Great place to stay. The only nicer place in town is the Palazzo across the street (which is gorgeous) and which is owned by the same family. And while we never eat in hotel restaurants, the Grotta's really is the best in town - inviting, reasonably priced, and delicious.

Employees are very nice and attended us for lunch despite our check-in have had made after 15:30h. It was very kind of them. The San Benedeto Church is located just 50 steps from de Hotel. The only negative point, in my opinion - the room doesn´t have enough lamps or they don´t iluminate properly. The landscape, with mountains, is very beautiful with many routes for walking, and it is possible to snow even in early April. Helena

This was our third stay at the Grotta Azzurra and we would happily return again. Our rooms were larger than on previous stays and very comfortable. The highlights, however, were the warm hospitality of the Bianconi family and their staff, and the fabulous restaurant!

We stayed in this hotel within 05-06.2008. This hotel is located in the old building raised in 16th century in the center of the town. There are only paid car parking near the hotel. Our room was rather small but very comfortable. This hotel many years belongs to one family all members of which work there. Service stuff is very careful and hospital. There is large restaurant on the ground floor with good cooking. This is a wonderful place for rest. Booking room through venere.com shall help you to save sufficient percentage of its cost.

Outstanding hotel! This is not just another Hotel. In Grotta Azzurra Hotel and in the hotel restaurant, you will feel most welcome guest! the special character of the people of Norcia: warmhearted and friendly. The service was the best. Anna, the owner is so wonderful and care! We were there on the first time but I am sure we will come again and again!

Grotta Azzurra it's very closer to the principal attractions. It is in the city center of a very nice village. General exeperience was very good, good food and restaurant and good service, nice staff and clean rooms. Very good rates, I suggest it.

Within walled town of Norcia. Finding the hotel was not that easy, because main entrance is on a street with no access. Parking very restricted but easy and free parking outside the walls. Huge banqueting rooms and top quality choice of food - 10% off if resident. Room was good, although hotel used by school trips and occasional large party. The longer you stayed, the more choice you had for breakfast - just ask!

This and the other Bianconi hotel in Norcia apparently are tour bus depots, in effect. The building is greatly in need of tlc, safety inspections, and renovation. (I should mention that I greatly prefer old, medieval, antiquated places with oversteep and worn stairs, creaking floors, etc....but the Grotto Azzura is decidedly not this, nor what their advertising would have you think.) Its ambience is shabby, dark, and neglected. The service is poor to mystifying, and the restaurant fare aproaches that of a mess hall (at worst) or an American all-you-can-eat buffet (at best). On one morning of our stay, there was no breakfast at all, save pieces of pound cake, and the dining areas had not been cleared from the previous night...plates with food, soiled linens and tableware all remained. So I'd strongly advise a traveler to stay at an agriturismo or b&b instead. The region and the national park are stunningly beautiful; the hiking and exploring opportunities are the finest; and there are good restaurants in Norcia. You need not stay at the Grotto Azzurra!

We had a large room with a lovely view. The breakfast was ample. The staff were very friendly and helpful. The location is perfect; just a few steps from the main square. This hotel represents good value for the cost of the room. Norcia is a pleasant town and we are pleased that we had a chance to visit there.

We very much enjoyed our stay. The staff were very kind and pleasant. Our room was quiet and comfortable. The restaurant was excellent. Reliable parking required a bit of a walk. However, this is common, in our experience, when staying in small, walled cities.
