We loved the Grand Hotel Amelot. The staff were very kind and competent. My son was on antibiotics that needed refrigeration and they were very nice about getting it from the refrigerator whenever I needed it. The hotel was kept extremely clean. I think our bathroom had recently been remodeled - it was beautiful and so clean. The breakfasts were very convenient and good. The location was excellent. Near metro stops and desirable areas, yet on a quiet side street. There is a large grocery store about 2 blocks north on the same street - the wine and cheese are so cheap and so good. There is also a little store at the nearest corner. The only thing that could have improved the hotel were if there were little balconies to sit on at night. For the price, this hotel was amazing!

we stayed in Hotel Amelot for 3 nights in the quadruple room and were very satisfied. The bathroom was quite big and very clean. Our room and its wardrobe were small but for just sleeping was it sufficient. For me was the cleanliness the most important thing. The breakfast was typical french: fresh fruit juice with coffee/hot chocolate/tea, croissant, bread, butter, jams. One of the reception man wasn`t good in English but we arranged it half French/half English. I would recommend this hotel.

The hotel was comfortable and we slept very well. We had a room with two double beds. The location was good and the noise from the street did not disturb us. The breakfast was cheap.

I travel with my family so I shold a triple room. The room is very small. We all can't even walk in the room. We have to step on the beds. I think the room is for 2 people. The bath room is also quite small and there're no soap holder in a shower. The tap was broked. It's not really convenience for us.

One of the front desk attendants did not speak english which I found odd since there was a good English website but he was nice and got a maid that spoke english to help us. The only negative thing was that we paid for 24 hour internet access but the internet was down for a good amount of the day. Great quality for the price and good location to metro and in a good area.

the room was relativly big, and the hotel was on the place where ist should be; well that are the only good things on this hotel, in my view. it was very noisy in the room, so it was not possible to sleep without wax in the ears; the window was locking to a small courtyard, where it was smelling like in a garbage can; in the bathroom it was smelling of mildew, and the shower was only to visit, but not realy to use: very very less water were coming out of them. the room was a rathole. i hated it, but maybe it was the only shit room of the hotel; who knows?

Not the friendliest desk staff, but competent. I stayed with my mom and sister in a tiny triple. A bit dark and cramped, but it's Paris! Nice elevator, decent decor, pretty clean (though not perfect), and plenty of hot water in the modern bathroom. Street noise on the weekend, but we had earplugs and slept pretty well. Nice cafes and stuff nearby; close to metro stops. Nice breakfast for 5 euros. We saw families there with young children, and they seemed happy. I'd recommend it!

The hotel was perfect, nice, clean, homely, welcoming and safe. We had a triple room between 3 girls which wasn't too bad with 1 bathroom. The reception staff were nice, they do mainly speak french but great experience, the staff are really helpful; Rosa and our ‘lovely Monsef.’ The hotel is in a fantastic location with Republique and Bastille within 10 mins walk and 3 metro stations Republique, Chemin Vert, Bastille. Definitely coming back again we had a great time, loved it!

I stayed in Amelot with my friends, we booked the room for 4 people. It was the best Paris 2-star hotel i've ever stayed in (I've stayed in 6 different other hotels before). The room was nice, clean, the bed was very convenient to have a rest after a tiring day, the bathroom was perfect, the staff competent and nice, and even English-speaking. The location is very good - silent street, and still close to metro and to the center. I would definitely recommend Amelot to my friends and will come back again. Thanks for a pleasant stay!

AWFUL!!! Don't do it to yourself! Staff messed up our booking and we had to change rooms during our stay without apology or compensation. The pillows were awful and the beds uncomfortable. Staff were sleazy and made us uncomfortable. Things went missing from our room. There was NO HOT WATER for 2 whole during our stay, everytime we asked for an explanation staff would lie and make excuses ("It'll be on in 10 minutes"). We were conveniently forced to pay for our accommodation up front, so we didn't get a discount even though we defintitely didn't get what we paid for. When I went to complain to the manager he conveniently didn't speak English, even though a couple of days earlier we had conversed easily. Staff were completely incompetent and dissapeared at our time of check out to avoid facing the problem. BE WARNED, DON'T STAY HERE!!!

Made reservations for a family room to house 4 people. Arrived and there were not any family rooms available, they compensated us well and gave us two rooms for the same price which worked out well considering our children are older. Had a few small issues but the hotel staff was awesome at rectifying. I found the staff very friendly and accomodating. The surrounding area is nice and well located for public transportation with several metro and bus's in the close vicinity. The advertised air conditioning is a fan that is very noisy but it is even louder if you turn it off and open the window at least in the summer time when it is hot. Overall for the price, location and what is provided not a bad deal.

