Hotel Sant Joan - Palamós

An excellent, friendly hotel. Lots of thoughtful little extras and a superb breakfast. Very friendly, helpful owner, gave us a lift to Girona, and recommended excellent, good value restaurants. It is on a fairly busy road, but that is reflected in the fair prices and the double glazing and air-conditioning really work.

To find the hotel is easy, but the free parking is small and very often it is required to go looking for a car place along the road, especially if you return late at night. Breakfast is very good with a lot of choice. The beach in Palamos is not that good, but with a short drive you can go to the beach of Castell or to Calella de Palafrugell, very nice.

So nice and so clean!!! the staff is very friendly, they give us a lot of information about Palamos, and suggest us very good restaurants! breakfast is great...and the jacuzzi in the garden too! Immediate surroundings are not so nice, but they are quiet and safe. It is a 15 minutes walk to Plaja la fosca, a very nice beach, blue flag 2008.

This Hotel is a real find. Our stay was for 6 nights in August and we had a great stay, the lady owner was most welcoming and together with her staff help make our stay in Palamos most enjoyable. The room we had on the ground floor overlooked the garden and pool, it was quite large with plenty of cupboard space, a large TV with a selection of Channels - one of which was put on an English speaking channel for our stay. The En Suite was large, with Bath/Shower, WC, Bidet and Wash/hand Basin and had plenty of toiletries and a Hair Dryer. The Buffet Breakfast which was included in the price was first class, with both Hot and Cold Selections, fresh fruit, freshly baked bread/rolls, croissants etc etc. The timings for breakfast made it a Brunch, starting at 8.30AM until 12 Noon another excellent point. The towncentre was approx 5 minutes walk, the beach a few minutes further. The Hotel Car Parking which is free, was in front of the Hotel at street level (The Hotel itself is built on a hill and access via steps and then the garden to the Hotel) and is restricted to the number of cars it will take (approx 6 or 7). However there is a Garage at the back of the Hotel, at a small charge which will take approx 4 cars. The Hotel was very clean and quiet. I would recommend this Hotel to anyone who wants a quiet stay away from the Package Holiday type resort.

The friendliness and competence of the staff set the tone for the hotel. Serving a really good breakfast till 12 was typical of the way things were done for the enjoyment of the guests - not the convenience of the staff. Hotel and grounds are lovely. Immediate surroundings are not so good and it is a ten minute walk to the sea and main restaurant area. If you want a really good value hotel with friendly staff more than you want a beachside location this is an ideal hotel.

L'habitació àmplia, espaiosa i molt agradable, decoració rústica, parking petit, molt tranquil, l'esmorzar fantàstic i la parella propietària molt amable. Molt recomanable.

Excellent hotel, excellent welcoming disapointed by the surroundings It seems on the pictures that the place was right out in the country which was not the case in spite of a very nice garden. We had a nice stay and ate well very close from the hotel, ask for the directions.....

This was an excellent hotel, friendly, very clean the standard of the rooms was very good, the only down side was very poor car parking.

Hotel Sant Joan is a friendly, family-run business that provided us with excellent facilities and services. We later stayed in two four star hotels that were not as good.

We had some difficulty in finding this hotel as we did not have a location map. It appeared, from the information, to be in a more rural area but was in fact in a built up section of the city and not immediately visible from the road. Parking was also rather difficult as the car park is very small and backs directly onto the main road. Inside the hotel is pleasantly and comfortably furnished, the staff were friendly and helpful and the breakfast was splendid.

Nice hotel. Beautiful gardens and very frendly staff. Parkings a bit tight but found a spot at the back of the hotel. Rooms basic but clean. Good value for money.
