"La Riva" hotel faces the wide promenade of Ostia Lido di Roma, just opposite the sea in a position wich is really enchanting for the colours of its park. Its position allows you to breath an excellent air because in the neighbourhood there's the centuries-old pinewood of Castel Fusano, where you can visit ancient finds like, for example, Plinio's Villa.
Location of Hotel La Riva, Ostia Lido
-
City Area:Fiumicino Rome Airport
If you are interested in Roman culture, you can also visit the ancient Roman port of Ostia Antica which is one of the best archaeological zones in a good state in Europe. In Lazio there are many other archaeological zones.
For those who want to visit Rome, it is very useful to leave their car in the hotel parking and take the underground from Stella Polare Station (5 minutes by feet). By underground you can reach the center of Rome in 40 minutes and in 20 minutes the EUR locality, where are organized fairs and there is the Palazzo dei Congressi (Conferences Hall) and the Luneur, a fun-fair for adults and kids.
Crossing the road, you can get to the beach or to establishments with any comfort (also the swimming-pool).The biggest swimming-pool of the coast is only 200 meters far from our hotel. It can be a relaxing stop before leaving by plane, because it takes only 10 minutes from there to get to "Leonardo da Vinci" Airport in Fiumicino.

Very pleasant hotel with redecorated rooms. Excellent service at reception. Only issue was noise from main road through the weekend nights as young Romans showed off. Good value €25 taxi to airport which took 25 minutes. Easy to get to Rome by train, use station AFTER Lido Ostia

Rooms in the Riva Hotel are too small and the price is too high for the services you got.

We were there only one night prior to returning home. The 2 women concierges we dealt with were great. Very helpful, informative, good natured. I was having trouble confirming my flight and she made several phone calls and did it for me. High speed internet connection for one euro for either half hour or hour. (Not sure, my daughter used it, not me.)The room was incredibly small, but the bathroom was great. An excellent restaurant, Ristorante Falco d'Oro, was nearby as well as a Bancomat and stores. The breakfast was very good and the concierge arranged for it to be put on half-hour early since we had an early flight to catch. The Night Porter was a little grumpy, but maybe because that's because he'd been up all night. I would definitely stay there again.

The Hotel is close two stars and not three, price payd reflect a medium quality room and services.

Our group had three double rooms, all of which were impossibly small. There was no place to put luggage except in the minimal floor space, and in one room the bed was so close to the wardrobe that getting into the bed required careful manoeuvering. Two rooms had very nice balconies, which meant that the feeling of the room wasn't quite so claustrophobic, but the third wasn't really suitable for two people. The bathroom in that room, though, was spacious and all the bathrooms were immaculate and well-equipped. The breakfast was generous and tasty, and the opportunity to have it outside was welcome. The grounds are attractive and inviting.

It was nice having a gated area for parking. Only there overnight, but everything was clean and personnel were friendly. It would be good to have clearer directions finding the hotel (we got there after dark and thanks to the friendly people were able to find it).

We stayed here the night before leaving Rome airport thinking it was close-by. It was only 15 minutes at 5:00am in the morning, but took much longer later in the day. The hotel itself was comfortable, the staff were terrific and the garden where our party spent the better part of the evening was intimate and enjoyable. Some of the women in our party had a lot of luggage which was a hassle given there wasn't a lift. The rooms were comfortable if not luxurious but the traffic noise was unpleasant in my room at the back of the hotel since the window had to be left open due to the warm night. The staff were very nice and accommodating, lending us wine glasses, plates and utensils for our "picnic" dinner in the garden. (It was off season in the seaside town and no restaurants were open). The night manager even made me cappucino while I waited for my taxi at 4:45 am. The location--at least off-season--wasn't appealing as the beach across the street was marginal and the town unpleasant. For our purposes, however, it beat the airport hotels in price and quaintness. Internet service was available at 1 euro a half hour...a nice service we didn't see in similarly priced hotels elsewhere in Italy.

The most noisy Hotel I have been in ages. Only recommendable to your worst enemy. Air conditioning sounded like a locomotive and we had to switch it off, and walls seemed to be made of paper, according to what you could hear from neighboring rooms. No lift. Crazy price for what it is.

The triple room we had was spacious, clean and comfortable. Breakfast was good and parking was a big advantage. Staff were very friendly, helpful and spoke good English. Only two minutes walk from the well run public beach (La Spagietta)

I found the staff vey helpful, travel into Rome was very cheap though the Taxi from the airport to the hotel was expensive. I booked my return taxi through the hotel and was pleasently surprised as the return fare was just over half the price. The hotel was clean and the staff all spoke very good english.

The staff of La Riva made a real effort to speak English and were extremely helpful to us on our last day in Italy, spending about five minutes on the phone with a courier service trying to make them understand that we had prepaid for them to deliver our cell phone back to the agency from which we had rented it. The only complaint we had is that, like most Italian hotel rooms, the one we had at LaRiva was smaller than similarly priced rooms in the US. Also, the sliding door of our closet had come off its track and was leaning against the wall. But the room was clean and had a view of the sea, parking was free in the hotel's gated lot, and there was a good restaurant almost next door.

Room abit of a squeeze for 3 adults, single bed was a child's. Room in need of decoration, wallpaper ripped and damp in corners. Linen very clean, room cleaned every day which was excellent. Area very quiet, not much around hotel in the evenings. Staff very friendly, nice breakfast. Brilliant location for travel into Rome, transport very dirty but cheap. 2 euros into Rome, then Big Ticket 4 euros for use of buses and metro for 24hrs. Reccommend open top bus for getting around sites in Rome, we paid 13 euros (hop on, hop off).

