Hotel Regence was perfect for our visit in May 2012 to Nice, France. The location is close to the main sights and it is easily accessible by tram from the train station. It is a pretty hotel inside and the service was great. The front of the hotel does not stand out, but once you enter, the decor is wonderful! We would definitely stay again.

the only good thing about this hotel it's its location which is perfect! other than that the rooms look ugly, really need renovation, the bed was weird and so were the pillows! at the check out the staff was rude with us and called us several times with bad attitude to leave the room. i'm pretty sure if you search a bit more you'll find something better nearby

A very nice hotel, perfectly located in Nice, with friendly, helpful and competent staff. A great number of restaurants all around the hotel made it an easy and interesting task to find a suitable lunching and dinner restaurant.

The room, a single, was every small, not much space for a big suitcase, but the bed was comfortable and the location is excellent. I believe Nice is expensive and this hotel seems to be good value for money compared to other hotels in that city. The friendly welcome adds to the good experience and I would definitely recommend this hotel. There are lots of restaurants and cafés on the street and the beach is a 5 minute walk away.

All of the staff were incredibly helpful and pleasant. The location is excellent, located on a pedestrian only street full of shops and restaurants, very close to the beach, bus stops, and the tourist office, which is very convenient because we were there several times during our stay. Although the street is very busy, the rooms are tucked in the back and therefore it was very quiet and we never heard any noise from the street. The only improvements I can suggest (they are minor) would be a mirror in the room (aside from the bathroom, as others have mentioned), and a working outlet in the bathroom. Also, new carpet would really go a long way to updating the room, but none of these things negatively impacted our experience or would keep us from staying there again. Would also be nice if breakfast was included, but it's only 6 Euros and was quite good. Would definitely come back to Hotel Regence and recommend it to others as well.

The only problem was that when I changed my room during the second staying, I left Nice for few days and I came back, the safety box for money was placed in a dangerous position, in fact as I tried to use it, the safety box fell down to my feet and it could have been dangerous for me as for any more client.

Large room and bathroom, shower recess very small with doors opening inward hard to get in and out. small TV limited programs but large TV in comfortable lounge in Reception. Very quiet. Great location on exciting pedestrian street with bars, cafes and shops open late. Very easy access to all transport trains and buses.Staff very helpful and friendly. Definitely stay again.

the location was perfect,we were given their largest room, which was huge - the bathroom was huge also. The room gave onto a small, non-accessible courtyard, so it was very quiet even though we were in the middle of a street filled with outdoor restaurants. The furniture was at a minimum and there were no decorations on the walls but everything was very clean.

The room was very quiet and clean. It also had the bonus of a heated towel rail that enabled us to dry our washing! The location was great, on a pedestrian street with many restaurants and shops right outside the hotel door. However we felt that the room was very small, and it was the most expensive place on our one month European trip. The one window looked out over a service alley to a concrete wall 2.5 metres away. A good place if you dont mind the complete absence of ambience, but a bit too expensive for what it is.

We booked this hotel for only one night before our flight back to the United States after a biking tour through Provence. It was very clean and met our expectations. The location was great, right on the place Masena, though we didn't feel quite the same once the evening music started up in the street just below our window. Though the windows were well insulated and blocked much of the noise, we still could hear what was going on below. We were pretty tired though, and as it turned out, neither my husband nor myself were kept awake for long. For the price and location (GREAT if you're coming from the train station since the tram stops a short distance away), we felt the hotel was a good selection, and if we hadn't had to get up at 4 a.m. we probably could have tolerated the noise a bit better. The room was not spacious, but it was certainly adequate, very clean, and tastefully done. The people at the desk were very helpful and accommodating as well, even offering to take a picture of us on the stairway. If I return to Nice, I will consider this hotel again and would recommend it to others, so long as they are not especially light sleepers.

Me and my wife stayed here for one night on out honeymoon. The hotel itself is very nice but located on a pedestrian only street so we had to get dropped off a couple of blocks away and haul our luggage with us. Other than that inconvenience, the hotel and staff itself were great! There are tons of shops and restaurants within the area.

