Hotel Nixe Palace - Palma de Mallorca

We were there the first week of November 2010. Exceeded our expectations. The beach is stunning, clean and (at least in Oct/Nov), almost your own private beach. Perfect swimming beach. Water was warm 70+ and crystal clear, with very mild, weak low waves on the shoreline, no riptides or cross currents. Very suitable for children. An adult can wade out about 100 feet and be only mid chest deep. Before we arrived, we were a little concerned about mobility and being able to get to places from the hotel. The hotel is not very close to the center of Palma, but the local bus system is unbelievably simple, cheap (1Euro25, bus driver take cash and make change!) and efficient, with 2 buses stopping directly in front of the hotel with the stops ("Hotel Nixe Palace" is the stop) announced inside the bus a reader board and audibly in Spanish and Catalan. By bus it took about 15-20 minutes to get to the center of Palma, maybe 10-15 mid-day or in the evening when traffic and ridership was less. The hotel is about 1/4 mile from the King's summer residence(unfortunately, not visible to the public). It is a longish walk to the Joan Miro Museum (15 minutes?). There is a bi-pass highway nearby for quick access to the airport, about 10-15 minutes (and less than 20 Euros for 2 people) by taxi. Lots of little restaurant's and bars very close to the hotel, though most are not very fancy. But there are nicer restaurants only about 1 mile away on the same street (Joan Miro) in Illettes (at the end of the #3 bus line), or many easily accessible in Palma. Most of the staff and always at least one person at the front desk were bilingual in English and Spanish (plus German and probably other languages, too). Staff was very polite and helpful. Most comfortable beds we have ever found in European hotels. We stayed at a different hotel in the Old town first, but would return to Nixe Palace and would recommend it to anyone.

Lovely hotel with a clean well maintained beach ,pool a bit small but with a warm sea that is not a problem. No ice machines so have to ask at bar for ice but never a problem for the staff. Meal on the terrace was a bit expensive but plenty of restaurants nearby, try the parrilla buenos aires for a fantastic steak or Il Paridiso for a great if expensive meal but served by friendly and willing staff.Overall a hotel we would use again.

We had a wonderful stay in this grand hotel. The staff were knowledgeable and friendly with the quality as you would expect to find in a 4/5 star hotel. We were so impressed we are coming back again in Feb

Marvellous location directly at the beach next to the King's palace. Convenient bus connection to the town center of Palma de Mallorca right in front of the hotel. Takes a good 20 minutes (more than one would expect according to the web page). We would return to this place at any time.

The hotel is very well located, just on the beach of Cala Major. However, the hotel itself was disappointing. We booked a "standard room" and got a small, dark and noisy accomodation. We tried to change but was so complicated and poorly organised that we gave up. The pool is VERY small and not really usable. Overall, I believe this hotel is overrated.

Beautiful hotel. Very nice sized rooms with amazing views of the Med. Very well worth the rate.

It was one of the best hotels i have eve stayed in. The beach in front of the hotel is beautiful.

The place is gorgeous with a private beach. great views. the breakfast was fresh and tasty. the food at the restaurant was more than we expected. helpful and kind employees.

We had stayed previously at this property, and were therefore most unhappy we were not told the pool was unavailable, and that there was building work from 8 in morning to 8 in evening. No mention was made. An item of clothing was taken from our room, and when reported to staff twice, no effort or real interest was shown. In our view even though it was not expensive, it had sentimental value, staff could have been concerned that this type of thing could happen. We will not go back because of this attitude.

I was very impressed with the location and service at the hotel. Food was great and the staff very friendly. Highly recommended.

Quiet, comfortable hotel with good beach, directly infront. Hot food at breakfast was always lukewarm. Poor information provision from the desk

Customer service was not at the standard I would expect, long waits for drinks and food. Reception poor not made to feel welcome.

For once, the photographs and the hotel match! The relationship to the water was excellent. The views from the room was superb. My only coment would be that some guests got up at 0600 and took claim to the majority of lounges by the pools. There should be a policy that if the lounge isn't occupied by a specific time, it is free game... some stayed empty until after 1200.

Bit of a mess up with our room on arrival - 3rd room lucky! bit far out of town but in many ways it made the time spent at the hotel more relaxing as it was so beautiful there

Excellent hotel, a bit further from the town centre than suggested (off most of the street maps) and coffee a bit weedy, but otherwise great with big, clean, well appointed room with patio sized balcony, lovely sea views. Very quiet in January. Staff all friendly and very helpful. Good breakfast (apart from the coffee) and evening meals. Indoor pool very relaxing. We'd go there again.

This is a beautiful hotel. The lobby, the room, the pools, the beach area...everything. Well situated for easy access to downtown Palma, yet the atmosphere feels like you're on a quiet island. Very friendly, English speaking staff. I would definitely stay at this hotel again.

Will stay at the Nixe Palace again when in Palma

The hotel is excellent. The beach is small, but great for kids as it slopes gentle into the sea. The only disappointment was that the area around the hotel had few good places to eat. This can be solved by getting a taxi into Palma (about 8 euros) which has some great tapas bars. We (2 addults, 2 kids (ages 2 and 3)) had a great time.
