Nice hotel, very friendly staff. Rooms are very small, but allright for a sightseeing programme. Good beds. Try to get a room facing the street, not the very small inner courtyard, if you want to have fresh air in your room. Breakfast with a small but sufficient buffet is for french habits really okay! Relation between price and quality is good, especially considering the central but quiet location. We would recommend the house to friends.

Great staff, friendly welcome, fun decor, good value. Hotel was a little dark, no view from the room, back-alley location, but walking distance to major tourist areas. I would stay again.

Excellent location, right next to Chatelet Les Halles metro stop, which has the RER to the CDG airport and it is also a major metro interchange station. Stayed in a triple room, which included two single beds and a day bed. Room is fairly good size for Paris standards. The bathroom fixtures were a bit dated and the wireless internet was not realiable.

We booked a triple for a 7-day vacation and were given a 1st floor (one flight up) room on a small garden. Although it was a bit cramped for two adults and a teenager, the room was very well laid out and (with air conditioning in the summer) a great place to rest up. The building is old, but it has been completely redone in an elegant style. This is a small hotel but most of the staff spoke English and they were very helpful. They even had umbrellas to lend when it was raining. This is a great international area to stay in. There are a lot of restaurants around with all types of food and prices, shops with necessities nearby, and only a few blocks from major museums, a transportation hub just around the corner, etc. Although the hotel is on something of an alley, I felt safe walking on the street at all times of the day or night. The experience booking though Venere was also excellent, no problems, and the information was accurate including the rate.

The location for this hotel is great; it is less than a 30 second walk to a the Cafe Benjamin, which serves great omelettes. It is a 10 min. walk from the Louvre and 15 min. from Notre Dame. Our rate was 177.00 EUROS a night, which is about 60 EUROS a night too much for rooms in this hotel, considering their smallness. The lobby is small & the elevator/lift only holds 2 people and 1 suitcase at a time; also when using the lift, you have to hold the button in or the lift will go to other floors. They have a laptop in the lobby you can use but it disapperas as the evening progresses. They also have a "bar" in the lobby but it is so small, it shares its space with the check-in desk. Our first room was on the 3rd floor. The bathroom was pretty big but the room was small; they got that backwards! The room had a small, but ladies, if you use it, make sure your purse is tiny! They fridge & safe are hidden behing heavy velvet curtains. The room itself was small, very small. We did switch to a room on the 4th floor which had a tiny bathroom & twin beds. It was only marginal larger by maybe 1 foot. If you want room & the ability to walk around then your room, then stay somewhere else. But if you want location, this this is a hotel which is good for it. I am picky aboutmy hotels but for no more than 2-3 nights I would stay at this hotel again.

I was in Paris for two nights only. Hotel DeChampaigne's location was excellent for me. Metro Chatlet was a few steps away. This made it very easy for me to commute to most of the major sights I had planned to visit. Some major sights were within walking distance from the Hotel. The front desk staff were very helpful even though I spoke very little French. All of the staff that I met spoke to me in English. They assisted in giving me excellent directions to the places I wanted to visit. The room was well maintained and clean. The hotel had a historical charm and so did the room. The only negative was the shower area which by my standards was very small. The price I felt was a little on the high side for the room I stayed in, but everything in Paris is expensive. Yes, I would stay at this hotel again and would recommed it to others.

The location is very good for sightseeing and shopping about 15 minutes walking distance to the three major museums. Rooms are small, but very nice. The staff were very friendly and helpful. I shall recomend it to my friends.

It is not quite consistent comparing the quoted price and the qualitify of room. The service which was provided by staff was quite good, but the facilities is too old.

I was in Paris 9 days. The Grand Hotel Dechampaigne was nice and clean. It was a little smaller than the pictures looked, expecially the bathroom and shower which were barely adequate. The noise from the street can be pretty loud even late into the evening, but all in all it is a pleasant place to stay.

Room was small but normal by Paris standards. Quiet considering the area (just off Rue De Rivoli). Location is fantastic for shopping (high street brands such as Replay, Diesel and the rest) and found plenty of good eating and drinking in close proximity. Certainly feels a bit more like the everyday Paris of the Parisens when compared with the Louvre, Eiffel Tower and other sightseeing attractions. Thoroughly enjoyed staying int his part of Paris and the hotel was good if not stand-out in my opinion.

My only suggestion is that the desk staff have more knowledge about good restaurants in Paris. The only suggestions we received were not what we considered to be good restaurants- they were average, at best. Everyone tried their best and were most helpful and polite, I just think they are not well-informed about restaurants- and food is very important to us! We would not hesitate to return!!!

A bit pricey for the room, which was crampted, and the beds were not comfortable, as the mattresses needed to be replaced some time ago There was no shower curtain, which is common in lesser hotels in Europe, but I expected more for the price. The location is great from the overall situation in Paris and easy to get to by RER and Metro, but the immediately surrounding streets (more like alleys) are a bit seedy. Breakfast is way overpriced as well, and not included in the room rate.

Rooms was well decorated and maintained. Room with twin was small. Bathroom very small. Bed sagged. Great lovation. Right near Chatelet metro stop. Overall, an excellent 3* hotel, esspecially for the price. Reception was always attentive and helpful.

The room / hotel was overall very cute and romantic. The only problem was that early in the morning my fiance and I were awaken by delivery trucks down in the street. Then the supermarket across the street used a very noisy pallet jack to bring his product into the store. This happened both mornings we were there about 6 AM. That was way too early for us on vacation. The people who ran the lobby were very friendly and helpful. But because of the early morning noise we would probably try a different hotel when we visit Paris again to be honest.

Good location for the Bourse and Left Bank so we were happy for a business location. Free WiFi although it did not work reliably in my room. Clean/quaint rooms in quiet neighbourhood but did hear the neighbours moving out in the morning although it was not annoying. Rooms are typically small for Paris. Breakfast was continental but there and there are many good restaurants nearby. Chose this over a US style hotel and was happy with the choice - Can recommend for couple, family (with older children) or business and will book again.

We regret to pay that amount for such a poor service a room quality. we ask for a taxi reservation to the front desk. They ask for money in advance and by the day we have to leave they did not make the reservation. Very poor service.

Good location. Just down a side road so nice and quiet although right in the action. Got the room during the August low period so reasonable price and good value for money although when full price it would be too expensive. Nice quaint rooms full of rustic charm with wooden beams, stone walls etc

The staff was great! We love the location! It was near the Louvre, Orsay, Notre Dame, the Seine River and shopping! The room was small but very clean. The only negative issue, I can share was that the hotel was in an alley. The area was very noisy early in the morning due to garbage trucks and delivery trucks. Also there is NO PARKING available. We would definitely stay here again.

The location is very good for sightseeing and shopping. But I am afraid that a room was not enough spacious. This is not an excellent hotel, but surely one of good hotels.

The hotel was very nicely located for sightseeing and very quiet -- almost no noise. However, The room was rather small for two people and was not so clean. There was a spider net on the ceiling. Also, it was not so quite a good view from the window as I expected.

The location was fabulous but the room that we had did not resemble the pictures; our room was smaller and not as nice but it was ok. I didn't realize that breakfast was an additional charge until we checked out.

Hotel staff were very accomodating and friendly (definitely not the reputation of the French toward Americans). Our triple room was cramped, and the manager responded by offering us an available suite at a special price for three nights of our six night stay. Restaurant reservations were cheerfully made, and we felt quite at home with the staff. The continental breakfast at additional cost was spectacular. Location was about 15 minutes walking distance to the three major museums with very convenient subway service also available.
