This was a great hotel in a great location. I would definately stay at this hotel again. The only downside is the directions to get to the hotel. The bus to take from the airport did not take us to where we wanted to go. It ended up taking us 2 hours to get from the airport to the hotel because of the incorrect bus and the fact that it was a France holiday. A much more detailed description of how to get to the hotel needs to be on their website.

Price kept being reduced after I booked, so I eventually got a very good deal. What they refer to as a suite is a room with a little sitting area. There were no real public areas. Location is superb. All in all, this was a good deal. Room decor may not be to everyone's taste, but it was something different

We booked just two days before arriving. Very nice accommodations and in a perfect location very close to Place Massena. We were moving place to place and I really enjoyed this newly renovated small hotel and room. I would definitely recommend it if one is not interested in conceriege service, in hotel restaurants, etc.

Great location; good friendly and responsive personnel. Showers in both of our rooms were in adaquate. Our shower had vct on side and front of shower pan which was slippery. Our traveling friends had a shower that was about 24"x24" with an opening of about 20 inches. In reserving room ask for large shower. We enjoyed our stay and close proximately to train and bus depots. Very quite.

The hotel is lovely for a short break. The public area is very small, but the staff are very friendly and make a good effort. The decoration is unusual but fun. The rooms are a bit tired and could do with a refurb to be the same standard as the reception/ breakfast room. It is a good location to visit Nice.

Our room nr. 206 to the backyard was small, had a strange smell and the last renovation was years ago. The rate of €148 was way to much, €50 would have been appropiate. The front desk clerk wasn't really surprised when we checked out half an hour later. We then found a cheaper, cleaner and more modern hotel.

The hotel and the room were very nice. The location was great - very close to the sea and the Promenade des Anglais. The only downside to the location was the noise. Mopeds everywhere!! There was a moped parking lot across the street from the hotel, so it was very noisy all through the night. The other downside to the hotel was the shower - it was tiny!! I'm a very petite person, and I had trouble fitting in the shower space. Otherwise, the hotel was great and the staff was very friendly.

I thought this hotel was gorgeous and well appointed. However, I was bumped to a more delux room so I don't know how I would feel about this hotel had I been in the room I was originally assigned. The location in Nice was phenomenal. The hotel is right near the beach, about a block off it, near the main shopping distrit, and a short walk to Old Town. I loved the spaciousness of my room and thought it was very chic. I did pay a lot of money, it is definitely not the place for those on a tight budget, but I was glad that I did and had a very relaxing time in Nice.

Hotel Meurice is a beautiful small comfortable Hotel in a great location. Our room was very nice with a view over the street that was quiet at night. The Hotel is in a great location. Das Hotel le Meurice liegt absolut zentral in der Fußgängerzone, nur wenige Schritte vom Strand und der Promenade des Anglais entfernt. Der Bus vom Flughafen hält ebenfalls in unmittelbarer Nähe. I stayed at the hotel in November 2007 with a friend of mine. I booked the this hotel based on the guest reviews and general rating and did not get disappointed. As a ***star hotel in Paris it was worth its room rate. The service given by the reception staff was excellent. A lady particularly, who was in duty most of the time was very friendly and helpful doing her best to make our visit in Nice enjoyable in spite of the rain, which destroyed our plan to play golf for 3 days. Good location as well.

This was a great disappointment. the room booked was uninhabitable. took a different room at an outrageous price for the quality. the facility has no public rooms, no internet, the facilities are in places threadbare, the linens dirty and they have an antiquated lighting system in the halls reminiscent of a 1950's British tenement house

