Very near the central station and bus stop from Nice airport and easy to find. The best choice to travel in Nice!

I have stayed there for one night on the 5th of Nov'12 - small room, but tidy, clean, free Wi-Fie access and very friendly staff. Will stay there again! Area outside of the hotel though - is not nice, lots of homeless, drunk people. No one gave any trouble though.

We did switch to a larger room when we checked in but the room we had rm. #106 did not have the electrical outlets working. The lights worked. It all did work out for us. We know the room had been recently updated. Stayed in hotel before leaving country.

It was the first time I stayed at Hoyel Trocadero. The situation near the train station was appreciated. The public area was not quiet at all. Difficult to sleep with the noises outside. I hat a double room with single and next time, back from my cruise I had the same room. Tissues, glasses, bath shampo were missing. What's a pitty !

A good-enough hotel for a traveller ”en passant”. Excellent location in relation to the railway station, just a few minutes walk, but the area is not particularly charming. The rather seedy neighbourhood is not a reason to stay away from this hotel, however, since most parts of central Nice are easily accessible from it. Even the beach is within comfortable walking distance, or take the tram from Gare Thiers to Masséna for one euro. Wi-fi worked fine, breakfast was acceptable. Not the place to stay if you’re looking for charm, but if you’re happy with a good, airconditioned room, then this hotel is worth considering.

Fist time at this hotel and I would stay there again. I would not recommend it to families with children as the area can be quite noisy late at night. The bathroom was very small but clean.

Upon arrival we were greeted by a charming young lady. Room # 560 was on the top floor, overlooking the rooftops and exceptionally quiet and rather spacious. It featured 2 double beds, so it could have accommodated a family of 4. It had sloping eaves, so if you are taller than 175 cm or 5 ft 8, this could be a problem. The bathroom was immaculate and modern with a type of round glass dry sink and a small shower. It was actually about the size of an airline toilet, with the addition of the shower. This was not a problem for us, but could be for anyone who wears jeans over a size 34 waist. The only negative was the rather sour attitude of the East European night staff person, Victor or something like that. He was definitely not friendly, and not remotely interested to assist us in calling a taxi for the airport. Luckily, the nice young lady began her shift at 8AM, and was very helpful.

This Hotel is clean and basic - for travellers who are on a budget and use their room as a base this hotel is great! the only downside to this hotel is - the area is not great... it is right near to train station - so bit rough caracters hanging around outside. Having said that, it is good location in terms of 15 min stroll to beach, couple of mins and on a main shopping street with trams etc... We did stay in Nov - so maybe in the summer it is different?? Enjoyed Nice - is great for getting about to Monaco and Cannes as well...

The local restaurants were disappointing in choice and quality. Especially, don't go just down the road and across the corner unless you like underheated chilled ready meals. Locally, don't miss the railway line "Chemins de Fer de Provence" -a great day out. The hotel was fine for what we wanted- good location.

The Trocadero was in what seemed like a slightly dodgy area, but it was fine once you were inside, though there was quite a lot of noise from the street outside. The staff were friendly and helpful, the room bright, modern and comfortable and it was just a short walk to the both the shops and the beach. This hotel is just around the corner from the railway station so you won't need a taxi if you arrive by train and your case has wheels!

Very close to the train station, so it was convenient for our day trip to Antibes. Old Nice was about a 10-15 minute walk, or just a few minutes on the tramway. Air conditioning in room. The bathroom was newly remodeled and very clean. The room had a small balcony, which was great, but there was not much of a view. Not a bad place to stay if you're looking for easy access to the train station or can't find a hotel closer to old Nice.

The receptionists at this hotel are evil. They were not welcoming, when we needed to add another traveler, they refused and basically told us that our friend had to sleep on the streets of Nice. They did not help us find our way around the city either. The room itself was disgusting, tiny, and I would NEVER EVER stay here again. DO NOY STAY HERE.

Convenient hotel for the main station, and access to Nice via the buses and tram route. Staff were very helpful and the hotel was good value. We stayed in a quad room with our 2 children - absolutely fine. Hotel was quiet. Breakfast costs extra but thats normal, and was free for the children. Being near the station the surroundings are not great, but its not a prob and is 1 min walk to main area and its all v safe anyway.

the staff on duty at night is terrible!!! i asked him for the access code provided by the previous staff while checking in. he only replied that "i don't know why you cannot log in, the code is ok..." i took my laptop and went downstairs again to show the french message shown on website seemed that i have used a wrong username... he took a look and said nothing. when i tried to use the code again and shown him it didn't work... he interrupted me and asked me to try it on the sofa... the attitude was so... bad!!! i don't think i will visit the hotel again if i got the chace to Nice in the future.

