I found the Est Hotel to be just as described in online descriptions. The room and bathroom were quite small but neat and clean, just right for a place to lay your head after a full day of sight-seeing. Nothing fancy but very satisfactory. One down side, there was no free internet but there was an internet cafe literally two minutes walk away. Another plus, both Gare de Nord and Gare de Est are within walking distance, the primary reason we stayed there. Oh, in our room, there was only a tub, no shower. Not sure if that is true of all the rooms.

Quality vs Price for breakfast should be improuved. In IBIS hotel, beakfast price is about 8,5 € and there are plenty of products such as: self made tea, yogurts, ham, vienoiseries, cheese, sevarl sorts of bread....

The Est Hotel is probably average for Parisian hotels in that price range (small rooms, located out by the North and East train stations). But the service was excellent. We arrived exhausted from an overnight flight at 1000. Check-in time was not until 1400, but the desk clerk managed to get us a room right away that had just been cleaned. The clerks directed us to ATM's, the Metro, grocery stores, and later arranged a taxi to take our family of four back to the airport. They were wonderful. We had two rooms. Both were clean. One at the back was very quiet. The other near the front had traffic noise, but no noise from late-night cafes or people. Walls were thin, but people observed the sign to be quiet after 2200, so no problems there. I would stay there again.

Excellent hotel for Paris : rooms bigger than usual for this kind of turist hotel. Good location, quiet despite the traffic on the big road and the best option we found so far in the area. As I know Paris quite well I did not need to ask for the staff help /advice and did not check their language skills as I speak fluent French, all I could say is that they were ok and extremely polite.

Personel was very efficient. As soon as we made our chack in they handed us a map for Paris & showed us the hotel location on the map. They also gave us efficient directions in Paris. Very clean room. The bathroom was small but clean & efficient. Very good location of the hotel neer the Gare de l'Est from which we took the metro for any other place in Paris. We did not try the breakfast at the hotel. There are vending machines in the reception for drinks & snaks if needed. There are also supermarkets near the hotel in addition to a lot of cafes & restorants.

Although there's internet access in lobby, it's too expensive: 4 euros per 2 hours. The hotel really looks old and needs a good refurbishment. If you want a glamorous visit to Paris, that's not the hotel you'll looking for. I've been there with my parents after having stayed in good hotels with the same price (around 100 euros per triple room) in other places. The character was shocking, and the piece that holds the shower (water outlet) above your head was broken, so it was necessary to hold it with your hands during the whole shower. Someway, an inconvenient for old people of for who's used to comfort. But if you are used to travel staying at cheap Hostels (like me), you'll find it ok. Breakfast is 7 euros!!! In Gare de l'est station you'll find cheap breakfast combo (like 3 euros) in a store called "Casino". And definetlly do not ask them to recomend you any restaurant. I ate in one they recomended me, where the food was a SHIT and expensive, the stuff was really bad looking (like dirty), restrooms had no water and they commited a 10 euros "mistake" when giving us the change.

Centrally located,Sacre Coere walking distant and all the main attractions within half an hour using public transport- rooms OK Clean, spacious. Could do with a kettle in the room. I would use the hotel again. I recommend it if you just want to sleep and spend most of the time sight seeing. Over all I CAN NOT COMPLAIN.

Ok hotel, room space was not bad compared with other hotels in Paris. Hotel is close to gare du est station, good for taking trains to other european cities. Recommend this hotel for one or two nights short stay. Bit far from gare du nord station, so need to walk if coming from airport.

If I return to Paris, I'll definitely choose Est Hotel for my stay! Taking into account the prices in this city, this is a real bargain and a perfect hotel. The rooms are very small, but charmingly decorated, clean and comfortable. Our room had a view on the slate roofs opposite the boulevard. Very romantic! The building is old and cosy. The classical image of the non-commercial Paris, and still, humble but elegant somehow. We din't have breakfast in the hotel, because the boulevard where it is is full of pavement cafés and boulangeries. And it takes 20-30 min to get to the centre on foot.

