Hoel well situated in a safe area. My room was light and airy, well appointed and the bathroom was super clean.The staff and communications with the hotel were first rate. Great places to eat and have a drink nearby which are a bit pricey but it is Paris. The aircon had thoughtfully been switched on in my room for some time when I arrived, which was welcome as Paris is very hot in August. Booked again for September. This hotel gets my vote - and I am well travelled both business and leisure.

I've booked a double room. When arrived I was informed it was at 5-th floor in the attic and the elevator went only to 4-th floor so I had to haul the luggage on narrow stairs(the lady at the recption commented quite obnoxiously:"at this price I cannot offer you a room at a different floor",as if it was me who "forced" them to offer me this price! The elevator was the smallest I saw in my life - and I travel a lot especially in Europe where everything is small(two normal size people or 1 person+1 suitcase). We had trouble with the heat;even after complaining in the evening that there was no heat,they turned it on for a while but then,during my 4 nights stay, they kept turning it off over the night ;we woke up in a freezing cold room ' my elderly mother got sick. Didn't dare to take a shower one morning as the room was like a cave. The bathroom was extremely small. The maid was very friendly and took care of the room greatly. Another receptionist ,Bruno, was also quite helpfull.The breakfast was $ 10 but NOT INCLUDED in the price (as the same lady which commented on the room price informed me). At this price I'd rather eat next door at one of the famous cafes Les Deux Magots or Cafe de Flore , which were at the corner of the street Rue St Benoit. The location was EXCELLENT , near the St. Germain Cathedral. Musee d'Orsay with its impressive impressionist collection is at 10 min walking distance. For the evening,eat around the happenning area at the intersection of Rue de Buci,Rue de la Seine and Rue Mazarine.

We were very pleased with this hotel. While the rooms were typically small and cozy, they were clean and comfortable. The location is ideal, within walking distance to so many sights and the choice of cafe's are plentiful. The staff were accommodating; especially the concierge who was extremely helpful which helped make our vacation the success that it was. I would recommend this hotel to others and hope to return myself in the future.

I stayed in a standard room in "Hotel Crystal" for 12 nights. The room I stayed in for the first 2nights was very disappointing (room 17). It was not clean, very small, furnished with terribly worn-out furniture, and noisy facing street. The carpet was very worn out. And the bathroom tiles has moulds on them. After I made complaints to the hotel staff about the room, they arranged other room for me. Although the othe room was small, it was much better. Despite the poor standard (compared to what I paid) of the rooms and the facilities, I could enjoy the rest of my stay thanks to the convenient location and the very kind and helpful hotel staff. I really would like to praise the service of the hotel staff which made my stay pleasant.

We are an Italian couple who spent four days in Paris in August. The place is comfortable, clean and quiet ( we were at the fourth floor). The staff is friendly. Very good the relationship between price/quality considering that the hotel has an excellent position.We recommend this hotel, and we'll choose it again when we come back to Paris.

Very good location, nice staff but rooms are too little and dark (and the bedspread was old and stained). Stairs are narrow and the lift has not enough space for two people with normal suitcases. The price is absolutely too high for the level of this hotel. I don't recommend it at all.

This is an outstanding location. The price is good for this area. The junior suite was very good but not luxurious. No real public areas, but who needs that when you can step out of the hotel door and be right in the middle of St Germain?

This hotel was not up to its price point, nor up to the normal French's' standards in terms of how it is maintained, equipped or cleaned. Two years ago we were accommodated in a hotel called "Monceau" for half the price, it was better in all respects except for room spaciousness and the location. I believe that the most important advantage which this hotel is granting to its customers is its perfect location in the 6eme Arrondissement, 100 meters away from Saint Germain Des Pres a landmark which is in short to medium walking distances to very important sites including the seine river, Latin quarter and the pedestrian small and beautiful streets such as rue des Cannettes, rue de Buci etc... However during walking in the vicinity I discovered other hotels which I might try next time, one of them was a Best Western, the other was Hotel Buci and the last but not least was "Hotel de la seine". Bruno at the reception was very helpful but the management of the hotel astonishingly are leaving him solo, there is nobody else to take the luggage to the room or make some reservations or call the taxi. Actually, very poor and stingy services are granted by the hotel to customers which do not favor long stays, except on the personal level provided by Bruno. I hope that this will help

Located just off Blvd St Germain the Crystal Hotel is a very good location for all types of visitors to Paris. The hotel is quite basic but the rooms are well appointed and clean. At 10 euros the breakfast is expensive served in a dingy breakfast room, there are excellent/expensive cafes just around the corner (Les Deux Margots).

