A lovely 3 star hotel with character and style. Friendly, helpful staff; quiet rooms and a terrific view. If you're fit, you'll love the location in a beautiful residential neighborhood. It's a short, pleasant walk to the heart of Nice. If you are sedentary and don't like to walk, this isn't the place for you. Book an ocean view room, it's worth the extra. Lovely outdoor terrace for breakfast and drinks.

This is a gem of a hotel tucked away in the upmarket area of Cimiez in Nice. However it is easily accessed by taking a No 15 or 22 bus from the centre and going to Musee Chagall, from where it is a 10 minute walk. The staff are welcoming, helpful and friendly. It is worth paying the extra for the rooms with a stunning view over Nice and the sea. Can thoroughly recommend this hotel.

On arrival shown to a very small cramped room with no storage space for clothes ,coats toiletries. We were moved to a better room next day but still lacking shelf & storage space .Very poor for price.Very poor access up a long steep hill.On preparing to pay account, the credit card machine failed to work. The hotel owner was unhelpful, laughed ,& said I should go into town ,late at night & find a bank ..

Another great find from Venere. The location was a bit awkward, up a narrow winding hill from the old town, and parking a matter of luck, but the view (we paid for a seaview room) was spectacular. We didn't take breakfast: it seemed an overpriced extra, as is often the case in France. The gentleman at the desk was enormously helpful, e.g. with flight confirmations on his computer. There was a free International Herald Tribune and other nice touches.

My wife and I visit Nice annually, in July. We have stayed at a number of hotels and this is the nicest yet. Everything at this hotel was more than perfect for our needs. I would highly recommend the hotel, providing this does not encourage too many people to book before I do next time!

Outstanding hotel for anyone going to the Acropolis convention centre, but be warned, the climb to the hotel from Rue Carabacel is very steep. This hotel is probably also not disabled-friendly. Only real negative interaction occurred with one night staff who scowled and was otherwise unpleasant upon coming home after 1am. But the rest of the staff were amazing and this hotel is great value during the off-season!!

Hotel is in a lovely quiet area of Nice. Up a hill but only 5 mins walk. Advise getting taxi to find first time but ok after that. Taxi from hotel to Nice airport 30euro (Oct 2008). Would stay here again.

The hotel is well situated if you want a quiet location away from the main town. It is up a steep hill, and not easy to find if you are walking, but the views across the city are good. The staff were very helpful and friendly. The room was adequate, although we found that the curtains did not pull completely across the windows and therefore allowed a lot of light into the room. Also the shower curtain pole in our room was too small and kept falling off! Breakfast was as you would expect on the continent, and offered a good selection of fruit, bread, yoghurts, etc. There is a lovely terrace to eat on but this is populated by quite a few pigeons which do perch on the tables and chairs and is therefore off-putting and unhygienic. All in all, a good value for money hotel well away from the hustle and bustle of Nice.

Beautiful, quiet place. Tough walk up the hill, but a good chance to walk off some of the wonderful food in Nice! I do not know when we will be back in Nice again, but we would definitely stay in Le Petit Palais again.

We found it an outstandingly beautiful charming little hotel with a helpful friendly welcoming staff, a gorgeous view over Nice (refers, of course, to the rooms with sea-view), very pretty rooms, quiet and harmonous. It was just a bit difficult to find the first time. If we are in Nice again, we would love to stay in the same hotel again!

The welcome was less than enthusiastic - we felt we were a bit 'patronised' by the lady on the desk, although all other staff were pleasant. We had a garden room which was a bit on the small side, but it was nice to have the privacy of a small patio to sit on in the evenings. The hotel is about 15 minutes from the centre of Nice, but it is all uphill and a long slog in the heat - it would have been useful if it had said this in the blurb. In terms of being outside of Nice centre, we were very pleased with it as it was quiet, the communal gardens were also lovely and the room service on our first evening's arrival was excellent.

Very nice little hotel on a hill overlooking Nice close to Acropolis exhibition centre. Beautiful views from the room. Very quiet and cosy. Highly recommended. Very close to historical centre which is convenient, but you have to go up a hill which is a minus. Not a problem if you drive or take a taxi.