WE STAYED IN LUCRECE ROOM FOR A 3 NGHT VISIT TO SEE NICE AND MONACO. THIS HOTEL IS ABSOLUTELY BRILLIANT AND WE CAN RECOMMEND IT TO ANYONE WANTING GREAT VALUE, QUALITY, AND ESPECIALLY LOCATION. THE VIEW IS SIMPLY THE WINDOWS ON THE OTHER SIDE OF THE SREET BUT THAT'S NOT A CRITICISM. YOU CANT HAVE EVERYTHING! FOR THE MILD HUBBUB OF LOCAL NIGHT LIFE CLOSE THE DOUBLE GLAZING. FOR SHUTTING OUT THE LIGHT, USE THE 'BLACKOUT' CURTAINS. FOR A GOOD NIGHT THE KING SIZE BED IS PERFECT. BATHROOM IS SUPERB. HARD TO IMAGINE GETTING THIS PRICE FOR THIS QUALITY NEARER THE SEAFRONT. ITS ABOUT 3 MINUTES WALK FROM THE SEAFRONT, LITERALLY JUST ROUND THE CORNER. IF WE WERE TO REVISIT NICE WE WOULD DEFINITELY STAY HERE AGAIN. MANY THANKS TO ALL THE STAFF.

The Hotel Meurice is located in a very good spot-very close to restaurants, old town & Promanade. It is NOT Close to the train station-25minute walk with luggage, regardless of what staff says. Our suites were very large and mostly looked like pictures, but tiles are broken in bathroom and some repairs will be needed soon. DO NOT HAVE BREAKFAST HERE!!! AWFUL. Great food available very close by for less money. Staff was businesslike and efficient but not as friendly as our other hotels. Overall, Le Meurice is good, but we would stay in Cannes the whole time the next time.

This hotel is the perfect choice for the traveller with budget in mind, but who desires the best in location. It is located right where you want to be, a two block walk from the Promenade, a 5 minute walk from the Old Town, with the flower market, chateau and reems of cafes and shops. A pedestrian only area with other shops and cafes is located on the street immediately behind the hotel. We did not take breakfast in the hotel, so cannot comment on it, but there are scads of cafes right outside the door so it wasn't hard to find food. There is a bus stop 200 meters from the hotel for those who prefer to spend 4 euros on the 15 minute bus trip to the airport rather than the 37 euros we paid for a taxi from the airport to the hotel....(I assume the cost would be the same in reverse) The hotel itself is clean, the staff were more than helpful and friendly. All in all, I would recommend this hotel to anyone who wants convenience without the otherwise ridiculous price tag of the Riviera.

We stayed at the Meurice a total of 3 nights. When we first arrived we actually liked the hotel since the location was really good and convenient to things in Nice. But then the trouble began, first with the attitude of the reception desk staff and then with the total lack of guidance and help with basic necessities. The bed that I ended up sleeping in had smelly sheets that were not fresh, but I tried to bear it and just didn't say a word, my mistake. The real surprises actually started to arrive when we came back on the first day and realized that no one visited and took care of our room. After we had to wait quite a while for fresh towels we just decided to live with it. The second day we came back and again our room wasn't made up, no fresh towels, the sheets still smelled, etc. When we informed the front desk about this they said that someone will be coming to clean the room in a few minutes, which they did. It was now 2:45 pm and we both just wanted to shower and clean up. When we asked the manager about our trouble she said that she was sorry, but since the cleaning staff had 30 rooms to clean, they just didn't reach our room by this time (they only had 23 rooms in total, not all of which were booked). The manager then proceeded to say "sorry" and run out of the door with her date and just leave us hanging. Bottom line, both my wife and I would rather have stayed at a youth hostel or any other hotel in the area and neither one of us actually has a good thing to say about this hotel. I would AVOID IT AT ANY COST. We actually walked down the boardwalk and found a much nicer hotel in a much better location for the same exact price per night, so I would search some more in Nice for a better place.

My bed was very short, I'm only 1m79cm, and I found the bed too short (I had to sleep diagonally). The breakfast was not worth the 9€, there is no buffet, and it's impossible to get what you want. For instance, when I asked for fruit yoghurt instead of natural (unflavoured) yoghurt, they said that was impossible. Likewise when I asked if they had cereals. I'd recommend guests to use the nearby bakery stores or supermarkets, which have an excellent selection of fruit, dairy products and bread. Cheaper and better.

