We got an excellent deal for a weekend. The room was small but quiet and clean and the bed was comfortable. The hotel staff are low-key but helpful. The location is excellent - quiet side street, but five minutes' walk to nearest metro station, and a ten minute walk to the Marais or the Bastille areas. I would recommend this hotels to couples, friends or families who want a handy base for sightseeing.

The hotel staff was not particularly knowledgeable. After getting several pieces of incorrect information, I quit relying on them. They probably should know more, like where museum passes can be purchased (the information on that was just wrong), or they should say that they don't know. In general, they don't know. I would not recommend this hotel to someone who had never been to Paris. I would, however, book this hotel again.

Simple, correct hotel. Bathroom is ok but some small reparations would help a lot. Internet is indeed available but unfortunately not free (2 euro for 2 hours, expensive to check your mails - full day rate 3,5 euro). Breakfast OK Location OK, many restaurants close by.

Maybe the room could have been a little bigger. we were 4 people (2 adults, 2 children 10 and 12). there were a total absence of hooks on the walls, which made it impossible to dry clothes.

Relatively small, quiet hotel conveniently situated close to 2 metro stations in a quiet, area of Paris. The room was basic, but clean and tidy and well maintained. Room was adequate for a family of 4 (2 adults and 2 children) staying for a few days, but would have been cramped if we were staying for quite a long time. Ideal as a base for exploring the city and would definitely return on our next visit to Paris!

The Hotel was good value for money. It was bit noisy at night but this is depending on where your room is located. The location was very much ideal to travel by metro train to points of interest. There was free car parking available in the weekend which was not mentioned on website. There are a lots of eating places near the hotel. The continental breakfast provided by the hotel was good.

We stayed here for 5 nights. It would have been nice to be notified that renovations were happening to the front of the building. It would have made it easier to find. The renovations did not cause noise or problems at the hotel. The room was clean and is the typical european size. Breakfast was okay -- but not enough to eat there more than once. The hotel did have a lift.

Been to Paris few times before and this hotel had one of the biggest rooms i've seen in the city so far and so was the bathroom(spaceous and clean). However, missed a coffee in the room or at least a small welcoming gift.... Elsewise, service was great and so was the location.

We enjoyed our week stay at this hotel. Nice size room and bath (we booked a room for 4). During our stay our room was cleaned and we recieved fresh towels each day. Location was great. Market nearby, and pastry shop on corner. Our only issue was at check-in. Desk clerk was unwilling to communicate with us. Told us to wait 2 hours for English speaking clerk. We assumed he did not want to put up with our broken French. We waited 2 hours but eventually he gave us our room. That was the only hiccup in an otherwise pleasant stay. We did not eat at the hotel, instead we tried the nearby cafes. The WiFi connection did not work all of the time. None of those issues would prevent me from returning.

The rooms were very small and the room was advertised as air-conditioned which did not work well. It was a swamp cooler, which did not cool the room at all. The breckfast was minimal and it was much better to eat at a local cafe. I would not recommend for summer months, but Fall or Spring would be okay for price. The rooms were freshly painted, but the bedding was old with holes. The mattresses were comfortable and the location was close to metro and Bastile area. There were local cafes that were good and particulary Paris Bistro Amelot we returned to three evenings. The desk staff was nice.

Very small room, this was, however, not a problem for us as we both are small ladies. Would guess though that a person sized 185+ would have problems in the tiny-tiny bathroom. Perfect location, just footsteps from the vibrating Marais district and Bastille.

Really very small quadruple - but clean and quiet, at least when windows were closed. Two grand-lits and not much space or other furniture - but if you don´t plan to spend a lot of time indoors it´s a good choice at a resonable price. Staff very friendly but not all of them English-speaking. Nice area to stay in!

The walls between rooms are very thin. As a consequence, whether you have a quiet room or not very much depends on your neighbours (we were lucky three out of four nights). The rooms are very small but completely sufficient if you are in Paris to explore the city. The location of the hotel is superb: transportation and some major sights are available within easy walking distance, and the quarter itself (the "Marais") is one of the most atmospheric parts of the city. Check out the "Boukhara", the tiny Uzbek restaurant nearby (also rue Amelot)! Delicious!

Great location, near the metro, very close to the Marais, yet in a reasonably quiet street. Very good price-quality ratio. Didnt like the small beds: they were not a queen or full bed even when moved together. Make sure you get a real bed. Also the phone-shower was not particularly useful.