Great location, 10mins walk from old town, 15mins to train station, 5mins from beach. Very quiet rooms, bed is much better than it looks so dont let that put you off. Big bathroom, powerful shower and all very clean. Superb value! Top tip, please do not pay €50 for a taxi like a lovely USA couple we met did. Catch the 23 bus for €1 only, dont even catch the 98/99 bus for €4 too!

I chose to stay at the Hotel Regence based on the comments made by previous guests and the number of repeat guests. I must say I was not disappointed. The room/bathroom was very clean - in fact I have no complaints about the room or the service that I got as I found the staff to be very welcoming and accommodating. The location is excellent. It is near the Promenade des Anglais, is located on a busy street with a number of bars, shops and restaurants and is close to the main road which also has a number of stores and restaurants. It is a good 15-20 minutes walk from the Gare but I didn't mind walking the distance. I would definitely recommend this hotel to anyone travelling to Nice. I will definitely stay there again if I ever go back to Nice.

As shown, our stay in Hotel Regence was very successful. In particular, we were delighted by our peaceful room(403!), and by the helpfulness and courtesy of the staff. the only negative criticism was from my husband! He did not like the breakfast coffee.Thank you so much for your excellent service and for making us feel so welcome on our little holiday. We shall certainly come again.Elizabeth Forrest( Robin's wife!)

The key differentiator for this hotel is its central location at a good price. The hotel is comfortable, clean, the staff are competent. Bedroom: was noisy on Saturday night as we had a room overlooking the street and even in January people are out partying until late makiing a lot of noise. Sunday night/Monday morning was a lot quieter. The walls are quite thin, so easy to hear conversations in other rooms. The room was fairly spacious by French standards. The bed was comfortable, bathroom and linen were clean. Rest of hotel: clean, nice decor, breakfast was nothing special - only bread and pastries with butter, jam, soft cheese. No meats or cooked food.

The Régence is an excellent value in this price range. Before booking, we read the comments of others, and found that the hotel exceeded the overall expectations we had made. It is not a deluxe hotel, but neither is it a tired, under-maintained little hotel like so many in this price range. It is operated by a friendly and professional staff, is very clean, has good bedding, and best of all is superbly located in an excellent walking area of Nice, amidst countless shops, restaurants, cafes, etc., two blocks from the beach. Try the street view function of Google Maps and tour the streets around the hotel for a very accurate idea of the street-scape where the property is. We tried several nearby eateries during our 4 day stay in Nice, and highly recommend the Taverne Massena, just a couple of doors west of the hotel - a large menu, reasonable prices, always top notch. I wish this restaurant were in Seattle! We would definitely return to the Régence Hotel when in Nice.

A truly delightful welcome both from the reception staff and the hugely attractive layout and decor of the ground floor. Room and bathroom small but spotless, air conditioning most efficient but lack of chest of drawers or adequate shelving for clothes a drawback. Typically French breakfast at a typical price for the area. Altogether a very good place to stay though for one tall and overweight like me personal and storage space is an issue and would become more so if staying longer than a few days. Some restaurants right on the doorstep - Le Mirador especially good. Easy walk or one-stop tram ride and short walk to the flower market (Cours Saleya) where numerous restaurants offer great choice. Beware some of the prices, though the 3-course inclusive menus generally offer great value. The Bistro Romain is outstanding - despite the scurrilous rubbish I have read on another website. Don't overlook the Sun Sea Surf outside the market facing the sea. Economically priced and unbeatable steaks despite the restaurant looking a bit like a seaside rock stall.

This is a two star hotel with five star cleanliness! The rooms are small but perfectly adequate, bathroom spotless and the location couldn't be better. Right in the middle of shopping, restaurants and transport, you never-the-less have perfect quiet in the hotel! We didn't have breakfast there so I can't comment but I would really recommend this as a great place to stay and good value for money. We have stayed in this hotel many times. There is a lovely, friendly atmosphere. The rooms are excellent - particularly those at the back of the hotel where it is quieter as the front rooms look onto a busy pedestrian area. Lots of excellent restaurants in the immediate vicinity. We spent three days and we stayed in Room 502 and it faced a small inner courtyard. It was a very quiet room. We did not eat the breakfast , which looked like only croissants and rolls and coffee. The staff readily got taxi's for us. You can also use the bus from the airport to a nearby stop and then walk about a block to the hotel. The bus from the airport is only 5 Euros and the ticket is good for all day. It is close to all the shops, and restaurants on Rue Massena. It is also close to the beach and a Spar grocery store where you can pick up anything you need. Lots of tourist shops nearby. About a 15 minute walk to the Cours Saleya flower market, and the main bus station. Walking to the train station takes a good 20-25 minutes.

