Hotel Gallery House - Palermo

The room is not bright and not airy

This hotel was a major disappointment. We had stayed there 3 years ago and liked it very much, but this time we soon realized that it had changed for the worse. In particular, some of the registration desk employees clearly were not interested in dealing clients and, when a relative tried to reach us as a result of a family emergency, this took a phone call, three e-mails, and 24 hours. The staff's excuse was that no one at the hotel at that time spoke English. The hotel does offer a central location and low prices, but currently that's the sum total of its attractiveness.

Room cleaned, quite comfortable but the view from the windows was very poor. It looked like a room with no windows at all... Only a very slow lifter available (no stairs!) The entrance of the hotel is also a bit gloomy and inside an ugly urban gallery... I experienced problems in the evening with missing hot water on the shower and such problem could not be solved until tomorrow. Good and complete breakfast and quite nice breakfast room. Limited common spaces but acceptable considering that we are in the center of Palermo. Nice and kind personnel even if not extremely reliable for tourism information... Genrally speaking however the hotel can represent an acceptable tradeoff taking into consideration the position and the price.

The pictures on Venere.com and the price of 300Euro for three days seemed flattering. But the day before departure I found by coincidence a twopage article in the Norwegian newspaper, Aftenposten, from the spring 2008. There, Gallery House was the worst of five hotels in Palermo.Therefore, our expectations were not high. On arrival we found that the hotel is in a center of large buldings among other hotels,offices etc; very grey and particularly not interesting. The lift was old, with space for only 2 persons and two suitcases! It took a long time to get one floor up, and once it stopped.... The air inside the lift was not acceptable. The room was ok, but the doors between the bathroom and the livingroom makes a lot of noice in the morning. When your neighbors start their morning rituales and open their doors to the bathroom, you can forget to sleep anymore. The safe did not work, and the staff tried to solve the problem. She suggested that the manager could come to the room and change the code.... On my question, she answered that the hotel could make a new code. It means that the hotel actually has access to the contents of the safe....! But as I told the staff with a smile; this IS Parlermo! I just forgot the safe. The breakfast was good, and the service in the breakfastroom was very good. But alltogehter, this was not my paradise! An one question: Why was there no comments the last months on Venere.com? Are they cancelled or what?

Very nice hotel with very welcoming and professional staff. We reccomend it.

Perfect hotel to visit the centre pf Palermo.

Great place to stay

We stayed in Palermo for four days in the course of a 3-week trip. The hotel is located at the edge of the downtown district, about 15 minutes from the Quattro Canti area. We had a junior suite, and it was large and very quiet; everything worked in our room. The hotel staff was very helpful and informative. Don't be put off by the appearance of the location, on an unattractive passageway between two streets. This is a very good hotel.

We spent 3 nights of our honey moon at this hotel. Rooms are nice, we had 1 junior suite for 2 nights and 1 doubble-room for the 3rd. night. Surpringingly, the doubble is much better than the junior suite! BUT: The photo you see in the internet is totally missleading. The hotel entrance is UGLY, as the hotel is not in a street, but inside a bulding. Another problem is the elevator, it is absolutely claustrophobic and there are no stairs. Also the rooms are NOT well ventilated and they have zero view. We do NOT recomend this hotel (although rooms ARE nice in furniture and decoration). Maybe good if you are in Palermo purely for business; otherwise, stay somewhere else. Staff and location are good, but still, you don't want to stay here.

Excellent address, for the central location, for the general aspect of the hotel and kindness and competence of the personel. A somewhat weak point would be the breakfast, strictly continental, and with coffee and tea not in self-service.

In a building with other hotels, this was very welcoming, and the breakfast staff was especially cheery. Rooms were clean and comfortable (with hardish beds), bathroom terrific, and location great.

Bell'hotel nuovo e pulito forse un pò caro per un 3 stelle. Stanze un pò piccole ma per essere un 3 stelle va bene, a due passi dal centro (Politeama) e dalla fermata dell'autobus che fa la spola con l'aeroporto. Personale simpatico e colazione buona.

It would be invidious to try to think of something worth complaining about; the hotel was very pleasant, as described (to the letter) and the staff were extremely courteous. Perhaps, I should not leave a comment so soon after my visit to Palermo, where I only had occasion of meeting pleasant and very courteous people. In our case, the impressions Palermo left on us, the courtesy of the hotel staff, would make it difficult to try to imagine an unpleasant aspect to our stay.

Piccolo ma nuovissimo ed accagliente hotel in ottima posizione. delizioso ,ottima colazione,gentili. pulitissimo e ben arredato,con gusto. unica "pecca" ma superabilissima le stanze un pò piccoline

Stuffs are very helpful and the hotel has a very nice atmospher. I like to use again.

This is a nice, reasonably priced hotel and it's in a very good area for exploring Palermo.

Traumhafte, topsaubere Zimmer mitten in Palermo !!!