I stayed in a double and had a triple for my adult children and one child. The room was great for the price. The metro wasnt too far away and with that you have access to all the landmarks. Bit complicated the ticketing in the booths but go to one of the kiosks. The administrator said he couldnt speak English but we managed to understand eachother. Good fun anyway muddling around. I would stay there again/

Quad room was compact but fine for sharing with young kids not much space but then we were only there to sleep. Room and ensuite were clean and warm. Breakfast was great value at only Eur 5 extra per person, well worth it. Good location near metro, a couple of small reasonably priced restaurants and a small supermarket.

Hi everybody, I strongly recommend this hotel. The price and the service is great. It's very close to the metro station, easy to find it when u get out from metro. We we 13 people, 3 teachers and 10 students. we all liked the place, rooms were clean, a bit small but ok if u don't spend much time in the room. The breakfast was wonderful.5 euros and everything u can expect was on the table.the staff speak english and help with everything. If I go to Paris again ı'll stay there for sure:)

We loved the Grand Hotel Amelot. The staff were very kind and competent. My son was on antibiotics that needed refrigeration and they were very nice about getting it from the refrigerator whenever I needed it. The hotel was kept extremely clean. I think our bathroom had recently been remodeled - it was beautiful and so clean. The breakfasts were very convenient and good. The location was excellent. Near metro stops and desirable areas, yet on a quiet side street. There is a large grocery store about 2 blocks north on the same street - the wine and cheese are so cheap and so good. There is also a little store at the nearest corner. The only thing that could have improved the hotel were if there were little balconies to sit on at night. For the price, this hotel was amazing!

We stayed in Hotel Amelot for 3 nights in the quadruple room and were very satisfied. The bathroom was quite big and very clean. Our room and its wardrobe were small but for just sleeping was it sufficient. For me was the cleanliness the most important thing. The breakfast was typical french: fresh fruit juice with coffee/hot chocolate/tea, croissant, bread, butter, jams. One of the reception man wasn`t good in English but we arranged it half French/half English. I would recommend this hotel.

Situation trè s intéressante, à 3 min du métro, proximité de la bastille. Accueil limité à "bonjour - chambre xxx 1er étage". One of the front desk attendants did not speak english which I found odd since there was a good English website but he was nice and got a maid that spoke english to help us. The room was relativly big, and the hotel was on the place where ist should be; well that are the only good things on this hotel, in my view. it was very noisy in the room, so it was not possible to sleep without wax in the ears; the window was locking to a small courtyard, where it was smelling like in a garbage can; in the bathroom it was smelling of mildew, and the shower was only to visit, but not realy to use: very very less water were coming out of them. the room was a rathole. i hated it, but maybe it was the only shit room of the hotel; who knows?

Not the friendliest desk staff, but competent. I stayed with my mom and sister in a tiny triple. A bit dark and cramped, but it's Paris! Nice elevator, decent decor, pretty clean (though not perfect), and plenty of hot water in the modern bathroom. Street noise on the weekend, but we had earplugs and slept pretty well. Nice cafes and stuff nearby; close to metro stops. Nice breakfast for 5 euros. We saw families there with young children, and they seemed happy. I'd recommend it!

I stayed in Amelot with my friends, we booked the room for 4 people. It was the best Paris 2-star hotel i've ever stayed in (I've stayed in 6 different other hotels before). The room was nice, clean, the bed was very convenient to have a rest after a tiring day, the bathroom was perfect, the staff competent and nice, and even English-speaking. AWFUL!!! Don't do it to yourself! Staff messed up our booking and we had to change rooms during our stay without apology or compensation. The pillows were awful and the beds uncomfortable. Staff were sleazy and made us uncomfortable. Things went missing from our room. There was NO HOT WATER for 2 whole during our stay, everytime we asked for an explanation staff would lie and make excuses ("It'll be on in 10 minutes"). We were conveniently forced to pay for our accommodation up front, so we didn't get a discount even though we defintitely didn't get what we paid for. When I went to complain to the manager he conveniently didn't speak English, even though a couple of days earlier we had conversed easily. Staff were completely incompetent and dissapeared at our time of check out to avoid facing the problem. BE WARNED, DON'T STAY HERE!!!

Made reservations for a family room to house 4 people. Arrived and there were not any family rooms available, they compensated us well and gave us two rooms for the same price which worked out well considering our children are older. Had a few small issues but the hotel staff was awesome at rectifying. I found the staff very friendly and accomodating. The surrounding area is nice and well located for public transportation with several metro and bus's in the close vicinity. The advertised air conditioning is a fan that is very noisy but it is even louder if you turn it off and open the window at least in the summer time when it is hot. Overall for the price, location and what is provided not a bad deal.

