While on our trip our hotel room was being worked on. So the hallways to the entry of our room was all filled with construction. The room had awful carpets and was very tiny. The window had an amazing view though of the buildings and the sunset. The bed covers where in pretty rough shape and they had to give us to double beds instead of one queen. The bathrooms had just been re done so they were very clean and spacious. I barely saw any service there but because of the location (close to the station and the main center) the hotel added to our Nice experience!

This place is perfect if you are on a tight budget, and want a clean room. Close to everything. We found gentleman at the front desk to be extremely helpful and friendly. We do not speak very good French he was a great help to us, advising us on getting around and advising things like scooter hire and taxi. Also the Taxi that he arranaged to take us to the airport was fantastic!, we were running very late and he made sure we did not miss our flight, a saviour in the end. only made it to last check in by 2 minutes! The only fault we could mention is it was advertised as air conditioned, but the air conditioning was non existent, but we opened the windows instead. ;)

The hotel is clear but simple. Very good choise for people who don't want to invest to hotel nights too much but need a clean room with a good location. The hotel did not serve any cheese at the breakfast. Seven mornings only jam with the croissants...would need some alternatives. Also the breakfast would be complimentary.

Not elegant but comfortable and very centrally located hotel. A five minute walk from the main railway station and a ten minute walk to the old town and the shore. The hotel is surrounded by restaurants and shops. Our room was quite small but comfortable and clean. Breakfast cost an additional seven euros extra per person and was very basic. Overall, we found the staff to be helpful and friendly, and we would not hesitate to stay here again on a return trip.

I stayed in a single room for just one night. I needed something close to the station, but obviously I was not aware that Gare de Nice Ville and Gare routiere are two very different things, so the location turned to be not so convenient for my pourposes. But otherwise, it's near Gare de Nice ville, not far from the beach, and close to the center of Nice. However, the immediate surroundings are not too much pictoresque, with a great number of Chinese and other Ethnic restaurants and respectively foreigners from those countries as well. The room was rather greasy, and not very clean, but for the price of 62 Euros I could not find anything else near the station. The night staff was very helpful and nice, while the daytime staff for unknown reasons kept silent everytime I said "Hello" on my way back to the Hotel's tiny lobby. Overall, if you have a better option than Normandie, you better go for it...But if you're looking for a cheap place, somehow not far from the sea and the center, probably Normandie wouldn't disappoint you too much.

This was our 5th stay in the same hotel. The hotel is very good for some day, for sleep in there. On the streets, there are many shops and bars. You can have your breakfast in the bar on the corner ( rue d'Alsace Loraine and rue d'Angleterre), opposite of the Police Departement. The tables are like newspaper. If you come from the hotel you have to turn right and after 20 meters there is this very nice bar. You must see the 2 beautiful villages EZE-sur-Mer and Beaulieu-sur-Mer. In Cannes the Downtown is very nice, in the morning there is a big market. If you go in the downtown from the bus station after 25 meters you will see a little bar. (On 1st corner of rue Saint-Antonie). The are the sadwiches very big and very GOOD!

At the same price (110 euro) I found a wonderful quadruple room in a graet residence in Aix-en-Provence. I think that 110 euro for a quadruple room in a Hotel like Normandie Hotel is too much. But the problem is that Nice IS NOT CHEAP (and not so beautiful as other places in Provence and Cote Azur). Normandie Hotel is maybe THE CHEAPEST HOTEL IN NICE!

This hotel was within a very easy walk from the train station, the tourist information, area attractions and local buses. We were happy with the property. Decent hotel. Rooms are clean. Staff are firendly and helpful. Parking is non existent -- space only for three small cars. We had to park in the train station garage. Access by car is also tricky - many one way streets. Wish there was an elevator at the hotel. The nighborhood has many restaurants and close to most places. This is a good place to stay if you need access to the train station, as its only a short walk away. I found the area to be quiet and the staff friendly and helpful. The room is fine and in fact, is bigger than what I had expected, and the a/c actually works, which comes as a surprise as many of the a/c in the hotels I have been in Europe don't. The only problems are the bathroom and the lift. The curtains are too short and the bathroom is a mess after showers. Also, the lift was out of order when we were there for the entire 3 days and I have a feeling that it's been like that for a long time.

In short, I would recommend to anyone to try alternative accomodation, closer to the beach area. This hotel has tiny rooms, which are poorly decorated and in an area which is not too eye-pleasing. It is convenient to the train station - which is probably the only positive. One staff member was very pleasant, where the other (male) had absolutely no clue! And avoid the breakfast, unless you enjoy stale bread rolls. I recommend to anyone who travels to Nice to stay within short distance of the beach (and by that I mean 1 or 2 blocks). Everything past that is dirty and poorly maintained - almost like a ghetto. I would take my chances elsewhere than stay at the Normandie again.