I stayed at this hotel for 5 days with my family. Reception and the cleanliness of rooms were great. However, the breakfast is really poor and it is not worth to spend 6 euros. The location is good if you intend to travel nearby by train. Also, there's the tramway at 50 meters away which takes you close to the beach. All in all it's a good hotel, though the prices are really high considering services and quality provided (everything is expensive at Nice).

Clean, modern room and bathroom facilities. Friendly, knowledgeable staff. Excellent breakfast choices (for once!) with eggs, toast, fresh fruit and yogurt, beside the usual bread, croissant and jam. Close to the train station but a ways from the sea shore and old Nice. A 15/20-minute stroll down Jean Medecin Blvd is not so bad.

Hotel was an easy walk from the main train station, friendly and helpful staff, and nice (if a little on the small side) rooms which were clean, quiet and quite modern. Would definately stay there again. Town and beach were a nice 10 minute walk down the main street. The shower head attachment had been removed, so you were unable to hang the shower head on the wall to stand under the spray - you had to hold it in your hand. When we asked, the staff advised that not all rooms had the facilities to hang the shower head. A very minor thing, but a little strange.

We stayed in Nice for 4 nights and the location made travelling around so easy because the hotel is just 5 min away from the train station. The hotel room had a weird arrangement though - the toilet was in a separate closet-like room from the rest of the bathroom. It seemed that the room was previously used as some other space before it was recently converted to a hotel room. The hotel was newly renovated so everything's new and nice and shiny. Pleasant stay here.

The cost of €95.70 per night for a single romm in a 2 star hotel was a bit much, this maybe due the fact that the grand prix was on at the same time and the prices went up. The room was very small however it was clean and this is a good thing.I was to stay 3 nights but thanks to the rail strike on the Thursday i was unable to make it from bordeaux and lost ones night cost i rang on the wednesday to explain this to the hotel but they still charged me for all 3 nights.

Judging by the neighborhood, the lobby, and its relatively low-price, one can easily expect the worst from Hotel Trocadero. But all summed up, the hotel is quite acceptable. My room (single) was extremely small but cozy - nothing but a bed and a TV set, though. The bathroom – which had no bathtub, only a shower – was impressively new and clean. There was a semi-covered hole on the wall right next to the bed with water pipes and every once in a while I could hear all sort of strange (and creepy) noises in the middle of the night. Actually, I could not understand how this was possible in a room that had been recently renovated and could be almost perfect. Everything looked pretty clean, although I could spot a stain on the blanket on my last night there. The room had no special amenities like a mini-bar but had a safe which is always useful. The breakfast served (6 euro, not included in the price) is extremely poor – cereals, milk, coffee, orange juice, croissants, bread, butter and nothing more. The breakfast room is quite ugly, without natural light and with some old furniture there – like they use it as some sort of basement. Staff was very nice and helpful but I must notice that I was paying 95 euro on my last night there (super-charged Grand Prix du Monaco rate) and they didn’t allow me to keep my luggage on the hotel facilities after checking-out at 8 am. The lady kindly suggested I should keep my luggage on the train station lockers (8.5 euro rate). Trocadero is located 2 minutes away from the train station and 15/20 minutes from the Old Village/beaches. If you are planning to stay in Nice for several days maybe you should try another hotel, but if you are visiting Cote d’Azur and using Nice as a base camp and all you need is a place to crash for 7 hours, then Trocadero may be a good choice - after all, you couldn't be closer to the train station.

This is the place to stay if you are looking for a spot near the train station that is welcoming and clean. The surrounding area leaves a little to be desired, but there are internet cafes across the street and the beach is only about a ten minute walk. The staff is very helpful and accomidating. For the price, you can't get any better and in fact, it will be considered the best hotel of our three week holiday. The breakfast is not free, but it does have all you need.

Half mile from the main train station. Had some problems checking in (had to wait for the maid who lived on the fifth floor to get back - call ahead to tell them when your coming) other than that it was a nice room with a very pretty view. It was a quick walk to all parts of florence and in a nice part of town with plenty of shops and restaurants near by. Our in suite bathroom was clean, and I noticed the shared bathroom was always clean as well.

Very efficient and helpful service from staff but room severely spartan and shabby. Bathroom very small but would have helped to have had a simple hook or shower where to hang towels. Room was very noisy (lst floor) due to renovation of building opposite and street sounds. Room at rear of hotel definitely advisable. Overall felt it a shame that for a relatively small investment from the owner the hotel could be made into one which is good value for money.