For the price you will pay in this hotel and compared to the rest of Paris, this hotel it's fine, the street is not very noisy and the metro stop is just few steps next block and there is a small grocery shop in the corner in case you want some snack or bottle of water etc. The only detail is the room size, but to go to sleep only it's ok

The hotel was very conveniently located close to several Metro stops, the closest being perhaps two blocks away. If you are there on a Thursday morning, there is an open air market about a 5-10 minute walk from the hotel (in the direction of the Bastille Metro) which has fresh produce, specialty foods including various salts, Middle eastern, seafood, meat, poultry, and other prepared food, and cheap to moderately inexpensive clothes (it was colder in Paris than I had thought it would be so I bought a nice little shirt/jacket for 12 euros (when i was waffling, the vendor lowered the price from 15 euros) - made in Paris) and a scarf for 5 euros, as well as products of various kinds (one booth offered sewing machine repairs and had various yarns, sewing notions for sale). Another nice thing about the location is that it's close enough to walk to from as far as the 1st arrondisement if you are out after the Metro is closed and can't afford a taxi. It seems fairly safe at night as there seems to be a lot of clubs/bars still open past 2 in the morning. I wouldn't advise wandering about late at night for a woman travelling alone though (same as any other big city). Our room was relatively clean although i thought my sheets smelled a little funky. The bathroom/shower was clean but you had to be careful not to get water all over the floor (no lip between the shower area and the toilet and sink). I put a sign on our door in french requesting No Housekeeping (I like to wash my clothes and let them airdry so I prefer no housekeeping generally). You need to set up the air conditioner - it's one of those portable ones - run the exhaust pipe out through a hole in the closet. It isn't difficult and it's nice to use because the air in Paris is a bit polluted if you get allergies easily The room, with two twin beds, was actually a decent size, not large but ok for two people with a desk and tv and a nightstand between the beds. Beds were comfortable. It was nice having an elevator as we were on the 4th floor and I had a fractured wrist so couldn't carry much in my right hand. The desk clerk was perfectly fine and when we rolled in late, at our request, ordered us a taxi for 6am the next morning as we had an early train to catch. All in all, I thought it was a great place for the price - conveniently located and safe. We missed the 5 euro breakfasts so I don't know how they were - that's a decent price for breakfast I would say, compared to the places around offering le petit dejeuner. One block away (in the direction away from the Bastille Metro), is a nice Italian cafe - owner was super nice and caffe not bad.

Nice place to stay and good location to visit Paris. Metro station is very close and also the Bastilla square and city centre are at walking distance. Rooms are big enough, big bathroom and clean. Price is good and quality too! Raccomended.

We were very pleased with our experience. Our room accomodated 2 adults and 2 teenagers. The room was clean, beds were comfortable. The location is close to the metro. Checkin and checkout was easy. A very good bargain.

The main problem was the bed, it was covered with a plastic sheath, something really unconfortable particularly in summer. The plastic was making the bed unconfortable and the linen was only partially covering the bed. A sensation of uncleaness when going to bed.

The shower door was broken. We were able to fix it, but the man at the desk wasn't very accommodating when we asked for extra towels since the shower had leaked before we were able to fix it.

The hotel is in a good location in Paris (near to city centre and different metro stations). The room, the quality of service and kindness of employees are not excellent but I think the hotel is ideal for a brief stay in Paris, taking into account that for this kind of holiday the hotel is only reached an evening/night for sleeping. The price is very good but if you search quality this isn't the hotel you are searching for.

Clean refurbished hotel. Will recommend it because of the price more than the location and service. Staff was not rude but totally unhelpful when searching for addresses or things to do. However, the area seems to be getting better and you are 5 min away from very touristy venues. There are many 2stars hotels with same prices. On this one at least you know you are getting a very quiet and clean room, something that is not always the case.

There was some considerable difficulty in paying the bill as their card machine did not work and they refused to accept Travelers Cheques! They were not very helpful at all. The breakfast although plentiful, was not good. The coffee was stewed and the juice was not 'fresh pressed'.

I have been in Paris several times, but this is my first in a 2 stars hotel. If travelling with a low budget I can recommend the G.H. Amelot with good relationship Quality/Price. You can't obviously expect high standard services and facilities ,but a small room (where cleanliness and spaciousness are not its best qualities) where resting after long walks ... The location is central with 3 Underground stations nearby.I would recommend this hotel to low budget travellers.

La ubicacion del hotel es excelente. La habitación es bien pequeña pero suficiente para descansar por la noche aunque el servicio de la limpieza considero debe reforzarse.