For the price you will pay in this hotel and compared to the rest of Paris, this hotel it's fine, the street is not very noisy and the metro stop is just few steps next block and there is a small grocery shop in the corner in case you want some snack or bottle of water etc. The only detail is the room size, but to go to sleep only it's ok

The hotel was very conveniently located close to several Metro stops, the closest being perhaps two blocks away. If you are there on a Thursday morning, there is an open air market about a 5-10 minute walk from the hotel (in the direction of the Bastille Metro) which has fresh produce, specialty foods including various salts, Middle eastern, seafood, meat, poultry, and other prepared food, and cheap to moderately inexpensive clothes (it was colder in Paris than I had thought it would be so I bought a nice little shirt/jacket for 12 euros (when i was waffling, the vendor lowered the price from 15 euros) - made in Paris) and a scarf for 5 euros, as well as products of various kinds (one booth offered sewing machine repairs and had various yarns, sewing notions for sale). Another nice thing about the location is that it's close enough to walk to from as far as the 1st arrondisement if you are out after the Metro is closed and can't afford a taxi. It seems fairly safe at night as there seems to be a lot of clubs/bars still open past 2 in the morning. I wouldn't advise wandering about late at night for a woman travelling alone though (same as any other big city). Our room was relatively clean although i thought my sheets smelled a little funky. The bathroom/shower was clean but you had to be careful not to get water all over the floor (no lip between the shower area and the toilet and sink). I put a sign on our door in french requesting No Housekeeping (I like to wash my clothes and let them airdry so I prefer no housekeeping generally). You need to set up the air conditioner - it's one of those portable ones - run the exhaust pipe out through a hole in the closet. It isn't difficult and it's nice to use because the air in Paris is a bit polluted if you get allergies easily The room, with two twin beds, was actually a decent size, not large but ok for two people with a desk and tv and a nightstand between the beds. Beds were comfortable. It was nice having an elevator as we were on the 4th floor and I had a fractured wrist so couldn't carry much in my right hand. The desk clerk was perfectly fine and when we rolled in late, at our request, ordered us a taxi for 6am the next morning as we had an early train to catch. All in all, I thought it was a great place for the price - conveniently located and safe. We missed the 5 euro breakfasts so I don't know how they were - that's a decent price for breakfast I would say, compared to the places around offering le petit dejeuner. One block away (in the direction away from the Bastille Metro), is a nice Italian cafe - owner was super nice and caffe not bad.

The hotel is in a good location in Paris (near to city centre and different metro stations). The room, the quality of service and kindness of employees are not excellent but I think the hotel is ideal for a brief stay in Paris, taking into account that for this kind of holiday the hotel is only reached an evening/night for sleeping. The price is very good but if you search quality this isn't the hotel you are searching for.

Clean refurbished hotel. Will recommend it because of the price more than the location and service. Staff was not rude but totally unhelpful when searching for addresses or things to do. However, the area seems to be getting better and you are 5 min away from very touristy venues. There are many 2stars hotels with same prices. On this one at least you know you are getting a very quiet and clean room, something that is not always the case.

I have been in Paris several times, but this is my first in a 2 stars hotel. If travelling with a low budget I can recommend the G.H. Amelot with good relationship Quality/Price. You can't obviously expect high standard services and facilities ,but a small room (where cleanliness and spaciousness are not its best qualities) where resting after long walks ... The location is central with 3 Underground stations nearby.I would recommend this hotel to low budget travellers.

The hotel is in an ideal location. It is currently under renovation so many of the corridors have work being done on them. The elevator was new and spacious and always worked which was important to us as my brother-in-law has some arthritis of his knees. I was very satisfied with my room which was immaculately clean and nicely decorated. My sister and her husband found their room to be to warm. There is a cooler in the room but the personel were not very helpful in getting it to function. The dining room is cozy and the breakfast ample. The lobby is small but very nicely decorate. I believe these people are trying to make this hotel a top notch hotel and I am sure it will be delightful when the renovations are done. I personally plan to stay there again especially if I am traveling alone.

When we first arrive, we were told that we would be given 2 double rooms instead of the quad we had reserved. We were travelling with two young children, so we were not pleased. The gentleman at the desk managed to find us a quad room a few moments later, though. The (quite narrow) hotel corridors are under renovation, so we had to climb around some equipment. The room itself was neat, clean, bright and quite a bit better than I expected. Attractively decorated, but not huge. Nice, clean ample sized bathroom. Quite close to a Metro station. A good value for the price. We had a difficult time finding a decent price for a quad room for our family in Paris. Grand Hotel Amelot worked out well for us.

