We only stayed for one night, but it was nice and clean. Easy to get to and the view from the terrace at the top of hotel was beautiful. Breakfast was good and is on the terrace. In the evening, you can have drinks on the terrace. Was very relaxing and we enjoyed our stay.

First of all let me say yhat this is an excellent value for what we paid which was 105 euro/night. The hotel is well located, very clean and well maintained. It's roof top terrace is a beautiful place to have breakfast or to have a cocktail and relax. The downside: The Ac was not working yet which made sleeping a bit sticky with the windows open. There was much traffic noise and loud voices well into the night which could plainly be heard coming up the interior courtyard. Breakfast was marginal and understaffed for the number of people. This made for a rather sour waitstaff who were unable to keep the buffet replenished, clear tables and serve coffee adequate to the need. An oddity; signs clearly posted only one coffee per person without extra charge. This was actually OK because the coffee was only marginal at best. We would go out after breakfast to have an excellent coffee nearby. Although I don't recommend Palermo as a great destination, the hotel was a very good value at this bargain price.

There is no parking on Via Roma where the hotel is located and nearby parking is difficult, though possible, to find. And remember, there are no washclothes provided in the bathrooms in most italian hotels. And there were no bath towels available on our arrival...just smaller towels. A very good breakfast buffet on the terrace or in a room just off the terrace.

Frühstück italienisch, also gut. Der Fahrstuhl ist cool.

Siamo stati a Palermo 4 notti.

We enjoyed staying at the Ambassadors. We spent New Years Eve 2009 there and were able to view a beautiful display of fireworks from the roof/terrace of the hotel. The view of Palermo from the rooftop was spectacular since the building is one of the tallest ones in that area. The staff was also very helpful with useful suggestions.

The roof-top terrace for breakfast was a treat; the views were truly spectacular. The hotel itself is located on the upper floors and a small old lift has to be taken from the downstairs lobby to access the hotel itself. A previous correspondent noted that he asked the hotel to book a one-way taxi to Palermo airport, was quoted 50 Euros and then charged more. We did the same thing, asked the hotel to confirm the price (three times), the hotel assured us that this was the guaranteed price, and then the cab driver tried to charge more saying he had made a single trip! We only paid the agreed 50 Euros (we only had this cash visibile out of the wallet)and he backed down. On the final morning of our stay the hotel was preparing to be used as a wedding venue. This meant that staff were unable to cope during breakfast (drink orders failed to arrive) etc...

We were delighted with the hotel. It was classy, quiet and clean. Staff were very helpful. The roof garden is great. The location near the train station on a major street was very safe and though not central, it allowed us to easily get into and out of Palermo without using taxis. My only caution is that stall shower is quite small and large people might have difficulty using it.

The summer breakfast terrace on the roof is the best place in the hotel - the view from it onto the city is marvellous. The staff is friendly. Reception is on the 5th floor - unusual. The location is pretty convenient for sightseeing. The room was spacious however very plain and not very cozy. In the corridors there was a specific smell of an old building. Via Roma is a wide street, quite dirty (however it seemed typical for Palermo) with heavy traffic. But on the whole the stay was nice. The view from the roof is worth staying here!

We had a room on 5th floor which had a very nice view and was reasonably quiet, given that the hotel is in the middle of the city. The location is very central and walking distance to the major sights. Breakfast is nothing special (the usual Italian standard), but the rroftop terrace is a real treat. There's free parking in a side treet around the corner.
Canada, Sep 2008
Hotel is in a fantastic location - walking distance to all markets, most of the sites you'd want to visit and on a very good, easily accessible shopping street. The rooftop terrace is unbelievable for breakfast or for just sitting around (but who has time?). Most of the staff was courteous and helpful enough, although breakfast service was a bit frosty. Would absolutely return if ever in Palermo again.

We were very pleased with the location of the hotel on Via Roma among all the best shopping. It was also convenient for the 'sights' and for restaurants. The roof terrace was a terrific bonus as it was a really pleasant place for breakfast and operated as a bar at night. Service was very good and the room comfortable. It was surprisingly quiet given the central location of the hotel. Parking was not provided, but we were directed to a nearby 'garage' where the rates were reasonable.

