The hotel is not clean. When we entered our room, the bed sheets had not been changed, and we found hair and toe nails from the previous guests on our bed. The room maid was rather unwilling to change the bed for us. Even worse: there were fleas in the hotel room! The shower was partly molded, and there were ants inside the bath room. The breakfast is bearable, the staff is friendly, but this does not make up for the dirty rooms. Even if you only pay 40 Euros per night you can expect a clean accomodation, right? I cannot recommend this hotel to anyone who wants to stay in Palermo.

Eccellent position of the hotel, very close to the central station. The hotel staff was an example of the hospitability and kindness which is typical in this beautiful island: welcoming, nice and ready to help. Thank to the young man we had a wonderful time in Palermo. We reccomend it to everybody, also for its romantic features... a young couple living in Florence

Excellent stay in a cool, old historic type building. The staff was super, the breakfast was continental, but superb!! The location was great, write down the street from the Central Train Station, and just a walk or bus to everywhere else. The staff, Giuseppe, was so nice. He gave us super directions, service, all! He even helped us at the train station, without us asking, when we bumped into him there. Unbelievable place to stay, especially for the price!

Staff was very kind and competent; as the hotel (1st floor and many steps)has no elevator (lift), it is very hard to carry the luggage ( WE had the chance of a very kind young man of the staff who helpt us!)

The hotel's location to the bus/train station is excellent and suited our early departure for the airport. It was quiet and although the furnishings looked a little tired, the bedlinen and towels were fresh and clean. With breakfast included I would definitely stay at this hotel again - great value for money.

I was really impressed by the hotel since the price is really good and the services offered are excellent. It's a 2-star hotel by I think it deserves more. The rooms are large and comfortable, the location is excellent (city centre), the breakfast offered is very rich and good. I totally suggest this hotel to travellers.

Room 4, single, facing main road, all the noise of traffic and buggers shouting. Breakfast is simple bread and filter coffee, not the espresso coffee with stuffed breads like at bars. Frequent electric blackout due to overloading of circuits from air-con and other heavy electricity users. Shower is not big enough for a fat person like me. I had to squeeze myself in & out. Telefon at reception kept on ringing, it was like a prank call played to that hotel. Wifi only of good signal in the main hall area, including rooms 4-5-6. Other rooms in another part or floor may lack wifi connection in room & users must then go nearer to the main hall area. No carpet in room, walking barefoot in room is cold during winter

For the price the room was excellant. Close to train station, it's an easy walk to the hotel. In an old beautiful building you could see that it was once a glorious residence. We arrived at midnight from Rome and they were waiting for us, the room had ac and was spacious. Gorgeous, no, but the staff was welcoming and helpful. They rpovided us with much needed info about bus tickets and lines.

The window from the room occured not to open to the free air. We had to ask to switch the air conditioner on. The service provided dependes on the outlook of the person, which is not very pleasant. The room itself was very good, while the mattress was rather wared out and the stairs down to our room extremely narros.

This was a fairly decent hotel in old Palermo. Our room was huge and very clean. Most times I like to stay right in the center of town but in this case I am not sure it was worth it. This part of Palermo basically shuts down at night with few dining choices or entertainment.

The room we stayed at(room 13) was off the street so it was pretty quiet and warm. The manager Paolo was kind, friendly and always welcoming. Thank you, Paolo, you were great. Breakfast was decent and plentiful. The area wasn't desirable but close to train and bus stations. We were satisfied with our room and price was good.

It is a very nice historical building. Room rates are very cheap for the excellent services provided. Breakfast is good, not various but we couldn't pretend more for a so cheap rate. We stayed there in February, and the hotel, like all the reaturants and the bars in Palermo is not well heated. The climate in Sicily is very mild, but in winter it would be more confortable some more heating!

I enjoyed my stay at this hotel. The best part was the helpfulness and friendliness of the front desk. The rooms are not too spacious, and the hotel is not in the best part of town, but it was fine for me, and I would recommend this hotel to single travelers or younger couples - there is no elevator.

Nice little hotel in the south part of Palermo historical center. Walking distance from many interesting places to see. Nice and very kind people to welcome you and to give advices. Huge room on via Maqueda, noisy but not if you keep window closed (it was January). Very small (and not in very good conditions) bathroom. Nice mattress. Good breakfast (croissant, bread, juices, oranges, all fresh). The room was a bit smelling of smoke. A double room + breakfast for 30euros per night is a reeeeeeally good quality/price ratio (it was an Internet offer). Approved.

The hotel at first was ok. The building is old, the staff was quite indifferent when we came in and the room was full of little bugs that we couldn't sleep!! We asked the receptionist to change room but there wasn't any available. The room was very noisy and i hated the place because of the hotel. I can say it was the worst hotel in all Europe!!!

