We decided to splurge a bit and stay at the Hotel Suisse - weighed the difference between price and location and location won out. It offers the most spectacular view of the Nice coastline - impossible to match by any other because of the unique location. Also, the close proximity to Old Nice makes it very convenient for shopping in the Marche de Fleurs and restaurants. Get a room with a balcony, buy yourself a bottle of wine, some good cheese and a baguette - sit outside and create a memory that will surely last a lifetime.

Stayed for 5 nights in a standard room with sea view. Room was good but stayed here for the fantastic location and view. Public area of hotel is small and not welcoming but more than compensated for by the hotel's location. Quite expensive but it is Nice !

This hotel was great. I loved my room (overlooking the promenade and beach) I was there for Bastille Day, so it was not quiet, however the windows did a good job of keeping sound out when closed. Nice was very hot and very humid, but the room had great airconditioning. I had a marvellous view of the beach - and Bastille Day fireworks. The lift was very small and did not always work, however, the morning I left, I was greeted at the elevator by a staff member who told me the elevator was broken and who took my luggage downstairs for me very quickly and efficiently. I did not have breakfast there as I felt it was quite expensive (14 Euros). However, friends were staying right next door and paid 3X the room rate that I paid and the breakfast there was 21 Euros!!!. I would highly recommend this hotel to anyone, and would certainly stay there again. Excellent value!

We had a great stay ath the Hotel Suisse. The hotel's location is unbeatable-right at the end of the Promenade des Anglais and underneath the staircase leading to a panorama of the city. We were fortunate enough to be upgraded to a room with a balcony and we just loved it. The view from our room was fabulous, and we were just steps from the beach. The breakfast was too expensive for our budget but we had no trouble finding places to eat in town, since the hotel is just a few minutes walk from Vieux Nice. Overall a great stay and we're already talking about a return trip to the Hotel Suisse!

View to die for, we were on the 5th floor privilege room with a balcony overlooking the beach, unbelievable! Well worth the price Only complaint was check out, elevator was disabled due to furniture moving on 4th floor, we had to carry our bags down 5 floors and the staff did not seem to care. Reason to stay - unsurpassed view.

I've stayed at this hotel several times. It's well-located, extremely clean, and the staff is friendly. Note: there is a flight of about 10 stairs at the entryway, with no ramp or elevator alternative.

Room and service were faultless but breakfast was disappointing for the price. Staff were helpful and polite and hotel is well situated on the seafront with most rooms having a sea view.

We had a balcony sea-view room and it was totally worth it! The view could not be beat and we barely wanted to leave the balcony. The hotel is also in walking distance of all the great eating and markets of Old Nice which was super convenient.

We mainly needed a hotel that was close to the cruise ship terminal (which you can walk to) and reasonably priced for a one night stay, but found that this hotel was very well located for "old Nice" in general with beautiful views of the whole waterfront. It is a basic hotel but the rooms, although small, are smartly done and the bathrooms are recently renovated. We would definitely stay there again for another cruise; for longer than one night, I'd want to try and get a room with a "sit on" balcony.

Yes, The view was excellent, but the room was tiny, even by French standards. It was a disgrace for the money we paid. Maybe 12ft by 10 ft. There was not one piece of furniture in the room other than the smallish bed and two night stands - one of which we used to put a piece of luggage, and a lamp/TV table (tiny screen). Not even a dresser to put away clothes. There was a chair which I had to put out on the 18 inch balcony so my husband and I could move in the room,. There was a 12 inch wide closet with shelves to put some clothes. The other side was about 8 inches of hanging space. The safe was on the top shelf, too high for me to use (I am 5" 3" with my shoes) and you had to push the closet door with all you strength to get it out of the way for the taller person to use the safe. The bathroom was not bad except there was no where to put anything. I asked for extra towels one night so I would have them next day for a shower and next day the maid took them away and then did not seem to understand that I wanted more towels, even though I spoke nice French. The bed was so lumpy and uncomfortable we barely got sleep. My husband's feet hung off the end. Breakfast was 20E each, a bit pricey for me, but the hotel is in a great location next to Old Nice - so food was no problem. There are stairs at the entrance so be careful how much your bags weigh. The elevator took no less than 8 - 9 minutes to come and had room for two people - no bags, or one person and a suitcase. It took quite a bit of maneuvering to get us and our luggage to and from our room. There is no help. The view is great, but the room we were in which was a standard, even though I had requested a deluxe, was just awful. If Nice weren't such a wonderful place that we just loved, and the weather wasn't perfect, the room could have ruined the vacation. All I can say is BEWARE! They told me I should have emailed them for the room dimensions before booking. Nice is great! Food is great! Fun place I would

