This was my second stay at Hotel Valentino. Again it was wonderfully quiet right off the main streets. Room was spacious and clean, but could use a new coat of paint. Otherwise a perfect place to stay.

If you're just looking for a place close to the center, this is a great stay. If you care about cleanliness...this is not the place for you! The room smelled so bad, we actually went down to the local store and bought air fresheners! The floor hadn't been cleaned in so long that it turned our feet BLACK and we couldn't let our 1 year old run around until we cleaned the floor ourselves. Nice employees and satisfying breakfast. Close to sites.

We really enjoyed our stay in Orvieto. The hotel was a good value with plenty of space, decent beds, and good location. It would have been nice to know when we checked out that the funicular didn't run in the morning in time to catch our train, but perhaps the language barrier between us and the hotel clerk led to the confusion. We just didn't ask the right question.

THis time I was here by myself but have also been here with husband and two teenagers. Both times I have enjoyed staying here and in fact came to Orvieto because I knew I could count on the good hotel. It is simple, clean, relatively quiet, has a good breakfast, and is on a quiet side-street but a short walk to everything. The staff are competent and capable so I really have no complaints. And there is a refrigerator in the rooms which is always handy. And it is a good value for the money.

I booked Hotel Valentino for its good location, just off one of the main shopping streets and close to the main attractions (approx 5-7 minutes walk from the Duomo)The rooms themselves are clean but functional and very plain - the photos on the web site are a good reflection of what to expect. The hotel suited our needs as we were touring in the area and wanted a centrally located hotel, with garage, to use as a base for one night whilst we explored Orvieto. If these are your needs, I can recommend the hotel. However, if you are looking for a more traditional "Tuscan experience" then the Valentino is not for you.

great location! walking distance to everything we could have wished to see in Orvieto...great town, excellent restaurants and abundance of interesting shops. We have arranged parking, so that wasn't a problem. breakfast was a little skimpy, but adequate.

This was a lovely hotel, within a fairly easy walk of the "funicular." The hotel owners are wonderful and helpful. The room was clean, had a private bathroom, had an air conditioner, and the hotel has a lift. Breakfast wasn't as elaborate as in other hotels I stayed at, but they made fresh cappuccino and espresso.

The hotel had everything that we were looking for: a quiet room to sleep in. The size of the room was what we expected to find in an old European town for this price range. The directions to the hotel were excellent, given the street layout in Orvieto.

The only reason that I gave the quietness of the rooms a 5 rating is because I had a baby next door the first night of my stay that cried ALOT!!! all hours - but that wasn't your fault. I loved my stay at the Hotel Valentino and have recommended it to other people who have and will be staying with you- THANK YOU VERY MUCH!!!!

Hotel Valentino was quite nice and very clean. A shuttle bus runs from the top of the funicular to near the hotel so it is very accessible, although the walk would only be about 10 minutes. Great location near shopping, post ofc., restaurants. Orvieto is a delightful town with a lovely cathedral and the Etruscan tour should not be missed.

We really liked the location as it was very near the central part of Orvieto, yet far enough to give us some peace and quiet. The hotel staff were very helpful and professional, and above all, welcoming and friendly.

It was a bit hard to get to the hotel since access to Orvieto centre seemed to be forbidden to cars. Besides our GPS didn't help too much. So we decided to park in Piazza Cahen (where the Funicolare station is). Then we walked up the Via Roma until reaching the Piazza Angelo da Orvieto, very close to the hotel. We realised we could have done it by car but we were a bit sick of the car/GPS,... My advice is to get to The Piazza Angelo da Orvieto, leave the baggage at the hotel and if there is no place to park over this Piazza, go back with the car to Piazza Cahen (no problems to park). The hotel rooms are much better than they look at this website. A new room and nice for the price. We had to leave the hotel before the breakfast time (at 7:00 AM) so our breakfast was prepared by the man who takes care of the reception by night. This "uomo" was very kind. He told us his amazing life what we really appreciated. In fact this experience improved a lot the breakfast and the reception service when we arrived. Orvieto is very nice, specially the Cathedral. It is also worthy to see the subterranean city which you can access from the cathedral square. A place to have a nice dinner: Trattoria Al Pozzo Etrusco d'Aronne (Piazza Ranieri).

If you stay in Orvieto, you must take the time to sit in the main square and marvel at the magnificent cathedral. It is also extremely easy to catch the train into Rome, even for an English woman with very little Italian!

Easy to get to from the train. Close to the centre of town but in a quiet location. Lots of noise in the hotel hallways while were were there though. While in Orvieto, be sure to waste an afternoon over a bottle of Orvieto Classico on a patio. Also check out the caves below the city and go for a walk around the wall. We had a wonderful time in this town.

room was nicer than appeared in photos. Clean, quiet, plain and spacious room (double) with a nice view. Breakfast was very minimal (croissants and sliced american cheese food!). Good coffee, though. Terrific town and location was great. A 10 minute walk from Finiculare and very central on quiet street.

Hotel Valentino was alright. The marble staircase is the best decor in the hotel. I was a single traveller so I got the odd shaped rooms at all the hotels I was in including this one. The room was drab with white stucco and a worn quilt. Bathroom was decent sized (water on the floor from shower. TV didn't work. Room smelled of smoke as the hotel allows smoking in the rooms. Didn't like the fact that the chamber maid starts cleaning the rooms at 8am. Could hear vacuuming and rattling around. Morning breakfast was decent with a croissant and yogurt and great coffee. Safety Concern with the key rack as it is placed at the door and anyone can grab your room key. Someone is usually at the desk but would be safer if keys were kept behind the desk. The owners are well intentioned and really friendly - had my cappucino in hand before I asked for it my second day there, but the hotel needs some work before it is great

When we booked the hotel we had no idea what to expect, so it is hard to say we were disappointed, but we were not very pleased with the hotel. Especially the staff didn't seem very professional, both while attending to us on arrival, as on the next day at breakfast (very poor) and on departure.