We chose this just as an overnight stop-over to fly out of Palermo the next day. For this purpose, it suited us well. If staying for longer, it is fine as a budget base to explore the city; you wouldn't choose it for the room as such (although it was spacious with high ceilings and quiet enough. The services were sufficient.

Rooms are spacious and apparently clean.... but if you look into the details.... nobody cleaned under the beds! There were still some bags there.... The bathroom is very at the limit of the accepted cleanless... It is very very reduced. The quality vs price is good if you consider the position of the hotel, that is absolutely in town center, just 10 minutes walking from the train station. The hotel is noisy specially when breakfast begins.

I was travelling with a friend - we were pleasantly surprised by how big our room was, how central we were and how clean it was. Really nice staff as well. It's not flashy - but a real bargain. I guess some rooms on the road could be noisy and I did notice other rooms weren't as big as ours

Location - close enough to the train station to be easy to reach on foot, but far enough to be in a nicer area. Exit train station and just walk straight ahead until you see a sign for the hotel on your left and walk past all the bikes. No elevator. Staff very friendly. Room very clean, good enough for the price. Only problem is there really is nothing close by to grab a bite to eat. nor did I find a nearby supermarket or alimentari.

As the Hotel Sicilia is quite in the centre of Palermo it is rather noisy - but also lively. The staff was very nice and always helpful. The 2nd night we changed our room as we got our third friend with us. There we were surprised by two cockroaches and insisted to change the room which was immediately possible thanks to the very nice staff. So thank you for an interesting, exciting and lively stay at your place!

The room is probably clean but because the whole building is old and in a not so clean district, I was not quite convinced. The cigaret burns on the blanket did not improved my conviction. The bathroom/toilet is extremely small and needs a good springcleaning badly. Toilet ring was loose and actually broken. Technical services tighten the ring but it would have been better if they had replaced the ring. Quite painful to sit on a broken toilet ring actually. Staff was very helpful and friendly. No complaints about breakfast. No complaints about the distance to the railway station and the centre of Palermo.

This hotel was excellent in terms of location. We were able to walk to/from the train station with our luggage with no problem. The area was fine and we were not at all intimidated by the surroundings - in fact we walked from the hotel to the area where we could catch the sightseeing bus and it was great. There were plenty of restaurants and shops within walking distance also. The breakfast was also very nice. The room was very clean and we had plenty of space. You do have to walk up several flights of stairs and that could be an issue for some people. Also, instead of having a room with two beds, we were given a room with one large bed and told that no other rooms were available so...

A friend and I spent 4 nights here, end of March. It was clean and cheap and in a convenient location. The staff were polite and helpful. Breakfast was adequate, but the coffee and water for tea could have been hotter. However, the noise inside the hotel was terrible. Door slamming and loud talking in reception at all hours of the night was just crazy.I had an inside room and earplugs, but my friend had a room on the Via Maqueda, and next to the reception and she didn't sleep at all. They really need to do something about the door closures, noisy keys you struggled to get in the lock and the staff need to stop talking loudly in reception. Not the place for anti smokers either, as people smoke in the rooms and in reception.

The hotel was very well located near bus/train station. The room we stayed in was very spacious and clean with a big bathroom. The noise from outside was very loud and almost unbearable. Thankfully I brought ear plugs which blocked out some of the noise however if you are a light sleeper you would find it difficult to sleep. There was a balcony in our room which was nice to sit out on. The staff were competent but not very friendly. However I would recommend staying in this hotel if you want to view Palermo.

We stayed in Hotel Sicilia for an overnight. It is strategically located with it's proximity to Railway Station, Bus Departures, Shopping Area and historic centre. There are however no decent restaurants in the immediate vicinity of the hotel and one has look out for the 4 canti area for some restaurants. Being on one of the main streets (via Maqueda), many of the rooms facing the main street are expected to be quite loud (our room was one of them and we could not sleep until midnight when vehicles reduced). We reported bugs in the beds (they did bit us at night)to the receptionist. He seemed to avoid the complaint with a sort of nosyness with a possible lame show-off of having taken the matter into account. This is a place to stay (definitely without the bugs) for short duration in order to hop to other cities in Sicily.

There was actually no internet at the hotel. The pictures make the entry walkway look nicer than it actually is. And while the street noise wasn't a problem, the noise coming from the lobby was loud during the night (talking on the phone and the internet) which made it hard to fall asleep.

Camera doppia pagata 48 euro, ottimo rapporto qualità-prezzo. Lo consiglio a tutti.