We had a two night stay in the Ambasciatori in June, the room was large, slightly sparce, and had no view, having said that it was clean, very functional, and typically Italian. The reception staff were very friendly and helpful and spoke excellent English. (these maybe the only people you hear with such a command of English here )The hotel is in an excellent position to visit the sights of Palermo, we were able to walk everywhere we wanted to go. I must of course mention the roof terrace, which is possibly the most stunning breakfast setting, certainly in a city that we have ever had, and reason alone to stay at this hotel. there is also a second roof terrace with very comfortable sunbeds, which we were glad of after walking around Palermo for seven hours! It's a lovely place to relax after a long day. If we re-visit Palermo I would definitely stay again. I notice several people have commented on feeling nervous or slightly threatened in Palermo, but we didn't, maybe its because we are from a large city ourselves. We loved it here, it doesn't have any airs or graces, and neither do its people, it is dirty in parts, but the architecture and the feel of hundreds of years of history more than make up for the litter.

We have just spent 4 nights at the Ambasciatori in June 08. Had a great time. The upstairs terrace completely lived up to it's reputation - perfect start to each day before hitting the streets of Palermo. Our room was on the 5th floor at the back, well insulated from most noise others spoke of. Room was charming and light with good rooftop views. Bathroom small but spotless. Our compliments to the staff - they booked restaurants for us even in Rome (at no charge!) as our Italian is very limited. Wait staff at breakfast were terrific too. At night you will need to buzz from the street to be let in. This was never a problem even though we tended to arrive back after midnight. We found the city felt safe and loved the architecture, the markets, the food and the locals' sense of fun. Our favourite restaurant was Nabucco - very close. The appertiser of black olives, broccoli, lobster and tomato jelly had us back for seconds! Something to note - the Capella Palatina is currently closed for renovations. Don't be deterred though, the rest of the Palazzo dei Normanni is still open and is fabulous.

We arrived at this hotel having been in the air for 23 hours to a warm welcome from the reception staff. The hotel was within walking distance of the train station and in a central location for sight seeing. The breakfast on the roof top terrace was "second to none" and staff recommendation for eating at San Andrea(a bit tricky to find at first) was excellent. Our only disappointment was we failed to book an extra night for our return to Palermo but the staff managed to get us an alternative at Hotel Moderno which wasn't nearly as good.

This hotel has several great strengths, and a few weaknesses. The strengths include an excellent location on one of the main streets of Palermo--Via Roma--surrounded by attractive clothing shops and fairly close to several tourist destinations. The 16 rooms, most on the fifth floor of a large building, are fairly new, very clean and attractive, and medium in size. The hotel's roof garden, where breakfast is served, is stunning--a real winner! The staff is friendly, speaks English, and is moderately helpful with sightseeing advice. There are a few factors which will be negatives for some. First, this is more like a B&B than a hotel--no large public spaces except for the roof garden. Second, a negative for the not-too-mobile, breakfast is 32 steps up from the fifth floor to the 7th floor roof garden. Third, access to the 5th floor B&B depends on one rather old-fashioned elevator, which works fine but sometimes gets held up on other floors. Late one evening, returning to the hotel after dinner, I waited and waited on the elevator, which never came. That's how I can tell you that there are exactly 125 marble steps from the ground floor up to the 5th floor lobby and rooms! (The elevator didn't work because someone had neglected to firmly close the door.) The hotel has a good price-value ratio, clean attractive rooms, and a good location, and will be appreciated by most guests. However, those with mobility issues or those wanting more in the way of public rooms and service may want to splurge on one of the outlying luxury hotels.

Overall the hotel was fine. The location is great. Easy to walk from the train station to the hotel. The rooftop was spectacular, worth staying there just for that. The room was really noisy though. What I was unhappy about is that they advertise that they provide transportation to the airport for 35 Euros. I thought this was a lot but decided to do it, for the convenience. I was told I could have this added to my bill. What happened was that a taxi was called for us. He showed up on time and was curteous, but charged me 50 Euros. I had no choice but to pay him. They also forgot our wake up call.

