1. The hotel is only 5 min. away on foot from Gare de l'Est, a big, clean and convenient train station and a major public transportation hub, so there is no need to go down to the Jacques Bonsergent subway station as indicated in the hotel description. 2. No hearty brakfast: coffee, tea, milk, orange juice and water to drink, and buns, butter, jam, honey, spread cheese, yoghurt and cereals to eat. No omelette, no cold cuts, no real cheese, no sliced bread... and this at EUR 8.80? You can eat a spendid breakfast 5 minutes away at Gare de l'Est for the same or less money! 3. No English: only the nice lady at the reception that welcomed us the first day spoke English, the staff do not speak English nor have much communicating skills, but are nice nevertheless. 4. The repair of the hotel is such that it is beyond me how it could get a star rating, let alone 3 stars! The entrance is nice, but rooms and bathrooms are run-down and almost squalid. The staff keeps them clean, though, as best they can. 5. The location is a 5-minute walk away from the extremely conventient (shops, cafes, kiosks, post office, toilettes...) major traffic hub of Gare de l'Est, and only about 10 minutes walk from another traffic hub and a lively place called La Place de la Republique. Traffic connections are excellent. The neighbourhood seems quite safe, with pronounced predominance of kebab-bistrots.

Great stay. I would definitely stay here again. Rooms were clean, staff were pleasant and helpful. Price of breakfast was quite expensive for what was received. I would recommend Est Hotel to anyone expecting 3 star accommodations in a 3 star hotel.

First impressions about surroundings around hotel wasn't impressive, we got out from the metro and we got surrounded by people who want to sell you something, and one even grabbed my shoulder but that's only at night time. Hotel itself is even better then we expected, rooms clean, helpful staff. Excellent value for money. Recommending!

It was well located - easy to reach from the Gard du Nord for Eurostar. Metro stations were nearby and Place de Republique with several restaurants was an easy stroll. The room was fairly small but this is unsurprising for Paris given the price and it was therefore still good value

The room is expected for the price, however we liked the proximity of the hotel to both Gare du Nord and Gare el Est, which made our train trips much, much convenient. Our first room had the back view and was quiet. It was small for 3 single beds and the bathroom was also too small. We managed to change to a different room which faced the Magenta Boulevard. It was much bigger and more appealing. The neighborhood is ok to me as there were many halal kebab eateries around and we could buy fruits from St. Quentin market nearby. We didn't venture into the other areas as we spent our time getting on the metro to visit the tourist spots. If you have a budget it's all right to stay in this hotel.

Est Hotel was perfect for us. Clean rooms, nice staff (great English), and good advice for places to go. Location isn't an issue since the Gare de l'est is literally a few feet from the hotel. Only thing that was different was not having a shower curtain in the bathroom but besides that everything else was great.

Good location for this hotel - between Gare de l'Est and Jaques Bonsargeant metro with buses running up and down the street. Also shops and cafes, boulangeries nearby. It's a fairly long walk to get to the central bits of Paris that most tourists are interested in, but the metro's cheap and quick, so no problem. There seem to have been some unwarranted bad reviews for this place - our room was spacious, on a side street so not too noisy, with an ensuite shower room & toilet (which, in Paris and for this price is a big bonus), TV with loads of channels (if you want to stay in and watch TV...), we never heard people in the adjacent rooms and the lift, although small, works. Also, it was cleaned daily. Sure, in Paris customer service is far from top of the staff's priorities, but there were no problems checking in or out and there is always someone at the desk, 24 hours a day. Unfortunately, Paris just is expensive for what you get, but I'd say this place had a pretty good service : price ratio.

Well we were 3 people and it was a bad stay, first room was way too small it should never of been for 3 people near elevator you get the draft, room should be for 1 person may be. no shower curtans no hair dryer. requested a wake up call never happened. internet and breakfast pricy. the good thing about the hotel is location not far from the metro. I did book 3 nights but stayed 2 night and i hope to get credit for that night if its possible.

Relatively good location, but the room was small, dirty and noisy (it was impossible to sleep). On top of all that, after a long day of city sightseeing, when we return to the hotel, we found our luggages opened and messy and our money was missing. Notice that only dollars and brazilian money were robbed, probably in a hope that we wouldn't missy it anytime soon... The Hotel did nothing about it, asserting it had no responsability and suggesting it was impossible to control everybody to went in and out the building and their moves inside the hotel... Unbelievable!

The customer service is TERRIBLE. We were unable to make it to the hotel because our flight was cancelled due to weather conditions. I contacted the hotel immediately telling them that we were not going to arrive. I asked them if it was at all possible to get a refund for at least one night and they refused to do so because I booked a special rate.... I underdstand that if you cancel because you just don't feel like going, they won't refund you, but given the situation and knowing that the snow was making it impossible to arrive to Paris, I expected the Hotel to be a little more understanding since we also had to incur in extra nights of hotel in Dublin because our flight was cancelled. The customer service was terrible...

Highly rated as the budget hotel it is. This is not a purpose-built modern hotel with marble bathrooms etc. Rather, it is a basic but perfectly adequate place with excellent friendly, happy staff (who speak English). Our front facing room balcony looked through the trees in the street, which was nice. I found the room and bathroom clean and the essentials were provided (shampoo, clean towels) but don't expect shoe-shining or sewing kits. TV worked ok. The location is EXCELLENT! Very close to Gares du Nord & Est and right opposite Rue De Vinaigreses which leads through to St Martin canal area and has some nice restaurants (some cheap n cheerful, just like the hotel).