Overall, our experience at the Est Hotel was a positive one. It is a short walk from both Gare du Nord & Gare de l'Est so it is very conducive to travel. The young man at the desk during the day was very helpful and accommodating, however the older, managerial fellow that was there at night was not quite as friendly. Our only real complaint was that we did not receive the double room we booked. We were told there were no doubles available and given a triple instead. This didn't bother us of course until we got to the room and saw 3 twin beds. Essentially we got a large twin room with an extra (albeit slightly shorter) bed. Other than this our stay was terrific, and we were more than satisfied with the Est Hotel's location and value.

We were a group of 6 + 1 infant. The Hotel was in an excellent location. Very near to 2 metro stations. Less than 5 minutes walk. We had a chance to stay on the 7th floor. Half of the Eifel tower was visible from one of the rooms. The hotel staff were excellent. They speak English so we din't face any communication gap. Right from the day we checked in, we had a pleasant feeling. I would take the oppurtunity to thank the gents at the reception on the day we left. We were terribly late to catch our departure train and he was so kind enough to offer his bottle of packaged water intended for his drinking. Rooms were quite spacious. We took 2 triple rooms. Rooms were cleaned everyday. Bathroom was clean and spacious. I cannot comment on the breakfast as we did not go for it. There is an Indian restaurant just next door. Overall a great place to stay for the amount of money charged. I definitely recommend this hotel.

For one night stay is ok, but if you are planning a vacation you may want to look somewhere else. The clines of the room are satisfactory for a three stars hotel, but what I didn’t like is the fact that the door of the room was in a pretty bad shape and the locker looked like it was waiting for a change from a long time. I didn’t feel secure to let my things in the room because the locker didn’t inspire me any trust, it looked like with a minimum of effort any one could open the door. I think this is an urgent thing that they need to improve.

Rooms looking backyard and the lane are quiet but I guess walls are very thin so you can hear noises from corridor and next rooms. Bathroom is big enough. Location is very nice - just 2-5 minutes from metro stations and it is possible to reach many famous places by walk. I would reccomend this hotel to travellers with limited budget who prefer to stay near city center.

In November 2008 my wife, 23-year old daughter and I stayed 3 nights in a triple room at the Est Hotel. We highly recommend this hotel for those who don’t want to pay high rates for hotels in Paris that are hard to find, don’t have elevators, don’t have safety boxes, etc. Est hotel is on a main street (Boulevard De Magenta) and is a 10-minute walk from Gare De L’Est train/metro station. Since our flight arrived at 9:30 pm, we decided to take a taxi from terminal 1 at Charles de Gaul. The driver had no problem finding Est Hotel, and the fare was 40 Euros. Est Hotel is not close to any major tourist attractions, so we took the metro (which was no problem). The desk clerks were very friendly and helpful. Our room on the 3rd floor was clean, quiet, and had a refrigerator. The beds were comfortable, and the lighting and heating were good. The bathroom had plenty of hot water and a bathtub. Continental breakfasts are available in a small, cozy room in the basement, and cost 7 Euros. However, we preferred having breakfast at the Le Renouveau Café, which is around the corner from the hotel. This cafe is run by a friendly Algerian man. Est Hotel charges 3 Euros for large safety box, which are under the stairway near the reception desk and elevator.

Hotel itself looks nice from the outside and at reception but the room was very basic and a lick of fresh paint wouldnt have gone astray. Having said that it was cleaned daily and adequate for the purpose and good for the price. The staff were nice and helpful and spoke English. One tip for the hotel - the halls are really dark but there is a lightswitch - its hard to find when its dark but well worth looking for! The location was great - loads of shops/restaurants/bakeries/nearby - I was on a budget so instead of paying for breakfast in the hotel went to the bakery everyday and brought back croissants, pastries and hot chocolate - my daughter thought it was her birthday! The hotel is very close to the metro and also within walking distance of Place de la Republic, Pompidou Centre etc. . In fact it probably wouldnt take that long to walk into town. I thought this was a great hotel for anyone on a budget. I didnt bother with the Paris Pass as it was going to work out quite expensive for three of us so just got daily metro tickets which worked out really cheap at E11 a day for three for unlimited travel - fantastic. Last time in Paris I took the hop-on, hop-off siteseeing bus but this time we walked everywhere and enjoyed it much better aswell as saving money. For anyone on a budget who doesnt mind walking I would advise you to get the metro to the Louvre and then walk from there through the gardens Tuilliers (sorry about the spelling!)and down Champs Eleysee to Arc de triomphe. Loads to see and do on the way and loads of cafes which seem to be the same price as less popular areas. If you're flying to Beauvais theres a bus to Paris at the airport for E13 - fantastic value compared to the price of a taxi then you can get the metro anywhere you want to go. I took a day trip to Disney by train and then just paid entrance fees when I got there which worked out much cheaper too than a package deal. You can have a great holiday even on a budget!

