We arrived very early in the am, before 8am, right off of the overnight boat from Naples so left bags at the hotel and had the best walk around Palermo before the city traffic started. So much more of a beautiful city than expected and enjoyed some street food, namely the famous panella paninis in one of the night markets near the Kalsa district.

For downtown Palermo I should think this is goodish value. Also for downtown Palermo the parking arrangements were good: secure parking (!4 euros a night) at no very great distance. If, that is, you are fool enought to take a car into central Palermo. Good restaurants within very easy reach.

First time to Palermo, and having adjusted to the busy-ness and jostling, always-on-the-go people and traffic, I realised that Hotel Joli was a haven. It is right in the heart of the town, and so easy access to plenty of places to eat/drink - ranging from the less expensive to the most expensive. Being in the heart of a bustling city, it is not for the person who wants a quiet room. I was in room 105 - a corner room at an intersection - spacious, clean, interesting Sicilian furniture (not standard hotel issue). Ensuite has everything in it, and wastes no space. My booking was for a 'superior' room. The breakfasts are continental and generous. Internet free and worked well for emails, and a bit 'sticky' for VPN and youtube. For me it was definitely 'top of the *** range'. Walking distance to the airport bus. Palermo itself is not free of litter; and I'm not sure how good it feels about itself. Hotel Joli was a v good place for me to stay.

We had a quad room at Joli which was charming. The hotel staff were extremely helpful and courteous. While not close to the station, the hotel is in an excellent location close to all many attractions and the bus stop for the tourist bus and it's close to good eateries. Buffet breakfast was also very good (by Italian standards). We would definitely stay there again!

The Hotel was beautiful but the staff advised me to call Alitalia from my room phone when there was a problem with my flight They charged me 50 euro for 5 minutes of phone call They gave me wrong directions to the bus for the airport They said it was two streets away...actually about 10 and a 15 minutes walk...lucky i can speak italian...locals gave me directions...

A conveniently located, clean hotel. All the staff are very friendly and helpful. Unfortunately we had room 104. This room is like a basement room (not actually in the besement though) without proper window. So, as some others mantioned, it's dark and a bit gloomy. All other rooms seem to have proper big window(s) with some view (of street or balcony or piazza in front of the hotel). Probably we could have asked to change the room, but for us the room was just for sleep. So we were not bothered too much. But if it bothers you, when booking, you should mention 'not room 104'. If you have sweet tooth, you'll be happy about the breakfast. Various cakes, buiscuits are in the buffet. In the breakfast room there is a PC for free use for the guests (ask the receptionist). The bus stop for the airport is just around the corner. 5-10 minutes walk brings you to the central palermo. Several good trattoria/ristrante/bars are nearby. Overall, we are very happy about the stay at hotel Joli and mad city Palermo!

Very stylishly decorated rooms (and hotel generally). Staff were very helpful with all our questions and other requests eg including to check out a little later, so that we could squeeze in one more tourist visit before going to the airport. Our room was compact - like most in Italy - but adequate. The hotel is well situated, one block off Via Roma, and generally quiet but we found it best to close the window and use the air conditioning on the weekend nights.

Upon our arrival in Sicily, Hotel Joli was the first hotel we stayed in and we did not feel the welcoming atmosphere that we expected or had experienced at other hotels in Italy. The desk clerk on Friday, October 2 was not at all friendly or helpful. The answer to the question below is that I would not recomment this property.

Hotel Joli was a very pleasant hotel, close to everything but in a nice part of town with a park in front. The staff were very welcoming and helpful even lending us an umbrella when we had to return to the airport to collect our delayed luggage. Very nice breakfasts too.

We only had three days in Palermo, wish we had more time. Great city! The rooms at Joli were spacious and lovely, as was the "sitting" area on each floor. Loved the pink marble in the stairway. Best free breakfast of the three weeks we were in Italy. Joli staff spoke English well, and were very helpful with advice on navigating the city. Great neighborhood; close to sightseeing and quiet enough to rest, and good eats nearby. The caffe fredo acorss the street is to die for.

Nice and clean hotel. Very helpful staff explained things and answered many many questions. My first time in Sicily (and a woman traveling alone) so I needed lots of help -- city bus stops & routes, map orientation for sites I wanted to visit in Palermo, help with schedules and buying tickets for buses and trains to other cities --they enabled me to see so much. I speak some Italian so that enabled me to get detailed answers (but they don't speak much English).

Hotel Joli is in a great location in Palermo. It is close to markets, shops and walking distance to all major sites. It is also opposite great restaurants. It has an appeal in its decore and rooms are spacious, clean. Staff are helpful, breakfast good. We would recommend and stay at the Hotel Joli again, it was a great stay.

My wife and I had a wonderfully 'sympatico' room. (A Junior Suite on the south corner of the first floor with lovely views of the square)). The decoration was gorgeous baroque which the photos did not do justice too. Our son had a single room on the 3rd floor which was adequate but less spectacular. No hotel restaurant but a couple of good restaurants across the street.

Hotel Joli is in a great location, with a truly wonderful restaurant across the street. Our room was huge and beautifully decorated. The breakfast was excellent with good service. The front desk service was adequate, but not the friendlies we've experienced in Italy. We found little English spoken anywhere in Sicily, as compared to the rest of Italy.

This hotel is not for those who are light sleepers or bothered by noise! The little square in front of the hotel is quiet active and the roar of engines can be distressing. Reception staff -- some of whom are pleasant - lacks English. The reception area offers no place to sit -- not a single chair. The elevator is very small and confining.

The room was reached by a steep winding staircase and would be completely unsuitable for an older or even partly disabled person. The bar was seldom, if ever, open. However the location is very good and there are good restaurants nearby, and the staff (most of them) were helpful and friendly.
