Location ok. Reception worst that Ive seen in a long time: Did not change coins for parking. I had to go in an other hotel around the corner to change some coins! Poor service at breakfast too. Breakfast waitress even forget to ask the room number for one morning, so we got it for free. Location ok, great balcony, REALLY poor sound protection. Had to bang the wall to mute the peopple in the next room one night. Thats something I dont want to do ever... There was pipes just in front of the toilet seat, so I had to sit sideways, great.

When the first day i stayed in this hotel as i felt not very comfortable and got up late at 12:30pm, the cleaner just opened the room door and ordered i have to leave the room immediately just because she needed to clean the room. I told her i needed 5 mins to change my clothes. She told me that she didnt care and let me change in the bathroom. Can you believe it? And that night when i backed hotel, i found my bath towel and glasses just disappeared. It's the most horrible service i once met in Euro trips. Horrible!!!!

This hotel really annoied my. The location is ok, in the middle of beach and the train station. But the receprtionist is really really not nice. When we checked out at 9am on April 28, the receptionist asked us to pay more money than the price on our confirmation email. When I showed her the confirmation letter, she changed the total price, but still asked us to pay an extra 4.2 euro for tax. I said when I booked the room, the price has already inclued the tax. But she insisted that we pay the tax. I said I booked the room through VENERE, and she said it's just an agency which cann't represent the hotel. My husband and I were in a hurry to catch the train, which would leave at 10. And we didn't have too much time to argue with her and paid as she required. But we really felt unpleasant. It's not the problem of money, but of credit. We believe this hotle is not honest and untrustworthy. And we will recommend this hotel to nobody. And next time when I need to book the hotel, I will cosider what is showed on the webpay of Venere is true or not. This experience is really a bad on in my whole trip.

We were there in August 08. Stayed in 504,which really had the best view from balcony. However the carpet was moldy and had a smell. Bathroom was very unclean with other people's hair and the 'other' type of hair, they provided some unknown complimentary shampoo and you can't tell if it had been used because the bottle is not sealed. Curtain and bed cover were of the same fabric, they were faded in colour and yellowy, you can tell they have not cleaned them for a long time. Room doors are simply a push button lock like the ones you would have inside a house. You can hear your neighbors when they try to close the door becaues the doors are hard to shut. You can easily take a shower for up to 30 mins because the water pressure is so weak, water is only dripping out one drop by one drop. Bed sheet was very rough to sleep on (serious estimation: a feeling of 30 threadcount) Cleanliness was a huge problem. We had bug bites from the bed. Although it indeed was close to the beach, we had to move to hotel Boreal which is a few blocks away.It was only 20 Euro more but everything was much better. For this price, you can pay a little bit more and enjoy a bathtub and a real shower, with a real bed.

My room 310 could have been cleaner. The floor carpet was extremely dirty and unpleasant. This also goes for the carpet in corridor outside this and other rooms in same area. Sound insulation poor, disturbance from other rooms. Hotel handbook needs updating, one listed restaurant had closed 10 yrs ago; some listed TV-channels did not exist in my room (e.g. CNN, DW). Pleasant staff, excellent location.

This hotel was very basic in an old building with a small lift. There was chipped tiles and paint pealing off, but it was clean and everything functioned. Air conditioning and secure windows when closed makes the room very quite. However I did discover another hotel 2 days later for the same price that was a lot better only 2 blocks away.

We picked this hotel for it's oroximity to the railway station. As it turned out it was well situated for all our tourist needs. The staff all spoke very good english and made us feel very welcome. The lovely little breakfast room was a real treat, and a good deal as well as one is served a little more than on the street for that same price! The "Breakfast Madam" is a little intimidating at first as she doesn't speak to anyone, and as you don't quite know how to act at first a little direction would be helpful!