L'albergo era ok. Pulito e tranquillo. Hotel was ok. It was clean and calm. Room was not small for young couple who are all the day outside. Bathroom in room(double/twin) is wide and clean. Location is good: in the end of the road there is république. It is possible to make a long walk from the hotel to Latin Quarters, it is not heavy because there is a beautiful panorama.

The worst stay in a hotel i have ever had. Website and hotel states that checkin is after 2pm only. We arrived at 2.30pm with 6 cases of luggage to be told that our room was not ready yet. We were told that we could leave the luggage in the main foyer and go out and the staff would take it to our rooms ready for our return in the evening. We returned at 8pm to find the luggage still in the foyer. A receptionsit who was not at the desk but sat in the back room with her feet up playing with two dogs said she was busy and hadn't had time to take them up. The rooms were filthy, sheets and towels were not changed throughout our stay. The buffet breakfast was between 7.30 and 9.30am but if you arrived after 8.30am there was nothing left. The lift was out of order our entiure stay whch meant lugging cases up and down 5 flights of stairs. The room walls are wafer thin and you can hear everythng (and i mean everything!) that is going on in the next room and a coach load of school children ran riot on an entire floor throughout the first night. Several guests complained about the noiuse and mess teh next morning to which the reply was that there is nothing they can do. To top it all i had to spend 45 minutes arguing on our checking out as they attempted to charge the full rate and not the reduced rate i got through the website. In short the worst hotel experience i have ever had in 20 years of travelling. If you want some free advice, visit Paris its a wonderful city but do not go anywhere near EST HOTEL as it will ruin your holiday. Would i return to this Hotel? Not a chance, i'd sleep on the street rather than return there and the street would probably be a lot cleaner.

I can't say anything bad about this hotel. I think good quality vs price. We stayed three peaole in one room - for one night 66 EUR. It is 22 EUR from people. For this price we got big bathroom in or room and windows to the both sides of building (attic room). Also sight to Eiffel tower :) Only I didn't like that romm was not renovated for a long time, how to say - it was not "fresh". Paris centre is also comparatively close we went by foot to centre some times... In general - for that price in Paris is OK!

Overall it was a good stay. I felt safe and comfortable in my room. I was a bit dissatisfied with the quality of the breakfast, particularly for the price it cost. Also, it would have been nice to have a shower curtain in the shower as opposed to nothing resulting in a huge water mess being made from the shower spraying out onto the floor. That was awkward and messy.

The Hotel Est is not located in a particularly scenic part of Paris, but as it is within easy walking distance of both the Gare de l'Est and the Gare du Nord (especially the Gare de l'Est!) this is not really a problem because it is possible to get anywhere in Paris fairly quickly and easily by metro. The staff at the Hotel Est were very helpful. The young boy who sits at the desk during the day occasionally seems a bit confused, but he is very friendly and when I asked him about a metro route that I planned to take to the Eiffel Tower, he actually showed me a different one that was much more scenic, which I greatly appreciated. The man that was there in the evenings and through the night was also very nice. I had to visit the emergency room in the middle of the night my last night there and he was very helpful about telling us which hospital we needed to go to and letting us back into the hotel when we returned at five in the morning. The room and bathroom were clean and attractive. Overall, I had a very good experience with this hotel.

