On arrival Anaise at the reception was very rude. She treated us in a very degrading manner and at some point even asked us if we understood English! It kind of ruined the whole hotel experience even before we had entered our room. When she gave us the key she actually gave us the wrong floor for our room. All the other staff were good though. In the room there was a wrong remote for the Tv. I would classify this hotel as a 2 star.

We were in Le Grimaldi only a week ago and had a pleasant stay. Good location and there is a decent restaurant nearby called "Le Grimaldi restaurant." It was quiet, the double room is actually two beds pushed together, and pillows were OK. We certainly enjoy our stay and loved Nice.

Overall we felt the hotel offered excellent value. The staff were excellent and the location is very good. We wanted a hotel that was both quiet and easy walking distance to the attractive areas of Nice and this hotel offered that. The room, superior double, was much bigger than is often found in Europe. The only minor glitches were; the lift is very small and there was some mildew on the glass partition in the bath tub. Overall we were very happy with the service and the hotel.

This was our 5th stay at Le Gremaldi and we stayed only one night before going on to a rented flat. Location is great and most staff members are friendly and helpful. Price seems to be getting a bit high for the rooms and services provided.

About the same price as the holiday inn across the road but perhaps more authentic. 5 min walk to main tourist/restaurant street. 10-15 min walk from train station. very clean and comfortable rooms -- slept unusually well there.

Beautiful hotel in the heart of Nice - 10 min. walking from the Old town, 5 min. from Promenade des Anglais and the beach, restaurants, shops, banks etc. Room was quiet, stylish and elegant, bathroom was spacious with two washbasins. Staff was very friendly, helpful and had fluent English. The only drawback: breakfast was not too rich and a bit expensive. All in all we were very satisfied and we would definitely return to Le Grimaldi!

The hotel is a 3 minute walk to the seaside boulevard and offers good sized rooms. It is opposite an old church and is fairly quiet at night.

The Grimaldi is superbly located in Nice Nord's central area, close to the old city, shopping and the Med. The breakfast was pricey and mediocre so we ate elsewhere. The staff was friendly and helpful. The only knock is that the rooms are a bit worn and the whole place could use some freshening up. All in all, though, a good value.

We switched to this hotel in a bit of a rush after realising that the Villa Saint-Exupéry was rather more of a dive than the smart YHA hostels we'd been used to in Victoria. Having arrived at Le Grimaldi, we were surprised there were any rooms available at such short notice. The hotel is in an excellent location, being only 10-15 mins walk from Nice SNCF and the sea, and 20 to the Cours Saleya and the Vieille Ville, and was a good combination of simple and smart that should satisfy most travellers. The staff were helpful, looking after our suitcases from early in the morning of arrival. The rooms was spotless, tastefully decorated, and very quiet. The air conditioning worked (it's amazing how often we've stayed in hotel rooms in hot places where the unit was broken), and the bed was supremely comfortable. The bathroom was cleanly tiled in travertine with a very good shower and L'Occitane en Provence toiletries - what more can you ask? We had two minor quibbles, which I mention for the sake of completeness. Firstly, the room smelt strongly of cigarette smoke. Apparently they don't offer non-smoking rooms, which surprises me, since most people don't smoke and that it's cheaper to insure premises which don't allow smoking. The reason given by the concierge was that they can't control what guests do in their rooms, which in a way is reassuring ;-) and they have a "special spray" which partly neutralised the smell. The other minor quibble is that the Wi-Fi access advertised on Venere was apparently access to an Orange.fr hotspot, and certainly not free. In this day and age, I can't see that it costs much to provide free Wi-Fi access in a hotel, and it's very helpful for planning activities in a city. As I said, minor quibbles. Overall we thought Le Grimaldi was excellent for the price and happily recommend it as a base for exploring Nice, or for trips along the coast by train.