We chose this hotel for a one night stopover stay on our car trip. The hotel offers car parking in their sister hotel two blocks away where we were able to park for the night. The room was tiny but clean and contained features that surprised us in a 2-star hotel: digital safe for free and bottled shampoo. The breakfast was okay but definitely not continental: only 3 pastries, jam, butter, juice and coffee - I would have expected a bit more for 6 EUR. The location is excellent: restaurants right at the door, the Promenade des Anglais within a minute and the bus terminal for a Monaco trip only 6-7 minutes away.

Excellent location near the sea and old town, the hotel was clean and comfortable, better than many 3 star ones i've encountered. For travellers with a car, parking can be a problem as nearby car parks are rather expensive (17 euros a day) and public parking is near impossible. Staff was friendly and spoke english well enough, wifi was also available for a sensible price. I stayed there twice and can recommend it to anyone looking for a stay in Nice.

THE HOTEL STAFF ARE MOST WELCOMING, COURTEOUS AND VERY PROFESSIONAL. THE HOTEL ROOM I REQUESTED WAS VERY QUIET, CLEAN AND HAS A GREAT OPEN SPACE ROOFTOP VIEW OF THE CITY. THE ROOM WAS SO QUIET I FELT LIKE THE ONLY GUEST AROUND, IN SPITE OF ITS BUSY AND WELL KNOWN STREET LOCATION. The hotel was quite acceptable but the rooms are a bit small. The biggest problem was the difficulty in finding the hotel. We found the street OK but could not go down the street because it is a pedestrian mall after 11.00am which we were not told about. There was no where to park to enable us to walk to find the hotel. There is no parking close to the hotel and you have to park at their other hotel about 500 metres away and pay 10 euros per night for parking. We did not know this either. Directions to this parking would have saved us 2 hours looking for the place. As in the majority of hotels in France there was no minibar or fridge in the room.

This hotel looked very elegant and certainly matched the ambience of its surroundings in this wonderful city. Nightlife was great and the location of this hotel, along a pedestrian walkway with ample shops and restaurants, was second to none. A fantastic find in a great location. Close to hundreds of restaurants and well placed for all modes of transport, also a short walk from the seafront. Was pleasently surprised on arrival at how nice the hotel was, sometimes these places don`t quite live up to the web photos but this one did and surpassed it. Although very central our room at the rear of the hotel was silent. As we were here in July the temps were in the 30`s but on returning to the hotel every day was like walking into a fridge due to the efficient air con. Breakfast was fine but basic, all areas were spotless and the english speaking staff were extremely helpful and polite. We actually stayed one extra night as we liked it so much. Overall I couldn`t imagine a better budget hotel in Nice than this one. Will definately return!

This hotel is in a great location with lots of restaurants within steps of the front door. It is also a very short walk to the ocean. The only problem was our room number 40. I am 6-3 and had to duck my head to enter the door. I also could not stand up in the room without my head touching the ceiling. The shower stall was an adventure. I have been in larger showers on cruise ships! I requested another room but was told the hotel was completely filled. Since we did not spend much time in the room, I suffered through. If we had received a different room, I would highly recommend this hotel for its location and price. If you make reservations be sure to mention you do not want room 40

The hotel reception staff were great - friendly & informative. I was concerned with what I believed to be a fault in security - you had to hand in your key to reception before leaving the hotel & they gave it back to you on your return even if the staff member didn't know you (& this happened on several occasions). So anyone could have picked up your key. The location was just great. I extended my stay here because I enjoyed it so much. One of their room types (junior chambre) wasn't offered through Venere & it was cheaper. Also, it wasn't clear on Venere that you had to pay for internet usage & I found out only when the booking actually went through. However, the stay here is wonderful overall.