The hotel was well located. The rooms were small and the balconies not adequately separated from one another. The elevator had barely enough room for two people and it was impossible to accompany your luggage. All in all it was reasonably priced and I would stay there again. I would suggest renting a preferred room. It is larger and has a more accommodating balcony. The information the hotel supplied about parking was incorrect. It was far more expensive than the figure the staff quoted.

Stayed in room no.9(no balcony).Busy road outside but no noise in spotless room with good aircon & comfortable bed.No T & coffee making facilities so b prepared.Breakfast expensive 4 what it was,ditto-drinks from small bar in an area designed for function rather than comfort.Superb views from all windows in the hotel.Has probably the best location in Nice and would definately use the hotel again.

We explicitly asked for a superior room with balcony and booked months in advance to secure this, but did not receive it. This was very annoying. The girl at reception tried to do her best to compensate us and that is much appreciated and helped to improve our overall impression.

Although we enjoyed our stay at Hotel Suisse I feel in retrospect it was a bit overpriced - room only with small balcony @ £190 Euros, which we had expected it's fair to say. We had previously stayed in a typical french owned smaller hotel in town - it too had a balcony and was much quieter ... at less than half the price. The views from the Hotel Suisse are magnificent, however the noise from the traffic below is quite considerable. We didn't eat breakfast as we again felt it was overpriced. There are lots of nearby cafes serving breakfast at 7 Euros for omelette, juice & coffee. We actually watched the nearby doves eating the breakfast someone had left on their balcony after half eating it at 15 Euros!!It's worth staying once for the views ... but wouldn't necessarily re-book.

We had a lovely stay but the hotel did not give us 2 twin rooms as requested and confirmed with the hotel twice. We arrived to find 1 room a double. We had to sleep in it and then move rooms the next night, which was totally unsatisfactory, as we are two middle aged women who felt uncomfortable sleeping in a double bed.

Wonderful view, nice welcome, superb furniture without the usual "art" on the wall - a real nice hotel to stay for 1 or 2 nights - for a longer stay we would prefer a more quiet place althouth the windows kept out the noise of the traffic.

Very clean room. Great bath fixtures. Wonderful location. Definitely time to replace the mattress. It was the least comfortable on our 3 week trip. There was a transportation strike in France at the time we visited. It would have been helpful had the staff been inclined to give us better updates on the status. Do yourself a favor- skip the 15 Euro buffet and take a nice walk in the outdoor market. Great bread, fresh fruit, etc. A real treat! All else was fine.

The doubleroom were not as we expected from the pictures on the website. Nothing hanging on the walls (exept for a mirror) and the room felt very sterile and not so friendly as on the pictures. I was a little disappointed! The view and the location is really great! The one and only elevator in the hotel takes its' time! We even wished a little more of the expensive breakfast. But we had a nice stay anyway!

We found reception to be generally very helpful. We had a wonderful view from the third floor of the sea, beach and across the bay; the room was small but comfortable and up to date. As it was August, and very hot, we appreciated the airconditioning which worked well. The only downside is the entrance and reception areas which need updating. We had large suitcases and found it difficult to negotiate opening the front doors, getting up the stairs and into the reception area. Also the lift is tiny and slow so we usually just walked up to the third floor. If you don't have much luggage, it's no problem.

We spent 4 nights at this hotel, and thought it was very good value, and would return. We didn't get a balcony, but next time, we would probably upgrade.Yes, it is a bit noisy, with traffic, although fairly quiet between midnight and 6am, and I wasn't kept awake, also, I took earplugs, as I'd read other reviews. We'd intended to go out for breakfast, but ended up having it in the hotel, as the selection was good, with any king of drink you could think of, fresh fruit /fruitsalad, cereals, cold meats cheese, pickles, lovely breads, yogurts and you could do toast and boiled eggs. Everything was spotlessly clean, with excellent service, and the only fault was that we're tea drinkers, and the pot of water for the tea bags, was never really hot enoug, but this was nit picking :-). I think this hotel has the best views of anywhere along the prom, and the staff sorted out any of the trips that we booked. The only downside to this hotel, is that it doesn't have a garden, or anywhere to sit, although above this hotel is the old castle, and lovely parkland, with shade to sit, but don't be put off by the steps, they're not as bad as they look. No restaurant, but not needed, as our evenings were spent walking around and choosing somewhere nice to eat, so didn't want to be stuck in the hotel. Overall, we were very happy with our choice of hotel, and this was our first visit to Nice.

