This was our 2nd stay at the hotel which for its great location is fantastic value for money. The rooms are small and old fashioned , but clean with enough storage and room safes. The staff are welcoming and helpful. We did not have breakfast there as we prefer to have it in the old town , but plenty of fellow guests seemed to be in the breakfast room everyday. Place Massena is a brisk 5 min walk to the tram stop and the entrance to the old town and the sea front . We walked to the station everyday which took us around 20 minutes but the tram is a frequent service for those who do not want to walk. Some guests complain of the noise outside but I didn't think our room on the 2 nd floor facing the street was that bad after all we chose a hotel on a popular street surrounded by bars and restaurants and most had shut or started closing by midnight . I stayed in a room at the rear of the hotel before and could hear nothing from outside. To be honest it was inconsiderate older guests talking loudly and slamming doors early in the morning as they went to breakfast that was more annoying and those kind of people are found in any hotel. In summary the Regence is a lovely quirky french hotel in a central ,safe location that is great value for money .

This hotel is well situated for the main pedestrian area in Nice and is within easy reach of the beach. However we had a room on the first floor facing the busy and sometimes noisy pedestrian street. The staff were unable to change the room so we spent a sweltering night with the efficient double glazed windows closed. Our room and its access had a rather grim, claustrphobic feel. Insist on a room high up and facing away from the street.

I found this hotel excellent.Ok the room was a bit small but apart from that the location was excellent and despite being in the centre of a very busy area no noise could be heard . The hotel was spotless and change of towels daily. We would definitely stay there again.

I feel the hotel would cater for people of all ages as it is very central for those wanting to be immediately within the activities of Nice. It is situated in a road full of shops, restaurants and entertainers. However, you would not know this once you are inside the hotel as it is extremely quiet. The rooms are also well soundproofed, very clean with good air conditioning. The staff were friendly and efficient. It is also only a few minutes walk from the Promenade in one direction and the new park in Place Massena on the other. Overall we thoroughly enjoyed our experience at this hotel and would highly recommend it.

For the price, Regence is good value for money, so close to the sea front and at the heart of the shopping streets. Our room was quiet (silent once the blind was wound down), clean and well equipped. For the price you wouldn't expect much more but for those on a budget it is excellent and we would return.

Hotel Regence is a nice hotel in a good location. The rooms are not large but they are clean, freshly decorated and comfortable. The bathroom is fine. Our room at the back of the hotel was very quiet. Our only complaint was that we paid for wi-fi access but then found it could only be used in the common areas and not in the bedroom. The best thing about the hotel is the location. Right in the centre, it fronts onto a pedestrian street with lots of cafes, bars, restaurants and shops close by. The beachfront is a few minutes away on foot. Most of the sights are within walking distance or easily accessible by nearby public transport. We enjoyed staying at the hotel.

The hotel is perfect except for one point :continental breakfast is below average. Croissant and bread have no taste (industrial process ?)coffee is provided from a machine, fruit juice is really basic !For the same price you get a more copious breakfast with fresh bread & croissant, tasty fruit juice and a real coffee at the café next door. An improvement must be made, really !

Rooms were clean and good furnishings but we were really disappointed that it was quite hot out and the a/c was turned on for our stay. They advised us to open the window but we were on the 1st level facing the noisy street and had to choose between being hot and not hearing all the street noise or begin cool and being kept up by the noise. Staff were not very helpful or apologetic about the whole situation. I would not stay here again. Also, breakfast supposedly free but it is scant and they charge extra for coffee from the coffee machine.

The hotel is central to all facilities with some good restaurants nearby and is within walking distance for the bus to Nice Airport, stop is Gustav V on the Boulevard D'anglais. Hotel Regence was a very nice experience, lobby & lounge spacious, pretty and welcoming, room was excellent & quiet if not a bit small (I didn't mind though), renovated clean bathroom (shower was a bit small or then I'm too big). Big plus for a HUGE bed by French standards (we had just the Classic Double)!! Multilingual, helpful staff. Room had an effective air conditioning, clean carpeted floor, no complaint whatsoever. Area is full of tourists (end of July) but it's a good neighbourhood with shops and restaurants and really close to the Old town, Albert park and beach. The price isn't too cheap but you definitely get what you pay for. I recommend warmly! PS. There's GOOD coffee available in the breakfast room 24/7 for just 1,50 EUR!! Good authentic cappuccino is hard to find in Riviera. PPS. It was gay friendly, they gave us a double bed and good service without questions. :)

