I loved this hotel, the staff were extremely welcoming and helpful. My room was lovely - spacious and very clean, with a balcony, I really felt I was in Italy. The staff at the other two hotels I stayed in on this trip insisted on speaking in English, it was nice that Hotel Centro staff spoke firstly in Italian, and took the time to wait until I could translate in my head and answer in Italian.

The hotel is on the second floor of an apartment block with an old-fashioned lift from street level. The communal areas are beautiful and quite classy. There is a pretty breakfast room with two small balconies so you can look over the street. The staff were very polite and welcoming and spoke good English. My room was large with a very small bathroom (a larger person than me would have had difficulty sitting on the loo!) The small yard it looked out on seemed to have water dirpping down into it all the time but as I needed the air-con on and the window shut (it was very hot) this was not a problem. The air-con comes on automatically 20:00-08:00. Extremely convenient for the station and the airport bus this is a good hotel for a stop-over in Palermo (I used it for one night at the end of my holiday) but also within easy walking distance of the heart of the city and the sight-seeing bus. Very nice breakfast with plenty of variety.

We were lucky as we had a room which did not seem to have any neighbours as there were service/staff closets on both sides. It also faced the back (main road along the front) and therefore it was very quiet. You get what you pay for and I felt the value was very good. Only minor negative points: had to liaise with reception every time we wanted to turn the air conditioning on or off & the free WiFi was given in 30 minute increments and did not work in our room meaning we had to sit in the lobby. As I said, minor complaints and overall I was very satisfied. I would stay there again.

The proximity to the train station was excellent--4 blocks. Everything was perfect at this hotel except the view from Room 6. The room was spacious and clean. I opened the balcony doors and stepped out--lovely view until I looked down. There was a trash heap directly under our window--not a dumpster but a hill of bagged trash. It was cold while we were there and we never had a bad odor off of the heap even though we had the doors open every night. I would definitely stay at the Hotel Del Centro but I would request any room but Room 6. I would score the location as an eleven if I could.

Everything was right. One of the employees was not as friendly as he could have been, but he was helpful. The toilet had a very noisy extractor fan that started several minutes after the light was on and did not stop when the light was switched off. The only solution was to use the switch for the light above the sink, that did not trigger the fan. In November there was no noise at night. Perhaps in summer it is quite noisy. Nice breakfast, and very good location near the train station, the boundary of the "good part" of the city.

The hotel is on the 2nd floor of a building near the train station. When a couple and I arrived, the elevator stayed on the 2nd floor even though we have pressed the "down" button. As a result, we had to climb 2 floors with our luggage. The man in the couple helped me carry my luggage. On the floor where the reception is, there are rooms but I believe they are for couples/families. Near the reception, there is another spiral staircase which leads to other rooms. I was given Room 25 above that staircase. So I had to climb the staircase with my luggage again. The room was small and noisy because of some running machines. I complained the next day and was given Room 26. It was bigger and quieter but there was a smell of cigarette smoke which did not dissipate even after I had checked out. The shower head in the bathroom is fixed onto the wall and the receptionist said that all bathrooms had the same design. This was not what I requested. The shower area has no holder for soap or shampoo. Breakfast was OK. Good points about the hotel are its proximity to the train station and the provision of free internet service. But on the whole, the hotel is not good value for money. Palermo is a smelly city because of exhaust fumes from vehicles. Roads are narrow and pavements are miserable. Drivers, especially motorcyclists, do not observe traffic rules. Not a good place to visit.

This is the worst property I have ever booked on Venere. It is in a semi-seedy area (near the train station). The area was noisy. Garbage was strewn about under our window. The room wasn't anything like the photos. We checked out after our first night and had to pay an extra day. Avoid this hotel. There are much better properties in Palermo at competitive prices (or very little more).

Summary: I was travelling with my wife. We thoroughly enjoyed the stay at this hotel. It is at a 5 min walk from the train station and 10 minutes from Vittorio Emanuele, the main street. The rooms are spacious, the bathrooms have been upgraded to excellente standards, breakfast was quite nice and the staff helpful. The hotel is suitable for couples of any age that want a nice room and a basic, clean place. We will go back to Sicily next year and, when in Palermo, we will certainly stay at Centro.

As promised we were met at the airport and transported to the hotel. We were also returned to the airport exactly as scheduled. No stress! The staff were very friendly, professional, accommodating and competent. Room was spacious, quiet and very clean. Air conditioning was available. Complimentary continental breakfasts were plentiful and delicious. Felt safe in the location and our primary decision for the location was the easy access to the train station, which made it easy and efficient to reach any location we desired. Highly recommend Hotel del Centro!

Good breakfast and very nice reception space and breakfast room. The guy at the reception gave us a ticket offering us a 20% discount at a nearby restaurant - which was good. Although the hotel is greatly located (i.e. in via Roma, very close to the central railway station, Corso Vittorio Emanuele and the main places of attraction in Palermo) we did not find our stay at the hotel very pleasant as the room was not very clean and the bathroom in particular was very small, badly smelling and not properly cleaned.

Hotel Del Centro's principle positive point is it's location and the quality of the service provided. As it sates on the website, it is about a 10 min walk from the train station. It is conveniently situated, a walkable distance from the main tourist sights. The staff were extremly pleasant and helpful, and made us feel very welcome, even thought we arrived at 11 30 pm! The rooms are very basic: clean, but very dark. The air con is noisy but bearable (the heat would have been unbearable without it!) Good breakfast. I personnaly did not like Palermo much, but met other tourists who absolutly loved it, so i guess it's down to individual taste and what you are looking for in your holiday. I was looking to 'chill' and found Palermo rather stessful: noisy, dirty saw the body of a dead cat on the streets which really put me off!!! The architecture is, however, amazing: beautiful exemples of Baroque and Rococco edifices, as well as more basic residential buildings painted intypically bright mediterranean colours. Goign back to the hotel, it does what it says on the can, cheap, central, clean. Would we go back there? Probably not.

