Hotel Marguerite - Orléans

Cute, small rooms. GREAT location, right downtown. Close to shopping, beach, train, and restaurants. WONDERFUL staff!

On arrival we found that there is nowhere to stop the car and unload, nor any hotel parking. I waited in the car while my wife went to the reception on the first floor and was directed to a nearby parking garage (E5.30 per day). We had to haul our luggage back from the park garage to the hotel, which was made worse by the park garage having no lift / elevator. Not a great start. Although the whole hotel is supposedly non smoking, and the label on the room door clearly said that, we found our room stank of cigarette smoke and we had to ask for another room, which they made no fuss about providing. The rooms were spotlessly clean, but rather shabby. The carpet and bedspreads are relatively new, but the furniture and the decoration were old and battered, and the bathroom was clean but very shabby. There are no curtains, other than net curtains, and you need to shut the external shutters to keep out the light and the sound of the traffic outside. Although we arrived on 30 September, our room was boiling hot from the sun, and we had to throw the windows open and suffer the traffic noise to cool it down. Since there is no air conditioning, I would expect it to be unbearable in the summer. The TV was small, old and mounted near the ceiling so pretty unviewable. We had booked a double rather than a twin room, and the double bed was only a European double (i.e. 4’6”) and not the minimum king (5’) that one would expect now, although there was a second single bed also in the room. It failed to make up for lack of size by being comfortable, and we spent a fairly poor and airless night in it because we could not sleep with the traffic noise, and ended up having to close the windows. The hotel is quite easy to find and very close to the old centre, about 2 minutes from Joan of Arc house, and 10 minutes from the Cathedral. Because we had an early start to visit the Chateau of Cambord (20 miles away), we risked the hotel breakfast which at E7 per person was dismal. It was

The Marguerite is a good choice for visiting Orleans,because it is very conveniently placed. It was comfortable, quiet, reasonably priced and we would certainly recommend it wholeheartedly.We were merely stopping overnight on our journey south but would have been happy to stay two nights in this beautiful city.

The location of the hotel is good for exploring the city, and within walking distance from the train station. Unfortunately, with a pizza delivery and a bar right outside, there was a lot of noise especially on Sunday night. The staff was friendly and helpful and the breakfast was good.

Is a very good hotel in Orleans. The rooms and the services and de location are very goods.

La ubicación del hotel es buena teniendo en cuenta su cercanía al área histórica. El personal del hotel es amable y dispuesto a solucionar cualquier inquietud. En términos generales es una buena opción para una estadía corta. Valdría la pena tener más información de la ubicación del mismo y su acceso a través del tranvía. Lo recomiendo.

We just stayed 1 night on our way south, but it was a very pleasant experience. The hotel was in a good location, the room was spotless (just been redecorated) and the staff were friendly.

We stayed in orleans for a week in July in order to look for an apartment to rent for a future move to the city. A week is a long time to spend in any hotel, but we certainly didn't feel jaded by the end of it. Hotel Marguerite is cosy, comfortable and clean. We had a newly refurbished room, which was small but very pleasant. The owner of the hotel, Mr Ferreira is on hand during the day to offer help and a smile. All the staff were kind and welcoming. We could also get free WIFI in the room which is great if you bring your laptop or are on business. Breakfast is typically French - croissants and hot drinks. The hot chocolate is very good. The hotel is centrally located, a walk from all the amenities, the cathedral, bars and restaurants. I would definitely recommend this place to anyone coming to Orleans either on business or pleasure. You can't do better and the price is excellent for what you get.
