A very basic room but there was nothing available in Paris on the date so I had to take it, There was no toilet in the room and no shower anywhere I could find. The room was extremely basic but clean. for the price I didn't expect much, but perhaps a TV . There was free wifi so I could watch TV on my laptop.

The room may be small, but what do you expect? You're in Paris! The owners were very kind and accommodating. They speak excellent English. There is some street noise late at night, but close your windows and it disappears almost completely. Beds were made, room was cleaned each day. It's extremely convenient to the metro line. There is a fantastic shop just down the street that sells sandwiches, pastries, bread, etc. We went there a couple times. If you're expecting a huge place to stay and tv to watch, this is not the place for you. If you want a clean, safe place to sleep while you explore Paris, then this place is great! Ignore the reviews about the 'unsavory' elements. Yes, there are peep shows downstairs. But the people in the neighborhood are just going about their business. Live in a real Parisian neighborhood for a few days, it's great! There are some semi-steep stairs to get to the rooms inside the hotel. If you have mobility issues, this may not be the place for you. No lift.

We would rate Appi Hotel as good. Street entrance is somewhat off-putting, with a single door opening on to a dingy looking hall leading to steps up to Level 1 reception. Don't let this put you off. Appi is well located less than 5 minutes walk from Reamur-Sebastopol Metro, with an excellent Patisserie at Reamur corner, a few doors up. Area has huge selection of good restaurants and bars. Rooms are clean, dry and heated in winter, with comfortable, single beds. Free wifi in the rooms. Steep narrow stairs (no elevator lift)and cramped bathroom size seem typical for many hotels in Paris. We had two separate bookings as we arrived a day early in Paris. So for the first night, we got a room on Level 6, at the rear. It had ensuite and was quiet and sunny. Front rooms can be noisy at times - but you do have a double-glazed window you can close if it bothers you - and then it is very quiet. For our second part of the booking we had a double room with ensuite, room 31 at front, for four nights. It was also spacious, clean, dry warm etc. Some rooms have ensuite bathrooms - but some don't, so remember to specify your needs. Desk manager Xavier was very friendly, cheery and helpful with information in excellent English. We would visit this hotel again.

They do not propose breakfast any longer. However, the website description says that on must count 8@. It would be nice to know on what floor one stays and to be informed that de reception opens only from 9 a.m. till 1 p.m. and again from 4 p.m. till 11 p.m. Furthermore the wifi was out of order on the 4th, 5tht and 6th floor. This was quite inconveniencing.

I could not use the kitchen myself because the reception staff member s afraid of explosions. So each time i needed something i had to ask him to bring them and put them back, or boil water instead of me, which made me feel uncomfortable. The hotel has the aspect of a medieval house. If it hadn't been for the wifi i would have really felt like in the dark ages. What could i say, the location is great, the price is low, but the quality the same. Im glad I'm leaving from it, although I'm also glad i didn't pay that much.

Spend 4 nights at Appi, room 62 top-floor, means 117 steps to be taken, no elevator, but at 64 I am still fit, room was very clean, large and nice with the beams, small bed and wash basis in the room, small window looking towards flats of Paris with people living on top floors as well. Please close window when you go out as IF it rains it will come inside.. I could hear Paris street sounds all the time, which, in my opinion, will give you the real Paris feeling, take earplugs in case that becomes too much. Shower next to the room in the corridor, think to be shared with just 1 other room, OK.... the shower is small but the water is running and they keep it clean, the price is excellent ..do not compere with much more expensive places.Very diverse neighborhood, also a beautiful arcade very close, supermarket in the next street, yes some sex shops/industry but that didn't bother me.. metro entrance at the corner, walking distance Seine...I would stay here again because of all this and the real Paris feeling I got !!! I had all the maps and info already with me so I don't know or they provide any..just did not need to ask..

Hotel is near center (just 15 minutes to walk to cathedral), very narrow steep staircase (I hope there will never be a fire), tiny bath with free but quite slow internet-WLAN. Beds are clean and good, rooms and especially bath are small and not too clean. Street is not too noisy for city-center (no through traffic), parking in garage in same street just 100m away (3 days for 65€). Mixed surroundings with some sex-shops, prostitutes, but also nice restaurants and shops.

I quite enjoyed my stay at Appi. My room was spare but still had charm; hauling my suitcase up 6 flights of winding stairs felt like part of the authentic city experience, though if it had been heavier, I might not have been so keen on it. Wi-fi worked great in my room and the bathrooms were clean. I'm fond of the 2nd/3rd arrondissements, so I was pleased to be staying there.

Excellent location as far as getting around however, there is no elevator- a problem. The room stunk with stale bedding- the sheets were clean, but the covers needed a washing I thought. For the value it was decent, but you gotta know what you are getting. The guy at the front desk was not helpful as far as parking your car. Also, they list free internet but it was not free.

Hotel in central location. If you arrive at hotel between 1-4pm you cannot get in, no one informed us of this, also our eurostar check in was at 4.15pm so had to carry cases around with us from 1p.m on check out day! Very inconvenient. The hotel staff, except 1 very nice lady, were very unhelpful and some too much trouble if asked them questions. The rooms, carpets etc very tired. Only book hotel if you are only going to sleep there and be out all day as we were.

If you are the part of "Les miserables", it is really cheap. Otherwise forget it! ... Half sqm (not jocking!) toilet and shower, no elevator for 6 level, no staff's compentence about any Paris information I requested. If you are not frightened yet, you are maximum 40 kg, feel fit and have a good guide book and map, it's clean and close to the city center.

The room was small and not quite because we could hear the noise of other customers. It was really hot inside and there was no possibility to reduce the temperature. There were only tree bath (very very very small) in all the building (about 20 chambers) and also the two showers were really small. However the quality of service was commensurated with the price, considering also that the position of the hotel was near the city centre. I've appreciated the possibility o use the internet in the hotel.

I had a double room, without bath, for three nights. Everything was great and as expected except for the shared bathroom. The toilet was down 1/2 a flight of stairs and the shower was another flight down. This wouldn’t be a problem except that the shower room is about 70 by 90cm. So there is no room to get changed. Also the shower door is only about 50cm wide so it is a squeeze through from the staircase. I suggest that if you stay at this hotel you choose an en suite room.

For 30 euros a night in the 2nd arrondissement, it was better than it could have been. The floor in my room (fake hardwood) really needed to be cleaned, but other than that, the room was fine. The biggest problem was the tissue paper thin walls. There was absolutely no soundproofing between rooms. Every conversation, every footstep on the stairs, every cough, you'll hear like it's right in your room.

The price was good, location was convenient, very close to Reamur Sebastapol metro. The room was sufficient for our needs. The toilets and showers are very small rooms located at corners of stairs, which didn't bother us but might others. Our only complaint would be staff was less than enthusiastic, I'd go as far as to say annoyed when we asked for some cutlery or something to drink out of, glass etc, because we had brought food home. The walls are also very thin. It was not loud at night though. Overall worth it for the money, maybe get some real glasses and cutlery or be more enthusiastic about allowing your guests to use the plastic ones you have. They also take your dirty towels but it is up to you to come and get new ones yourself.

Hotel is centrally located, but Rue St Denis, which is a pedestrian zone at the centre, later becomes a street with a lot of sex shops. Although I (female) was alone, I did not feel very uncomfortable at night. The room was small but clean in contrast to the rather shabby carpet on the stairs. The toilet (to be shared) was a normal one and clean. If alone, I would come again because of the price.