The hotel is the perfect place to stay in Nice. Our room was awesome....5th floor with a wrap around balcony over looking a church. It's in a quiet area with the shopping and beach just a few blocks away. Cheap breakfast halfway to the train station, and great Indian food at Shimbaya. Avoid tourist areas and get great food at half the price. Front desk people were not friendly nor had any clue about Nice and directions. It wasn't a big deal to us because our room was so great, but don't expect many conversations or smiles from the front desk people. Room 504 is the best one if you can request it.

We where looking for a good situated hotel, close to the center of Nice, easy to reach by bus from the airport, to an attractive price, then we found Nouvel Hotel. This hotel fulfill all what we expected to get a very good stay, with a nice breakfast room on the 1 floor, good service and good food all what we need to a good price. Next time we are in Nice we don`t have to look for other hotel, The only problem is, can we get a room at Nouvel Hotel again!

This hotel is in a lovely location.. 5 mins from the beach , lively eating area with some good restaurants just behind it. it s about 10 mins to train station and 10 to the old town. The rooms are small and basic but clean. most of them seem to have a balcony the only downside is that the traffic seems to go all night so that big window which is great during the day is a bit of a bother if you re a light sleeper. I didnt have the breakfast.. at 15 euro it seemed abit over the top and 2 streets behind the hotel you can get crepes from 3 euro. Overall the hotel was cheap and cheerful.. great power in the shower which is always nice after a long day walking around nice.

A renovated downtown hotel, the renovations are in public areas. The breakfast room was beautiful, and breakfast, while sparse, was fine. Room was oddly-shaped, and very small, with even tinier bathroom and shower. Because of odd shape, there was less than 12 inches between end corner of bed and wall of bathroom, requiring one to turn sideways to get from the door of the room to the end of the bed - where the desk and only chair was. Way too small and uncomfortable for the 145 Euro price. No parking at hotel, and desk clerk when asked did not tell us about parking nearby, though it exists. There is a shuttle to the airport - but not from - so we turned in rental car, took a cab back, and the shuttle the next morning. The hotel is in easy walking distance of many, many restaurants.

This location of this hotel is fantastic, as is the facade, but that's about all it's got going for it. The bedrooms are grim. I wouldn't stay there again unless I was desperate, there are much better hotels in Nice for a similar price range if you shop around. I'm not quite sure how this hotel managed to get some okay reviews.... plus, when we were there it was full!!! The carpets in the bedrooms (and I saw more than one bedroom as the first was so small we asked to swap) must be 200 years old. Have they ever been replaced/cleaned? They were so bad you have to wear shoes at all times (even to pop to the loo in the middle of the night). The shower cubicle was tiny with a nasty old curtain that stuck to your legs. The toilet door didn't close properly. The best thing about our room was a view of the Holiday Inn... I wished I was staying there. Breakfast was bread, bread and more bread. The reception staff looked like they'd rather be in the Holiday Inn too. I go to Nice quite a lot, but never, never the Nouvel again.

I read other reviews before we went to Nice, and my comments agree broadly with others. The hotel is excellently located; it offers basic accommodation at a good price. The french windows did not seal fully closed, which allowed sounds in from the street. The room was too warm, even in cool weather, and there seemed to be no cooling, just heating. Otherwise the room was good at the price, with all the normal facilities and everything working. We took breakfast only one morning in the hotel, and unfortunately were not made welcome. This upset my wife. The reception staff were very helpful and friendly. We got very good information from the hotel before we arrived, about parking, which was fortunate, because we found driving in Nice very difficult indeed on arrival. If on a tight budget we would stay again, otherwise I would be inclined to go elsewhere for more comfort. However, unless able to secure a bargain break, hotels seemed expensive in Nice.

Hotel in good central location - bit noisy early morning. It is a fine building - see external photos. But inside it is desparately in need of redocoration/refurbishment. Stained carpets, knackered mattress poor decoration. If it's done up go there, if not leave it out.