We stayed in a Classic double in the main building on May 18, 2008. We arrived early in the am, the staff worked hard to get the room ready ASAP. The room was large, comfortable, quiet, and spotless. The location is excellent. The hotel deserves the Michelin red rating, highly recommended. Avery

A lovely quiet and atmospheric hotel. Rooms tasteful and individually decorated. Staff very helpful - we were given an upgrade - without asking and the room was first-class. Bathroom exceptional - lovely big bath, loads of expensive toiletries - and also a walk-in shower. Would highly recommend this hotel.

My daughter and I stayed at the Grimaldi during our recent visit to Nice. The hotel and its staff did not disappoint at all, in fact my expectations were pleasantly exceeded! The hotel is lovely. Our room was beautifully decorated, spacious and very clean. Each staff member was courteous, knowledgeable and eager to please. The location of the hotel was great, a few minutes walk to the Promenade des Anglais and nestled next to a quiet and charming residential area. I highly recommend this hotel and I look forward to having the pleasure of staying there again.

We stayed in Le Grimaldi from March 1 to 4, 2008. It's a very nice, small, comfortable hotel situated in walking distance from Promenade des Anglais and the pedestrianised area of Nice. Our (superior) room on 6th floor was roomy with a good bathroom. The English-speaking staff were friendly, welcoming and very helpful with local advice etc. Only downside was overpriced breakfast in cramped area: take a short walk for lots of better places nearby at half the price. But we would certainly stay here again.

We had never been to Nice before. The hotel was easy to find. Our room was out of this world, absolutly stunning. Really big with a HUGE bathroom. All L'occitane products in the bathroom... which really impressed me. (he wouldn't notice these things).

It was the perfect setting and the staff were very nice, but the room (which wasn't a basic room) was noticeably small. We spent another night at the Nouvel Hotel literally five steps around the corner for half the price and found it much better value.

We arrived early at 8am from our flight and our room was ready for us. The staff was friendly and accomodating. The hotel is situated close to the beach and with in a short walk to the train station. There is a free computer. The room was nice and clean and located on Rue Massena facing the church and it was quiet through the evening. It is also close to the pedestrian area and the market. We thoroughly enjoyed ourselves here. Will stay here again.

A charming hotel centrally located, but still quiet. Clean and elegant, and next to an eccentric but great restaurant. Hotel staff were particularly hard-working in locating a dentist to sort out a small dental 'urgence' on a Bank Holiday. Strongly recommended for a peaceful stay in a handy location.

Very helpful and charming staff, lovely room, the only drawback was lack of sound proofing from neighbouring roooms. The breakfast buffet, not included, was good but twice the price of cafes in the area, which is usual. It is a great location for shopping and services. This was our second stay there.

We were actually quite disappointed with our stay at the Grimaldi. On a positive note the Hotel is in a great location approx 10 minutes walk from the train station and approx 5 minutes walk from the beach. The rooms were quite spacious and very clean. The staff were reasonably friendly and efficient. However it has to be said that this is basically a 3 star hotel masquerading as a 4 star. We paid for a superior room and were charged €190 per night. This amount did not include breakfast which was an additional €15 per person. To add insult to injury the room didn't have any tea or coffee making facilities which was a major disappointment. The facilities in the remainder of the hotel were virtually non existent. The reception area doubled as the breakfast room and the bar was also contained within the same small area. Overall we have to say that although the hotel is well located and very clean it unfortunately does not justify it's 4 star rating or the exorbitant prices it charges.

This is a charming and well located hotel. It is near the Blvd. des Anglais and the vielle ville. The breakfast is an especially good value. The rooms are in need of a little sprucing up. The blanket looked old and the mattress sagged a little. However, the bathroom was quite nice and had two sinks which was convenient for a couple.

A nice efficient hotel. Beds are not so great though. Breakfast at 15 euros was very overpriced - just walk out the door and go to any local place. Internet: the hotel is one of those poor chains that have signed up for with SFR - 8 euros for 60 minutes for wireless access through a hotspot - wifi.sfr.fr. Truly, broadband access to French consumers is comparable or better than in the US pricewise. There is no excuse for these prices. But, at least there was internet. And remember, this hotel relies on internet booking.