Pay attention to the type of room available. We stayed in the Elegence Room located on a corner and it was great during the first stay. Upon returning we were given an Elegence room also, but it was MUCH different - very small, smoke laden and noisy with traffic - it was a center room. You are better off making sure that you get a room on the corner (numbers ending in 1). Other than that, we really liked it and would stay there again. Great location, great price.

It was a small but a very clean and welcoming hotel. Eventhogh I checked in at 8 AM, they provided a room for me with a very welcoming gesture. A lovely hotel, in the heart of Nice, footsteps away from the old town and yet very quiet (our room overlooked the street). The hotel is also only a minute or two from the Promenade des Anglais/Casino. The staff were very helpful. The room was spotless and comfortable and the decor atmospheric and amusing - (we stayed in the Salambo Suite - all faux leopard skin!) A superb base from which to explore Nice. Breakfast is extra, but not unreasonable @ 9euro, and is served in your room. Consists of pain au chocolat, croissant, bread roll and doughnut (for each person) with preserves and yoghurt. Fruit juice and your choice of tea, coffee or hot chocolate are served with breakfast. However, there are a multitude of cafes and restaurants nearby providing a wide range of fare (including the full English breakfast if your arteries are flowing too freely). We plan to return to nice and hope to stay at the Hotel Meurice again.

It was a surprisingly nice stay at Meurice. The room faced the courtyard and was very quiet. It was spacious with a big shower cabin and working air conditioner. The TV was small and selection of channels was poor, but I did not come to Nice to watch TV. Location was superb - 200 meters from the beach, 50 meters from the main shopping area. The breakfast was expensive, but there were plenty of restaurants around the corner where I could eat at a half of the price. I will stay there again.

This was my first visit to this hotel and the location is wonderful - close to shopping, the beach and Old Town (Vieux Nice - Cours Saleya). I stayed in a Harmonie Double which is one of the more spacious room options. It was spacious enough but not much room for anything other than the 2 beds, desk and 2 chairs. It was very clean and cutely decorated. The bathroom was gleaming and seemed brand new. They offered a nice continental breakfast (though a bit pricey). I was completely satisfied with my stay. If you are looking for a comfortable place to stay this is it. The woman who I think is the owner was very kind and helpful, other staff were pleasant. If you are looking for tons of amenities and a glamourous room, this is probably not the place for you.

Would definitely stay there again. Only disadvantage : as far as the public areas are concerned, there aren't any, except for reception with a very small lounge. Not even toilets are available outside the rooms, which is annoying when you come to pick up your luggage to go to the airport.......

The hotel was obviously run down with poor access to air-conditioning even though it was quoted as being air-conditioned. I needed to ask the clerk to turn it on any time I wanted it. The bathrooms seemed clean but only on the surface.

We found this hotel very central location wise and we enjoyed our stay very much. We could walk to the beach and the pedestrian shopping was right around the corner. We found overall the prices in Nice quite expensive and it would have been nice to have had breakfast included in the price of the room.

Good clean hotel in Nice. Situated perfectly between the ocean and the restaurants and shops. The reception is small and does not give you the impression of a nice hotel, but do not be fooled. It is in fact a very nice hotel. Save your money for breakfast and either bye it in a shop or at a café - 11 euro's for the breakfast provided at the hotel is too expensive!

Looked a bit shabby from the outside so we were a bit dubious. Reception area is where breakfast is served so we didn't fancy that. Otherwise very convenient for centre, promenade, old town and restaurant/cafes/shops etc. would stay again.

Great location. Walk to beach, walk to old town and flower market. No problem extending my stay. Gave me Venere rate for the night I had originally reserved, even though they put me in a larger room for the entire stay. Highly recommend.