The reception person could not say english, so we have to do a lot of effort to communicate with him. Although the Hotel is near metro station, you still have to transfer many times getting to the location. One of staying days, my friend stayed in room whole day, but no housekeeping service is provided. The room space is little small, and we have trouble walking in the room without closing our luggage. However, according to my friend in Paris, the Amlot is a good hotel comparatively, especially in price and circumstances.

First time in France, Paris and Hotel GrandAmelot. Little dissapointed with style of breakfast as we are more used to the American or British style where breakfast is a big meal. Other than this minor point, we had a good stay in the hotel. It is conveniently located with the St. Sebastien Metro station very close by with good connectivity to Bastille & Gare de Lyon from where we went to Disney or Louvre or the Open Bus. We spent lot of time working this out including how to buy metro or train tickets. Perhaps one thing that the hotel could provide is a small booklet with useful information like the nearest metro, how to buy tickets, nearest supermarket, basic french words for milk, bread etc. We found fran prix to be quite good but found the small branch first opposite St Sebastien metro. Only on last day we found the larger one when you walk down the road after turning left when you come out of the hotel.

Hotel was in a great location close to many metro stations and especially the Bastille area. The room was clean and tidy. It was not very big but if you are only looking for somewhere to sleep at night it was adequate. The breakfast for 5 euros was very good and convenient. The guy in reception was not too charming. On arrival the shower doors in our bathroom would not close. I spoke to the guy in reception about it twice before he finally fixed them. There is a supermarket a couple of doors away and a patisserie round the corner which were both really handy for picking up picnic things. Would recommend this hotel as good value for money in a great location.

We were looking for a reasonably priced room for a family with young children and that is exactly what we found. Even though a number of families stayed at the hotel it was quiet and the staff was very friendly to everybody. My children have Coeliac disease (gluten free diet) and the staff have been very understanding and helpful at breakfast time. It's easy to find your way around and most tourist sites were not too far away.

Despite small room, "not very clean" bathroom and not very friendly staff on arival, we had a great time! Breakfast was good, the surroundings of the hotel also. The entire hotel is being redecorated at this moment, and it looks promising! Might come back someday to check the results.

It was a 1-day stop on the way from Marseilles to Tel Aviv. Convenient location. Quiet and safe environment. Enough places to eat around. Walking distance to Bastille, Marais, Places des Vosges. Metro stations nearby. Basic and very small rooms. Elevator. Reasonable price. All in all, suitable for a short stay.

Never ever have i felt so unwelcome at a reception. After having been to the room and seen tha small bed for 2 I went down again and asked if there were rooms with wider beds, the answear was not yes not no but I want to see your reservation. Then i told the man at the reception that he allready had it as he checked me in 2 minutes earlier. Silence and a no. I went uo to our room and we went to bed. 5 minutes later there was a bang on the door and in burst a maintainance guy, in dirty clothes and with a burning cigarette in his mout (non smoking room) he pulled out a measuringtape measured the wideness of the bed and went out again (us still in bed). I called the reception and asked if we were getting another room since the guy was measuring the bed. No he was not measuring the bed for that purpose but had to know the size of our bed for another room he was putting a ben into. As evereything was fuly booked in Paris we had no choice but to stay. The cleaninglady was perfect both in tidyness as well as she was serviceminded. The lobby was filled with cigarettesmoke since the personell smoked doing their job. All in all NEVER AGAIN "Grand" hotel Amelot

Stayed in a twin which was a double bed plus a single bed in a room really meant for a single bed. The room and hotel were ok, but for the price I expected a little better - the shower head sagged, the room cleaning was patchy (& I had to keep asking for towels & toilet paper) and the paperthin walls meant the bathroom was an interesting place to be! However the continental breakfast was generous, the hotel kept our bags for the day on check out day and the location was great, and it certainly wasn't the worst place I've ever stayed - just not as good value for money as I'd hoped.

I can be hard to fins a hotel with rooms fit for a 4 person family, but at the Amelot Hotel we had nice room at a fair price. We had a really nice stay at the hotel and will recommend it to other. The location is very central but still quiet. We will return to Ameot later - no doubt.

The hotel is well located, near three metro stations. It is also near Bastille. The breakfast was just OK (or poor i would say) but for 5 euros... The room has no pillows and that was unacceptable.

