the 3rd time I've stayed in Paris and this is by far the worst hotel I have ever stayed in. There were no highlights about this hotel - don't stay here even if you are on a tight budget.

This hotel is not an adequate accomodation, even taking into account the price and central location. However, if a room left uncleaned after the previous guests, a bathroom/toilet without a door, a shower filling with water and leaking into the room, a thick piece of rag for a pillow - if these are ok for you, then you might find your stay here comfortable. Otherwise, stay away.

Exelent hotel for budget stay. The area has enough possibilities to eat for a reasonable price even in Paris. For backpackers or tourists with that attitude it is a great hotel. Friendly personel that is helpfull. Quiet area. We stayed there in september and had no problems with the temperature, but there is no airconditioning. The room and bed were clean. Good place to sleep, if you don't have other demands to a hotel room.

If you are on budget then you can go for it. If not, better choose another hotel. I usually don't believe everything people write about hotel. But this time this all is true. It is small, smells odd, bathroom is almost in the room, located far away etc. My advice is to book hotel in Paris in advance. And you will not have to stay in hotel what is left (as this was in my case) ;)

Hotel was more like a hostel.. bathroom had a curtain (as the door) separating it from room and toilet smelled. Room had window that opened up into courtyard like the web photo showed. If travelling on very tight budget, then good value. Sheets nice and clean!

The staff was friendly and helpful. I didn't expected too much from the hotel and I was right - you got what you paid for. Overall, it was exactly what I needed - a quiet, single room with a small bad and a shower. For 35 Euro/night in Paris, I believe you can't expect more. A plus for the location (really very close to the metro station). Maybe next time I'll save more for the accommodation and I'll search for a more fancy hotel. This time I had a very limited budget so... but it was safe and clean, so a good experience.

Not a place to spend a week in, but just fine for a night or so, very cheap, quite central, close to public transport. If I had to go back to Paris for one night I think I'd go back to Hipotel.

I expected cheap and cheerful, but this place is a complete dive! i strongly recommend you take it off your programme. the room, public areas, especially the shower and toilets were dirty and digusting. the bed was several decades old and accordingly offered very poor comfort. there was no concept of how to make the stay on a hot summer's day comfortable in any way, when a ceiling fan would already have done the trick. i stayed in much better accomodation in this price range and area, so even the value for money aspect doesn't apply. on the up side, there's the nice staff and great surroundings.

Good relationship between price/quality, but if you get a room facing the next door restaurant kitchen, it is noisy from 9 am to 1 am...and you get the smell too. Otherwise, what can you expect at this price more than a clean room with tiny bathroom?
