I came with my parents for a 2nd stay at the Windsor. We always find the hotel excellent and beautifully turned out and presented. The staff are very helpful and friendly. Its easy to reach the centre, station and a short walk to the promenade. Also the bus to the airport stops near by. The breakfast is very good and the garden beautiful and a great place to start the day.

The Windsor is an art hotel, so the room was decordated uniquely, but not to my taste (cold blue and white). The garden off the lobby was a very green and lush oasis - be sure to stop and spend some time there. For 120 euro our room was small, one of the smallest rooms in the hotel. The bathroom was so small you could hardly sit on the toilet with the door closed. The room A/C wouldn't keep the room cool, so we opened the window, but the street noise made this only a short term remedy. The hotel did provide an English newspaper in the lobby and one computer for internet access (but the keyboard has a French key layout and most difficult to use for me - I gave up). There is a bus stop just around the corner, but otherwise there's nothing special about the blocks around the hotel. Next time we'll stay at a less expensive hotel and accept a little less in decore. BTW, I think the cost of breakfast is way too much at the hotel, eat somewhere else.

Bien localisé, très beau jardin, piscine, bon service, petit bar, une bonne adresse à Nice, malgré le prix un peu plus élevé que ses compétiteurs.

Very nice hotel in a great location, nice staff very friendly except the grumpy evening desk man!! Good clean facilities. The only dissapointment was that the price of the rooms was high once you actually see what you get for the money. I would say the rooms are 25-35 euros over priced compared to other hotels we have stayed in in the same city or Cannes, Rome etc

We had a great time staying here and ended up in a spacious corner room for a great price Nice is a little bit of a noisy city, but the double pane windows really cut out any street noise. Very clean and friendly staff.

liked this hotel very much and would for sure come back. in almost residential area of Nice, but still very close to everything (just three or four blocks to the promenade des anglais). our chambre d'artiste (No. 57, by Claude Parmiggiani) was symply amazing. We just loved it. Plus, the room was facing the garden. The only bad thing was that we were right next to the elevator and grand staircase - the door to the hallway was not exactly soundproof... Cocktails and dinner in the garden was excellent and not expensive at all. the breakfast is a little overpriced for what you get though. all in all, a great stay! overall maybe 8.5 out of 10.

The hotel was in a super located in a perfect place for us. There are plenty of good restaurants in the area, the hotel restaurant was quite restricted in size because of the time of the year. The rate quoted on the web was less than actually charged.

smaller rooms and hotel than i thought based on photographs, although typical for europe. checked out other nearby hotels and they were similiar in size but most were more expensive, and some not so clean. so this is good value for what you can get in Nice. we went for the basic room. if i stay here again, i would try a better room (superior/deluxe). also the rooms facing the garden would be quieter. our room was very loud and faced the street.

The hotel has a lovely garden, helpful staff and is in a good location close to the pedestrianised area of Nice. That said, I'd booked a couple of 'superior' rooms, which were comfortable enough but nothing special. Overall I thought the Windsor was nice but a bit overpriced

It was our first time at the Windsor and it was a lovely stay. We did travel a lot and never find a such friendly welcome. Our room was medium size with arty decoration and very comfortable. We appriciate the free WIFI connection(which is rare)and the equipment of the fitness area. Gorgeous garden !!!!

Much better than expected! Very clean and comfortable. If you can, get the superior room with a balcony. The service is very good and the restaurant was fantastic! Location excellent, only a hop, skip and jump to the Promenade and Beachfront. We will definitely staty at Windsor our next time in Nice.

Nice is beautiful and this is an excellent hotel. The location is great - 5 mins from beach and 15 from train station. our room was funky and clean. The gym is more of a mediation space with some weights and benches. Unfortunately the wireless internet was down for the whole of my stay but i'll give the staff the benefit of the doubt on this one. Garden and pool area is small but very relaxing and more like a private residence than a hotel.

A++++ hotel! It is in a great location and has clean, large rooms for a great price. The hotel has friendly staff that are willing to help you. My wife left a bag of jewelry at the hotel and we did not realize it until we had left Nice on our way back to the USA. I called the hotel and they shipped it to our house in the USA free of charge. I would highly recommend this hotel.