Hotel Normandie had great staff, and Tinger to greet us when we checked in. We were a little disappointed with our room as it was quite small for the two of us to move around in. We had noticed as we walked out one morning that other rooms on our floor were a lot bigger, but we were never given the option of which type of room we would like. The area is close to shopping and very close to the train station, which made it easy for us to get to and from with our packs. The hotel has air conditioning though which was a great escape from the heat. The breakfast, for 6 euros, was not a great deal, I would reccommend going to a cafe for less. However, the friendly staff, Tinger, and the air conditioning did win points with us.

I spent five nights at the Normandie and on the whole it was a good experience. I was a little disappointed with the overall standard of the room when I actually saw it, in comparison to what it looked like in the photographs. Not quite as modern as I anticipated! Towels were a little frayed and old! But the bathroom was cleaned daily and change of towels, which was good. The staff were very helpful. Breakfast good value for 6 euros. Did not realise there was a few euros added in tax for each nights stay. Would have been good to have been told about this in the overall prices - always hidden extras!

The Hotel Normandie is located about 2 minutes walk from the central train station. Rooms are nothing special, but very clean and a good value. The staff was very friendly and helpful. It takes 15 minutes to walk to the beach from the hotel, and about 10 minutes walk to the main nightlife/restaurant area of Nice. Overall, I was very satisfied with our stay here. I like the fact that we didn't have to cart our luggage very far, since it's only a few steps away from the airport bus dropoff point (and train station). The website held out the prospect of a really good recently refurbished hotel with a family atmosphere and congenial environment, in spite of the very reasonable rates. Well, the welcome was very nice and warm, as was the service throughout (desk, breakfast, rooms), but the hotel was rather smelly and our room was cramped and shabby with a tiny DIY-style shower room and a similar style of storage for our clothes.. Everything was reasonably clean, however and as we were staying for only three nights the Normandie was adequate.

A good reasonable size room for 4. Fairly quiet, but still near the centre of things. Service and quality of breakfast, showers etc. were of a minimal standard, but were at least acceptable. A reasonably fair budget hotel. There is the need to also add at least a third of the price extra if you wish to park the car. Street parking is very difficult and the hotel has a park, but at a cost.

A very clean, basic hotel with pleasant staff. Be careful dropping things on bathroom floors as manoeuvreability is difficult. One downside is that the walls are paper thin and you can hear sounds from all over the hotel, although surprisingly nothing from outside. That aside if you want a modestly-priced, well-located hotel in Nice then you can't go too far wrong with this hotel. There is also limited car parking, at a price, which involves a very complex system but worthwhile given the nightmare of parking in Nice.

Rooms have good air-conditioning but noise from rooms was annoying. Very good value restuarant next door to Hotel (Petit Biche)

muy pequeña la habitacion en relacion al precio. La presentación en la pagina de internet de la fachada del hotel no es la misma. Al ver la foto da la impresion de que el hotel estuviera muy cerca de la playa y la realidad es otra.

The room is clean and spacious. We stay in a triple room still there is room to move about. Is walking distance to the station and laundry, surrounding area has variety of Asian cuisine to choose from and is reasonably priced. What impress us the most was the air conditioning in the hotel. If you’re traveling in spring or summer don’t book anything without an air conditioning.

Good, clean hotel 8 blocks (20 minutes) from the beach at Nice. Room was good size and perfectly reasonable. Staff very helpful. Breakfast overpriced (5.5 euros on top of room costs) but it is optional and there are plenty of local patisserie. Hotel is soundproofed from outside noise but internally can be noisy especially if school groups are running around till 3am (as occurred during our stay). Would stay again.

Our room was clean and warm and regularly serviced. The breakfast was excellent value. The staff were friendly and very helpful. The location was excellent and very handy for the SNCF and the airport link bus. We both agreed that we would be quite happy to stay here again if we return to Nice. The booking system was simple and I would be pleased to use it to book hotels in other cities

Located nice and close to the station - so ideal for ovrnights between trains. Not the nicest area in Nice - but the street felt safe and the hotel was welcoming and secure. Rooms basic and small, but clean and quiet.

Helpful staff. Pleasant room, good value breakfast. Noisy in morning when coach party woke at 6am. Some distance from elegant centre of Nice, but good value for money.
