The only thing I could criticize Is the failure of the housekeeping service to pull out the next Kleenex tissue to indicate the box was still full rather than appear empty. That's how good everything else was. We had a fantastic time in Villefrance and this hotel contributed to that experience. The room was basic, but was what was expected. The breakfast staff was very friendly and made for entertaining breakfast times. The location is close to the train station and had free parking just steps away from the hotel. A great starting point for trips to Cannes or Monaco. Great views from the balcony. We will certainly return to Le Provençal.

Nice little place in a beautiful little seaside town. Everything the web site says is actually there. The lift is microscopic, but it is much better than NO lift. Reasonable walk down to the warf (quay). Somewhat less reasonable on the way back up, but OK.

Excellent location, in old town, close to TI, with access to bus that services Nice to Monocco. Very good full breakfast. The price of breakfast was Euro 10, not Euro 8, as specified in the confirmation and the hotel would not honor the confirmation. Parking was NOT available from the hotel. The whole hotel is run down and needs a major renovation. The bathrooms smelled of mould. Internet was Euro 4.50/hr. Free internet was available in several places close by.

It's a cheap hotel situated in a great spot. The hotel could have a great potential but the bad hotel management keeps it in a poor state. Some renovations are taken place, but with a low standart of finition and it's a pity!

A great spot for our jet-lagged one night stay. Easy to park (for free) a couple blocks away; easy to walk to the Citadel, old town, and around the village; very nice bathroom had tub/shower/bidet; pretty quiet, except for unavoidable church bells. Not a fancy room, but just fine. Beds a little on the soft side, but no big deal. The small elevator was welcome when we first arrived and left with baggage.

We have spent 14 days in this very nice hotel with very skilled staff (Michelle is always working and smiling and always ready to help. Thank you). Absolutely will return again. Fantastic views, good breakfast, espacious room, clean, well managed, quiet, close to buses, laundry shop. All what is desirable for holidays.

My husband and I booked a room here with much trepidation after reading mixed reviews from other guests on venere.com. The room was not super clean (some hair on the bathroom floor) and was a bit worn down. However, the location was great (quiet) and the views were fantastic! We did not eat breakfast at the hotel so can't comment on that. No parking is available at the hotel -- only on-street parking. This was the only hotel we stayed at on our 10-day visit to Southern France that we felt was really over priced based on the quality of the room. You pay for location, location, location. We would stay here again.

This was our first visit to Villefranche-sur-Mer, which is a lovely town, quieter, we hear, than other Cote d'Azur places. The hotel was very nice. We had a fourth floor (3ieme etage) room with an incredible view of the ocean and cape, and a great breeze. Air conditioned when needed, and it ran quietly.

A very nice hotel almost on top of the little village, short valking distance to shops, restaurants, beach and public transport. A fantastic wiew of the harbour. Very nice and professional hotel staff, serving the richest breakfast we have experienced in France. Surpringly low hotel rating (2 stars) compared to hotel facilities and service provided. The hotel have our warmest recommendations

My husband and I stayed at Hotel Le Provencal for 3 nights at the beginning of May as part of our 15 year anniversary trip. We loved this charming hotel which sits above the port in beautiful Villefranche-sur-Mer. We had a corner room with 2 windows overlooking the town and the port. The hotel isn't fancy, but for the price and location it's fabulous. The front desk staff was very helpful as well, especially one young man who works the night shift and speaks fluent English. The hotel is located a couple blocks from the Tourist information office and the bus line. It is very easy to take the bus anywhere for 1 euro (Nice, Monaco, Cap Ferrat, etc). It is also a fairly easy walk through the charming narrow streets down to the port, and from there on to the train station and the beach. When arriving from the train station with luggage it's not quite as easy, because it's all up hill. I would recommend arriving by bus if possible. All in all, we would highly recommend a visit to this quaint little seaside town (one of our favorites) and a stay at Hotel Le Provencal.

The stay was wonderful at Villefrance sur Mer and in the Hotel Provencal. I had read the conflicting reviews prior to our stay and was a little concerned. However, we opted to stay anyway primarily because of the location and price. I am very glad that we made this decision. We were more than pleased with the accomodation and the helpful staff. We did not experience any of the negative things mentioned in some of the reviews. We found the Hotel Provencal to be much better than we expected. The location was great, too, within walking distance of many cafes and the lovely harbor. We ate at a great local restaurant-Le Roxy. If we have the opportunity to return to Villefranche sur Mer, we would definitely stay at the Hotel Provencal.

As we approached La Provencal Hotel I was slightly put off by the appearance of the exterior but this was soon forgotten when we were shown our room on the third floor. I had asked for a sea view and when we opened the shutters it was breathtaking. The view looked out towards Cap Ferrat and took in the town and the bay also. (On Sunday night we were treated to an almost personal firework display on the shore directly opposite our balcony). We were also very impressed with the buffet breakfast which was taken on a lovely terrace, shaded with tropical plants and flowers. Although slightly shabby in some areas I highly recommend this hotel for its excellent budget priced accomodation.