This is an old-time hotel in a good central location at a budget price. We enjoyed it, but it's definitely NOT for people looking for a "hotel experience". We stayed there twice. Pretty good hotel for the price. Located on the 1st floor of what seems to have been once a mansion. The (double) rooms we had were quite spacious (I recommend n° 14), each with a balcony. The shower/bathroom isn't exactly modern, but it's decent. The room is pretty quiet, though our rooms were almost on the corner of a small street (Davisi) and via Maqueda (one of the 2 major streets in the city). Good location, near the train station and tourist sites. The only negative points are that there are lots of stairs to get to the hotel and to the rooms, and that there's no breakfast. But there are little cafes everywhere. The staff is nice, polite and helpful. I'd also recommend a restaurant nearby - from the hotel, go down via Davisi to via Roma and cross the street. It's on a little square/place. Great food at reasonable prices. Called Vecchio Locanda or something like that.

We stayed for a night at the beginning and at the end of our week in Sicily & chose this hotel for its low price & proximity to the station & coach to airport. We were delighted. The location was not at all insalubrious; just off the main road, so not too noisy, and the walk along the back street from the Via Roma is not scary. I wouldn't do it at 2am on my own, but felt completely safe at 10pm with my husband & our 2 year old son. We stayed in 2 different rooms, one was positively palatial, with newly done bathroom, the other was absolutely fine. Outstanding value for money at the prices quoted... however we ended up paying 80 euros per night for 2 adults & a small child, which didn't seem such a bargain. I'd recommend it to anyone for its position.

The hotel staff were friendly and helpful, and the hotel was in a great location, very close to the bus station. Unfortunately this did not make up for the fact that our room (room 6) was so noisy. There are two boilers on the wall and every 20 minutes or so they fire up with a loud whine followed by an incessant ticking, all night. Also we could hear everything that went on in reception, every phone call, every visitor. My girlfriend slept through some of it but I got no sleep at all. Considering the website claims the hotel has "sound proof" rooms, this was pretty bad. Perhaps other rooms are okay, but I'd ask for a room away from reception area, and check the walls for combi boilers!!

I only stayed in the hotel for one night before joining my daughter at her hotel, the Grand das Palmas. The night clerk was extremely helpful and cooperative. The owner understandably less so. He requested that I pay for two nights which I did. Although the area was fine during the day, I had not realized that the hotel was in an area not hospitable to an elderly lady once night fell. I should have been better informed. My mistake not theirs. Thank you. Otherwise, the trip was fine. My family was all born in la province de Palermo and we enjoyed finding my family's old home; a thrill to talk to people familiar with my family. All in all a delightful trip.

Our room was located 1st one next to lobby, so we were kept awake all night to the constant buzzing of the door entry (which was being ignored, or rang by very impatient patrons), and phone ringing. The worst part was the smoking by the staff which we were greeted to as we walked in the lobby, and the smoking in the lobby continued all night, which due to placement of our room, we had to suffer through all night. The room itself was spacious and pretty clean, however the bed and pillows were in serious need of update and replacement. I would suggest NO SMOKING by the staff inside the facility, nighttime noise control on the door buzzer, and update beds and pillows.

Leider sehr laut wegen der Hauptstrasse an der unser Zimmer lag.

I stayed at this hotel for two nights. The reviews in this website and others were very helpful. I knew what to expect for, and was not disapointed. For this I thank all the reviewers! The ups: The place was clean. That was the most important thing for me. The price is the best I could find for this type of hotel. This is also important. The hotel is located in the center of town, which is good for the travelers by public transportation (5 minutes walk from the central train and bus station). The breakefast was quite reasonable. The room was nice, with a high ceiling, and an airconditioner, very important if you come in the summer. The downs: There were some disadvantages I learned of from other reviewers: The trouble in finding the hotel, the weak stream at the shower, the anoying door bell and the noise from the street (which wasn't that bad after closing the window and shades). There were two other things which I found myself: The hotel is in the second floor, and no one will help you carry your luggage upstairs. The matrass was an old spring matrass, with bumps. This was quite anoying, though, for me, bearable. The receptcion clearks were nice, and knew some English. To conclude: this is a very good choice for the single traveler who needs a bed for a night or two.

The hotel was easily reached from the stazione centrale after a short (~4 min) walk. The hotel staff were very friendly and helpful, offering suggestions of where to go out for a meal nearby. Our room was reached via a narrow set of staircases and was big and clean with aircon, while our bathroom was across the hallway. I would recommend this hotel as a handy short stay due to its proximity to the station and to the Via Maqueda and Via Roma.