The location is unbeatable!! Very convenient in every way. My room was quiet facing the back. The only noise heard occationally was the voices from the corridor. The cleaning maids do a good job. All the front desk receptionists speak exellent English and are sufficiently friendly. Comfortable bed with 4 big fluffy pillows. Bathroom is smiple, but very clean. The showerbooth looks new and is very clean. A hand-held shower with good water pressure. Although there are some downside, such as tiny showerbooth, small desk with no mirror, very slow elevator, I am quite happy with this hotel for the price paid. The WiFi connection fee/day is now only 1 EUR (not 3 EUR). The connection was good and fast.

All of the staff were incredibly helpful and pleasant. The location is excellent, located on a pedestrian only street full of shops and restaurants, very close to the beach, bus stops, and the tourist office, which is very convenient because we were there several times during our stay. Although the street is very busy, the rooms are tucked in the back and therefore it was very quiet and we never heard any noise from the street. The only improvements I can suggest (they are minor) would be a mirror in the room (aside from the bathroom, as others have mentioned), and a working outlet in the bathroom. Also, new carpet would really go a long way to updating the room, but none of these things negatively impacted our experience or would keep us from staying there again. Would also be nice if breakfast was included, but it's only 6 Euros and was quite good. Would definitely come back to Hotel Regence and recommend it to others as well.

The room was very quiet and clean. It also had the bonus of a heated towel rail that enabled us to dry our washing! The location was great, on a pedestrian street with many restaurants and shops right outside the hotel door. However we felt that the room was very small, and it was the most expensive place on our one month European trip. The one window looked out over a service alley to a concrete wall 2.5 metres away. A good place if you dont mind the complete absence of ambience, but a bit too expensive for what it is.

We booked this hotel for only one night before our flight back to the United States after a biking tour through Provence. It was very clean and met our expectations. The location was great, right on the place Masena, though we didn't feel quite the same once the evening music started up in the street just below our window. Though the windows were well insulated and blocked much of the noise, we still could hear what was going on below. We were pretty tired though, and as it turned out, neither my husband nor myself were kept awake for long. For the price and location (GREAT if you're coming from the train station since the tram stops a short distance away), we felt the hotel was a good selection, and if we hadn't had to get up at 4 a.m. we probably could have tolerated the noise a bit better. The room was not spacious, but it was certainly adequate, very clean, and tastefully done. The people at the desk were very helpful and accommodating as well, even offering to take a picture of us on the stairway. If I return to Nice, I will consider this hotel again and would recommend it to others, so long as they are not especially light sleepers.

The room/bathroom was very clean - in fact I have no complaints about the room or the service that I got as I found the staff to be very welcoming and accommodating. The location is excellent. It is near the Promenade des Anglais, is located on a busy street with a number of bars, shops and restaurants and is close to the main road which also has a number of stores and restaurants. The key differentiator for this hotel is its central location at a good price. The hotel is comfortable, clean, the staff are competent. Bedroom: was noisy on Saturday night as we had a room overlooking the street and even in January people are out partying until late makiing a lot of noise. Sunday night/Monday morning was a lot quieter. The walls are quite thin, so easy to hear conversations in other rooms. The room was fairly spacious by French standards. The bed was comfortable, bathroom and linen were clean. Rest of hotel: clean, nice decor, breakfast was nothing special - only bread and pastries with butter, jam, soft cheese. No meats or cooked food.

The Régence is an excellent value in this price range. Before booking, we read the comments of others, and found that the hotel exceeded the overall expectations we had made. It is not a deluxe hotel, but neither is it a tired, under-maintained little hotel like so many in this price range. It is operated by a friendly and professional staff, is very clean, has good bedding, and best of all is superbly located in an excellent walking area of Nice, amidst countless shops, restaurants, cafes, etc., two blocks from the beach. Try the street view function of Google Maps and tour the streets around the hotel for a very accurate idea of the street-scape where the property is. We tried several nearby eateries during our 4 day stay in Nice, and highly recommend the Taverne Massena, just a couple of doors west of the hotel - a large menu, reasonable prices, always top notch. I wish this restaurant were in Seattle! We would definitely return to the Régence Hotel when in Nice.