With venere I've been to Spain, England, Germany, Italy, Czech Republic, Hungary, Greece and I have never experienced a worse service as the one in Grand Amelot Hotel. The problem is not that the staff can't speak english, the real problem is that they are not polite at all, bursting into rooms, unable to talk and solve minor problems etc. That was my experience. I hope that whoever decides to go to this hotel can have bettter luck...

If they could only have English speaking reception desk (they spoke partially-and a bit happier to see you), change sheets and have a fridge the hotel would go 2 stars up!!Overall it was as discribed, nice area with bars, bracheries and restaurants, big bathroom, near to 2 metro stations and city centre!!Totally worth it!!!

The hotel is in an ideal location. It is currently under renovation so many of the corridors have work being done on them. The elevator was new and spacious and always worked which was important to us as my brother-in-law has some arthritis of his knees. I was very satisfied with my room which was immaculately clean and nicely decorated. My sister and her husband found their room to be to warm. There is a cooler in the room but the personel were not very helpful in getting it to function. The dining room is cozy and the breakfast ample. The lobby is small but very nicely decorate. I believe these people are trying to make this hotel a top notch hotel and I am sure it will be delightful when the renovations are done. I personally plan to stay there again especially if I am traveling alone.

When we first arrive, we were told that we would be given 2 double rooms instead of the quad we had reserved. We were travelling with two young children, so we were not pleased. The gentleman at the desk managed to find us a quad room a few moments later, though. The (quite narrow) hotel corridors are under renovation, so we had to climb around some equipment. The room itself was neat, clean, bright and quite a bit better than I expected. Attractively decorated, but not huge. Nice, clean ample sized bathroom. Quite close to a Metro station. A good value for the price. We had a difficult time finding a decent price for a quad room for our family in Paris. Grand Hotel Amelot worked out well for us.

CREDO CHE LA RECEPTION CI ABBIA RISERVATO LA PEGGIORE STANZA DELL'HOTEL (105): SPAZIO INESISTENTE, BAGNO RUGGINE, MOBILI ROTTI, LETTO SPORCO E LENZUOLA ROTTE. HANNO ANCHE CERCATO DI ADDEBITARCI UNA COLAZIONE INESISTENTE. NON CI RITORNEREMO MAI PIU'.

The clerk said that I didn't book the room, however I have finished the booking process. Fortunately, they still have available rooms, and provide us the same price as webside. The reception person could not say english, so we have to do a lot of effort to communicate with him. Although the Hotel is near metro station, you still have to transfer many times getting to the location. One of staying days, my friend stayed in room whole day, but no housekeeping service is provided. The room space is little small, and we have trouble walking in the room without closing our luggage. However, according to my friend in Paris, the Amlot is a good hotel comparatively, especially in price and circumstances.

First time in France, Paris and Hotel GrandAmelot. Little dissapointed with style of breakfast as we are more used to the American or British style where breakfast is a big meal. Other than this minor point, we had a good stay in the hotel. It is conveniently located with the St. Sebastien Metro station very close by with good connectivity to Bastille & Gare de Lyon from where we went to Disney or Louvre or the Open Bus. We spent lot of time working this out including how to buy metro or train tickets. Perhaps one thing that the hotel could provide is a small booklet with useful information like the nearest metro, how to buy tickets, nearest supermarket, basic french words for milk, bread etc. We found fran prix to be quite good but found the small branch first opposite St Sebastien metro. Only on last day we found the larger one when you walk down the road after turning left when you come out of the hotel.

The hotel is set in a quaint, typical Paris nieghborhood. It was the perfect choice for our family. The top floor room was small but adequate and our bathroom had been recently updated. There was a problem with obtaining internet access, but the staff quickly got help with a solution.

Hotel was in a great location close to many metro stations and especially the Bastille area. The room was clean and tidy. It was not very big but if you are only looking for somewhere to sleep at night it was adequate. The breakfast for 5 euros was very good and convenient. The guy in reception was not too charming. On arrival the shower doors in our bathroom would not close. I spoke to the guy in reception about it twice before he finally fixed them. There is a supermarket a couple of doors away and a patisserie round the corner which were both really handy for picking up picnic things. Would recommend this hotel as good value for money in a great location.

We were looking for a reasonably priced room for a family with young children and that is exactly what we found. Even though a number of families stayed at the hotel it was quiet and the staff was very friendly to everybody. My children have Coeliac disease (gluten free diet) and the staff have been very understanding and helpful at breakfast time. It's easy to find your way around and most tourist sites were not too far away.