Booking with Venere was easy and efficient. I would recommend and use Venere again, and recommend it to others. However, when I arrived my room was much smaller than I anticipated ( the Cleopatra Room). Please note that I have stayed at this hotel several times, so I am familiar with the different rooms that are available. I would've have gladly paid extra to upgrade to a larger room. When I arrived, I asked for a larger room and was told that the hotel was full, yet for 5 days I noticed doors were left open on rooms that were noticeably vacant on my floor. The last time I stayed at Meurice I walked in without reservations and was given a beautiful room. Great 'Boutique' Hotel. Staff was terrific. I love it there, and the Cleopatra Room was cute, but I certainly would've liked something bigger.

I've stayed at the Meurice on several occasions and always found it to be a charmng, unassuming hotel. It's ideally based and will always try to get the Meurice when I stay in Nice.

We stayed in the hotel for only 2 nights. We arrived at 9 am and our room was immediately available which was very pleasant. The location of the hotel is exellent. Very near the Boulevard d'Anglais and the Rue Macena (very nice shopping area). Crossing a nearby park takes you directly to the old city. We asked for a wake up call at 9 am the first morning but woke up at 10.15 am never having heard an alarm call or whatever. The second morning we asked friends to give us a wake up call in order not to miss our plane. The room was old fashened and small but not too small compared to French standards. The bathroom was modern but also small. We had a room on the first floor and leaving the windows open wakes you up at around 3 in the morning due to cleaning activities on the street. So you have to use the airco and keep the windows closed at night. We did not take breakfast in the hotel. Summerising: it is a reasonable hotel but we had a very good time in Nice due to the exellent location

The Maurice is a cute hotel conveniently located near the beach and local restaurants. There are many bistros and restaurants around the corner. The room was spacious and comfortable, and included a minibar refrigerator which was useful. The hotel staff were helpful and courteous. Breakfast was reasonably priced. The Maurice was a good value.

Location slightly different from map - into side street. According to reception, the early departure of one person (1 day earlier for a 1-week-2-person booking!) from a shared bedroom annoyingly couldn't be accounted for, because of the venere.com internet booking. Photographs give a proper idea of the location.

Very lovely hotel with clean, comfortable and beautiful rooms near the sea and the centre - therefore with a little road noise but did not bother me very much. The staff is very charming and helpfully. I have just recommended the Meurice to my family and friends and would definitively stay there again.

Excellent value for money. Excellent position for sea front, gardens, shops, cafes, transport. Staff were very friendly, always willing to help and with good English. Local streets tended to be noisy during the night. We would be more than happy to return to the same hotel.

The hotel is well located and the room spacious by French hotel standards, but it probably is not worth paying the extra price for the larger room. There were many larger hotels nearby, e.g. a Marcure, with cheaper prices for standard rooms. The heating did not work properly the first night and we were quite cool. I should have called the night clerk who could have arranged to have it fixed or provided supplementary heating, both of which were done the next day. For some reason or other, our credit card did not work at the Meurice (was rejected by the hotel's credit card reader) even thoughit worked at all other hotels and restaurants we used it before and after and was found to be O.K. with plenty of cash reserce when I checked with my credit card company after I got home. To pay I had to cash travellers checks, which left our travellers checks and cash reserve a bit tight for the rest of our trip. The room was nicely decorated, but soom design failures impaired its utility. One was having the bathroom door open toward the toilet bowl and placing the door stop close to the toilet bowl where one could readily stub ones toe when one went to the the toilet. If the door had been hung from the opposite side, it would have opened towards a blnak wall and created no problems. Another problem was placing a bulky toilet paper holder where it would hit your head unless you bent it to the side when you sat on the toilet bowl. Otherwise it was a nice, comfortable, well serviced room. Nevertheless I would elect to stay at another hotel if I visit Nice again.

An unusual hotel in terms of decor but very attractive - though a little gloomy for any more than a couple of days . No restaurant . Only continental breakfast available ( good ) which could be taken in room or small lobby area .Convenient location for amenities but noisy early morning with rubbish clearance and late at night from nearby restaurants etc.Would recommend with above qualifications .