Direi ottima soluzione per chi volesse visitare la costa azzurra mantenendo un buon rapporto qualità prezzo Quite and very close to the center 3 minutes from rue de france and less than 10 from old Nice. There is a big car park within 200 metres more or less 23 euro per day (outside of the hotel first to the left, straight ahead on the right side of the street). Rooms are quite and clean and the breakfast is simple but good (it's not an english breakfast)

WE were very happy with our stay at the Nouvel Hotel. We were two blocks from shopping and the Promenade Anglaise. The breakfast offered, besides being FREE (only time we saw that in France) was excellent, offering more choice than what is typical for continental breakfasts. Our room was a corner room and was quite spacious for European standards. I would imagine that non-corner rooms might be smaller, so I would suggest people request a corner room. All in all, from room to service to location, our stay at the Nouvel Hotel was charming.

I stayed at the Nouvel twice in 10 days. The two rooms I had were both clean, although small, but showing their age a bit. Everything worked fine and the staff was quite helpful except for one young woman who I only got to smile on the second day of my second stay! The location is excellent with many fine restaurants nearby and the breakfasts? Well, the room is beautiful, the hostess wonderful and the breakfast was just what I like for a breakfast in France. Definitely worth the price, since going out costs the same, but couldn't ever be as good!

The room was adequate, as was the daytime receptionist (she was pleasant). The night receptionists were inadequate and mis-informative about local attractions and service. Our air-conditioning didn't work both nights - it screeched so loud that we had to turn it off completely. They were supposed to fix it during the day, but apparently it didn't get fixed because it continued screeching. When we informed the night receptionist, he had no recourse or apologies. The day receptionist did give us 1/2 off the price when we checked out, but it did take some prodding. We were right on the street, which was a nice view, but noisy at night. With no air-conditioning we decided not to open the windows because of the street noise (mopeds). Some mold in the shower. Somewhat convenient location to main pedestrian street and beach (a 10 minute walk to beach). It's o.k. if you're on a budget.

We got a really great rate on our double room at Hotel Nouvel by booking through Venere.com early, and therefore saved a good amount versus the "on-the-spot-rate" that was posted when we arrived at the hotel. Overall, we were very satisfied with our stay (bed was somewhat hard though). Also, the receptionist provided us with some very inaccurate information about how long it would take to get to CDG airport from the hotel, and we almost missed our flight to prague because of it. However, nice hotel, even better area of Paris.

The outside of the building is beautiful - shame about the low standard of the bedrooms.

the best thing about this hotel is the location as it is very central and therefore, although the hotel is not great, for the money i think it is good value. there is a good brasserie(les deux palmiers) about 20m down the street if you are tired! the staff were friendly and helpful. the room was not great but reasonable. so if you cannot afford the negresco (who can?) then nouvel is a decent and convenient option. we had a very good meal at the vendome brasserie just a few minutes walk away .

This hotel was beautiful. We had a room with a balcony looking over Hugo Blvd. It was lovely in the evening to sit with the windows open. The breakfast was okay. It is a picturesque looking hotel. It gave us some of the best memories of our trip to France! Location was good. Just a block or two from the main restaurant region and a block or so more from the beach. They don't have their own parking but there is a pay lot ($20 per day) just a block away. They did add some sort of hotel tax to our hotel bill (about $1.3 per day) when we checked out, which I wasn't glad to see....the staff person said it was just the "owners policy". But we would stay here again..very quiet, clean and convenient.

Stayed here on three occasions, as couple and on my own. Some rooms nicer than others but all perfectly adequate, good shower with nice little bottles of shower gel etc (I hate those mean little sachets you sometimes get!). Bed comfy. Noise as expected for the middle of a large town. Staff very pleasant, tolerated my hesitant French and spoke good English. Breakfast less good - as with every hotel we've used in Europe, you're far better off with a croissant and coffee in one of the many cafes nearby. About 5 mins walk to shops, 10 mins to sea, 15 to Vieux Nice. Will probably stay there again but watch for price variability (+/- 100%) over different websites. Venere.com was cheapest last time.