The problem with this hotel is plain old false advertising. This is NOT a boutique hotel. I've stayed in cheaper, cleaner and more spacious youth hostels. The photographs only show the more expensive rooms and the "comfort" rooms are anything but. Our room - #111 - was horrible. The decor was an ice landscape, however the carpets were rust orange, the walls were dirty and the rubbish bin had ash in it. I don't know when the last time our room was cleaned as it was covered in dust. The shower had all these side attachments that didn't work. If you dare wake up after 10am good luck getting hot water. Our room was the staging area for housekeeping who would bang their carts and gear against the wall from 8:30am and walk around the hallways speaking very loudly. Oh, and they completely ignored our "do not disturb" sign and did our room anyway, ignoring the hotel's eco policy. The walls are thin, even for this type of old building, so that you can here your upstairs neighbour come home drunk, yelling and flushing the toilet. The beds are so uncomfortable that by the time I checked out I couldn't life our bags due to back/shoulder pain. Their breakfast is overpriced. Oh I could go on and on about how much I disliked this hotel. The good is that the staff was helpful, kind and understanding of our school-learned french. They even gave us a free glass of champagne for our troubles. What they should have done was an upgrade. And the common areas were very cool - the garden and pool area is really nice. If you stay here, do yourself a favor and pay the extra for one of the pretty rooms with balconies.

We had researched hotels in Nice for a good location and recommendations and found the Windsor Hotel. We were not disappointed and found the hotel only a short walk from the Promenade Anglais airport bus stop. All the staff were friendly and helpful. We had booked a superior room and were given a first floor room with a view through double doors overlooking the pleasant garden and patio. If we higher up we could have more time to enjoy the novelty lift. We breakfasted and had dinner in the hotel once and the food was excellent and recommend anyone staying there should eat in once. It was our first visit to Nice together and we packed a lot into our 4 days. All places of interest are in easy walking distance of the hotel. I'd recommend taking the city tour bus to get bearings and because it's hop off and on you get visit the museums etc on the way round. We seemed to end up in the old town most days were there a excellent bars and places to eat. We took the local bus up to Eze and walked down the path to Villefranche. Another trip worth considering is taking the train to the Italian market town of Ventimiglia and stopped off in Monte Carlo on the way back. The only bad experience was a very disappointing dinner by the sea at Beau Rivage, talk about Fawlty Towers and the spoon salesman. We'd highly recommend the Windsor Hotel and Nice for a long weekend break.

This hotel is very welcoming and efficient; the employees speak good english and were helpful on the phone. There is a free internet access point if you don't have your own computer. The hotel is about 5 minutes walk from the pedestrianised centre streets and about the same from the Promenade des Anglais, but the location is quiet with plenty of restaurants nearby. I would recommend this hotel.

The Windsor was a delight from start to finish. The only disappointment was that we were booked for just the one night! We stayed in the Aladdin Room which had a delightful mural and a small balcony overlooking the lush tropical garden. It was situated next to the lift shaft which was a slight concern, but noise from the lift was thankfully not a problem. The bathroom was tastefully decorated and provided the usual complimentary toiletries which were of good quality. Minibar prices were e2.50 per item - not bad for a bottle of beer, but a bit steep for a small water or packet of peanuts. We took advantage of the breakfast for 12 euros - not cheap but it was the more convenient option for us at the time. The self service breakfast was served in the garden and consisted of various fruit juices, cereals, breads, cold meat, cheese and tomatoes and eggs for you to boil yourself. There were also pastries and a variety of preserves. The waiter brought coffee/tea and a refill was no problem. You could also have requested breakfast to be served to your room. We also took advantage of booking a full body massage. This took place in the gym/spa area which was lovely and the masseuses were very competent and professional. The lift was fun - a retro mural of a space shuttle taking off with a recording of the 10 second coutdown, reaching "Lift Off!" as we arrived on the 4th floor! Thankfully no "Houston, we have a problem" was heard! The reception staff were all very polite and helpful and leaving our large case in storage for the day was not a problem. The Hotel is well situated on a quiet street and the walk from the train station took us less than 10 minutes. The Promenade des Anglais is a two minute walk, whilst the Old Town area is less than ten minutes. Would definitely return to the Windsor.

My wife and I took a short break (5 days) in Nice and stayed at the Windsor Hotel. We went for the Windsor because of the excellent and accurate description provided by Venere. The hotel is in an excellent location with excellent resturants and bars within 500m. Easy access to the bus routes and 15min walk from the train station. We used the excellent and cheap buses (1 euro per return bus journey or 4 euros for all day travel) to visit...St Paul De Vence.....Eze village...Monte Carlo (I lost 25 euro in the Casino) and The Matisse Museum......a lot in 4/5 days. The Windsor Hotel staff were absolutly excellent......the hotel garden was an excellent spot to return to at night for a night cap.........I have already recommended The Windsor to my freinds and both my wife and I hope to return......Many thanks Venere and Hotel Windsor for a great break.