Trocadero and Normandie are in the same street (about 50m). The surroundig is o.k. This is not a red light districkt as other users think. The sea is 20 minutes walk. On the coast there are many fine restaurants. Not far, there are many shops. (5 min. walk Spar supermarket). The railwaystation is in 100m. Trocadero and Normandie almost the same. We had a nice stay at this hotel. We actually arrived two days early (due to a change in our travel plans), right in the middle of the Monaco Grand Prix. The hotel was fully booked but the receptionist was very helpful in recommending a great hotel nearby. The room we had was great, newly refurbished and very clean. Location was great, a few minutes walk to the train station and a comfortable 10-15 min walk to the beachfront. We did feel a little uncomfortable at times in the area surrounding the hotel, but no more than in any other railway area in France or Italy.

This was really close to the train station, which was great... but was on a street full of sex shops and internet hubs, not a fabulous place at night. The bathrooms were good but the bed was uncomfortable as well as our TV did not really work. The front desk staff didn't know how to transfer our phone calls to our room either.

The hotel is VERY close to train station and tourism office. In short, the location is one and the only one its advantage. I really can NOT stand the hotel staff, a female afternoon receptionist. She always seems to show that she was tired, bored and disgusted with hotel guests although I just asked my room key to her. If you prepare the similar budget and have other choices, you may go to other 2 star hotels.

The Trocadero was extremely close to the station and therefore easy to access trains and or buses to the airport and to other cities. The surroundings of the hotel were in an interesting section of the town - very close to sex shops and the like. The walk into the main shopping/beach areas of Nice was about a 20 minute walk. Nice was beautiful. The hotel photos show a much larger kitchen area - it is a cupboard at the foot of the bed. It is extremely basic. The room really only fits the double bed in it. The staff were wonderful and very helpful. Renovatioins were obviously going on and this did not impact on us much, although there didn't seem to be much of a public area. As the room was so tiny, we didn't stay in much. If you opened the window the noise from the outside was a little disturbing, but to get airflow in the room you needed to open it. If you want a friendly and cheap place to stay, then this is it. As long as you don't mind a bit of a walk to the other areas of Nice.

the employees at this hotel were very nice and helpful and accomidating. They let us keep our luggade at the hotel the day we checked out. As an foreigner traveling to europe to this hotel as well as other two star hotel, i suggest bringing bug spray as bed bugs are a common occurence. The rooms were very spacious and the service couldnt be beat!!

Hotel was very basic but clean, staff were helpful and eager to assist. Felt that there could have been more basic home comforts, coffee making facilities in room. However, great atmosphere and felt typically french.

th ehotel is in a bad part of town, which made it scary since we were two girls traveling alone. We found food in our closet and the room stunk so bad we had to have the patio doors always open. At least it was cheap, i guess you get what you pay for. The pictures we saw were of the lobby, not the room. We thought they were of the room and got a big surprise at what our room looked like. There is an elevator, that is nice.

We had a pleasant stay. The hotel is just a short block from the train station (if you take the right route). They have a very impressive antique elevator (in good repair) that we just loved. The drunks on the street were a minus, but that will require some pressure on the City of Nice to solve the problem.

1. In terms of my primary requirement when I looked for hotel options, i.e. the close location to the rail station I am quite satisfied. But for leisure the location of the hotel is too noise and disturbing especially when the windows look to the street. 2. The personnel is very friendly. 3. The room kitchennette should be either removed from the room or equipped (which I think is better) with kitchenware like at least a tea pot, knives, forks and spoons. Otherwise you should put on your site that all these things is your own responsibility. 4. I should note in particular the convenience of booking a hotel via venere.com. Thank you for your effots! I hope to

Einige gute Cafes in direkter Umgebung. Keine Nobelgegend, aber sehr lebendig! Ohne Einschränkungen empfehlenswert!

A reasonably priced, reasonably located hotel. During a one week stay, the room was cleaned once which was a bit sparse but there was a change of towels every day. There was no remote control for the TV which was painful but at least there was a TV. There was no hook for the shower head meaning it had to be hand held which was annoying... Despite those few minor things, the staff for the most part were friendly and the location near the train station was perfect for travel to other areas. The claim that the hotel is 5 minutes from the beach is a bit far fetched. 20 minute walk better describes it.

The room was advertised as having a kitchenette area for preparing meals, which it didn't have. The bed lacked a proper quilt and mattress and wasn't made up everyday. The shower was broken. The window faced a brick wall. The price matched the location of the hotel (by the station in a very dodgy neighbourhood), but simple things like the issues mentioned above prevented a better reveiw.