Valentino is a fairly basic hotel in the centre of town but slightly off the main thoroughfare so it's pretty quiet. Rooms were clean and tidy and the staff very friendly and helpful. Orvieto itself is a beautiful place - we stopped there for just one night and a bit of a break between visiting Rome and Florence and for that it was absolutely perfect.

We were very pleased to find ourselves at Hotel Valentino after a long drive in the car from Bologna. The room was spacious, clean, and very comfortable. The location was perfect, very near to all the lovely sites of Orvieto. We were tired and hungry and although it was late, we were able to have a delicious meal at the restaurant just below the hotel, along the side of the small parking lot and park. We stayed in a standard double room and it was very nice, especially because it was a large space with full bathroom. All of Orvieto is worth seeing and very easy to walk, it is so beautiful with gorgeous architecture and so much history. The Duomo is one of the most beautiful in Italy. Also, many great little shops and lots of hand-made local ceramics to tempt you! Some of the restaurants in the center are a bit pricey, so be sure to read the menus first. We found a great pizzeria on Corso Cavour on the right side just before the Piazza della Republica. One thing we regret we missed was the Orvieto Underground. It is the old Etruscan city under the current structure which can only be viewed with a guide, whom you have to contract with through the Tourist Bureau. To not miss it, ask at your hotel where this office is so you can get a ticket in time for the viewing hours. Although there were plenty of tourists in mid-July, we did not find overwhelming crowds at any point. It was easy and pleasant to get around. We plan to go back to Orvieto and we will definitely return to Hotel Valentino. It was a wonderful accommodation at a fair price. The continental breakfast is modest, but the cappuchino is marvelous.

This was our second stay at Hotel Valentino. The first time a taxi dropped us at the front door. This time we were driving ourselves and had a hard time finding the front door due to all the one way streets and our unfamiliarity with Orvieto. We enjoyed it one we got there!!!

Nice location, close to public pay parking and two block away from the free parking. The front desk wasn't always staffed, leaving us to get our own keys if we wanted! There was some noise from the street as the hotel is close to a parking area. The room was a decent price for the location near the main street of Orvieto.

Our room was plainly decorated, but it was spacious and very clean. We had a large, pretty, modern bathroom; I'm guessing it is one of the best in Orvieto. The location was great, off the main street, but close enough to be easily accessible to all the action. The staff was VERY nice. BTW, don't miss the little take-out pizza spot at the corner. It sells only by the slice pizza-type items, but they are cheap, filling, and very delicious.

This was our favorite stay in Italy, I think a lot of that was because Orvieto was so damn cool. It was November when we were there, the rooms were warm, the guy at the desk was really kind in acknowledging my poor attempts at Italian. The breakfast was good and the location is unbeatable. Would stay there again in a heartbeat.

Stayed in this hotel for 2 nights before heading on to Rome. It's a small, rather informal hotel. The breakfast area and lobby area are open plan which is quite unusual. The rooms were very clean and adequate. The streets of Orvieto are very narrow so one morning when the window was open any passing traffic sounded really really loud! Closing the window sorted out that issue however! Breakfast is good - plenty croissants, rolls, orange juice etc, . Boyfriend would have liked some cereal, but he's just fussy about his breakfast! I was disappointed there was no hairdryer in the room as I couldn't fit one in my luggage. I couldn't remember from the time of booking whether the room was supposed to have one - it wasn't - but it would still be useful. I have very thick long hair that takes forever to dry even with one of the standard hotel dryers, but anything is better than drying your hair naturally when you're in a rush! All in all, we had a nice stay in this little hotel in the charming town of Orvieto.

The room itself, including bathroom, was very smart, clean, tidy and quite modern. The hosts were pleasant enough, but didn't go out of their way. However, out of our only window we looked directly at the window of a hotel across the tiny street, and the noise in the evening and, almost all night long, was horrendous from the traffic on the street/below (the hotel is at an intersection of two streets, one of them a busy thoroughfare). Also, being there in mid-July it was extremely hot, and our air-conditioning couldn't be temp. controlled by us (i.e. we couldn't make it cool enough), and then it turned off automatically at 10.30pm! We absolutely sweltered all night, and to open our window meant increasing the noise volume. As it was, I had ear plugs in all night, and could still hear the noise. I'd like to make the point that we're not inclined to be fussy, and realise that we did have a very good rate through Venere.com on this hotel, particularly given the time of year. Breakfast was 'sparse' but fresh next morning, very basic compared to some places we stayed in France and Italy. I would like to point out that it would, we thought, be difficult to escape the noise element if staying anywhere in Orvieto, due to the nature of it's layout and the fact that the traffic is seemingly allowed all through the town by the local residents. If you were going at a cooler time of year, and you could specifically request a 'quiet' room away from the traffic noise, then this would make your stay in this hotel significantly more pleasant. It was very clean, quite modern and fresh, elevator, good bed. This hotel is close to nice variety of restaurants and shops etc.

This hotel was OK. Reasonably clean. The biggest downside was that the shower was very small. I'm 5'6" and 143lbs, and I barely had enough room to reach down to wash my legs. If you're arriving by train, you'll need to take the funiculare up the side of the hill/mountain to get to Orvieto. Its a short ride, and kind of neat.

Bear left over the big square and go up the main street until you see the Via San Angelo de Orvieto on your right.