We had a four night stay in Palermo. The Ambasciatore was very easy to find being on the main road a few hundred yards from the railway station. The staff were extremely friendly and helpful and the room was very clean and comfortable. It was a little noisy but that's what you expect on a main road. With the windows closed the air conditioning was very quiet. The roof top breakfast terrace had incredible views and was a welcome respite during the day from this noisy dirty city. Although a main shopping street during the day we did not like going out to eat at night as we did not feel safe in the badly lit side streets. We hated Palermo and if it hadn't been for the hotel we would have sought an early flight home.

Our room was located on the 5th floor, the window towards a rather lowd patio where constantly water rush disturbs your sleep when sleeping with an open window. The room was rather small, had no minibar or fridge and no parking possibility. We did not find the mentionned garage although we looked for it almost an hour. Going by car in Palermo is rather stressful due to the heavy traffic and the condition of the streets. We parked the car in a public parking area and paid app. € 12 per day. You will have troubles finding good restaurants in Palermo, not even near the hotel.

Very good value for money. The hotel is well situated and easy to find (about 5 mins walk from Stazione Centrale straight up via Roma). Lovely, though small room with a balcony over- looking the via Roma, with fantastic views over Palermo. Helpful staff, particualy the owner who was very approachable. It was a shame they could only recommend the restaurant Nabucco, as it didn't meet our needs so we had to keep searching. I would recommend Salsa and Tango in a little square behind the Post Office (via Roma) Fantastic breakfast setting, with a roof terrace overlooking the city. We were even treated to two nights of free live music on the terrace as part of their music festival (July / Aug 07) I would recommend this hotel and would definately stay again.

A wonderful hotel. We arrived early (took the ferry from Napoli) and wanted to simply leave our bags at the hotel while we walked around Palermo. Instead, they let us check in! The gentleman at check-in was great; very friendly and professional. The hotel was stunning, especially the rooftop view (it's better in person than in pictures). Our room was fantastic. The immediate area wasn't great, but that's Palermo for you - the street itself was a shopping paradise. We only had one complaint. We asked for a restaurant recommendation and were immediately given only one choice - Nabucco - by the front desk staff. We went, and it was overpriced and disappointing (we were the only ones there). At the end of the meal, our waiter asked how we found the place, then he proceeded to tell us that the owner of the hotel was *ALSO* the owner of the restaurant. No shock there. :-)

Once we got past all the security, which included being buzzed in at the nondescript front door, then into the fifth floor reception area, and finally onto our floor, we found a beautiful, spacious room in the heart of Palermo. We loved the hotel and appreciated the courtesy and competence of the staff. One word of advice: Do not drive in Palermo. Those gracious people you meet in a shop or restaurant turn into demons on the road. If someone followed you on the sidewalk as closely as they do in their cars, you could have them arrested for harrassment. Take the train from the airport; the hotel is close to the station. If you need a car to visit elsewhere on the island, go back to the airport for your rental car. It can take an hour to reach the highway from the hotel. You'd get to your car much faster at the airport than you will if it's in town. You cannot find a parking space before 8 at night, and you are likely to find yourself locked in by a double-parked car the next morning in any event. I have traveled extensively in the US and Europe. Palermo has the most brutal traffic I have ever experienced.

We loved this accommodation. The breakfast was great. Roberto was helpful. The rooms were terrific. The position was also good and all was as I had expected as I had booked it by the reviews. I'd definitely stay again. Thanks to the lovely host. I say eccellente fantastico e grazie mille. I was really impressed I got a photo from the terrace just like the one on the net. I enjoyed the relaxing breakfast on the terrace as well as the good food selection. I had no problem with te stairs as the lift was fine. I really think this a perfect spot to stay as it was also so near to the bus and train station where we got a connection to Catania easily with help from staff. Also they aranged a taxi for us from the airport and it was such a kind and friendly trip to the hotel doing some sightseeing on the way. My husband, 20 yr old daughter, sister and her husband also were very impressed and happy. Thanks for everything Hotel Ambasciatori.

