The location of the hotel is perfect for exploring the city. The breakfast was extremely good and far exceeded my expectations for this level of hotel. The staff were very helpful and friendly. In short I would recommend this hotel for anyone wishing to experience a more traditional style of accomodation.

Fabulous building. Rooms good size but a bit spartan for the price. Great breakfast. Right in heart of city. No obvious parking - you'd need to check with hotel if arriving by car.

Good breakfasts with plenty of choice, taken in the splendid courtyard. The style of the hotel suggests that it is more appropriate for the middle aged and elderly, but the absence of a lift suggests otherwise. It was hard work for two 69 year-olds to carry their suitcases to the fourth floor up the stairs. It would have been better had there had been staff to carry them, but I got the impression that the hotel was run with the bare minimum of staff. That said, given the location and the not excessive prices, I would go there again but only if there was a room on the first or second floor.

Great little hotel, well placed for the centre of Palma. As quoted on other reports, no lifts, but managed the stairs OK. Breakfast is very good, staff are very nice, friendly and helpfull.Thought we booked a double room/bed, but turned out to be a twin !. Palma itself is very nice, take the electric train to Soller, lovely trip out. If we went back we would consider using the local buses to roam the island more

We stayed for 3 nights at the hotel born Just one point the instructions for getting to the hotel could be improved and it could be mentioned which stop to get off the airport bus on the Passage De Mallorca which would avoid extra walking but it was a great stay and would highly recommend the Hotel Born The courtyard is wonderful to sit and have breakfast a good breakfast too. The staff very helpful overall a great hotel.

We stayed in a twin bedded room with en suite, the room size was good, but the bathroom was small and no where to put toiletries etc so we ended up putting things on the floor. The room was very clean, overlooking the patio, which was fabulous, and the hotel was very very quiet. It is very well situated for exploring the city.Very good breakfast, and pleasant and polite staff. We would certainly stay there again and would fully recommend it

The hotel is located in a great place, it is a nice building and the breakfast was excellent. There was a free Internet access, which was very convenient.I complain about the lack of ascensor, we need to go up through stairs carrying our own luggage (they could have a person to do that for guests, as they dont have an elevator). Beside that, there was a bug in my room the whole stay, and a drop of water the whole time, coming from AC!!! Awful.

This beautiful hotel was a very good stay for my wife and I. Excellent value for the cost. Our only problem was the street noise, but that was a minor inconvenience. Most of the staff was quite accommodating and helpful. The breakfast was excellent!: Nice variety of choice and plenty of food. Truly exceptional. Comfortable room with a great bathroom. Helped us enjoy Palma.

The hotel is centrally located but down a small sidestreet without obvious signs. The room was spacious and adequately furnished but we requested a double room on the ground or first floor when we booked as we had mobility problems and their are no lifts available. We were given a twin room on the top floor as far away as possible from the top of the stairs. Also, noise from other rooms can be loud and sound seems to carry a long way internally. Breakfasts were adequate with no hot food available. Staff were generally helpful. There was free internet access available. This is good value if travelling on a budget but not for those with mobility or health problems.

The little negatives (lack of lift and absence of "luxury" features such as a bar, or any mini-bar in the room) were entirely outweighed by the charming old-Mallorcan ambience (large and gracefully high-vaulted entrance hall; adjoining open-air courtyard, impressive palm-tree at its centre). Our room, with courtyard view, was tastefully furnished, its modern bathroom bright and spotless. Attractive breakfast. Free internet access. Central location. The staff at the reception desk were extremely kind and helpful, as were the breakfast staff. Altogether delightful!

A lovely hotel, full of character and charm in an ideal location right in the heart of Palma (10 mins to train station, 5 mins to Cathedral) but at the same time it is very quiet. Staff very pleasant and continental breakfast very good (great coffee). Use of free safe (returnable deposit). Nice hotel in a very nice city. It is probably worth noting that their is no lift, which would be a problem for anyone with a walking disability or a lot of luggage!

Great location. The only key issue we had is we found the hotel cold, central heating was only on infrequently and never got up to any great temperature. AC unit in room had no remote control so that could not be used to supplement the heating. This was in March and it was not particularly cold outside so was a bit disappointing.

The hotel was exactly what we were looking for, authentic and perfectly situated in Palma, near to the old town, very friendly staff, great room, basic but perfect, we had a courtyard room which was quiet - just a perfect Spanish feeling - much better than taking one of the standard modern box shaped hotels, would highly recommend to everyone. No lift, we stayed on the 4th floor so bear this in mind if you have heavy luggage.