The location is more than perfect. Many excellent (icl Japanese) restaurants within 50 meter radius as well as famous café Les Deux Margots. Close to metro Saint Germain. Walking distance from Louvre and other great museums. Also new "free" bike service in the street. Rooms are fine and breakfast is good, served by very friendly ladies. The only critic I can give is that internet in the hotel is pricy and doesn't work well (somebody else told me). Overall price of hotel is very good for the service and location.

The size of the room was typical of a European hotel room. The staff was just great, they were so accomadating and willing to help us with anything we needed, such as reservations, directions and general questions.

The hotel was nice and a great location. The restaurant next door was a little noisy. Also, they advertised that the hotel was air conditioned. Maybe part of it was, but our room on the 4th floor was not and it was a bit hot and stuffy in the evening. (We were there in August.) Staff were very helpful and friendly.

This was the first time I have been disappointed with a Venere booking. I am more than partially to blame, because in my haste to book two double rooms for a last minute one night trip to Paris from London, I accidently booked them as singles. Our party of two couples arrived at the hotel late at night only to find that the night clerk couldn't find any reservations for us. Luckily they did have two double rooms available, but because my reservation was for two single rooms I was at their mercy on price and ended up spending twice as much per room as I had originally hoped. This hotel would have been OK at the price I originally thought I was paying, but at the price I actually paid, close to 200 euros per room, it was not good value. All that being said, the staff were helpful and friendly and the location of the hotel is not bad, very convenient to St. Germaine.

Good location the St. Germain Des Pres area from which we were able to walk to the Louvre, D'Orsay, Pont Neuf and Notre Dame. In the warmer months of the year, even the Pantheon and Opera are walkable. Lots of cafe's closeby offer good breakfast and coffee. We also found decent, multi-ethnic food & grocery in the Latin Quarter. The rooms and staircase/elevator were small, but we got used to it after the first day. The room (and shower and toilet) seemed to have been recently renovated and were very clean. The daily cleaning service was also very efficient. The people at the front desk (esp. Bruno) were multilingual and very helpful with information and also loaned us a electric plug adapter to charge our digicam. The RER LineB train from CDG airport to the St. Michel station and then a cab ride to the hotel cost about 25 euros for the two of us, but the station stairs and escalators were difficult with a big suitcase. The direct cabride back to the airport cost 50 euros. We may want to stay on the right bank for a couple of days on the next visit, but will definitely come back to Crystal Hotel and the left bank for the rest of the trip.

I misunderstood the addvertising. I thought that all the rooms were superior and had air conditionning. The deskman showed me the ad and said that they offered superior rooms for a higher price with airconditioning. They gave me a room with no fan, on the entry floor with a large door-like window with no way to lock it in position, that opened to a tiny atrium that was open to the public. It was 94 degrees F, I awoke to a man (a painter),changing his clothes in the atrium and fearfully got up to close the window. My throat was sore from paint fumes and the heat. When I told the lady at the desk. She told me the uncovered 5 gallon buckets of paint were not toxic and I shouldn't cause her problems. I wanted to leave the hotel and she said I could only cancel online myself. At night I watched the temperature climb a degree per minute on my clock thermometer. I opened both the door to my room and the window to get a cross current and was to scared to sleep. I finally locked down the room and set an alarm for a few hours to wake up before sufficating. The next night they gave me a beautiful room on the fifth floor that had a window to the street. I slept well. However the elevator only went to the 4th floor and it was difficult to get my luggage up and down the narrow stairs. I will only stay in a large hotel in Paris in the future. My advise is to read all the fine print and ask questions.

Although the hotel was being refurbished (painting)it was marvelous. The staff was very curteous and spoke english! The room we had, faced out onto the Rue St. Benoit and the music from the cafes was romantic, it was so very charming. Truely a gem. Great location, close to metro and to everything Paris has to offer. Safe location. My whole Paris experience was sealed at this hotel. I highly recommend this secret little gem of a hotel.