The hotel was is a great location, just off the sea front, very handy for shops, bars, restaurants etc. Our room was very small and basic. The staff very extremely friendly, helpful and very knowledgable about such things as buses, places to go etc. Breakfast not worth the money, better cheaper breakfast could be had in one of the cafes, 1 minute walk away.

Fine modern clean hotel with friendly and helpful staff. Excellent value for price. I have checked off the number 5 in the questions I did not answer because I did not observe them. You should not force everybody to answer questions they may not be able to reply in an accurate manner.

Great location. I had an inner-courtyard room, which was very quiet and pleasant. The breakfast is overpriced for what you get. We had it once at the hotel, but went elsewhere after that. The location is amazing - right in the thick of everything! Couldn't have been better.

We found everything to be as advertised. I requested a quiet room on back side and upper floor. We were given one on lower floor and on a side alley which was extremely noisey during the night and morning. The location of the hotel is excellent but take earplugs if you expect to sleep. The staff could not be more helpful and the parking at a sister hotel was convenient and secure.

The only "problem" is: when you travell by car, there is no parking available in the hotel, and as Street Massena is only car "authorized" morning till 11 a.m. you have to carry the bagages from the next public parking "Massena" (price to add to the hotel's bill: 16 euros a day!). But you are in a slendid area, close to the "Old Nice" and 5 minutes walking to the tramway.

I am a senior in my late 70's lady traveling alone and have difficulty walking so this hotel was a joy to find. (later my brother and niece joined me for a couple of nights). The hotel caters to average income people. It is ideally situated on rue Massena the pedestrian area off Place Massena in the centre of Nice. Tram and market a short walk and promenade des Anglais, Albert Premier gardens only a short distance.Friendly, helpful multilingual staff, rooms clean and with ensuite bathrooms. This is a 2** hotel and a great find. Masses of places to eat on rue Massena patisseries serve excellent coffee and croisants for breakfast. I did not have breakfast in the hotel, which was not included. I will definitely RETURN!!!

Excellent location on a pedestrianized street with many restaurants and shops. Just a five minute walk to the beach and close to places of interest and public transit stops. Our room was newly renovated and the interior of the hotel is very nice. The front desk staff were very helpful.

Perfect location close to everything. Had room nr 309 against the pedestrian street but no noise. The best **-rated hotel we've ever seen in the center of a big city for this price. The breakfast though, traditional french/continental, is not enough for hungry ones but we got more baguette when we asked.

very good location near Promenade des Anglais and shopping area. Nearby restaurants rather mediocore and poor value. Do rcommend Pub de Halevy for a meal which is quite close.

All was even better than expected. I will stay here again. The slight surprise was that it is a walking street, so not accessible by taxi when I arrived.. Only had hand luggage so not a problem to walk from the nearest through street. Happily, the two mornings I needed an early taxi, the pedestrian effect hadn't yet gone into operation. It would be useful to clarify the hours you can drive to the door so that anyone who would not like to walk with their luggage on arrival would be forewarned.

Would like to have had breakfast included in price. Paid 70 euros for one night and breakfast was extra 6 euros which is quite expensive.

The Regence hotel is excellent value for money. The room was adequate, cleaned daily, very quiet, and the bed was comfortable. We didn't have breakfast as it was a bit limited in variety, but the location is the best in Nice, with plenty of restaurants within a few metres. Staff were really helpful and attentive, and overall it was a pleasant experience, and I would recommend it as a top 2 star budget hotel. I will stay there again!

this is an excellent budget hotel ideally situated in the pedestrian centre of Nice. We asked for and were given a quiet room at the rear of the hotel. The staff were pleasant and helpful and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Minor criticisms 1) Small Wardrobe space ( although this is common in mainland Europe ) 2) there were quite a few stains on many of the hotel carpets. New carpets would really freshen the place up. This hotelis ideal for couples and singles alike and is excellently situated for exploring Nice.

The location of the hotel puts you right in the heart of Nice. The restaurants, beach and local transportation can be easily reached. We stayed in room 512 and it was a very quiet spacious, very clean room with a view of a courtyard. I would not hesitate to book this hotel again.