Very nice hotel. It is located near the free public beach (across the road) and at the same time close to the railway station. I was surprised to see many things that are not typical for this hotel category: air conditioning (a must for Rome) and good breakfast (more then that typical "croissant + coffee" combo). The rooms are clean and full featured.

The hotel was right across from the beach but was located a little far from restaurants. The staff was freindly and helpful. The ability to park a car for free in the private hotel lot was a very important feature in the crowded summer months.

Positives: decent location, free beach access across the boulevard, fairly quiet location, great continental breakfast served in front patio garden, easy access south from Fiumicino, within 5 mi of Ostia Antica ruins, a host of restaurants along the beach boulevard, nearby ATM, English speaking friendly staff, clean bathrooms and bed linens. TV, refrigerator. Not many foreign tourists there at time of travel; looks to cater more to locals as a beach destination. Location on the south end of the beach boulevard limits the traffic noise that may plague other nearby hotels to the north. Negatives: quad room and stairwells a bit dingy, no elevator, but an economical choice for a one-night Rome stopover prior to a next day flight or cruise departure, particularly for families.

A hotel that require a complete refurbishment--rooms looking drab and need of a lick of paint and retiling. Good position near to the airport and seafront but does need an up date in terms of room facilities.

The hotel is a little on the rundown side compared to other properties I have booked through Venere. Overall, it adequate. The one thing I did not appreciate at all happened at the very end. We asked the hotel to arrange a taxi to take us to the airport very early in the morning. They did not call a taxi (one with a meter). Instead they called an unmetered car and we were charged 35 Euro for a trip that probably should not have cost more than 15-20. I strongly suspect the hotel had a profit-making arrangement with the driver.

Ostia is a litter-strewn rundown seaside town but good value and an easy and cheap commute to Rome. It is also close to Ostia Antica which is a must for anyone with an interest in Roman history. The Hotel was very good value and the day staff very helpful. Free and secure parking was a bonus.

As a three star hotel, La Riva did not meet my expectations. The bedding and wallpaper looked dirty and old and the overall look of the hotel was run down. The bathroom did appear new though. We picked La Riva because we had an early flight out the next day,I would not stay there again.

This is a sweet little hotel, very clean and close to the train station to travel to Rome. The beach is across the street, and there is a small courtyard in the front yard where you can have your breakfast or drink a cup of coffee. It is a great value.

The hotel was run-down, one of the staircases was boarded off, the carpet was badly stained. Really run-down characterizes it well. Ostia Romana is not a nice place to stay. Ostia Antica, which is also close to the airport, would have been much better.

We have stayed at this hotel many times before, but it is now shabby and dingy. It needs to be cleaned up and modernized. It no longer offers a good value for those looking for a hotel to spend the night near Fiumicino Airport. In the future, we will seek another hotel.

Location was in a somewhat quieter section of the beach area, but late night noise from traffic and sidewalk - this was a ground floor room. Bathroom was in need of repair. Staff was helpful and friendly. I consider this an OK option for the night before an early flight out of Fiumicino.

For a three star hotel charging almost €100 per night, the room was cramped, there was no elevator and payment was demanded up front. Not really the kind of treatment one has come to expect with other Venere hotels.

the smell in the lounge area was really bad. the walls and carpets were in a bad shape. The bathroom was nice enough. The breakfast was okay. We didn't like it that the cleaner left the door open on one day after cleaning. the room should have had a safety deposit box. The cleaner should not have touched our belongings, she for instance organized my make-up products and such in the bathrom and i didn't like it. always when we returned to our room after cleaning the room had a bad smell, a bit like the cleaner may have smoked there. all and all, i think the hotel was pretty lousy compared to the price but it was the only one that had space and was available online so we had to take. we had no high expectations so we weren't really disappointed, either.

This hotel was pretty much what I expected for the price (98 E/room) and location. The rooms were very small, reasonably clean and staff was pleasant and moderately helpful. The hotel was adequate for our purposes -- we needed one night at a hotel convenient to the airport after a week in the Italian countryside. By American standards it would be very cramped for a long stay.

Very nice hotel, across a wide and busy main street from the beach but not much view. The beach itself is mostly owned by private clubs, but there is a small public beach just across the street. Just make sure you know how to get there--our cab driver dropped us off at the wrong hotel in the wrong town! Very easy access to the Rome airport, which is why we stayed there. Staff was very helpful.

Hi, the only probleme we have had is that the deskman forgot to give our pasport back. So we went to the airport and then we realized the mistake. We had to go back to the hotel and hurry again to the airport and we lose our flight... (100 Euro for the taxi = the hotel did not call a normal taxi but a special pick-up airpourt without advising). The room was very clean, the garden is very nice and the hotel owner sang Verdi for our breakfast... Best regards, Mrs. Tilia ZBORIL

Staff excellent; hotel clean albeit generally shabby (photos appear to have been taken at time of previous refurbishment!; bathroom, towels and bed sheets all spotless; garden around the hotel is a wonderful oasis of shade during the day and marvellous if you have young children; just cross the road for the beach or a 10min walk to the Metro station and 2 stops for Ostia town centre or cheap and easy access to Rome; Highly recommended