The hotel is in an excellent location and we had no trouble finding it at all. Less than 5 min walk from the metro and about a 10 min walk to the Lourve mueseum . Service was also very good and the manager was very accommodating in giving us a room of our choice when we did not like the initial room allocated. My only complaint is that the price quoted on the Venere confirmation says "total price", which infact is not correct as there is a daily surcharge ( tax ) added to the bill in the end, which is on top of the "total price"initially quoted. But on the whole a very pleasent stay , will definitely go back.

Very nice hotel, offering comfortable rooms in an excellent location at an affordable price. The hotel structure is old, but the rooms are modern and well furnished. The receptionist was very welcoming and ready to provide information on the surrounding. I had booked a single room but was given a double room, which was of good size for Paris and had a spacious bathroom. The only negative point was the presence of a jazz club just across the road, with loud music until 1.30 am, clearly audible from the room. Better ask for a room at the back of the hotel.

We stayed in a superior room (for the airconditioning) - in Summer we recommend air con in Paris! The room was clean and well made up, the hotel was being renovated but we were rarely bothered by it. The location was absolutely excellent-walk to Louvre and St Germain, excellent restaurants within walking distance. I recommend this hotel for visitors who want to be in close proximity to most of the tourist areas.

The hotel is a bargain considering the expensive area in which it is located. With that in mind, you sacrifice comfort. The hotel website stated that the hotel was under construction the first few months of 2006. Since I wasn't going to be arriving until late June and again in early July 2006, I didn't expect the hotel to be under construction -- it was. So the lovely lobby that appeared in the photo on line was non-existent. An old leather couch and an old library desk amidst a white powdery film is what greets you at the door. The hotel also stated that it had air conditioned rooms. Apparently, you have to ask for a room with air conditioning or they automatically book you into one without. We asked repeatedly for wash clothes and none were ever provided, but they do provide bath and hand towels. Get an air conditioned room facing the street, not the interior. The air conditioned rooms are also much quieter as the hum of the air conditioners drown out the street noise. The interior rooms have windows facing an echo chamber of a well and it sounds like other guests are yelling inside your room. We found these interior rooms to also have no air conditioning. With that said, the hotel rooms are clean and in a fabulous location. The hotels near the Crystal Hotel are more than double the price. So....if you can tolerate some inconveniences, the hotel is still worth the stay and it is clean.

The web site stated that the hotel had been remodeled and renovations were complete. That was not the case. The lobby was a mess. The dust was horrible, and we had to go down a flight of stairs to take the lift to our room. The room was very small even by European standards. The staff was pleasant, and the room was clean. Staff did not explain that we could have a 24 hour internet pass, so we paid per hour. We found out about the 24 hour pass from another visitor at the hotel.

This hotel was perfect for our stay in Paris. It is in a fantastic location- right off of the Blvd. St. Germain. There are many cafes, bars, restaurants within walking distance. There is a metro stop about a 3 minute walk from the hotel. We found that for the majority of the big sights in Paris our hotel was in a perfect spot. A few nights we opted for a cab instead of the metro and never paid more than 10 Euro. The people working at the hotel were very friendly and helpful. They also have a computer in the lobby where you can use the internet for 5 Euro an hour. Our room was nice- it was small like most European hotels, but we stayed there for a week and were very happy. There is a spacious closet and we had a safe in our room. I will definitely stay at the Crystal Hotel on my next trip to Paris

The location of the hotel can not be beat. I have been to Paris many times before and have stayed in other areas and this was by far the best. The staff of the hotel was very nice and spoke English pretty well. The bathrooms were very spacious and clean. The rooms were comfortable. I would stay here again. Good price for the location.

I was so happy with the overall facilities and competent staff that I stayed for an extra 3 days. The room was quite small, but in comparision with rooms advertised on this web site, I was expecting something smaller! Full bathroom facilities. My companion had a problem with pickpockets on the local bus, and was really stuck with organising for credit cards to be replaced - staff at the Crystal were sensational.,I have no hesitation in recommending this place to any traveller who wants a good room to stay in (most travellers want to be out and about anyway)this one is really good and I hope to return one day.