The furniture is really old fashioned, the TV very small and only 12 TV stations are working. You have to pay for the breakfast (8 euro) and internet (4 euro for 2h or 10 euro for 24h). We spent 4 nights in Est hotel and I think the hotel has a great relationship between price and quality (especially for Paris that's a very expensive town). The staff (even if not everyone speaks english) is very welcoming (for instance when we asked for more towels and the hairdryer, they give us everything). The room has been cleaned everyday; for the price I think that the standard tarif is a little expensive respect the hotel (I mean, even if it is clean and well-served by metro service, the hotel is not a superior class and its sorroundings are not too nice especially after 23:30) but we booked it with a special offer (4 night 260 euros) so we're satisfied for the quality/price. Paris is wonderful and if you want a clean hotel only for sleeping the night hotel est can be your choice!

I have only one complaint which I'm not sure is the issue with the hotel. I asked the front desk to call a cab to take us to the airport. The cab driver was incompetent - did not know that the road (A-1) to the airport was closed, thereby requiring a 1/2 hour detour and a lot of money. He spoke no English at all and charged us more than the meter read. I don't know if this is the cab company the hotel always uses, but if it is they should reevaluate.

I stayed in this hotel for 3 nights. The first sight I had was a dog, yes a dog wondering around the lobby area. The staff has water and food for the hound, however, when one is eating the dog tends to hover around to see if he can catch a bite from you. This is no 3 star hotel, it is OLD! extremely old, the last renovation was probably done in 1920. The cleanliness of the rooms is poor, the first room we were in smelled like sewage, the second one had a old mop smell. One of the staff members was very rude to me for just asking a question, basically if we could change rooms, the answer was a simple tomorrow but she went ahead and repremended me for asking to late in the afternoon. I visited 11 cities in Europe and have been in over 17 countries around the world and can trully say this is the worst hotel ever in my life. Would NEVER stay there again.

Not a 3 star hotel, maybe a 1 star. Peoples standards must be very low in life to rate this hotel at 7. Very old, small room with little old furniture- no place to put luggage, no mirror in bedroom, no decent hangers to hang cloths,no shampoo, shower cap, tissue or extras that a 3 star hotel offers. Wireless internet access cost an extra 10 euros a day and most other hotels include it in the price of the room.Could not open window because it hit the bed on one side and the closet door hit the bed on the other side. Room had a small desk with one small chair.Carpet was awful looking-navy with many colors, so you could not tell how clean it was. Bathroom had a small half tub with hand held shower & no shower curtain, pedestal sink had no room to hold bathroom items, only one towel bar so you had to put wet towels with dry towels. Hotel on a busy Boulevard Magenta, noisy all night. Did not look forward to return to the room after a long day of touring Paris.Overall not worth the 70 euros paid. Would not stay at this hotel again.

Everything was very nice. Although, it was two single beds in a slightly small double room. The bathroom, towels and the bed linen, all very clean. Check-in and Check-out was super-easy. There are atleast three mini-supermarkets nearby, where water, juice, snack items, fruits etc., are easily available and also some cafes and restaurants. A nice hotel for short stays and for people without major expectations. The room was clean and quite small. Everything inside the room was working properly, except for the fact that you could easily hear the sound coming from the other rooms. The hotel surroundings are OK, just that there are lots of people that travel by train in the hotel vicinities due to its location close to Gare de L'est and Gare de Nord. Also, please try not to eat at the Indian Restaurant that is located next to the hotel entrance, it serves the worse Indian food we ever had.

I found the Est Hotel to be just as described in online descriptions. The room and bathroom were quite small but neat and clean, just right for a place to lay your head after a full day of sight-seeing. Nothing fancy but very satisfactory. One down side, there was no free internet but there was an internet cafe literally two minutes walk away. Another plus, both Gare de Nord and Gare de Est are within walking distance, the primary reason we stayed there. Oh, in our room, there was only a tub, no shower. Not sure if that is true of all the rooms.

The Est Hotel is probably average for Parisian hotels in that price range (small rooms, located out by the North and East train stations). But the service was excellent. We arrived exhausted from an overnight flight at 1000. Check-in time was not until 1400, but the desk clerk managed to get us a room right away that had just been cleaned. The clerks directed us to ATM's, the Metro, grocery stores, and later arranged a taxi to take our family of four back to the airport. They were wonderful. We had two rooms. Both were clean. One at the back was very quiet. The other near the front had traffic noise, but no noise from late-night cafes or people. Walls were thin, but people observed the sign to be quiet after 2200, so no problems there. I would stay there again.

Excellent hotel for Paris : rooms bigger than usual for this kind of turist hotel. Good location, quiet despite the traffic on the big road and the best option we found so far in the area. As I know Paris quite well I did not need to ask for the staff help /advice and did not check their language skills as I speak fluent French, all I could say is that they were ok and extremely polite.

Personel was very efficient. As soon as we made our chack in they handed us a map for Paris & showed us the hotel location on the map. They also gave us efficient directions in Paris. Very clean room. The bathroom was small but clean & efficient. Very good location of the hotel neer the Gare de l'Est from which we took the metro for any other place in Paris. We did not try the breakfast at the hotel. There are vending machines in the reception for drinks & snaks if needed. There are also supermarkets near the hotel in addition to a lot of cafes & restorants.

Ci tornerei.