A truly delightful welcome both from the reception staff and the hugely attractive layout and decor of the ground floor. Room and bathroom small but spotless, air conditioning most efficient but lack of chest of drawers or adequate shelving for clothes a drawback. Typically French breakfast at a typical price for the area. Altogether a very good place to stay though for one tall and overweight like me personal and storage space is an issue and would become more so if staying longer than a few days. Some restaurants right on the doorstep - Le Mirador especially good. Easy walk or one-stop tram ride and short walk to the flower market (Cours Saleya) where numerous restaurants offer great choice. Beware some of the prices, though the 3-course inclusive menus generally offer great value. The Bistro Romain is outstanding - despite the scurrilous rubbish I have read on another website. Don't overlook the Sun Sea Surf outside the market facing the sea. Economically priced and unbeatable steaks despite the restaurant looking a bit like a seaside rock stall.

This is a two star hotel with five star cleanliness! The rooms are small but perfectly adequate, bathroom spotless and the location couldn't be better. Right in the middle of shopping, restaurants and transport, you never-the-less have perfect quiet in the hotel! We didn't have breakfast there so I can't comment but I would really recommend this as a great place to stay and good value for money. If pushed, the only thing I could think to add would be one english channel on the TV...but that's it.

We have stayed in this hotel many times. There is a lovely, friendly atmosphere. The rooms are excellent - particularly those at the back of the hotel where it is quieter as the front rooms look onto a busy pedestrian area. Lots of excellent restaurants in the immediate vicinity. Continental breakfast available in a very nice dining room for just 6Euro. Excellent.

I think that the hotel is suitable for well-travelled guest who likes necessary service and reasonable price. This was the first visit to Nice. Nice is a famous for having beautifull sea and scenery, so I wanted to visit. In actual, the color of sea is so blue that I've never seen it before.

We spent three days and we stayed in Room 502 and it faced a small inner courtyard. It was a very quiet room. We did not eat the breakfast , which looked like only croissants and rolls and coffee. The staff readily got taxi's for us. You can also use the bus from the airport to a nearby stop and then walk about a block to the hotel. The bus from the airport is only 5 Euros and the ticket is good for all day. It is close to all the shops, and restaurants on Rue Massena. It is also close to the beach and a Spar grocery store where you can pick up anything you need. Lots of tourist shops nearby. About a 15 minute walk to the Cours Saleya flower market, and the main bus station. Walking to the train station takes a good 20-25 minutes.

The hotel was in a perfect position in the middle of the tourist strip. Restaurants and shops were right outside the door and you could walk to the beach and lots of other places. The room was quite small but adequate. The breakfast was quite expensive but plenty of places to eat near the hotel.

Good hotel. Good location and spacious room. If you are with a car, it is difficult to find the place and load your laggage because you cannot enter into the street where the hotel is located during the daytime.

We had an excellent stay at the Hotel Regence. It's location is perfect and only a 2 minute walk from the beach and within easy access to the train station and although the hotel is in the midst of the restaurants and shopping, the noise level in the hotel was zero. The staff were welcoming and very helpful and cleanliness in all areas of the hotel was excellent. Catch the train or the bus (think it was number 98) from the airport as taxi's will cost approx €40 to the hotel.Would definately stay again.

We chose this hotel for a one night stopover stay on our car trip. The hotel offers car parking in their sister hotel two blocks away where we were able to park for the night. The room was tiny but clean and contained features that surprised us in a 2-star hotel: digital safe for free and bottled shampoo. The breakfast was okay but definitely not continental: only 3 pastries, jam, butter, juice and coffee - I would have expected a bit more for 6 EUR. The location is excellent: restaurants right at the door, the Promenade des Anglais within a minute and the bus terminal for a Monaco trip only 6-7 minutes away.

Excellent location near the sea and old town, the hotel was clean and comfortable, better than many 3 star ones i've encountered. For travellers with a car, parking can be a problem as nearby car parks are rather expensive (17 euros a day) and public parking is near impossible. Staff was friendly and spoke english well enough, wifi was also available for a sensible price. I stayed there twice and can recommend it to anyone looking for a stay in Nice.

We have stayed here before and will stay there again. Super location. Asked one of the girls in the reseption about when the marked in the old town closed(both flower and antic marked is famous in Nice) she didn`t know there was a market and not "today" since it was raining, outside it was sunny...

