A great find amongst overpriced Paris hotels. It's not cheap comparing to most cities, but for Paris the price is quite ok, especially since it's situated in a decent Marais quartier, shops and cafes nearby, Carrefour open till 23.00 across the corner and metro stop is a few steps away. In 20 minutes on foot you can be at the Cite district. Our room (26) was recently renovated, very charming and absolutely quite (I specially asked for it, so our windows faced some tight space between the houses, no view, but I always prefer good sleep, you have nice views as you walk through Paris, when you are back in the hotel, who needs to stare at the window?) - we heard no cars, no other guests, perfectly sound-proof. In the chilly October nights the room was always warm. It was also nicely cleaned every day. Another strong point - they had tea tray with a kettle, tea and coffee bags refilled every day - that's unusual for most of the Europe and very nice indeed! Wi-fi connection is free and very good. The staff is there for you 24 hours, nice and friendly. Didn't take breakfast in the hotel though, breakfasts in French hotels are overpriced and I'm no fan of croissants either. Summing this all up, we had absolutely no complaints and enjoyed our stay very much!

Air conditioning was out during my entire 3-day stay. On the second night, a pipe burst setting off the fire alarming and putting all guests on the street at 3:30 AM. I had to ask for an adjustment to my bill to compensate.

My low rating on quietness was based on the fact that there was some internal construction at the time of my stay -- there was a lot of banging right next to my room. This did not really bother me, as it started after I was already awake, and I did not stay in my room for long after it started. So there was noise when I happened to be there, but I think this was just a temporary situation so the true quietness rating for the hotel should be more like an 8.

This hotel is quite well located in terms of being in a quiet street, near to public transport and close to the centre of Paris. The whole area is quiet so I wouldn't recommend this to someone searching for good nightlife or nearby theatres and things to do, but hey, those are only a few stops away on the metro! I did find a very decent restaurant close by (au Fil des Saison, rue fontaine du temple). There are some noises and disturbances because of renovations but they didn't start until a pretty reasonable hour of the morning (after 9am). My only real woe was that my room obviously used to be an ex-smoking room (all the rooms are non smoking) so, well, stank with that bitter acrid smell of old smoke. I found myself washing the wallpaper down on the second night because I couldn't stand the smell! I only mentioned it on departure and the management were helpful and said that I would have been moved if I had brought it to their attention, and I assume once the renovations are complete that will be solved. The ceilings in the room was surprisingly low - I am 5'5 and could easily touch the ceiling, however I would have to say that the room managed to still not feel claustrophobic. The furnishings are tasteful and the bed was comfy with good pillows. There are no safes in the rooms, but the management will lock away your valuables and does so with a double signed and sealed envelope so I felt my things were quite secure. My conclusion is that while I am more likely stay in one of my other habitual hotels in Paris over this one, I think this was quite a decent hotel in quite a decent location for quite a decent price and I would be willing to stay there again.

Overall it was a good stay at the hotel which I only used for sleeping after sightseeing during the day. The staff at the reception desk was friendly and helpful and the rooms were very clean and had a sufficient size. I even found fruits and yoghurt for breakfast (even though it doesn't match breakfast buffets in Switzerland or Austria). Located in a quiet side street but still near to the city center it is a bit noisy, but I managed to sleep with the windows open. But there are several sights within walking distance and the metro station is only a few steps away. In a few hundred meters distance there starts the "Marais" quarter with a lot of cool bars and restaurants. As a reasonably priced hotel quite in the midst of Paris I can recommend Arts et Métiers.

Great location -- not touristy, and still within walking distance of amazing sights. Staff was friendly and knowledgeable. We especially liked the poster that listed all the events in the city for the current month. The bathroom was very clean, the water pressure was excellent, and the water was very hot. We could sleep in undisturbed, and our privacy was always respected. Would definitely recommend it for a romantic getaway!

Although our room was small, it was ideal for what we wanted it for; a place to rest while soaking up the sights of Paris. If you're staying for a quick over-nighter, or a short visit, and plan on spending most of your time enjoying the city of Paris, rather than spending all your cash on a hotel room, Hotel Austin's Arts et Metiers is ideal.

This hotel is great! Located metres from the metro, quiet and clean with good breakfasts(9E).At the edge of the Marais, near all the wholesalers if that's your bag, with bars and reataurants close by. the best thing was being able to be at Chatelet, go back to the hotel and change and be back at St Chappelle within 30 Minutes!

Austin's Arts et Metiers is an excellent 3-star hotel for location, cleanliness and service. All the guys at the desk were very nice and extremely helpful. Bathroom (for a 3-star) was beautiful and seemed new. I have recommended this hotel to others already. The only glitch was that the free wireless did not work very well in the bedrooms, only in the lobby, so I and other guests brought our own laptops to the room off the lobby. There is also a hotel machine there for anyone to use.

This hotel was OK. No A/C, which can be a problem in the Summer. If you get a room in the front of the hotel, very noisey. In the back, no noise, but an ugly view of an ugly wall. It is right next door to a Metro stop, but that is not uncommon in Paris. My first room the the 5th floor, I could not get the wireless signal, so I talked them into moving me into a room on the second floor (and that was harder then it should have been). It worked fine on the second floor. The guy who worked the desk in the day was kind of a jerk, but the guy who worked nights was nice. All the rooms have a full size bed, so even if you are only paying for a single, you get a bigger bed, which is not always the case in Europe. I had a friend crash on the floor the last night after we both had too much to drink, and the hotel noticed this, and charged for a double on the last night. Very low class. Overall, nothing great, but it worked. If you have other options, you might want to go with them.

The room 44 in itself was OK, I could no practice Tai Chi but was quite large compared to other 3stars Hotel of Paris. The bathroom was spotless which is always nice. The carpet shall be changed , eventhough it was clean, it was tainted. WIFI connection was good. Metro station across the street. Breakfast OK. International clients (from Bresil!) along with french regular customers. The price paid was very close to the public rate so I lower the ratio quality vs price

Hotel "Arts et Metiers" is located absolutely brilliant:close to everything, but in a quiet, little street.Hotel was as advertised. The staff was very welcoming and friendly. Our double room was clean and comfortable and although small was as expected for Paris. Several nice resturants in the Marais' area. We will definitely come back and stay here next time...Merci L'hotel è molto carino ed accogliente, situato in una stradina proprio di fronte la fermata della metro arts et metiers(linea 3 ed 11) e pochi minuti a piedi dal centro Pompidou. At the reception desk they admitted that guests on the 1st + 2nd floor complain about that noice. Nice hotel but ask for a room on the 4rd or 5th floor.