Not at all what was pictured on website and when I mentioned it to front desk, they said "what did you expect, you didn't pay much for the room". It's not my fault that I search for a room for one night and that is the price they list. I would never go back to this hotel again even for the low price. Do yourself and favor and spend a little more money on a nicer hotel in a nicer area that is closer to the main attractions of Paris.

tiny rooms leave hardly any room to turn around. the bathtub could do with a shower-curtain. very loud one night when there seemed to be a schoolclass checking in. hotel management could have asked them to keep it down

Perfect hotel for the price we got it (twin room for 103 euro per 2 persons per 2 nights). Clean enough, quiet enough, close to the center and underground. Highly recommended!

The room is really not too big, but the cleanliness is good. The walls are thin, so it is possible to hear the all the noises. The location is near the center and several metro station, and the employees are very kind. Good quality/price ratio, but only for Paris!

We were expecting a small room for the special price you get by making your reservation through this page... But when we got there we realized that the room was extremly small so if your looking to get a good deal on a room be prepared to get a " special room" for it hahaha.. But the cleaning service was good...

Rooms are quite noisy (saturday night) end a little old fashioned but staff is very welcoming and prices are not too expensive. Good hotel for short stays.

I'm not sure what the standard is for Parisian hotels, but be prepared to shower sitting down - unlike in every other hotel bathroom I've been in, there wasn't a place to hang the showerhead on the wall. Overall, it was great room given the price, but don't expect anything spectacular.

Good location if you're traveling outside of Paris- 5 min walk from Gare d'est, 10 min walk from Gare du nord. For around Paris, several metro lines nearby, 15-20 min walk to Centre Pompidou. Europe is so expensive that I can't say the price-quality was great, but there was nothing wrong with the rooms either. Just a standard place to sleep. The worst thing was that it had no internet..if that's important (like it was for me), pay a bit more for another hotel with wireless access or in-house internet facilities.

Double room for 3 nights stay. After 2 nights we were said that we have to change our room. Why? The explanations weren't obvious. It wasn't very good change. The new room wasn't spacious, rather very small for 2, noisy, not comfortable, in the bathroom was very cold, only bath without any curtain. The reception was not very helpful, they promised to order a taxi for the next day, but and in the morning they said that it wasn't impossible. It was our first and last stay in Est hotel.

Thinking of the convenient location(near Gare de Nord) and price, this is the reasonable hotel. Room is old, but it's acceptable. Dark corridor and difficulty to find the switches is unpresant for me.

Very Noisy Hotel, Expensive Breakfest actually not worth it, Hotel Staff Fighting Against Each Other, No manners, but very close to the metro

I came here with my girlfriend for a few days and we weren't disappointed. We didn't spend much time in the room because of the constant sightseeing we were doing, but every evening the beds was made up with clean sheets and tidied. The location was ideal because of the metro station just down the street which gives access to any part of Paris. The breakfast was really convenient and very reasonably priced. I have absolutely nothing but praise for this hotel and it's amenities. We loved our few days and plan to go back in the near future.

Very nice place for the price we paid also area is not as bad as some people make it sound. It was quite a nice area wih no shortages of places to eat. The staff where very helpful. My only problem with this place is the thiness of the walls, the rooms are not sound proofed as advertised as the neighbours could be heard "doin it" for most of the night. And I heard most of thier conversation in the morning too. Also the rooms are very very small it is very difficult to manouvre in the shower / toilet if your a tall person.

Great location but the hotel does not meet a three stars requirement at all. Spacious rooms but old and tired.

This Hotel's Location is good. near the "Gare du Paris Est & Nord".
United Kingdom, Nov 2007
The room is very small, and the window handle is broken. Furnitures are all old. No towel rail in bath room. There is even no shower curtain been fitted. I wouldn't reckon it as a 3 stars hotel. But if you only need a room for resting, in a convenient location, this might be a good choice.

The only reason I stayed here was because the hotel where I had a reservation (Villa Du Maine) cancelled on me a week before going claiming that I canceled the reservation. Venere was useless in resolving this issue. This costed me much more than what I planned to pay.