Great location right in the centre of Nice among the pavement cafes, restaurants and shops and just along from the fabulous new tramway. The staff were warm and welcoming and very helpful. Breakfast was good value for €6 with as much coffee as you could drink. The room though small was clean, however a mirror in the bedroom would have been appreciated

THE HOTEL STAFF ARE MOST WELCOMING, COURTEOUS AND VERY PROFESSIONAL. THE HOTEL ROOM I REQUESTED WAS VERY QUIET, CLEAN AND HAS A GREAT OPEN SPACE ROOFTOP VIEW OF THE CITY. THE ROOM WAS SO QUIET I FELT LIKE THE ONLY GUEST AROUND, IN SPITE OF ITS BUSY AND WELL KNOWN STREET LOCATION. I ONLY STAYED 3 NIGHTS BUT SLEPT HALF OF THE TIME AND SO MISSED SOME OF THE ITINERARIES I'VE PLANNED. IT IS THAT COZY, COMFORTABLE, WARM FEELING I FELT WHILE STAYING AT THE HOTEL REGENCE. A SIMPLE, NO NONSENSE AND DOWN TO EARTH PRICE VALUE FOR ITS QUALITY OF SERVICE, CLEANLINESS AND GREAT LOCATION. DEFINITELY A 10+ ! I WILL BE BACK!

Overall stay was excellent everything exceeded expectations, location, perfect, right in the middle of the shopping area, rooms clean quiet and comfortable, internet availability, staff with perfect english and prompt service. One recommendation, breakfast as expected typical european, but the coffee machine needs some serious attention (less water and more hot coffee).

The hotel was quite acceptable but the rooms are a bit small. The biggest problem was the difficulty in finding the hotel. We found the street OK but could not go down the street because it is a pedestrian mall after 11.00am which we were not told about. There was no where to park to enable us to walk to find the hotel. There is no parking close to the hotel and you have to park at their other hotel about 500 metres away and pay 10 euros per night for parking. We did not know this either. Directions to this parking would have saved us 2 hours looking for the place. As in the majority of hotels in France there was no minibar or fridge in the room.

This hotel looked very elegant and certainly matched the ambience of its surroundings in this wonderful city. Nightlife was great and the location of this hotel, along a pedestrian walkway with ample shops and restaurants, was second to none. We felt that the hotel was perhaps pricy but unfortunately, hotels are not cheap in this touristic city of Nice. it was a great vacation and the staff were friendly and helpful to give us directions where to park our car. No problems at all.

Hotel Regence was fine. Breakfast was a little limited. Could have used some fresh fruit. The front desk staff was very friendly and helpful. However, once when my wife and myself were out, someone, from staff I presume, came into the room smoking. Upon our return the room reeked of cigarette smoke.

A fantastic find in a great location. Close to hundreds of restaurants and well placed for all modes of transport, also a short walk from the seafront. Was pleasently surprised on arrival at how nice the hotel was, sometimes these places don`t quite live up to the web photos but this one did and surpassed it. Although very central our room at the rear of the hotel was silent. As we were here in July the temps were in the 30`s but on returning to the hotel every day was like walking into a fridge due to the efficient air con. Breakfast was fine but basic, all areas were spotless and the english speaking staff were extremely helpful and polite. We actually stayed one extra night as we liked it so much. Overall I couldn`t imagine a better budget hotel in Nice than this one. Will definately return!

The hotel is situated in Nice pedestrian area, so you can find just outside it shops, restaurants, pubs but it is very calm and quiet. You can reach simply walking the sea, the railway station and the old part of the city. It was a very nice and cheap stay.

This hotel is in a great location with lots of restaurants within steps of the front door. It is also a very short walk to the ocean. The only problem was our room number 40. I am 6-3 and had to duck my head to enter the door. I also could not stand up in the room without my head touching the ceiling. The shower stall was an adventure. I have been in larger showers on cruise ships! I requested another room but was told the hotel was completely filled. Since we did not spend much time in the room, I suffered through. If we had received a different room, I would highly recommend this hotel for its location and price. If you make reservations be sure to mention you do not want room 40

A really pleasant hotel which is better than some 3-star hotels. The only hassle is getting your cases to and from it as it is in a pedestrian area.