We stayed here for three days and found the hotel to be very charming. There is a very nice garden where we had breakfast everyday, a pool and free internet. The room we had was a bit on the small side but very quirkily decorated. Our windows faced the street so when they were open, things got a bit noisy. The location was perfect with a 5 minute walk to the beach and a 10 minute walk to the train station (we took a day trip to Monaco Antibes and Cannes).

Arrived late with fractious toddler - got upgraded to superior room because standard rooms won't accommodate a 'lit bebe' which isn't clear on the website; helpful and friendly staff bent over backwards to sort it all out and didn't charge for the upgrade. Themed rooms we stayed in are a bit bizarre but comfortable. Breakfast nice but you'd pay less in a local cafe. Recommend the shady garden with pool and parrot!

I LOVED this hotel and thought it was excellent value for money. It's in a great part of town very close to the beach and the historical centre. Easy walking distance. The room was huge and spotless. Very bright and airy with 2 sets of floor to ceiling french doors which opened out onto a balcony overlooking the garden. Just superb. The restaurant was 5* - food the best I had on my whole trip often think of the great duck I had. Staff very helpful and friendly. Cannot say one negative about the place. This was our third visit to this hotel and we decided to upgrade to a superior room over the lovely garden. The bathroom turned out to be a bit small because part of it is taken up by the lift shaft, but there was a lovely balcony with garden view. There were fresh towels every day and all of the staff are welcoming and helpful. We found the location of the hotel ideally situated for the train station, the beach and resturants. It prides itself on being a little unusual and we started laughing when we got into the lift on arrival and were accompanied to our floor by the sound of the countdown and take-off of an Apollo spacecraft!. We'll go again.

Windsor is a gem of a place. The staff were so friendly, and the large, gorgeous garden was like a corner of paradise in the middle of Nice. The full-body shower with five showerheads was a fantastic surprise, as were the high ceilings and the little balcony overlooking the street. About a 20 minute walk from the old town, but quite convenient for the train station. Staff spoke English fluently, and volunteered maps, etc. Definitely recommend.

The staff of this hotel, especially the night group, are very unfriendly. In my case, they managed to lose my reservation 1 day before I was to arrive, and simply brushed off my questions about it. I never even received an apology for the hassle and expense they put me through. They definitely show signs of being tired of the whole "tourist" thing, so it is a good thing they are in the tourist business. The rooms are spacious, though not terribly new or clean, though it depends if you get a artist room or not I suppose. The lounge and garden are superb, though don't plan on using the pool, as it isn't cleaned often. They shouldn't even mention their "fitness center" as well, because the few measly weights there and other outdated equipment better qualified it for a fitness museum.

Nice original and artistic hotel with a shady garden with pool that must be a great oasis in summer (now in February it was closed). Perfect central location in the center of Nice and close to the boulevard. At first our room (two women friends, so we asked for seperate beds) looked a bit plain and strange with all kinds of artistic details, but quite soon we became to like it. Good and spacious shower. For the price the room was large but fairly ordinary - not as comfortably furnished as a 'superior' room would suggest. The restaurant was closed on the Sunday evening we arrived at 8.30 p.m. so had to check in and then leave to eat. It was also closed Monday - no reason given. We ordered tea from room service and received a small pot of hot water for the tea bags but no milk. Biscuits were not available as the 'restaurant'was closed. This small pot of tea was later charged at €8. It was a nice hotel in the reception area, and centrally located but I do not think it was good value for the money in January.

One surprise in such a good hotel is that there were no hair dryers and no plug near a mirror to use for my own dryer. Very 70s kind of thing: otherwise I enthusiastically recommend the Windsor and would go back when the outdoor garden and POOL are open!

When I arrived they had no reservation in the name of Conner and the hotel was full - they eventually found the reservation under my first name. Could have been very unsatisfactory at a busy time of year.

Stayed here for 3 nights in October with my daughter. The Windsor is a "quirky" hotel and ideally located to explore Nice. We had a twin room which looked onto the street and it was surprisingly quieter than I thought it would be. It was fairly basic but is was made interesting by the artistic touches! It was also absolutely spotless. All the staff were friendly and welcoming and nothing was too much trouble. Will definitely recommend and will definitely return!