We got in very late, but were impressed by the size and quietness of our particular room. Very nice remodel and the best bathroom facilities we had on our entire 3 week vacation throughout Sicily and mainland Italy. The breakfast on the rooftop overlooking Palermo was breathtaking and a great way to start the day. We started a tour the next day and stayed in a different hotel that was far less amenable than the Ambasciatori for a higher price. Reception is on the 6th floor. The only minus is the stairs or a tiny elevator as your choice for getting bags upstairs. Ask for help if you're not in good shape. A great little spot for a respite from the energy of the Palermo experience.

The street map at the hotel was much more detailed then the map provided onthe internet, would have saved time finding the hotel and more information about parking would have saved arrival confusion. Great Place, Lots of fun.

This hotel is in a great location for walking to shopping, many of Palermo's sights, and the central bus station. Don't let the upper floor location or the small "cage" elevator deter you. Our room was very clean, well decorated, and the staff is very friendly. The rooftop terrace for breakfast is worth the whole visit!

We decided to rent a car and drive from the airport to the hotel - I do not recommend this for the faint of heart, driving in Palermo was the single most scary experience of my life. Once we finally arrived at the hotel (in one piece only due to the grace of god) the hotel staff were extremely nice and helpful. The room was very nice, good size by Euro standards. The rooftop breakfast area was beautiful - decent breakfast selection too. For the price I think it would be hard to beat - if I went back to Palermo I would stay here again (although I would take a cab from the airport :-)

Ambasciatori is a very very nice place to stay. We had a chance to stay both in the hotel and the B&B part. Both rooms were excellent, just that the B&B was extremely noisy because of the cars on via Roma. Apart from that the hotel is excellent. The staff members were friendly and competent and the roof breakfast area was beautiful indeed. And so was the coffee and the chocolate croissants. I would recommend Ambasciatori to people who prefer hotels. To others I would suggest to find a nice apartment-style B&B (like the Dimora del Genio). There you have a chance to see what hides behind the silent facades of Palermo houses and palazzos. And what you see is often quite stunning.

It was a pleasure to stay there. quite naturally the room could not be as quiet as on the countryside. the breakfast was very good. the view from the terrace on the roof is absolutely great. We really liked it!

my only problem was that workmen were hammering and chiselling all through the afternoon of every one of the 4 days. They had music on and talked so loudly it was impossible to rest. However, earplugs solved this. The best most wonderful part of the accommodation is the breakfast terrace which is open all day with 360 degree views of the town.

One of the nicest and best run hotels we have ever stayed in. The reception staff were extremely helpful, welcoming and efficient. The hotel is ideally placed for the old psrt of town and only ten minutes from the station. It has an abolutely fantastic roof terrace where you have breakfast and where you can relax at any time - views over old Palermo in one direction and the sea in the other. We can recommend this hotel without reservation.

This is THE ideal hotel, being only 3-5 minute walk straight up the main street from the train and bus station and within 10 minutes of all the major tourist sites. We felt very safe in the area we were in. The rooms were pristine and the staff were fluent in English and most helpful. One could not have asked for a more ideal placed hotel and the rooftop for breakfast is a wonderful way to start the day - or end it. Perhpas one of THE best hotel we have ever stayed in and cannot recommend it enough! Thanks to where the hotel was, we had a superb holiday. Excellent hotel in a central location. Room was spotless, well appointed and quiet. Bathroom spotless. Roof top terrace beautiful with the view over Palermo. Since we stayed in March it was too cold to have the breakfast on the terrace but the view from the breakfast room still great. Excellent breakfast as well. Staff very friendly and fluent in English. Wonderful stay.

This hotel is an excellent bargain. It is located near the train station, as well as good restaurants and tourist sites. The rooms are somewhat small, but adequate; street noise on the fifth floor (sixth floor to Americans) was not a problem. The staff was very welcoming and helpful. An ample breakfast (fruit juices, breads, cornetti, jams, cereals, yogurt, etc.) is served in a delightful rooftop room with views over the city.

Molte Grazie!!! Buslinien