I'd certainly recommend the Le Grimaldi hotel, excellant location, very friendly staff, good breakfast which i'd recommend paying for as you get much more, much cheaper than what you would pay in Nice, parking is close by, expect to pay about 20 euros a day (24hrs in Nice)centre of Nice is only a short walk with excellant restraunts, goto the Voglio? up near the market square very very good Italian food, cyclists, we cycled around Nice Col D'Eze etc good roads good cafe, hotel was more than happy to store the bikes, when we return to Nice we stay at the Le Grimaldi

We requested a non-smoking room but on arrival were shown to a smoking room (it smelt quite stongly of cigarettes). I asked to be moved but the receptionist said the hotel did not have any nonsmoking rooms. This would have influenced my booking had I known this in advance. Also the room safe was broken and was not fixed even though we reported it immediately, so we had to leave our valuables in the cashiers desk. Other minor problems were sorted quickly, with minimum fuss and maximum courtesy.

We were unexpectedly upgraded from a Superior room to a Jr. Suite. This room size qwas ok; can't imagine how small a Superior room would be. Shower stall very small. Water leaked out of door no matter how careful one was. Otherwise nice place. Would stay again if could be sure of upgrade.

Our stay at "Le Grimaldi" was very enjoyable and it helped make our vacation in Nice one of the best my wife and I ever had. The staff is welcoming, helpful, polite and very competent, and I would like to thank them again for making our stay so pleasant. The hotel is situated in an area close to one of the busiest parts of Nice, however the surroundings are very quiet and safe, day and night. We had a very relaxing time and we slept very well. Although there are no "non-smoking" rooms, there was no smell of smoke in the room we received. At about 5 minutes of walking one can find the "zone pietonne" or "walking only" area of the city, where there is an abundance of restaurants and cafés, food and wine stores, an amazing bakery, and tens of boutiques. One can also walk straight to the beach, which takes about 10 minutes to get to. When we go back to Nice, we'll make sure that we stay again at "Le Grimaldi".

This is a lovely boutique hotel with character set a short distance back from the front at Nice. This kept it quiet and ensured a very relaxing stay! The staff at the Grimaldi are excellent and the best I have experienced at any hotel I have stayed at in France. We stayed for 4 nights in a classic room which was immaculate, had plenty of room with everything you'd need for a more than comfortable stay. When in Nice again there is no question this will be first on my list for accommodation.

We stayed here at the time of the Nice Carnival, although that was coincidental. Arrived by car - the receptionist was outside seeing off another couple, and advised us to hold on so we could use the space they left. We ended up parking right by the entrance and being able to leave the car there most of the day. The staff were very helpful throughout, and were well-informed and able to help. The rooms were comfortable, modern, and clean, and the top-floor room overlooking the street was very nice in the sun the next morning. It's in the middle of the city, about 20 minutes' walk from the old town, but only 3 blocks from a pedestrianised shopping street that leads to the main attractions, so not really remote. For price/quality balance, it was excellent.

Before making the reservation in this hotel you should know that your credit card is going to be charged for 1-night directly efter that. The hotel has 2 buildingsand it is better to get a room in the building on Grimaldi street - more luxirous. We were a little bit upset - we get a room in another building - more simple one( with a view to an ordinary yard - almost a view directly to the wall.)The quility of breakfast is not related to it's price ( 15 EUR ) - not value for the money - it seems that management of the hotel would like to save their costs on it... but it is 4-stars hotel - they SHOULD imrpove their breakfasts!!!It is pity but not all waitresses are friendly towards hotel's guests. It seems that one of them ( - the older one) is tied of everything and everyone. Execuse me but I think if you are tied of such kind of jobb - just leave it.