We spent 3 nights at the Nouvel and were pleased with our choice for a stay in Nice. The room was predictably small, but charming with high-ceilings and being on the corner of the building had two doors that opened for a nice view of the church across the street, and the blvd below. The neighborhood is nice with lots of cafe choices nearby, and walking distance to the Rue de Massena, Promenade, Galleria and Etoile for shopping. Thru the hotel, we booked a minivan tour of the villages of St Paul de Vence, Tourettes, Gourdon and Grasse, which was a great way to spend an afternoon. The double decker bus tour from the Promenade was also a great way to see alot. The Musee Chagall was awesome! The Nouvel Hotel was good value for the money and we would stay there again!

The hotel location was good, an easy walk from major shopping, restaurants and old town. Room features & cleanliness were not sufficient. The netting above the balcony windows filled with pigeon droppings & nesting material causes you to to keep the windows closed so you don't see it. This along with the mildew in the bathrooms, waterstains behind the shower walls and small very hard pillows didn't inspire a pleasant stay. When asked for alternate/additional pillows, there were none to be had so should anyone spill or have an issue I guess they would be out of luck. When sent an email after we returned home to see if some missing electronics were in our former room, no reply was provided. I have stayed in a variety of hotel accomodations and pensiones throughout Europe and would strongly recommend exploring alternate accomodations if you are going to stay in Nice.

Nice clean room and impressive marble lobby considering the cheap price of the room. Good location and quiet. Would definitely stay here again.

We booked at short notice and overall, excellent value for money. The hotel was well located near the downtown area. The staff were friendly, competent and spoke good English. The room was nice and had all the features they said it would in the website. We'd recommend it.

Simple, clean and comfortable rooms with adjustable air-con. Location was excellent, short walk to the beach, shops and night-life. The only minor negative was the thin walls meaning we heard the room next door a bit (very little road noise due to double glazing). Overall, very good value for money in Nice -would use again.

The hotel itself was nice but the women working at the front desk was extremly rude and unwelcoming and would not let us check in at the time advertised on the site. It was however, close to both the train station and the beach.

We were pleased with the comfort of the room and the cleanliness. Also, the price was very good considering its location and cleanliness, although we did not comparison shop much. I am basing it on other places we stayed on our trip.

This was a great find. Very good location, 5 minutes walk to the main part of town or to the beach. The room very comfortable although a little noisy and unlike some hotel rooms not too hot. Did not use the breakfast fascilities as there were so many options locally.

My husband and I stayed two nights here in March. Facilities were adequate and we enjoyed our stay. Noisy guests in the room next door made for a long night one of the nights, but otherwise no complaints. Within walking distance of everything we wanted to visit, about a 10 minute walk to the train station, plus there's a laudromat within a 5 minute walk, which came in handy.

Thanks to the price you get from the web, this hotel is a find. However, their newly installed air conditioning system did not work, and they fixed it the last day of our stay. Thank god we didn't stay in the mid-summer...

I was disappointed in the room as this was the most that I had paid for any room on my 5 week vacation. I thought that it would be fresher than it was. It was rather tired. The staff were hit and miss. Some friendlier than others. If you speak French fluently you may receive better service.

Noise level in room was totally unacceptable, we could not sleep at night time because of the noise of traffic, mostly motorbikes. There was also a lot of noise from the guests within the hotel in the middle of the night. Fairly well located, about 10 mins walk from the Promanade. Portable TV in the room appeared to be the size of a postage stamp about 9 feet up on the wall. Shower was below average. Staff a bit grumpy. Didn't bother with breakfast as it was 6 euros - easier to eat out for breakfast. Would not stay again and would not recommend - and I'm not usually too fussy about a room as it's only somewhere to sleep at night

Very good value. Room was quite adequate, and the breakfast room excellent. The hotel is situated in a good main road, easy to access all major sights from. We loved the balconies and the bright public rooms. All staff were helpful and friendly. We would certainly go again.

Great stay! The 'petite double' was spacious, clean, with balcony. Excellent location, friendly and safe neighbourhood, and within a couple of minutes you can walk to the beach, old town, train and bus station...
