located Just across from the large Piazza fronting the central Padova Train Station, 4-star Hotel Grand’Italia was the best location for this early-June train traveler. Why take a taxi or pull your bags down to someplace else when you have all the comforts, amenities and conveniences just a few minutes from the train you’ll be taking at the end of your Padua stay? My large single room located on the piazza facing side, had space to use the desk and sit at the coffee table, and still easily could fit a double bed. The large 9x9 foot bathroom had a shower, heated (winter) towel rack, bidet, toilet, good mirror lighting and a makeup mirror, an often missing hotel feature. Besides A/C, stocked refrigerator (at reasonable prices), bedside controls, full-length mirror, free wi-fi, the safe was large enough to hold my 12-inch netbook. Room access was by placing an electronic key up to the keypad. With a McDonalds next door and trams along the Corso del Popolo, the room was very quiet during my stay. Housekeep kept the room spotless. My low “shoulder-season” rate included daily complimentary breakfast with meats, cheeses, fruits, an array of pastries, juices, yogurts and real coffees and cappuccinos made by the staff, not those machine ones. Since all of the main sites of Padua are within its historic center I purchased a Padova card before leaving the US and just walked outside the Hotel Grand’Italia’s front door and onto the trams and buses. I plan to return to Padua to see more of its sites and definitely will again choose Hotel Grand’Italia and its friendly staff.

All kind of clientele would appreciate a stay at this hotel. Further advantage: location (very close to railway and bus station). As for relationship price/quality, the price for breakfast is somewhat high even for this category (EUR 10). The rooms assigned to us were both smaller than the last one appearing on the Venere pictures. Nice bathrooms with more "generous" dimensions. Excellent wireless connection.

Great location, clean and spacious rooms. The female employees are friendly and helpful but the males are disinterested. The Grand'Italia doesn't live up to it's four stars is and is not good value for money.

Grand'Italia is a nice place to stay, in front of de Train Station. The room is nice and clean. The breakfest is good and offers some gluten free products. The neighbourhood like scary, but we dont have any problems, even in the night.

The hotel looks rundown, frankly, for a 4-star property. Our room safe was broken, there were problems with the toilet on our floor, mold in the bathroom tiles (although the bathroom itself had been very well cleaned), and a previous occupant had put pen marks all over the desk chair. On the plus side, the breakfast was good and it was right next to the train station, which is not the best neighborhood, but convenient.

This Hotel is well located near the station, and the city center is not far from it. There's a tram stop in front of it, so you can reach every part of Padua and other cities. The welcoming was good and the room was too big!!!

Great hotel especially if you plan on using the train...trains to Venice every 15 minutes across the road. Lovely rooms and great location 15 minutes to town centre which is lovely! The area is A bit run down and we felt a little intimidated by the number of young locals hanging around especially at night, however, we did not have any problems at all. Great value !!

The neighborhood is the railway station - no surprise there. The low rating for staff competence - I asked for help finding a pharmacy open on Sunday; not only did the man at the desk not know, the man in the office he asked directed me to a closed pharmacy. I eventually found one. The room was very well-modernized. One of the nicest bathrooms I have had in an Italian hotel!! Well-handled free WiFi.

This is a very good hotel located right across from the train stn. Excellent breakfast with a multitude of items from which to choose. A short walk to the main tourist attractions which are very closely linked. As for Padova itself -- it's a gorgeous city of historic bldgs, one of the best in Italy.

The hotel is located just crossing the square from the train sta.,,is just a ten min. walk to the center of the town. Athough i've read that people feel uneasy because there are many immigrant mostly men hanging around , they don't get on your way or annoy anybody. That is what I saw. Overall is a good value if your plans involve using the rail system to travel or visit other nearby cities: Verona,Venice,Parma, etc.

Located in front of the railway terminal, the surroundings attrack a lot of questionable people. A general problem in italian hotels is the choice of german television programs : Only private Junk channels like RTL, SAT1 etc. No public channels like ARD, ZDF, 3SAT or ARTE.