The location is in the center of the old town and easily accessible by taxi or by the excellent local bus system (with, literally, about 8-10 bus lines stopping within 100 meters of the hotel). The hotel is about 40-50 feet up a narrow street directly above Passieg Born, one of the principle streets of the old town. (It you did not know where you were going it could be difficult to find. But all the taxi drivers and everyone in the neighborhood knows it, and once you find it the first time, you can easily find your way back.) If you have a rental car, parking might be very difficult, but there is no reason at all to have a car in Palma - the city buses and even the intra-island bus system are very cheap, easy to use, and offer frequent buses. The cathedral and may other attractions are close by and easy to walk to. Many nice restaurants close by (try "Tast" tapas bar/restaurant only about 2 minutes away, about 50 feet east of Bar Bosch). The hotel breakfast (included), was very nice and the courtyard was a lovely place to start the day. Most of the staff spoke at least some English and were very courteous and helpful. The rooms are very large by European standards. We had windows that opened, including one with a view of the interior courtyard. Previous reviews describe the hotel pretty well. The building itself is beautiful and perfectly located to explore the town. Some of the public areas are a bit worn (like the red carpet that runs down the center of the stair and hallways), but still very nice and acceptable. Frankly, I think it is better to have a bit of wear but preserve the character of the place. Other than a bit of wear, the only negatives are as mentioned in prior reviews: 1) there is no elevator, and the stairs between the floors are not next to each other - you go from the first floor to the second, then have to go about half way around the second floor to get to the stairs to the third floor. Not really a big deal. 2) the beds

The location of the hotel is excellent because not only it is a little bit aparts from the main street and calm, but also easy to access to many places to visit. The architecture of hotel is very classical and has nice atomosphere. What I felt inconvinient is there is no elevator. I stayd in the room at 3rd floor with 60 stairs; therefore I felt trouble to carry up and down my heavy suitcase. Staff is very kind and English speaking.

Breakfasts were absolutely excellent, even including champagne each day if anyone wanted it! Variety was amazing - all tastes were well catered for, with a good range of cold meats, cheese, cereals and bread varieties, not to mention doughnuts most mornings. All these - as well as unlimited hot drinks - came as part of the basic room price! The breakfasts, plus the helpful and friendly attitude of the multi-lingual staff, made this, our first visit ever to Mallorca, extremely pleasant and memorable.

I met two different receptionists. One person gave me a very kind assistance for tourist information and carrying luggage, and the other receptionist was not as kind as the other one. I stayed 2nd floor(Gr, 1st, 2nd) Breakfast was excellent. Overall it was very good value for the room rate. I arrived Palma on Sunday morning. Most of shops, even Cathedral in Palma were closed on Sunday. As all of shops in Barcelona opened during weekend, I couldn't realize that shops in Palma would be closed on Sunday, so strolling shops in Palma on Sunday is not recommendable.

A superb location, right where you need to be based for sight-seeing in the city and for public transport links to other parts of the island. Our room was a double that looked out over the courtyard. A nicely furnished little room - basic and clean. The staff were all very friendly and extremely helpful. The breakfasts were really good. Buy a bottle of wine from the bar (they don't over charge you) or a coffee and sit in the hotel courtyard in the afternoon, following a day sight-seeing - bliss! We will certainly stay at the Born again. There is no lift, so those with mobility problems might want to consider this.

Hotel was lovely, perfect location, beautiful setting, clean and spacious rooms overlooking a beautiful courtyard. Only criticism is that most of the staff didnt seem friendly at all - the older lady looking after breakfast never said good morning to us the whole 5 days we were there, was generally surly and seemed only interested in chatting to her collegues. The older gentleman on reception took an age to hand write our bill (surely a computer print out in this day and age !)and there was no WI FI(broken)during our whole stay. The breakfasts definatly need more variety, theyre ok for a night or 2 but after a couple of days we were fed up with finding the same buffet when we came down to eat. This hotel also needs a manager to oversee the staff and check that guests are ok. Having said all of this we would absolutley stay there again! The hotel is really beautiful and positioned exactly where you need to be to take advantage of Palma.

The Hotel Born has the best location in Palma -- in the very center of the city, near the Passeig de Born. It also has character -- the authenticity I need to make a stay memorable. Eating your breakfast out in the courtyard, under the palm trees, is a distinctly pleasurable experience. And the building itself -- a former palace -- still retains a remnant of history, both in its public rooms and the general aura of the place. The staff treats you well, too. Stay there!

