We were a group of 4 friends traveling together and we stayed at the same room in Hotel Solara. Location is great. Beds and towels really clean, but the shower is really narrow/tight and it was dirty with a curtain that put us to think 'cause of its dark color, you couldn't appreciate if it was clean or not. In general bathrooms need a serious upgrade. If they fix that I will definitely return. The street tends to be really noisy at night 'cause you're in the heart of the area where the restaurants are located.

We were given useful information by the people on reception. They were welcoming. The hotel was warm, when it was very cold outside. Any noise disturbance was from other guests not from outside. Overall, a good visit.

You have to be forwarned that this is a very plain hotel, with bare walls and a floor that felt like rope. But, it's located on a nice pedestrian street with lots of outdoor eating, it's only 2 blocks from the sea and only 10 minutes walk to the old town and the price is right. The staff are friendly and helpful.

The person at the desk was very helpful. My room was small but clean. It was a good value for the money. The location is on a pedestrian street and easy to get to everything.

The Solara was a perfect choice for the couple of days my wife and I spent in Nice. It is conveniently located in the Rue de France and Rue Massena pedestrian zone. A little noisy at night, but the shutters on the windows do close and reduce most of the sound. It is only a block from the beach, and a short walk to Vieux Nice. The doubles were booked, so we selected a triple and got a 2-room suite. The room was spartan, but clean. Storage was mostly limited to the closet, which might have been a challenge for us if we stayed longer than a couple of days. The TV was rather small (13"?), but we never even turned it on. The room had a small fridge that was convenient for keeping some chilled water. The WiFi was reliable, and was fast enough for email and general browsing, but probably would have been a little slow for Skype. The hotel description said in-room safe, but our room didn't have one. Maybe the doubles have them.

Nice room with a balcony. Helpful staff, but a tiny elevator and difficult steps for hauling suitcases. Ideal location and fair room prices.

Great location. You step out on to the bustling Rue de France and have easy access to cafes and shops. It is only a pleasant ten minute walk to the Old Town which has a fantastic atmosphere, especially during the day time market or in the evening, where the eating opportunities are varied and plentiful. The Hotel Manager and his son are very helpful and can advise on bus/train routes to recommending restaurants. This small hotel (fourteen rooms is spread over two floors with those on the fifth floor having balconies (10 euros per night extra); well worth the extra if you have one of the larger balconies. Despite having a small room with a tiny balcony, it was adequate with recent decoration and new bathroom fittings. The beds were made every day and the accommodation very clean. There is no dining room and breakfast can be brought to your room. I think there is better value in the two cafes immediately opposite the hotel (American @ 7 euros or continental at 5Euros). There is quaint lift for two persons that gets you to the fourth floor reception otherwise it is a long trek up the winding stairs. I warmed to the hotel during our stay and consider it to be good value for those on a budget break.

The hotel is in an excellent spot on the top 2 floors of an old Nicois house, close to the centre of Nice. Room and shower were tiny, but beautifully and recently decorated, and the balcony provided extra outside space. Staff were helpful and charming. Highly recommended for travellers on a budget.

This was a wonderful location. Getting to the hotel was quite a struggle as it was on the 4th floor and the lift was one of the smallest I have ever seen. There was enough room for one person and bags only. But overall, the room we had with a balcony was perfect.

The hotel is very well located, but taxis cannot stop in front as it is pedestrian. Interesting place, the hotel occupies the top two floors of a residential building. The lift is very small. You get two codes, one for opening the street door and one for the top floor door that leads to reception. This makes the place pretty secure + there is always someone at reception. The staff (family run hotel) are very nice and helpful, the owner helped us take the cases to the taxi when we left as I was travelling with my Mum. We had one of the rooms on the top floor with balcony. We had problem with the wardrobe sliding doors which were impossible to move. Breakfast is extra, but excellent (the bread and croissants are top quality). The bathroom was very small and the wash basin taps were difficult to open and close. The beds were very comfortable and we had free internet connection. The room have a fridge, tv, and phone. I know it's the South of France, but in my opinion it's a bit expensive for that standard without breafast - it is afterall a 2 star.

The location is just perfect, we loved the pedestrian area where Solara is situated. It is close to the sea, old town, buses and train. Super easy to get to the airpoirt. The staff are great, very friendly and helpful. It is exactly what we wanted and expected for this price which is very reasonable. And of course not to mention the terrace that is lovely for some wine in the evening :) No point buying breakfast in the hotel because it is more expensive than full American or yummy crepes just across the street but the overall rate is HIGLY RECOMMENDED.

A great location in Nice, within walking distance to major areas and the beach. The room was typically small, but the terrace overlooking Rue de France makes up for it--a very lively location but still quiet at night in the room. Some more remodel/paint and new bedding is needed in our room itself, but the bathroom was beautifully remodeled very recently. Free WiFi and breakfast is available. Traveler's note: the lift is only big enough for two people and the hotel is on the fourth floor; very difficult to bring bags up--we barely fit inside with our backpacks. Be aware if you have loads of baggage. Overall a great stay for the area at the price.

We had a room with a small balcony on the 6th floor, with a view of the city and also a bit of sea. The hotel location is fabulous, right in the center. For the price we pay, it is very nice. The Owner was very helpful, have answer (support of internet) for everything for tourist, and speak fluent English. The hotel front door is on a pedestrain street, so if you have car, there's parking lot 2 streets away. Overall, highly recommanded.

Johnathan was so helpful and pleasant to deal with that it made our stay extra special! We came in a day early to check our reservation and he gave us a map and told us how and where to take the bus to the airport...he always went the 'extra mile'!

It's a family hotel and the boss is very friendly and helpful. The room was cleaned everyday and the location is about 5 minutes walk to the sea and 10 minutes walk from Nice Ville station. Around the hotel, there are a lot of restaurants, which is very convenient to try some local cuisine.

This was a nice little budget hotel. It was difficult to find, however, since the hotel is actually on the 4th floor of an apartment building. Also, parking is not included and all of the nearby lots were very expensive (between 17 and 25 euros a night). However, we just left our car in the garage for our entire stay and then claimed to have lost our parking ticket; thus, we were only charged the 23 euros for a 3 night stay. The rooms were decent size for a European hotel. The fixtures were very outdated and the walls were dirty. However, the maid service was really good and even folded and hung up all of our clothes. One of our two rooms had a very nice balcony. The front desk workers were extremely helpful and guided us to different tourist destinations. Overall, I enjoyed this hotel, though I would not recommend if you expect an American style, big hotel room.
