At first I was concerned because the initial greeting was not overly welcoming and we were at our last stop for our holiday. That lasted about five minutes and the staff became our best friends. This stay was almost a year ago now and if I were ever to return to Orvieto, I would certainly choose Hotel Duoma again. Top location with a clean fresh room every day.

I have stayed in this family owned hotel several times since I adore Orvieto. They are just great at providing all the help I need. Now, I live in Italy, speak Italian and know the town very well so I have no idea how they would handle other people but I really like this hotel.

We had an excellent stay at the Hotel Duomo. The location is perfect, just steps from the Duomo; the rooms are large, comfortable and immaculate; the staff is very courteous and helpful. We would be happy to stay here again and to recommend this hotel to friends.

Ideal location, in the heart of Orvieto just a flight of steps away from the cathedral. In the evening the sound of a jazz ensemble in a corner of the piazza wafted to the doors of the hotel. The hotel has its own car parking area, which staff take and fetch your car to and from, costing a very reasonable 10E per day. A special bonus in these medieval streets! The modern paintings based on the Signorelli frescoes make a bold and colourful statement.

The Duomo hotel is in a quite small road just a few steps away from the cathedral. The hotel is run by a family, who are flexible and willing to help. Orvieto is a nice city in Umbria, in my opinion only second to Gubio; people are relaxed, and restaurants offer good quality food and wine for an acceptable price.

This hotel has location, location, location. What could be more spectacular that viewing the the Cathedral within yard of the hotel? We arrived late, but our car was taken care of and we were escorted to a neighboring restaurant where we were served a wonderful meal. The service at this hotel is outstanding.

Wow, great hotel. Location could not be better. You can sit in the garden and gaze at the Duomo. The staff is very accommodating. Not many speak English but they are very helpful and it was easy to communicate. Breakfast was good. The bar was convenient and affordable. The bathroom was the best I have ever had in Italy - great shower. The bedroom was huge and the bed comfortable. I loved Orvieto. Quiet, good places to eat, just a nice city to walk around in.

The hotel may be a bit difficult to find, but they provide parking for your car and the hotel is located just off the main square and near several good restaurants. It is a nice respite from the hustle and bustle of Rome.

We had a lovely stay at the Duomo Hotel. Orvieta is a beautiful hill-top village well worth a visit, and the Hotel has an ideal location next to the cathedral. The hotel is family-owned and operated, and provides a friendliness that one would expect from a family. Directions were posted at strategic points once we got to the town, and we had no trouble in finding the hotel. We stopped the car in a narrow street in front of the hotel to unload our luggage, and the hotel owner then parked it for us for an daily fee of 10 euros. My only regret is that we were unable to stay for more than one day.

The hotel is lovely, the only problem is that you must ask for wi-fi before 20:00. They didn't tell us this in advance, they told only the price (5€ per day).

Nice and Clean, but was stuck in room by road, very noisy. Bed was hard as rock and pillows were the same. They could use new towels as when I dried off I was cover in lint from the towels, not nice at all.

The old night desk clerk at the hotel was also the bar tender for late night drinks...he was warm and funny. The town was worth the visit...large enough to be varied and interesting but still compact and walkable. All of the restaurants added a cover from 2 to 3 Euro and a couple added a 10% service charge on top of the cover. Avoid these rip off places by asking before you sit down.

We enjoyed our 1 night at the Hotel Duomo in Orvieto. Had a triple room, & 3rd bed was a not very comfortable roll-away which was OK for 1 night but was the worst bed we came across in our trip. Other than that, the hotel was comfortable and clean with good facilities. It's tucked behind the main square, 5 minute walk from where the bus stops.

Excellent hotel. The only slight downside is that our room was on the side of the Duomo (Cathedral) and the bell ringing kept light sleepers awake in the night. Our friends who were on the other side of the hotel did not notice it. We had our windows closed.

The hotel is perfectly located next to the duomo and town square. The manager recommended a restaurant not far from the hotel which was excellent value.(Trattoria del Moro- Aronne)We have stayed at this hotel previously and have not been disappointed. We had an extremely large room on the 3rd floor with a bath and a sitting area. The breakfast was quite good with a selection of yoghurts, fruit and cereal.

The room was very spacious and clean. We were travelling with a group and stayed in a triple. The third bed in the room was a cot, which was a little disappointing since there was more than enough room for another full or twin bed. The staff did not speak much English which was challenging at times.

It's a 3-star hotel at a 4-star room rate - room very poor, no carpets/rugs, no sitting area, a chair more suitable for a child than a grownup - description did not correspond with what we got. Breakfast poor considering the price (€10 p.p.). The other rooms on the floor had either balcony or french windows/doors. Why give us the least equipped room, when the hotel was not fully booked anyway ...

Excellent location, (perhaps 200 feet) to the side of the beautiful Duomo and its Piazza. Followed the signs directly to the hotel, unloaded luggage and the friendly receptionist parked our car nearby until our departure two days later. Our double room was clean and quiet, buffet breakfast was good, and the friendly staff offered excellent advice as to restaurants nearby, our favorite being Sette Consoli. Would have remained an extra day but the hotel was full. The staff helped to secure lodging for us in Bagnoregio.

Large lovely room, with a view of the Duomo from one of the windows. Nice clean bathroom. My wife and I stopped through Orvieto on our honeymoon. This was our first visit to Orvieto, and in fact, to Italy. We arrived in Orvietto after dark and found the plaza and the sign for Hotel Duomo. But the exact way to navigate to the hotel was challenging: follow around the back of the plaza and into the residents only area and through the very narrow streets. Fortunately, one of our party got out of the car and walked down the steps. Within two minutes the owner appeared at the car, took the wheel and brought us home. We had lots of help with registration and bags and warm feelings all around. All of which were amplified the next morning when our traveling friend discovered her passport missing. Again the owner steadied us, helped in the search, and by 0930, the police appeared with her passpot in hand! The system worked: someone found it on the plaza, turned it in to a shop owner and thence to the police. We liked Orvieto and the Hotel Duomo very much.

Hotel was very clean, roomy and nice. It was the perfect location - right in the center of the action so you could just park at the hotel and walk everywhere. Great location if it is your first trip to Orvieto. We were only there for 1 night, but I would have stayed longer if we could.