Although there is nothing special about the Crystal Hotel, it served us well as a central location for our 2 nights in Paris. There are a number of pretty good restaurants within walking distance of the hotel and of course at least 2 Metro stops VERY close to the hotel, so you can get anywhere you want rather quickly. There was no air conditioning in our room. The lift was extremely small and we could barely fit one person and our 2 small-sized pieces of luggage. The staff spoke good English, which was much appreciately. We managed fairly well and the hotel served its purpose. I'd recommend it to anyone just looking for a comfy, relatively inexpensive place to stay a couple of nights while in Paris.

Based on the price that they have given, I was expecting that the quality of accommodation would've been better compared to the other 7 hotels we've stayed in during our 3 wk holiday. Unfortunately, it is such a disppointment. We stayed in a twin room. The walls(wallpaper) were dirty, there was not enough illumination in the room; toiletries were not replaced, I'm not even sure how old that carpet was in the hallway and staircase.

Hotels are always expensive in Paris. The location here was perfect, but the rooms were very disappointing. My mother was in the room 4 doors down and I could hear her phone when it rang. The "period" furnishings basically just look old, nothing like Le Cep in Beaune. I think there are some nicer rooms at the hotel, but rooms 6 and 10 are not them.

Pleasant enough hotel in a very handy location. Our room was small but well furnished although slightly claustrophobic as the window opened onto a tall narrow shaft. Prices in the area though are expensive. I pain 36 euros for 2 pernods in a jazz bar in the same street so be careful.

The hotel is a good choice regarding the price/quality/location factor. It is very well located in the heart of the charming st germain area. The room was nice and clean but neither spacious nor well decorated . The receptionist staff was very kind and helpful. It was very difficult for us to find a parking place near the hotel. All parkings were complete and only after two hours we finally found a parking. But it was fun! We enjoyed very much our stay in Crystal hotel and in paris.. We will come back!

Though the hotel was located very centrally in St.Germain, it was relatively quiet. The room and the bathroom were rather small but clean. I have stayed in much nicer hotels in other big cities at lower prices but Paris is probably just that expensive. Nevertheless I might go back to that hotel.

This hotel was excellent. This hotel room was larger than expected for Paris. The Bathroom was modern, and always spotless. No shortage of hot water. Every review that we read before the trip was accurate. No surprises other than pleasant ones. The location was perfect... if you like the atmosphere of cafes and bakeries fashion boutiques and every location with in walking distance. We would stay here again and highly recommend this hotel.

To be honest, I feel bad writing this poor review. The hotel location is good and the staff tried to make things right, but we had a lousy stay. Our non-smoking room was small even by Euro standards and came equipped with an ashtray. The only window in the room opened onto an air well that carried dust and noise from the remodeling project next door directly into our room. One of the other hotel 'guests' was an overly exuberant hooker, although I don't know how she could stay in business, as the elevator was just barely big enough for one full sized person at a time. It's hard to know exactly where the hotels responsibility ends and our own bad luck begins but, none the less, we won't be staying here again.

Excellent clean accommodation. Excellent location; in amongst many cafes and restaurants, and conveniently located in the centre for exploring the rest of Paris. Only downside was the recommendation from the receptionist to eat in 'Le Procope' - cramped restaurant, awful service, tourists only, and sitting on top of the person next to you with removal of tables to get in and out of seats!!! (if you must, insist for a table upstairs as tables have some space). We drank our wine asked for the bill and left. Many other good restaurants, and bistros nearby.

On my initial attempt to book two nights at this hotel the return confirmation from the hotel indicated they had doubled the price. I emailed to the hotel but their response was useless. So I cancelled that reservation and booked two individual nights in a row at the correct website published rate. Not a big deal, but they should be able to handle these things better. Otherwise the hotel was fine, room a bit small. Location in St. Germain des Pres is excllent though. Breakfast, as with all hotels in France, is too expensive. I don't know when the French are going to figure that one out, it's basically robbery. Also, no internet terminal in the hotel for use by guests.