This was the first time we visited hotel Born. We were amazed that everything was as shown in the pictures. We were not disappointed about anything. The breakfast contained yoghurt, cereals, dark bread, white bread, different kinds of cheese, sausages, ham, cakes, coffees, tea and lots of other things. We were very satisfied with it. The surroundings were also great. I would definitely go back if I visit Palma again.

The hotel is certainly picturesque ( an old House from the XVIth Century if i am not mistaken ) and its location as central as you can ever wish . You can get on foot throughout the City center and that is an advantage . The minus could be the following ones : not very friendly people attending customers ; no elevator (!!) in a four-floors hotel , which is funny when you get a room at the last floors and you have a heavy luggage .. ; single rooms are ... holes (!) , still quite clean , this must be said , although in case you stay there more than one night you can expect to have your room done by ... 15:00 o'clock in the afternoon ; the price is fantastic on the other hand , if you consider the location. I would not suggest this hotel for people travelling for business reasons , as I was.

I can highly recommend a visit to Palma de Mallorca. However the Hotel Born was disappointing. The best thing that can be said about the Hotel is its location which is excellent for the city centre and buses etc. However, our room was small, dark and noisy and the bed was akin to a camping bed! The woman serving coffee at breakfast needs customer care training. If you are staying in this hotal take care to check room size and location within hotel- I suspect courtyard facing rooms are better.

Really enjoyable stay. Staff are friendly and helpful. The hotel is centrey located - within easy wlaking distance of the main sites, yet in a quiet street so you're not distrubed at night. It's clean & beautiful - would be especially great in the summer when you could eat breakfast outside in the courtyard (we went in March). The breakfast was brilliant - such a wide choice, plenty available even at the end of the session. And late breakfast finish time, 10.30, which is always a bonus when on holiday! All in all a great place to stay when in Palma.

Excellent value for money - we could not believe our luck in getting such an impressive room for so little money. The hotel is ideally situated for seeing the old quarter which we would thoroughly recomend . The only downside was that the cathedral was closed when we got there at 3.00pm on a saturday afternoon. We did experience some noise around 2.00am when the owners of the property next door decided to have a " domestic" but this only lasted a few minutes and we went back to sleep. We will certainly go to this hotel again unlike the time share we spent the previous week in which delivered little of the alleged qualities that Club la Costa claimed for it.

We have been to Palma de Mallorca four times before and found the Hotel Born by far the best hotel we have stayed in. Location was excellent, the room was clean and spacious, good breakfast. The hotel is very much "old Spain", very attractive with a lovely courtyard filled with palm trees. The hotel cost 100 euros per night which I feel is expensive for a two star hotel, however I realise this was due to the low value of the pound. I would recommend this hotel if you want a basic, clean attractive hotel with a good breakfast and in a great location.

Historical building wonderfully situated in the heart of Palma. The staff are friendly and welcoming with excellent language skills. Nothing was a problem for them. The relationship between price and quality is extremely good for Hotel Born in Palma. I paid a very competitive price for a very confortable stay just in the centre of the city. I will suggest of course.

Everything was fine: the room, the wonderful patio, the flair, the location. Only one thing: the cockroach in the bathroom, welcoming us did not belong to this wonderful place!

No elevator, four floors. Ask for a room at the first floor, otherwise you will be tired immediately at the beginning of your stay... Apart form this problem the hotel is very good, even though the price is quite high when considering that is is a two star hotel.

The hotel accomodated our need for a larger room when our children joined us at short notice. The square within the hotel where we ate breakfast was lovely and our room overlooked it.The only thing i would say is if you have heavy cases and you are infirm or have a buggy with young children you would struggle with the stairs as there is no lift. I would recommend this hotel for a short stay, we stayed 3 nights which was perfect for our needs before travelling to other parts of the island.Bottled water in the room would have been great there are no tea/coffee making facilities in the room which i missed.

This hotel is a great one, especially in the heart of the city. Easy access to almost everywhere. It was nice staying here. The breakfast in the yard is one of the most fantastic piece of our stay. It may be difficult to find it when you arrive by car, it would be better if more guidance for first time guests is provided.