Very helpful and friendly staff. Hotel very conveniently located near train station even though the area is not very nice. Problem is that on a hot night our air condition did not work. Reception tried to set it, but it never worked and as a result we didn't sleep very well. The breakfast was execellent.

THE HOTEL IS IN AN EXELENT LOCATION AS IT IS VISABLE FROM THE TRAIN STATION, RIGHT ACROSS THE STREET. THEY HAD TROUBLE WITH THE INTERNET WHILE WE WERE THERE, IT WAS DOWN. WE WOULD STAY THERE THERE AGAIN. IT IS ONLY A SHORT, 30 MINUTE TRAIN RIDE TO VENICE. THIS CAUSES THE PRICE TO BE EXCEPTIONAL.

Although located acroos the street from the train station, the surrounding area is seedy, and the local people warned us not to walk nearby at night. The room was quiet but small and the carpets in the corridors were worn and appeared somewhat dirty.Staff were not very friendly. Breakfast room is the best part of the hotel.

We like the location near the train station. There was a 30 euro "internet commission" added to our bill which was unexpected. The breakfast offerings get more and more scarce as the morning goes on. By 9 am, lots of items are gone. Other hotels we stay at resupply items as they are eaten, up until the end of the breakfast hour. Liked the room, the help from the receptionist, and the location, and we will stay again when we return to Padua.

The Grand 'Italia was a gem. We were looking for hotel near Venice with a nice room and a reasonable price. The Grand 'Italia exceeded our expectations in every way. The rooms were very clean and spacious, reasonably priced, and with the train station across the street - a very convenient way to explore Venice and the surrounding area. We wished we had staying longer. We'll stay again and hopefully get a chance to explore Padua as well.

The hotel is very comfortable and perfectly connected through the bus with all the directions of the city. The center is not a lot distant and it can be caught up on foot. The cleaning of the rooms is very accurate and the comfort is excellent

The hotel is located at the worst place of Padova. It is very dangerous to go out. You do not feel secure. Despite the room and breakfast are OK I really do not recommend this hotel and I think it is very expensive for the local and service.

We booked a regular room but were upgraded to a suite which was wonderful. The inclusive breakfast was excellent. The hotel is by the train station which is not the best neighborhood, but this hotel is very convenient for train travellers and for walking to the Scrovegni Chapel. Valet parking was mandatory since there were was little available parking.

hotel was clean and comfortable. Our room was excellant, large and spacious the bathroom well equiped however our bathroom faced out on to the street from the 1st floor and there was only a see through net curtain and we felt at night that with the light on people may have been able to see in. The staff were not very friendly or welcoming. We felt they were more used to dealing with business travellers and not leisure travellers like us. The breakfast was fairly edible but the coffee was just reheated in a warmer and was not very hot or drinkable.

Two days in a row we requested wake up calls and none were received such that we overslept which created a big problem for us (since there was also no clock in the room. We also asked the male evening receptionist for a recoomendation to a restaurant. It is clear the hotel gets some kind of $ kickback since they send everybody there and the restaurant was awful. We resented being taken advantage of that way as did most of the other hotel guests who were also sent to this restaurant since we all talked about it at breakfast the next day. I had asked about two other restaurants and this receptionist who was rather snotty steered us away from those and to the place he must have an arrangement with. The rooms were also very very noisy. I would not recommend this hotel.

I had somme difficulty to join the property, though it looked very simple on the "access plan" provided on the hotel web site. However, I enjoyed my stay, I appreciated both the style and comfort of my room, as well as the breakfast served in a pleasant room.

We stayed for two nights and thought we should have offered a double room with a bathtub, if any. The room was clean and efficient but is was impossible to use an air conditioner on the day we felt very cold. We asked at the front desk, saying it's not winter so you can't put on it in all rooms. The guests would be coming from all over the world, from hot or cold countries. It was much better we put on the air conditioner freely. November may not be winter indeed.