I really liked the place and the staff were very friendly and helpful but the price i felt was a little steep. We were there in the 2nd week of October paying peak season prices

This was a great find. We had a ground floor room on the garden which meant we could enjoy 2 lovely dinners in the garden while our daughter (15months) was already asleep in bed. Staff and service were both efficient and friendly. Never expected to find such a slice of tranquility in the middle of a modern city. Definitely recommended.

This is a real nice hotel - esp if you appreciate the art-centric decoration. The staff were friendly and the room given to me (the white on white) was big and clean. I managed to take a peek at some other room, some can be quite small but all looks very interestingly decorated and nice. The location is also good, in a relatively quite area within walking distance to central station as well as Promenade de Anglais. Overall - I was quite impressed with the hotel. Not a bad choice at all!

An excellent choice, very close to Promenade and tourist areas. The garden rooms are really nice . We were very pleased with our stay and will recommend this hotel to all our friends

The hotel windsor was a really lovely hotel. it was situated very close to all amenities in a very quiet but central part of Nice. The service was excellent and was very good value for the price paid. We had a lovely room at the back of the hotel overlooking the garden which itself was beautiful. I would advise a garden facing room as the little scooters that drive around at night time can be very noisy. The only negative thing about this room was the fact that the staff setting the tables for breakfast were slightly heavy handed with the cutlery which woke our child on a couple of mornings. Breakfast was an extra 10 euro per person but worth it if you have a child and want the convenience. All in all a lovely holiday in a great hotel.

This was a really neat place to stay. Each room is decorated different, however, the quality of the work is kind of low. It's not funky really, not like regular boutique hotels. It's like they reached for it, because a family member wanted to design it. Other than that, I loved the accomodations. I'll stay again, and look forward to my next visit.

We were originally scheduled to stay at Les Cignales and switched to Hotel Windsor last minute because they had great ratings and also had a pool. I'm so happy with our decision. Hotel Windsor was my favorite hotel of all the hotels we stayed in during our trip around Europe. It was adorable, clean, creative and the staff was very pleasant and helpful. The garden area was so cute, I would recommend having the breakfast there in the morning. The pool was nice to have after a long day in the sun although it could have used more regular nettings (it's shaded by trees so we had to fight off the leaves in the pool). If you could upgrade to a balcony room it would be even nicer. We stayed in the room with the stained glass windows and checkerboard tables/funky chairs. Great big bathtub as well. The location was very convenient to both the Promenade de Anglais, Old town and the Nice train station. If you want a true "french hotel" experience, stay at the Hotel Windsor.

Hotel was in a good location with easy access to the beach and restaurants etc. On checkin I was assigned a room that smelled strongly of smoke, I asked for another room and was immediately given an alternative that was much better. The room was overlooking the street but was not too noisy. The gardens were very nice and was enjoyable to have breakfast out there. Overall I thought it was good value for money.

Charming & reasonably priced with elevator, short walk to beach.Extremely clean, comfortable beds & baths. The large ceiling fan in our room helped. There is an exercise room in the attic which involves a steep climb up some funny stairs; it has a bench, free weights, stationery bike, a shower, changing room, large skylights that open and a zen quality to it all. Didn't try sauna or massage. Small pool is in the garden, a great place to have a coffee, read, etc. The young staff are charming and very helpful. Art in the lobby's pretty nice, the stuff in our rooms wasn't earth-shattering. Try to get garden side rooms away from the side street. Busy area.

Very charming hotel. We rented 2 rooms, 1 for parents, 1 for teenagers and were given a free upgrade for the teens on arrival. Teens appreciated the exercise room. The garden with pool was a pleasant place to relax in green surroundings. The staff couldn't have been nicer or more helpful. The deluxe rooms were very spacious and the entire facility was clean.

Where do we begin? The 1st day we arrived, I decided to take a shower. Little did I know there would be 7 shower heads and the bathroom tile was extremely slippery. As I was trying to figure out how to use the shower, I slipped and hit my head on one of the side shower heads and smashed my foot into the tile - causing a stress fracture! Moving on - other comments: the Tv did not work, the balcony was nice, there was free internet, the staff was very helpful and nice, and the rooms have unique, individual decorating. We recommend the gold room or the writing room! Another bonus was the fun, entertaining elevator (go there and you'll see what we mean!) There was also a lack of hair dryer in the room, but it was a good location overall (close to the pedestrian zone and train station). There is a turkish steam bath at the facility (plus!) but the hours are not open after 10 pm (minus!)

