we paid £54 per night,it has a double bed with a long skinny pillow to share, sheets instead of a duvet,no tele or phone which isn't too much bother but what upset me the most was there was not a door on the bathroom but only a curtain.me and my girlfriend are long term, however to pay that price and find only a curtain as privacy in a double room was not suitable. everytime my girlfriend went in there she sent me out the room. one last comment,as much as the hotel want you to use there restaurant next door,to not have a simple kettle and a few tea bags in the room is not very welcoming.

Overall, this hotel was exactly what I expected. The room was basic, but met all my reqirements. It was clean, warm, comfortable mattress, had en suite faciliites (in alcove behind a curtain) with plenty of hot water, and the roooms were cleaned every day. That said, I would also describe the facilitiles as one step up from a good hostel. The walls were paper thin, and there was no common area exept the courtyard. The desk staff were uniformly courteous and helpful. It was close to the metro in a safe neighborhood and the little cafe next door was a slice of old Paris. I would stay there again in a heartbeart, but would not necessarily recommend to my less well-traveled friends. It is excellent value, and anyone under 30 would be thrilled to find such a good deal.

my second time there, the room i got was even better than the one i had before. the room even has a toilet. perfect located 4 minutes walking from the metro stop colonel fabien. the room was clean, just the bed cover had a few stains, but we just removed it. for the price you pay it is for sure the best you can get in paris, and trust me.. i tried a few budget accomodations.

The rooms at Hipotel are very, very basic, and the facilities are limited. There's one shower per floor, and one toilet with no sink to wash your hands, so you have to touch several doors to get to a wash basin. The walls are thin, and it can be noisy. The picture is very misleading, the hotel is not attractive at all. Use this hotel only if you need somewhere to store your stuff and get a few hours rest. However, the area itself is nice, and the people are VERY helpful - just not in the hotel itself - and there are cheap shops and good public transport close by. There are some very good cafes and bars in the vicinity, plus internet cafes, and many residents speak English, unlike in the tourist areas. I would go back, now that I know what to expect, but if you're looking for so much as a kettle in your room, choose somewhere else.

Maybe when all the works that are being done are ready, it will be a nice comfortable place to stay. For the time being, it is just a good place for you to drop off your luggage and wonder around Paris with some insurance that you have a place to return to, at the end of the night.

The ensuite room was actually little more than a cupboard in the bedroom with a shower curtain seperating the two and the smell from the drainage system was foul. The decor of the room was extremly poor and like a diy job not finished - there were gaps where the skirting board was coming away from the walls and the flooring was incomplete in places, likes at the door thresholds. The last straw was when my partner turned on the light above the bed and blew a fuse in the room, throwing all our lights out. When we spoke to reception they visited our room and advised us not to use the plug sockets and then flicked a switch on a fuse box which was in the room to get the lights back on. The bed did not come with proper pillows, just a rolled blanket covered by a sheet and the walls were extremely thin and we were able to hear everything that the guy next door did. Not a very pleasant stay at all and we left early the next morning without using shower all eating. This is the 3rd time I've stayed in Paris and this is by far the worst hotel I have ever stayed in. There were no highlights about this hotel - don't stay here even if you are on a tight budget.

This hotel is not an adequate accomodation, even taking into account the price and central location. However, if a room left uncleaned after the previous guests, a bathroom/toilet without a door, a shower filling with water and leaking into the room, a thick piece of rag for a pillow - if these are ok for you, then you might find your stay here comfortable. Otherwise, stay away.

Exelent hotel for budget stay. The area has enough possibilities to eat for a reasonable price even in Paris. For backpackers or tourists with that attitude it is a great hotel. Friendly personel that is helpfull. Quiet area. We stayed there in september and had no problems with the temperature, but there is no airconditioning. The room and bed were clean. Good place to sleep, if you don't have other demands to a hotel room.

If you are on budget then you can go for it. If not, better choose another hotel. I usually don't believe everything people write about hotel. But this time this all is true. It is small, smells odd, bathroom is almost in the room, located far away etc. My advice is to book hotel in Paris in advance. And you will not have to stay in hotel what is left (as this was in my case) ;)

The staff was friendly and helpful. I didn't expected too much from the hotel and I was right - you got what you paid for. Overall, it was exactly what I needed - a quiet, single room with a small bad and a shower. For 35 Euro/night in Paris, I believe you can't expect more. A plus for the location (really very close to the metro station). Maybe next time I'll save more for the accommodation and I'll search for a more fancy hotel. This time I had a very limited budget so... but it was safe and clean, so a good experience.

i expected cheap and cheerful, but this place is a complete dive! i strongly recommend you take it off your programme. the room, public areas, especially the shower and toilets were dirty and digusting. the bed was several decades old and accordingly offered very poor comfort. there was no concept of how to make the stay on a hot summer's day comfortable in any way, when a ceiling fan would already have done the trick. i stayed in much better accomodation in this price range and area, so even the value for money aspect doesn't apply. on the up side, there's the nice staff and great surroundings.