We had great times in Paris. Hotel Grand Hotel Amelot is a OK place to stay if you don't bother of some minor issues. Location of the hotel is very central. You don't need to go far away to find a restaurant or a pub or everything else. Staff was helpfull to guide oss through the Paris even by Metro! Unfortunatly we were in a quad room on the 6th floor, right beside of elevator! It was almost impossible to sleep cas all noises the elevator made and believe me, it worked all the night(s), up and down! The other thing that was annoying, it was the cleaners! They didn't knock! They just opened the door like they supposed all the time that we are not in the room! The last thing I want to mention is TV. There was a TV in our room, but it didn't work. We had no TV during our stay in that hotel. Staff didn't fix the TV, even we asked them to do several times. Any way, we'll consider this hotel as a altenative next time we visit Paris.

it was my first time in paris. it was cool. everything you basicly need you have here. the cleaners should knock and wait for a sign of you in the room and not knock and emidiately enter after knocking. whats the point of doing so.that happend twice. any way for the price i would come back here. havent tried the breakfast though.....

We arrived at the hotel to find that our reservations were cancelled. We had two rooms reserved. After an hour we were able to secure one room in the hotel. After another hour, Hotel Amelot helped us find another room across town (twin instead of double). Hotel Amelot paid for the price difference in the rooms. It was the World Cup of Rugby and a fashion show weekend so there were no rooms available. We were two families travelling together with three small children. Unfortunately we were split up. I stayed at the other hotel so I cannot rate the rooms. Hotel Carlton, where I stayed, was an excellent location and excellent room. Hotel Amelot was also in a good location near Bastille Metro stop.

My family-my wife and 9,7 years old children stayed this hotel for 4 nights. Good location from Gare de Nord station by bus, to Gare de Lyon station and 1 or 2 minutes walk from metro but transfering at Bastille metro station was needed too long walking. Nice staff, old but clean hotel. Weak points were 1)bad air condition(but weather help us so it was not a big deal) 2)computer at reception was not support Korean language, so I can't use it. They serve breakfast very kindly, but breakfast is not too good. If I need 4 beds room, I will choose this hotel.

Grand Hotel Amelot was a great place to stay- we were in a quad room on the 6th floor which was surprisingly roomy, was spotlessly clean and very well located behind the Boulevard Beaumarchais. The man on the desk was a bit grumpy, but polite enough to us [one morning he was shouting at someone on the phone because she had tried to make a reservation when there was no credit on her card]We found it was easier to walk down to Bastille metro station than use St Sebastian Froissart or Richard Lenoir. Also there was a terrific street market on Thurdays, well worth a look. My only real criticism was noisy neighbours- a would be drummer forced us to close the windows a couple of times, but we really enjoyed our stay.

My wife and I stayed at the Amelot for 4 nights. It was actually better than expected, as some reviews were quite negative. The location was ideal and there were a number excellent bars/cafes and restaurants within a couple of minutes walk. The Bastille was a 10 minute walk up the road. There were a couple of metro stations nearby and good shops. Its a good base if your out seeing the sights. Above average 2 star hotel. Only negatives would be the absence of a shower curtain and holder for the shower head. The maid cleaned and dried the bathroom floor every day. Staff spoke reasonable English and were very helpful.

Overall it was a great stay. My only complaint was that I need to purchase a rail ticket to London and would have appreciated the front desk person helping me with this. Instead I was directed to the train station which took 30 minutes by subway 60 round trip and when we got there it was 7:30 pm and just closing!! This was very frustrating. I would have felt better about it had he picked up the phone or got on the internet and told us when they close so we may have taken a taxi!!

We (3 persons) stayed for 3 nights and we were out basically all day long and evening. The hotel did meet my standards because we were looking for a hotel near place de la Bastille and Marais (lively at night) close to Metrò stations, just for sleeping. The bathroom was very small and the double bed too, but it was ok for our needs and they cleaned it everyday, so we could flood it taking showers. Good service, and given prices around, it's better to take the hotel breakfast. Double and single rooms maybe are more spacious, anyway for young people it's really a good accomodation, and no noises at night.

it was very close to the bastille, however, kind of far from everything else. The subway is right down the street, and was only one stop away from the main cross point between all the subways, so it was extremely easily to get around. The room was very nice and spacious, with a large bathroom. Very clean.

The hotel is ramshackle. Bare unsanded wooden floor in the lift, unsanded wooden door jams, very dim lighting. The floor of our room had a definite tilt - you could roll an egg from one side of the room to the other! This was the cause of much vertigo. Rue Amelot is a very dirty street, rubbish everywhere. Service was ok, but a bit vague. Would recommend for the good price but only to a traveller who didn't care where they stayed.