He did it for us, as we left France already, and i didn't have achence to do it on my own!:)

We requested a "balcony room" meaning one with space enough to sit at the table shown in the photos. We received a balcony but the railing was at the window; no porch on which to walk and no table or chairs. Be specific in your request if you want a porch off your room. The stay was otherwise delightful with all updated fixtures in the hotel. Parking is a bit problematic in that a several day pass can be purchased for the lot under the flower market near the hotel. However, it was always occupied upon our return forcing us to park under the palas de justice just around the corner. The pass would not work without an arguement thru the gate speaker as it is an un-attended lot.
Austria, Aug 2007
Athough there is almost no quietness, the view over the bay and the closeness to the old town are excellent. Regarding quality - when cleaning the room a nightdress disappears I asked at the reception and althoug they promised to take care about that, I got no response or apology.

Wonderful location. Stayed on 1st level--would have preferred higher. Biggest problem--no shower, just a tub with a sprayer. Very difficult to get clean, as the only way was to sit in the bathtub and use the sprayer. Beautiful view of the sea. Room was extremely small, but clean.

Great view of the beach. 5 minute walk to the old city. 10 walk to the harbor. Breakfast is not worth the price. With the doors open to the mini balcony, it is very noisy with the main road directly in front of the building. However the renovated balcony doors/windows keep out most sound (when closed!) Location close to old town very convenient, but no own parking available. So if one wants to leave the car during the day while walking around town or on the beach, one is stuck with an expensive bill for public parking.

Great view over beach and ocean. Swimming beaches across the road. Lots of restaurants nearby (1-2 minute walk). Nice clean and modern room and bathroom. Road outside was noisy if balcony doors were open, but if closed, air conditioning was provided. Breakfast was not included and if you did want it at the hotel, it was 15 euros which was a bit much! But not a problem to find a bakery or supermarket. Would definately stay here again.

This was our second stay at Suisse this year and once again we got a fab room overlooking the baie - this time with three picture windows, one of which was in the bathroom. Yes it's a bit noisy at night but this more than compensated for by the fab location (2 minutes walk to restaurants in the old town plus next to lift up to Chateau and park) and quality of rooms. Description provided on Venere was spot on. Location was fantastic. It was close to Vieux Nice as well as the beach across the street. Seeing as how it was very hot this season, I can honestly say that this was the single best air conditioning that I have ever seen. What a welcome from the hot air/beach. The rooms were very comfortable, and were quite large by comparison to some that I have experienced in Europe. Service was somewhat snooty, but not enough to detract from the overall impression of this hotel. I would stay here again with no qualms.

The room was marvellous and had a fantastic view over the Baie des Anges and the Sea. Even if we did not have a balcony, there was a petit balcon francais so we could open the doors and admire the view. Some traffic noise when we opened the doors, but very quiet with closed doors.

We only stayed at the Hotel Suisse for one night and had a 3rd floor room with sea view. The view from the room was spectacular - a picture postcard. The bathroom was gorgeous and everything looked quite newly refurbished although the room was quite small - some were bigger than others. We kept the curtains drawn back all night so we could see the lights round the curve of the bay. The location was fab and we walked to the old town restaurants in a couple of minutes. We were also by the base of the lift up to the castle which had a lovely play area for children. The only down side was the road noise but if you slept at the back you wouldn't get the view. We had a great stay and plan to stop there again on our next visit - what more of a recommendation can you get. We ate breakfast in the town as it is not included in the room rate.