Expect standards suiting the price. Avoid in hot summers as rooms don't have aircon/fan/fridge. Also avoid road side rooms as traffic is unbearably loud all night! Family room size was generous while the single room was 4 floors up with no lift (shared squat toilet). No parking in the immediate vicinity (unless you pay 20 a day on parking meter or risk being clamped!) but at 22 a day about 15 mins walk in a safe 24 hr parking house (rate bargainable). Rooms were clean when we took over but they didn't clean the room or change sheets in our 4 nights' stay. Nevertheless, the location is fantastic about 5 mins walk from Metro (with bakery in front of it!).

Cheaper than others hotels in Paris, it is also worse in quality, the bath was dirty and small (the "door" was broken), it had no tv and no air conditioning and the window had no blind... And finally, I had to argue with the receptionist for having my towels changed (he said they change every 3 days :S) Not a good place for enjoying, but if you like ethnic food (it is situated in the "chinatown" of paris) and you don't want to pay much, this is your place. Otherwise, avoid it.

I would never stay in this hotel again. Staff was awful. No helpful at all. Our room was located in the 4th floor (with lots of stairs to climb up) and when we requested to change it and pay the difference, no chance. Plus that, the guy didn't make any efforts to speak english and didn't inform us about a parking lot near to the hotel. Come on, there is a hospital almost in front of the property with public parking. We traveled for 30 days staying in the same hotel classification but I didn't expect to find this one. Never more!

The hotel was more like a hostel. It was adequate but due to the refurbishment there was a lot of noise during the night (especially in the upstairs bedroom). Feels like it was only for French speaking guests. Can't say a word about other receptionists, but contact with the elder one, who, unfortunately, was the one during both check in and check out, was a nightmare. He doesn't speak English and makes no effort to understand you somehow and try to help. This is rather annoying. I never could imagine that a cheap hotel would also mean no English speaking employee rejecting to help in elementary yet necessary things. He speaks no English, he doesn't want to understand you, feels like he enjoys misunderstanding you and suggesting things other than you ask (has nothing to do with what you want, imagine English+French chaos). I was so nervous. The last shock was that I had to stay awake the last night not to miss my flight (I had no phone with me to wake me up), because he let me know he would not be in the hotel at night, but he was there when I was checking out. You know, in a hotel in Athens the knowledge of English was also poor but the staff did its best to fill the gap, something I cannot say about this Paris hotel. Never I would go there again, even for a night. Learn a few English words, hotel employee, and be kind enough to make some gestures to help. Why are you there then, if it feels like no one is there?

I really liked the neighborhood where it was located, and liked the small inner courtyard. Renovation/construction was still taking place, so hopefully more improvements to come. The room was good value for money, the mattress was not very comfortable and the room was basic but adequate. I had a room with a sink in it and shared wc down the hall, showers were elsewhere and cost extra. It's perfect as a budget-short stay accommodation.

The hotel was adorable. I was actually sort of afraid of what it would be like from the reviews and how cheap it was, but our stay at Hipotel was great. The room was surprisingly clean, the outdoor courtyard was nice to hang out in, aside from the bit of construction they seemed to be there, and the staff was very pleasant. It's pretty easy to find off of the Colonel Fabien station, there were plenty of places nearby, and just a short walk from the canal. I'd definitely recommend it. The only downside was that the walls are paper thin, so you can hear people and they can hear you. Our first night there, we were woken up by people having very loud sex above us. Just keep an open mind and try and find humor in the negative aspects.

This was our first time in Paris. The hotel staff couldn't speak a single word of english-they didn't understand anything we asked. He refused to let us pay everytime we tried which we found fishy. We were supposed to have travel passes delived and waiting for us (which were there) but b/c they didn't understand english we had to argue w/them to look for a package (even after a french couple asked for me-they still didn't understand.) The hotel was under construction in the room directly across from ours, which started early in the morning everyday, there was dust & flies everywhere and construction materials scattered all throughout the so-called-garden area. The price was cheap, however I would not receommend this hotel to anyone.

I would like to inform Venere that the hotel is something totally different from the description presented on the web-page. The hotel is in the process of some building - so materials are all around, it's dark and dirty, in the room there was not even a door in the bathroom, just a curtain (in a double room) and this garden you describe - well there is no garden, there is only a place between buildings will garbage and, yes, one or two flowers. And the price was the same as for good hotel, which means very high in this case. If you are interested in presenting people the real information about the hotel I am happy to help you by sending the pictures I made there on 25 May 2009. Don't hesitate to contact me. The first disappointment was the indications to get to the hotel, which were wrong, you have to take line 2 in the opposite direction and this can be confusing specially if it is late and you are tired. The hotel was under heavy refurbishment, so the second impression was even worst. The reception is a very small area and the receptionist was not very friendly (we couldn't leave there our luggage for a couple of hours the last day). The rooms are too small, a double room barely fits. There was no door between the room and the bathroom, just a curtain. No TV, no mini-bar, no internet connection, the ladies forget to clean the room, they don't replace the shower gel, etc., they just leave the towels on the radiators, a lot of noise, the room looks quite dirty (with fungi in the shower) and the toilet is actually chemical: smelly and noisy. The photo of the web-page seems promising but it is just a very good angle of a very small patio with some flowers; we found this patio not accessible by the guests and actually there was no need. The leaflets in the hotel are over-dated, don't trust them. The adjacent bar never have croissants despite they offer them in their breakfast menu, so don't bother to ask for them. The surrounding area is not interesting for tourists, there are just a few restaurants and these are not very welcoming, but in general they are very cheap. The shops in the area are just for foreigners that live in Paris (Chinese mainly), so this area is actually not very French, but on Saturdays there is a small food market in Belleville. I think that if you pay 100 euros more you could obtain much better conditions. I would not recommend this hotel to anyone.