We stayed here twice. Good value for money. Excellent location. Only a stroll to central station, the four churches, and cathedral etc. Rooms clean and spacious and bathrooms OK. Our first stay here was in a room by the reception. I would avoid this room, as the noise over night (with people ringing to get in etc) was loud and regular. However, on second stay we were in a room away from reception - very quiet and private. Would recommend for budget traveller who wants to be in heart of Palermo. We'll likely stay here again.

We really enjoyed our 3 day stay in Hotel Sicily. Its location is ideal, especially if you are planning to use the public transport as it’s so close to the Central Station. The room was very clean and relatively quite. There was certainly no noise coming up from the busy street below. However, if you are going to stay in room number 21, be prepared to wake up every morning around 7:45. The room is very close to the breakfast room and the staff can be somewhat noisy. Overall, the hotel offers excellent value for money. PS: The English notices around the hotel are hilarious as they obviously just used the Google translator.

We stayed 2 days in Palermo, the hotel was almost excellent concerning the price. Especially the breakfastroom is very nice, the breakfast itself very good for Italian standard and the employees at breakfast and the reception are (gay)friendly and helpful. The only disappointment is the bathroom: too small, a bad shower and difficult to get hot & warm water right. A very nice family hotel.

This was a nice surprise! We only stayed for a night, but it was a good experience. Very nice people and the hotel is really cute. I'll definitely go back if I'm ever in Palermo again.

It was a nice hotel, first time we stayed there, quiet enough, friendly staff, good value for money. We had a rental car, and the car park location was a distance from the hotel and a little awkward, but parking seems to be at a premium in Palermo so it was worth the small trouble involved.

We arrived at the train station and followed directions for the hotel which is a short walk thankfully, looking at the photo provided made it difficult to find the hotel as this is not the street view but a view from within the hotel, but street signs enabled us to find it. At arriving at the hotel we recieved our key but had to ask for information regarding the hotel services such as breakfast and closing times the only town maps available in the hotel are a bus sightseeing leaflet. The room was clean but very noisy from neighbours more so than street noise, this made the stay not as relaxed as it could be. The bathroom was pokey and our shower was dreadful, more like a leaky tap. Commuication with staff was okay but diffcult at times. The location of this hotel for the price cannot be beaten but it could do with some improvements to the rooms to make a more enjoyable stay.

Palermo parties...all night! If you don't like city noise, don't go to Palermo. Also, if you've never driven in Italy, don't let Palermo be your first experience. And, if you do decide to drive, absolutely DO NOT MISS THE EXIT off of the 'highway.' It's impossible to turn around. We magically found the hotel after surviving traffic for about 1.5 hours. Other than that, accomodations were as expected. We loved our room (soaring ceilings and original details), breakfast was nothing special, and parking is thru an independant outside of the hotel, but gated and locked. Most of staff does not speak English. We probably won't return to this hotel, but then again, we probably will never return to Palermo!

Having been warned that rooms on the street were noisy, I asked for a quiet room when booking. I then phoned the hotel the night before our arrival and they confirmed that they had reserved a quiet room for us. However when we got there, they had only a noisy room available.

The hotel is very poorly located and is very noisy!! The staff does not speak any english so that was very hard for all of us. They advertise things that they do not have RE: valet service, shuttle to and from train or airport. There are none!! No laundry service the closet was 2 miles away. The rooms were very cold and had refrig. but were not plugged in. The beds were very uncomfortable. I would not stay there again and would tell everyone to be sure and check on the ammendities before they go there as they are not true. It was so noisy we couldn't even sleep, the area is rundown and in an alley way. Would not suggest going there! The breakfast was about the only thing that was great about the stay there. The staff was friendly and tried to help us with locations.

Hotel Sicilia is right in the heart of the historic quarter. It is near the central train station from which you can get anywhere. The staff is very friendly and flexible though they did not have anything about the tourist attractions in Palermo and we had to go to the Tourist office. Otherwise clean, and good value.

We loved this hotel. It had a lot of character, strange courtyards, all the rooms were different. the location was convienent, but Palermo is small and we like to walk, so anywhere would have been okay. The breakfast was not good, but there were many great cafes nearby, so it was not a problem. we would definitely stay here again.

Comfortable rooms in a great location. Very difficult to find by car, as there are no street signs with names in Palermo. Parking was very difficult. Beds were comfortable and the air conditioning was great. They rushed us out in the morning by calling the rooms 10 minutes before check out. If you are up early, it's no problem, but there was a festival the night before and no one was back at the hotel until after 2:00 a.m. I have been to Italy many times and usually the hotels are a little more flexible about checkout, especially after the last night of a week-long festival. I have never had anyone call us and tell us that we have to leave "NOW". Aside from that, it is a very comfortable hotel and I would return...if I could ever find it again... It is very difficult. Take a taxi from the airport!