We are extremely happy with Crystal Hotel. The location is superb, right off St Germain des Pres on a side street, and hence we have the convinience and not the noise. Metro stop is only 0.5 block away and there is a supermarket across the street. The double room we originally booked was very small and we asked to change to a twin room (w/2 twin beds). The staff was very accomodating and he did the switch right away, with no extra charge. Thank you for making our one week in Paris so comfortable. I will definitely stay in the hotel again next time I go back to Paris.

Extremely convinient location in the Left Bank, with Metro, cafes, restaurants and supermarket within a block. Winter rate is excellent for the location. Room is clean albeit small. Staff is very helpful. Breakfast is very basic for 9.50EU(coffee, croissant, juice, cereal and yogurt). Why not make it inclusive in the rate?

The location of the hotel could not have been better. The neighborhood was perfect for dining, shopping, & taking long walks. All the major sites are walking distance from the hotel, there's so much to do just in the neighborhood, we didn't have to travel far to really get a feel for the city. The rooms were small and the noise level high, (we heard snoring from our neighbor the first night and a whole phone conversation the next night), but for the price & location, we'd stay here again.

OK, mal eine Bewertung in Deutsch. Lage des Hotels ist hervorragend und das Personal ist sehr freundlich. Die Räume sind sauber, aber sehr klein. Eine Bar gibt es leider nicht, nur Minibar im Zimmer. Frühstück ist gut, Käse und Wurst gibt es aber nicht. Eier sollte mann nicht nehmen, die werden nur 2 Minuten gekocht. Insgesamt typisch Paris. Buchung hat gut funktioniert. Also sehr zu empfehlen.

We have two rooms, one with air conditioned and the second one without. In the first one the noise level was terribly high. The clerk said me that is impossible to resolve because the building is very old! Then they lie when in the description of the hotel they speak about the recent renovation.

The Crystal Hotel is in an excellent location, with restaurants and lively bars nearby. The welcome from the staff was great and nothing was too much trouble. The only quibble was that the price of a single room was 99 Euros, quite a bit more than quoted on the site. However, it was still very good value for such a central location. I will defintely recommend it to my friends and stay there again whenever I am in Paris.

This hotel is excellent in terms of situation, service and cost (on the basis of getting an off season price reduction). If I return to Paris I'll stay there again. The staff were friendly and helpful and, although the room we were in was small(as all the hotel rooms I've stayed in in Paris have been)it was clean, nicely furnished and perfectly adequate for our needs.

We found the Crystal Hotel a good price performer in a great central location for tourist attractions. The staff were friendly and courteous. We didn't use the breakfast facilities so can't comment on food. As the hotel was on a side street the noise levels were low. Parking was close by but you had to double park to unload cases. Overall it's exactly what you would expect from a 3 star hotel in Paris with a good rate.

The only problem encountered was that I thought all rooms had air conditioning. After 2 days without it, we changed rooms to one that did. They explained that I would have needed to request rooms with A/C. The front desk made outstanding recommendations on restaurants!

Location is exellent, staff is very nice, quite nice and clean rooms, however in the photographs they looked much more spacious. The main problems were noise and temperature in the rooms. If the room's window is to the tiny inner yard it's generally quiet (depends on the nabours and we had pritty bad ones) but very hot in summer even during the night as the inner yard does not get much fresh air. If window is to the street it's very noisy ( unless you keep window closed) untill late as the street is full of caffes and also early in the morning when cleaning starts but you will get some fresh air.

The Crystal Hotel was a great find. I was first impressed by the location (in the heart of St. Germain de Press). I had originally reserved a hotel down the street that was twice as expensive, but decided to stay at the Crystal Hotel once I saw the price difference, and the hotels were so close. The entire area is a wonderful shopping district and there were plenty of places to hang out. Eating out was definitely not a problem. There are some wonderful restaurants nearby, including a Japanese restaurant that I enjoyed. I appreciated the friendly and helpful staff. There was a very small elevator, but at least I didn't have to lug my bags up the stairs. The room was small but clean and I had my own bathroom. I didn't feel that the room was warm enough in the winter, though. Granted, this is not a four star hotel, but for the price, it's a find. I would definitely return.

The Crystal was a very quaint, comfortable hotel. Breakfast ($9.15) was excellent, the location was superb, and the staff was probably the most friendly, helpful hosts we have ever experienced. The hotel's only drawback for us was the small bathroom. I highly recommend the Crystal.
