Hotel Kvarner - Opatija

I stayed 4 days for celebrating my boyfriend's birthday in may. I stayed in a very spacious and clean room directly in front of the sea. It was wonderful and very quiet. Great view from the two terraces we had.Not all rooms have the sea view but they are all pretty spacious and quiet. The hotel is separated from the sea only through a pedestrians walk. The hotel is situated in one of the best locations of Opatija.Silence and sea but with 100 human steps you have everything (shops, banks, restaurants, etc.... It's aspect in its front and in the furniture is all in line with its ancient age but it's really romantic. Wonderful; I surely recommend it.

Very-very elegant, romantic and pleasant place. Very kind and polite staff. The Hotel is a first class place and closer to the famous places and the seaside. The breakfast is very fine and varied. Absolutely suggested!!!

Hotel and location were great but staff a little distant

This is a typical, old-fashioned hotel built in 1884, on the waterfront. Location is excellent, public areas are spacious, rooms are neatly furnished and adequately clean, but 1/ parking at the hotel (u dont really have any other options) will set u back with another 30 kunas/day. Also: in the main season their parking lot is full, so every time u want to leave, they have to move 4-5 cars out of ur way, to free up the driveway, which cud take 5-10 minutes. 2/ NO ENGLISH!! The receptionists are nice and helpful, but they absolutely don't speak any languagaes, which I thought was shocking. 3/ the hotel has its own beach, but the sunbed and the umbrella costs an additional 20 kunas/day, each. 4/ bereakfast is good and substantial, but (unlike some other 3star hotels in the area) u cannot eat outside on the huge terrace, which might be an issue for some travelers. Overall: u cant really communicate with the receptionists (so dont rely on them with ur travel plans), but we had a great time anyway!!

The hotel is very old and out-of-date. the last renovation was in 70s. It requires complete renovation. The breakfast cristal hall is nice and more or less in good condition.

Is really good to find a place were all the employees speak 4-5 language. The location is really cute and quiete. The food is fantastic. Ottimo posto per i tusristi italiani, si mangia benissimo e il personale parla piu lingue. Albergo bello e dipendenti gentilissimi.

Ideale per chi sogna romanticismo e tranquillità. Peccato per l'assenza di aria condizionata nelle camere.

Fabulous location within easy reach of everything. We were upgraded to sea view room with balcony. Breakfasts excellent. All staff very helpful but front desk staff brilliant. Suit older people. A bit faded (fin de siecle) but clearly a grand hotel in its day. Beautiful setting right on water's edge and gardens behind. Parking can be a problem - limited spaces and very tight but shouldn't be a problem out of high season. Parking costs 25 kuna per day. We found Opatija itself disappointing - 2 nights would have sufficed but poor weather didn't help! Interesting feature of hotel is underground seawater swimming pool to supplement charming outdoor one.

I really enjoyed my stay, as the atmosphere in the hotel is really special and came up to my expectations, but you must appreciate that kind of somewhat "decadent" flair. Just one thing: The bathtub definitely needs to be replaced!