This is an excellent hotel with panoramic views across Nice bay. It is situated directly below the Old Chateau, and a lift and steps to the Chateau are directly beside the hotel. We were on the third floor, and rooms were clean, comfortable and of a reasonable size.It was superb watching the sun set! Our room had a mini-bar, which was fine for chilling the beeer and wine that we bought at a cheaper rate in some of the local shops! There is a small lift which is fine. The tariff for meals including breakfast is clearly displayed in the foyer, though we thought 15 euro was a bit expensive so we didn't take breakfast and therefore can't comment on the quality! However, there are shops, cafes restaurants and bars within 10 mins walk at the start of the old town, where you can purchase baguettes and traditional Nice fare for breafast. (turn right when you come out of the hotel and walk past the Chinese 'fast food' restaurant on the sea front, then turn right again into the old town area) We thought that beer in Nice was quite expensive..average price is about 5.5 euro If you arrive at Nice airport get the 99 or 98 bus and ask the driver to stop at the Casino. Then walk along the seafront..you will see the Suisse straight in front of you. It's about 15 mins steady walk from the Casino. I suggest this because a taxi will set you back up to 30 euro and it's only a 10 minute journey. If you are staying for a few days, I recommend a day trip to Monaco/Monte Carlo. It takes less than half an hour by train, and the closest station is no more than half an hours walk (via the harbour) My wife and I thought that the Suisse was an excellent hotel in an excellent location and we will certainly go back again.

The Hotel is clean and bright with minimalistic decor in the public areas, and a warm welcoming feeling from the moment you enter. Having booked two twin rooms at standard price with a Sea View we were upgraded for free on arrival to Superior rooms with Balconies - our first delightful surprise. There were more to come! Having gone to the hotel straight from the airport we found that one of our rooms was available even though we were several hours early for check-in. This allowed us to drop off all our luggage and freshen up before taking our first look at Nice. The rooms were on the Fourth Floor and provided a spectacular view over the bay and promenade from the balconies. We had also been given rooms next door to each other, so we were able to sit on the balconies and chat to each other. When you are on a short break these small touches make it all the more enjoyable. Both rooms were very neat, clean, tidy and spacious. The baths were a little narrow but this was not a major problem. Breakfast was not included in the price and cost 15 euros per person - a bit expensive for a continental (albeit very good), and I'd advise eating breakfast out if you are staying longer than a couple of days as it can add considerably to the bill. The lift is very small, only enough room for two people and one piece of luggage each. This encouraged the fitter members of our party to use the stairs. There is no restaurant in the hotel but it is situated perfectly for strolling down to the old town area where there are innumerable choices of cafes and restaurants to eat at, and the area is as alive at night as it is during the day. It was purely coincidence but we picked the best time to stay in Nice for our short break, right at the end of February. We left Britain freezing, with snow being threatened for the week and spent our break in T-shirts during glorious sunshine - even sunbathing for an hour or so on the beach and sitting out on the balconies at 10pm at night in ju

everything about suisse i would have said was to be expected except the noise and the breakfast in the morning. the noise there's nothing they could possibly do about (they're right near a motorway as is every establish on the promenade) unless they installed soundproof glass. only the massive chain hotels have done that i would imagine. BUT DO NOT EAT THE BREAKFAST. when we checked in the hostess told us WHEN the breakfast was and WHERE the breakfast was - but not that it cost a whopping 15 euro a person per day! it was a continental breakfast - no hot food - nothing fresh baked. even the fruit was from a can. stay here if you like...the location is great. just try and avoid that extra 200 euro tacked on to your bill for meager breakfast at the end of the week. upon checking out the hostess hurried us through the process with regards to the fleecing breakfast. i figure - they do this all the time. fool me once.

My 19 yr. old daughter and I loved this hotel. The view from our balcony was breath-taking. The room was small, but adequate. The bathroom didn't have a shower, only a tub, which was a little disappointing. We wish we'd been given a choice upon check-in, because later we realized some of the room did have showers. The breakfast was good, but we both were under the impression that it was included in the price of the room; that should be clearer on the website. At 15 euros, we probably would have opted for breakfast elsewhere. All the other aspects of the hotel, however, were totally perfect, including its location. I would definitely stay there again, and with the information from our first visit, I would like it all the more. The desk staff was friendly and efficient.

This is a nice hotel. Eveything's clean, well maintained and accurately represented on the website. One thing that bothered me, which the hotel cannot do anything about, is the noise level out the sea side windows. The Promenade is VERY noisy all night. The hotel's location to the older section of Nice and the waterfall above is its best feature.