The hotel is in an old residential building at the main street and the furnishing and equipment in the hotel interior are also old. What I got most irritated with the hotel is the cheating attitude of the staff. When we (my busband and me) first arrived at the hotel, the staff at the reception counter said he had reserved a very quiet room for us according to our request. It was at the end of the corridor with a spiral staircase connecting the bed area and the toilet. We insistsed to have a look first and found it a very very tiny room. The bed was upstairs with a tiny bathroom and wardrobe downstairs. As it was so squeezed and odd to have to climb up and down the spiral staircase within the room, we refused to take it and finally got a more normal double room. When we later studied the floor plan of the hotel at the corridor, we found that the first room offered to us was not a guest room but marked "private" on the floor plan. We felt that the staff was cheating us.

Venere.com told me exactly what I would be getting here, a centrally located hotel without many frills. I found the breakfast atmosphere and content quite good and sufficient. This hotel is a very decent value. Not too far from the beautiful botanical gardens. There was a slightly "dusty" feeling to the room and the pillow was not very substantial. The proximity to the train station was most important to me. Restaurants were not as numerous as I thought they would be around the area. The controlled access to the hotel made it feel very safe.

The hotel is very well located in the center of the town. Personnel is very helpfull. Rooms are small. Palermo stinks. One big disadvantage. As we had to leave at 07:00 hrs to be at the airport in time we could not make use of the breakfast service (07:30 hrs). A hotel which one really can recommend most of the sights can be visited on foot.English-speaking staff, very good breakfast, spaceous rooms. A bus stop is in front of the hotel. The only problem is the parking space, but if you arrive between 1-3p.m. you may be lucky (as we were.) Ein kleines, feines Hotel mitten in Palermo, ruhig, gediegen, sehr gutes Frühstück, Angestellte sprechen Englisch Sehenswürdigkeiten gut zu Fuß erreichbar, sonst fährt ein Bus.Einziges Problem, das Parken! In my opinion this is a great hotel if you want to be in the centre of Palermo and do not want to spend all day actually sitting in the Hotel room. We love getting out and about, seeing the sights and walking around so it was great for us. Really good for the railway station too. We ended up having two rooms due to our wanting to stay for more two more days than we originally booked, we liked both but personally preferred the one with a window to the surrounding streets (the ones to the lightwell were quieter, but with less of a "big city" feel). Staff were friendly, helpful and professional, and 24 hour reception was really good. We liked it.

That was my first time in Palermo. The hotel is really in the right position for hanging about everywhere! Comfortable to get any destination. Everything was fine but some rebuilding works during our stay. A lot of noise starting from 08.00 a.m. even over the week end. Our room faced a quiet alley. Maybe rooms facing Via Roma are noisy.

The staff was really helpful and kind. The room was a little too small. Normal breakfast.

Very good value for money. On one of the main streets and a short distance from the railway station. Excellent breakfast. Staff very helpful. Some very good eating places a few blocks further on up a side street to the left. Close to some of the historic parts of Palermo.

We arrived a day early! but the desk clerk very kindly got us a room at a hotel next door He was also gave us very good restaurant recommendations. We had read that this hotel did not accept credit cards in payment, we are happy to say they now do. The puppet museum, within walking distance, was an amazing place - and we were lucky to walk in when a puppet show was taking place. It is very hard to locate, even with a map, but is near the Garibaldi Gardens.

The hotel is located on a busy main road named Via Roma. Everything you could need is a moments walk away, the train station is literally a minutes walk from the hotel... I found the staff very polite and helpful. The hotel was very clean and well looked after, the rooms are a little on the small side but come with everything required. I enjoyed my stay here and would stay again should I return to Palermo.

Albergo molto centale, elegante e pulito. Accettano solo contanti.

I came to Palermo to join the conference at the University of Palermo. I chose Hotel Del Centro because of its prize and its location in the center of the town. If you plan to go here, don't expect hotel like in other european countries. This one was in ordinary street house, where third floor was the entire hotel Del Centro. The fourth floor was another hotel, etc. It was not easy to find it. The room I had was not so spacious as I expected, but was clean and in excelent condition. Just the window with the view to the inner courtyard was deprecated. The personal was very kind, as well as the services. For its price and its location I will recommend it.

This hotel was very easy to find and in a very good location within a 5 minute walk from the train station. It was incredibly welcoming despite our arrival being quite late in the evening, and were very helpful with any queries we had. It was excellent value for money.

This hotel had mixed reviews on trip advisor but I thought that the rooms were clean, large, and quiet. At 64 euro a night this was a bargain. We had a balcony overlooking a side street from our bathroom and our friends had a similar small balcony from their bedroom. One of the complaints was an unhelpful staff. Well, they must have read that review because they were very friendly and helpful. They pulled out maps to show us the sights and recommended restaurants in the area.

Ho prenotato 4 camere.

Very central hotel with all the necessary facilities, staff very helpful, rooms basic but great as a base. Definitely ask for a room on the side or back as it can get rather noisey.

It's a beautyful and friendly hotel. We can only recommend this place, except for the quite sparely breakfast.

I found that hotel price offered directly was cheaper than provided by Venere by 5 euro, what is not really a big deal but still strange. I marked priced quoted as poor, as only cash payment was available.