very cheap and affordable and it's close to bus line which goes to the center of the city. But no shower and room is very basic and kind noisy. You get basically what you pay for.

I had to go and book another hotel as this one had no curtains, things falling off the walls, a piece of hardboard for the headboard and awful service. No televisions. Nothing like the website descriptions. I was offered 3 disgraceful rooms, then left. I want my money back!!!

My double room was spotlessly clean, light and airy in modern colors, recently refurbished. It overlooked the courtyard in the website photo and was plenty large enough for 2, although I would suggest a door between bedroom and toilet for sound privacy. After reading some of the reviews, I was pleasantly surprised and will return if I am in Paris again.

Over all a good hotel for the area . The room was clean and had a good shower and bathroom , the floor in the room I stayed in needed some repair but other than a few vynal tiles curling up the room was clean and the maid was very tidy each day. Breakfast would have been nice but not offered and I had no TV in my room.

It is a bad hotel,When I returned to the room and found it closed, on the grounds that I did not pay the night following, noting that the luggage was in the room. I found a red sleep in the room.

the place is really good located, subway (metro) station really near. the rooms are small but if you are under budget this is the perfect place. Just the important things that you need to sleep.

You get what you pay for here. If you plan on spending most of your time away from the hotel room then this place will do. Curtain is in place of a door to the bathroom and that is all there is. Room is very small. But good if you don't plan on spending time in your room (which you shouldn't your in Paris). Hotel is located in Chinatown, with not th greatest surroundings, and a poor selection of stores around the hotel. Proximity to the Metro is fantastic, makes moving throughout the city a breeze. Wouldn't go back, but mainly because I'd like a different perspective of the city. Front desk workers were helpful, and speak enough English to help you with questions.

It is very noisy and not really clean! The beds advertised as "double beds" are in fact just a bit wider single beds. Quite uncomfortable if you want to stay longer. We stayed just for one night - and for that the price was O.K.

The price can't be beat, everything was clean, and the shower in our room was practically brand new. The Hipotel is in a relatively good location, but a bit of a hike from the metro (10-15 minutes) and tourist areas. The hotel seems to be converted from a building of studio or small student apartments into a hotel -- ours had a bit of an odd layout, with the toilet open in the larger of 2 connected rooms. On the other hand, the room was not tiny by euro standards. My husband was kept up at night by people talking in the stairway and then clumping down the stairs early in the morning -- so if you are a light sleeper, beware or bring ear plugs.

I had a close look to the comments made on venere.com concerning this property and I have to admit: I was a little frightened. The good news first: at no point was I feeling uncomfortable with this accomodation! But it certainly was a good idea to keep expectations low. I had a room in ground floor (#64, I think) and it was quite a cute arrangement: there are many doors leading from the foyer to the rooms. The room was small but ok for a single person. Yes, there were marks in the woolen plaids, but not on the bed sheets! The linnen was correct and clean. It is true that there is no bathroom door - so I wouldn't recommend it to couples, only single travellers. But if you are comfortable with that, it should be fine. Shower worked correctly, cold/hot water immediately, toilet flush as well (that was the thing I was most worried about). The cleanliness was ok, though I wouldn't want to walk bare foot. But as I said I was never uncomfortable with the conditions I found. There is work going on at the property next door, but noise was not an inbearable. You should know that in general Paris is not exactly one of the quietest places. Concerning the neighbourhood: I'd only recommend it to young folks, or people who are familiar with this city. The 20th arrondissement is neither a tourist spot nor a particular posh quarter. Chose another hotel if you are completely new to the city or a couple wishing for a romantic holiday (in the latter case: have a look at a Timotel in Montmartre: it is quite cheap as well with a lot lovelier surroundings).

Hotel Hipotel Paris Belleville is exactly what you paid for, a simple room for around 36 euro. I went with my girlfriend and we were welcomed very nicely and we were even given a toilet in our room (we had originally picked a shared bathroom because it was cheaper). The location is okay, there was some construction going on but we barely noticed it and it was a 2 minute walk to/from Colonel Fabien metro so that was very convenient. We only stayed there for 2 nights but I thought it was a fair price for the type of room and Paris is expensive.

Overall, we were happy about the hotel except about the fact that we could'nt leave ours bags for a few hours after our check out.