The hotel is very French and somewhat dated. You really feel that it needs some loving attention, e.g. the reception area loos. The staff are relaxed and un-stuffy with a very willing attitude and always a smile. The garden is an excellent feature. The extra for a garden room is very worthwhile as the rooms have the space and ambiance that makes you want to stay in! It is worth checking out the bathrooms as they can be small, and I mean small, and may only have a shower. Overall though a very good experience and a return visit is a definite.

The Windsor is a somewhat unusual hotel. Apparently, artists have decorated not only the public spaces but also the rooms. Our room contained an installation set into the back of the closets. The very high ceilings were left stark white accenting the mohagany closets, etc. The ceiling-high swinging windows added to the overall aesthetic effect especially in the evening. This room looked out over the garden and the quaint street - all very effective. When coupled with the excellent, friendly service; a lovely garden for lunch or dinner; and a pleasant sevral block walk to the sea; this is a hotel that we will visit again when we return to Nice.

The hotel is ideally located to the main tourist spot for eating out and 10 minutes away from the train station, about 15 minutes from the airport, couldn't have been better located. I found the hotel itself very clean and very reasonably priced, the rooms were spotless and cleaned everyday. Staff were friendly and helpful. I would definitely recommend this hotel, if like me, you are not spending anytime in it except to sleep at night and have your breakfast in the morning before you head off for the day. I would recommend booking the garden side rooms which are much bigger and I think worth the extra per night as my only complaint would be that the rooms were small but I know that is to be expected when you are abroad.

Much as described - nothing special but a fairly good value. Parking garage is three tiny spaces and the hotel clerk who parks his own car so as to block them is clearly annoyed at having to press the button to open the door - not to mention having to move his car.

An excellent traveler experience. The personnel were accommodating to my poor French, responding fluently in English. To other guests, I heard Italian and German. The personnel went out of their way to be welcoming and gracious hosts. The restaurant meals were delightfully prepared and duperb for palatte. The hotel offers free Internet access, but be prepared for the international keyboard, which is a bit different from the American "qwerty" by only a few keys. The hotel is only a few short blocks from the beach to the south and the train station to the north. Closed circuit cameras allow them to announce taxi's from inside the lobby. I was so pleased that I went back to the Windsor from Italy on the way home. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!

the windsor is a lovely hotel with clean rooms and adequate bathrooms-no tub. the location is near the beach and a short walk from the center. there is street noise, mostly motorcycles, but that would probably be true anywhere else since the hotel is not on a main street. service was very good.

We were very impressed with Hotel Windsor it was good value for money ( although breakfast may have been a little high at 10€ but there was more than enough food available) the staff were friendly, efficient, positive welcoming & relaxed. We were made to feel very much at home. The room was good, the en-suite was good with an excellent shower. The hotel was very central for the shops, the sea front & the old city & the railway station. You could easily walk everywhere. I would have no hesitation in recommending this hotel

I loved everything about this charming hotel. I looked at two rooms, both were very cute. I thought the idea of having the sink in the room rather than the bathroom was very convenient, especially if there were two people sharing the room. However, I chose the other room because of the color and I was travelling alone so I didn't need that convenience. The location was perfect. It was close enough to the pedestrian district, but not so close as to be noisy. The beach was only a few blocks away. Transportation to the hotel was easy with bus 98 from the airport stopping at Meyerbeer Beach. . From this stop it was a very short walk and perfectly safe for a single woman to do at night. I will definitely stay there again.

I didn't expect such a great hotel. I thought it would be "botom of the range hotel" but it was not . great Decoration, Quiet, original design (each room has been design by an artist with a lot of taste). I'll plan to come back in May. For vacation this time !

I thoroughly enjoyed my stay, and would happily book a room at the Windsor again. The staff was very friendly and helpful, despite my bad French (yes, they do speak English). The hotel is well located, being within walking distance of the beach, vieux Nice, Cours Saleya, train station, etc. Rooms are reasonably spacious, for Europe, and are, well, let's say creatively decorated. This may not be to everyone's taste, but I thought they were very cool. I'd suggest trying to book a room on the second floor or higher, as the first-floor rooms are at about the same level as the street lights. The only thing I'd change would be that, while the continental breakfasts were good, they should either have been included in the room rate or, at EUR10 extra, could have included a selection of cheese and meat, as is the custom at other European hotels in which I've stayed.