An utterly charming hotel in a quiet traffic free street in the centre of the town. OK it only has 2 stars, there's no lift,no room service and the stair carpet is a bit frayed but as a place to stay it is brilliant. The entrance hall and central courtyard (where you eat breakfast) is simply beautiful. You can almost imagine you are the duke whose palace it was in the 16th century. We would certainly stay there again.

Positive: Plush décor decorates the reception area and the halls giving a palatial impression. A nice courtyard complements the interior. The bathroom was spacious and clean and had plenty of hot water. The location is good. Negative: The single room I ended up in was small with a prison-like window which I needed a chair to stand on in order to look out. Also, this room had no number on it so I’m presuming it’s a converted storeroom of some sorts. There were no tea & coffee making facilities in the room.

The hotel was great for one or two nights stay, centrally located and fantastic surroundings. Lovely courtyard for breakfast in the mornings and very grand staircase in entrance. The oly let down for us was the noise of sleeping in a room overlooking the alleyway, luckily I had read previous reviews so had taken earplugs along but I don't think that I would have slept if I hadn't. Other than that a great hotel!

In ruhiger Seitengasse gelegen. In den Zimmern zum Hof wird man vom Geklapper der Frühstückenden geweckt, das Frühstück ist aber üppig und höchst angenehm im kühlen patio. Sehr freundliches Personal. Leider gibt es keinen Lift.

We have stayed at the Born four times in the last three years and we keep returning because we find the hotel welcoming, comfortable and idealy situated for a visit to Palma. It is not luxurious but that is its charm it has an historic feel which in our opinion fit exactly with the atmosphere of Palma itself. Practically the rooms are good, clean and the common areas are spectacular and atmospheric and breakfast in the courtyard is worth the cost alone. We always book a room overlooking the courtyard and the beautiful palm trees there. Don't expect 4 star luxury for instance the Born does not have a lift but for convenience of location friendly atmosphere and overall value the Born does take some beating ....we will return.

Although this hotel has an unpretentious facade in a narrow alley/street, it is a lovely hotel with a beautiful marble columned reception area with sweeping staircase & a lovely inner courtyard. The fact it was a palace originally stands out a great deal. Great location for Palma Old Town & city sightseeing and shopping. Very quiet at night -at least in April. The hotel is only 2 seconds walk from a main square/boulevard with cafes and bars serving good food and drink until late. 7/10 minutes walk to Cathedral and sea front. 10/15 minutes from Railway Stations - take the Soller train through the mountains for a day out - fantastic! Very helpful staff, particularly in sorting out our return pick up for airport; continental breakfast great with plenty of variety. Stayed for 4 nights with friends in 2 junior suites - amazing. Our suite (Room 104) had TWO fourposter/canopy beds and room for 2 more! We had an ante room with settee, coffee table and wide screen TV and bathroom off. Lots of storage for clothes etc. Other suite (Room 308) very good but not quite as big. Only downside would be for anyone with mobility problems as there is no lift but it certainly didn't trouble us. We now want to go back it was so good! Highly recommended.

Understand why there is no lift, but a porter would have been good for two ladies of a certain age. To be fair, we didn't ask and they did have needle and thread behind reception! Otherwise it is a lovely hotel, easy walking to everywhere.

Great location; a little tricky to find, but well worth the price. Rooms are sparse, but remember it was a convent, and little time is actually spent there. Bus #1 from the airport at Palma is the way to go rather than spending a fortune in a taxi. Very good full breakfast, but no elevator.

Building is a very attractive 18th century building with beautiful entrance lobby and courtyard. Well situated within easy walking distance of Cathedral and Almudaina Palace and very close to commercial district. Staff were very helpful. No lifts, so may not be suitable for those with limited mobility

This is one of the best hotels i have stayed in. The breakfasts were exceptional. Everything about this hotel was superb (except perhaps, that my bed was a bit hard, probably a new mattress needed? My husbands bed was fine.) I would recommend this hotel without hesitation.

Great location, on a quiet road but just round the corner from the main shopping area and only about 10min walk from the buses and trains. Although a bit thread-bare the hotel had a very homely feel. Generous breakfast with great coffee. Hotel has a lot of steps and no lift. Would happily stay there again.

Beautiful old stone building near the centre of town with a huge stone staircase and spacious airy rooms. Excellent reception staff. Breakfast was extensive and very well presented and unlike many places served a decent cup of tea. It had a large courtyard for sitting around tables and good Wifi reception there and in the reception area. The best single room I have stayed in, excellent value for money, would definitely stay there again.
