Massimo Plaza Hotel de Charme - Palermo
Via Maqueda 437 - Palermo
877-662-6988As part of the architectural restoration and urban renewal of Palermo promoted by the city authorities, the proeprty has been refurbished throughout and today it certainly boasts exceptional standards of accommodation.
Extensive restoration works have involved meticulous accuracy of details and the outcome is apparent with the stupendous décor and harmonious colours of the property's interior.
The hotel offers elegantly appointed accommodation, a fine bar and most importantly quiet and attentive personal service.
From June 15th until September 15th, the hotel offers a shuttle service (subject to charges) to and from a private beach equipped with beach umbrellas, deck loungers, and locker room.
The relationship between price/quality could be improved. Other Hotel in the same area offer more services (breakfast rooms with buffet, public areas, elevator, etc)...

The relationship between price/quality could be improved. Other Hotel in the same area offer more services (breakfast rooms with buffet, public areas, elevator, etc) at best prices on your web.

The room was clean and well furnished. The bathroom was large and very clean. Breakfast was served promptly in our room. The staff was friendly and helpful. The only drawback is that this hotel is located on the first floor of a building. The staircase leading to the front door is steep and there is no elevator. When we arrived we had heavy luggage and there was no hotel staff to help us with it. The hotel is centrally located in the city centre, close to many tourist attractions, shops and restaurants.

Dont be intimidated by the arrival - its a narrow entrance with a darkish staircase but once up the stairs you realise why etc, especially when greeted by the friendly receptionist and helpful porter and air conditioned lobby - I guess they realise that the first impression can be a little "whats all this ??!!". Great location.

The hotel was excellently located and cannot really be faulted - although it was rather anonymous and I felt we could have been staying anywhere - it had no real charm. I think next time I would try somewhere a little cheaper as it was quite expensive compared to some others on the site, and therefore find somewhere with a little more character. I didn't like the fact that breakfast was served in the bedroom. Having said that the staff were very friendly and helpful - so I enjoyed the stay very much.

Excellent hotel with great and convenient location. Hotel Desk staff was particular outstanding - among the most congenial and most helpful of our entire trip. Rooms were large and comfortable. Breakfast was contintental, but very good. It was served directly to our room rather than in a common dining area. Access was up a long flight of stairs, for anyone with a disability. There may have been another access but it wasn't obvious. I highly recommend this hotel.

I enjoyed staying at this hotel. The staff was friendly and helpful, the public space is charming, my room was small but had plenty of closet space, and the buffet breakfast was delicious. It is a lovely, old world hotel in a good location for an excellent price.

My friends and I were thrilled with the hotel! The staff was friendly and informative, efficient and thoughtful. The location was perfect for touring all of Palermo. The beds and linens were sumptuous--the best we had in all of Sicily. I would highly recommend the Massimo Plaza Hotel to anyone visiting the city.

Massimo Hotel is outstanding! The hotel is centrally located between old Palermo and new Palermo. Although we used the hotel primarily as a resting place while we visited a hometown about 1.5 hours away, we highly recommend it. The service is UNMATCHED anywhere in the world. On our day of arrival the hotel staff assisted in hiring a car for the day, served many times as translator for us, had excellent restaurant suggestions, proved resourceful when Alitalita went on strike and we faced driving 10 hours to catch a flight from Rome (they found us other flight accommodations), and were excellent at suggesting sights when we only had 1/2 day to tour Palermo. Gabriella was specifically fantastic! But, the whole staff from the desk to the breakfast servers to the bellboy and the lounge servers were friendly, accommodating, and displayed hospitality that we never experience in the US. We highly, highly recommend Massimo Plaza Hotel.

The Massimo Plaza is well run, clean, comfortable, and well located. The breakfast was minimal ( juice, a role, and coffee). The hotel (really a collection of 10 rooms, a reception desk, and a small sitting area, all on one floor)should be called a bed and breakfast, not a hotel. As a B&B I'd rate it fairly high; as a hotel, it hardly qualifies. Its location, however, is excellent, right in the center of Palermo across the street from the opera house. We enjoyed our stay, but given the very modest facilities and the skimpy breakfast, the price we paid (190 Euros per night for a double)was high.

Rooms a litle bit tiny vs. price paid. Breakfast so and so: industrial orange juice in Sicily?????? Staff and personnel absolutely excellent.

Our stay was satisfactory. There are 25 or so steps required to be climbed to enter the hotel. One employee at reception was distinctly unhelpful when we asked for help in making a dinner reservation. I think we'll stay elsewhere if we return to Palermo.

Everything was very good. The only thing was that we were in a room with a window on the little street in the back of the holtel. All the mornings there was a loud continuous noise of a big metal shutting door. Very annoying..
