The city of Orlèans 81 miles southwest of France is home to the Brit Hotel Antarès. The comfortable and convenient Orlèans Hotel in the Loire Valley boasts a convenient location only 15 minutes away from the local train station.

Housed in a modern building, the hotel features comfortable guest rooms, a 24-hour reception, elevator, large closed parking area, and bar. Visit the air-conditioned on-site restaurant, serving regional French specialties and with free wireless Internet access. The restaurant has a children's menu and is closed on weekends. The hotel also offers event catering and courtesy newspapers.Orlèans Cathedral!

The Gothic cathedral stands magnificently in the city of Orlèans. The seat of the Bishop of Orlèans was built from 1278 to 1329 and rebuilt from 1601 to 1829 after its partial destruction in the 16th century.

Most famously associated with Joan of Arc, who attended mass there just before she partook in the lift of the siege of Orlèans, the cathedral’s stained glass windows now depict the story of her life and later martyrdom. The Gothic cathedral is extremely imposing, very large and with impressive stone and wood carvings, medieval paintings, and stained glass windows, everything you would expect from a French medieval cathedral.

The city of Orlèans celebrates Joan of Arc during the first week of May every year with parades, demonstrations and a medieval market and sound and light shows. The festival offers a fascinating insight into local traditions for visitors to the city.

The original Orlèans!

The city of Orlèans is the capital of the Centre-Val de Loire - or the Loire Valley to English speakers. The region is known for its fine vineyards, agricultural production, and for its many beautiful chateaux and quaint historical towns.

It is also the commune which gives its name to the US city of New Orlèans. While visiting Orlèans take a walk around the town center or along the banks of the river Loire, which run through this lovely city. Although the city is centrally located it was virtually undamaged during the Second World War, with much of the historical center remaining intact.

A stroll through the center will allow you to see for yourself the history and beauty of this French city. One of most splendid and beautiful places to see is the Hotel Groslot in the Place de l’Etape. This 19th-century red bricked building still retains its fine interiors from the period. If this is your idea of heaven there are plenty more renaissance townhouses to see, such as the Hotel Cabu which houses the Orlèans city museum, the original town hall and the Masion Jean Dailbert.

Orlèans also features several open air squares, such as Place du Chatelet, again lined with magnificent townhouses, some dating back to the 16th century, and the historic Place du Martroi which contains a 19th-century statue of Joan of Arc.

9.3 Wonderful!

Very good value hotel. Staff were very helpful. Beds were comfortable with nice linen. As with many budget continental hotels, Brits need to take a kettle, milk, mugs and tea bags for the morning brew! Avoid using local taxis if possible. 20 Euro's to go less than 2km, and I had to show the driver where to go!

My stay was spoiled by trying to findthe hotel the impression created by your publicity that the hotel was in the City centre where I had stayed on previous occasions. No directions were shown and the 15 mins from rail depot was aJOKE. A good Hotel spoilt by a misleading publicity you must change it

The reason for chosing a chain over a Logis on a Sunday was so that there was somewhere open to eat. WRONG! If there is a coach party, they shut the restaurant to other guests. It meant a 3km walk to the local Court Paille or local Novotel (which may operate the same policy as I found out that Mecure do this as well at weekends). Otherwise the hotel staff and accomodation was excellent.
