Hotel Lafayette - Nice

I'm from Vietnam. I spent 3 nights in the hotel, hotel's location's great, some minutes walk from Nice train station, you can easily find bus, tram to any place you want. It is not a place you can find tranquility as it is quite close to the roads but it's only 1 minutes walk to the shopping street. The included breakfast was not good but acceptable. I'm pleased with the hotel.

Hotel Lafayette was ok. The beds were clean although very hard (pillows too). The neighborhood was a little shaky and the room we stayed in could use some paint as well as a good cleaning. The bathroom floor was dirty as well as the room just seeming generally musty. You get what you pay for. Breakfast was average. They did do a load of wash for us for 7 euros! Had to walk up a pretty good flight of stairs to get to check in and our room was right next to the check in desk-a little noisy sometimes.

Great location -- near old city, Promenade des Anglais and Place Massena -- but not noisy. Staff was very friendly and helpful.

This well-located hotel with large rooms and friendly personnel lacks an elevator and good airconditioning

Danish Couple visiting Nice in November 2009. Everything wa absolutely well and the owner George from Scotland was a very well informed og competent guy. The location direct in the City was great. The room (superior) was ok and the breakfast very fine, but mayby a litte to expensive. We will be back. Leif Nielsen & Sanne Wichmann,Denmark

Very enjoyable stay. The parking situation could have been more clearly stated at the outset. Car in Nice is a liability. The staff was very helpful with restaurant and sightseeing recommendations.

Hotel Lafayette is in a FABULOUS location. The rooms are spacious and clean. My only negative comment is regarding the manager who spoke on the phone for 15 mins while we were waiting to check in. Not a great first impression. However, i would certainly recommend this hotel. The rooms and location were great.

Periodo Natalizio: Abbiamo passato una sola notte pagando pochissimo (56 euro) per una matrimoniale...no colazione. Sarebbe stato tutto perfetto se non fosse stato per la location della camera praticamente sul semaforo di una via centrale. Un gran casino ed un rumore pazzesco anche durante la notte. Per il resto, ottimo per posizione, accoglienza e pulizia. Consigliato per brevi soggiorni (causa rumore), sconsigliato per chi cerca il relax.

We stayed two nights at Lafayette. We found the manager (George) to be very welcoming and helpful. His ability to speak English helped us to find out where everything was and his knowledge of the area was excellent. Our room was quite spacious, clean and we had our own balcony. Breakfast was good. The location was only two blocks from the sea and we felt the rates were very reasonable for such a popular tourist destination as Nice. Thanks for everything George.

Good room with new bathroom ; very convenient location. However breakfast extremely poor - very limited range and constantly running out with no-one overseeing the situation. Reception staff varied from warm and helpful to (frankly) apparently indifferent. Overall , average standards.

A pleasant quiet and very central Hotel The bedroom is spacious and comfortable with a good bathroom There is a public sitting area with magazines and books and good access to free internet Staff are very polite and helpful Can feel a little expensive at times but Hotel prices in Nice are higher than elsewhere

This was my 4th stay in Nice and I will stay at this hotel when I come next time. The room was clean and large enough with large bath room. The best thing of this hotel is, as other reviewer said, its location; very close to the old town and especially to the tram station "Massena" which is only a minute or two by walk, it saves time to access to the Gare routieir and train station. I stayed 5 nights and bought 7 days bus&tram ticket, 15 EUR of the pass was really worth paying because of its easy access.

Close to the beach and station. Half an hour from Monaco by train.

We had a beautiful clean room that was surprisingly large. Fantastic modern bathroom - especially the shower, which was hot and had excellent water pressure. Good location just a few blocks away from Old Nice and the beach. Extremely friendly and helpful staff. Overall an excellent experience!

Under new management we were informed Owner very helpful and a good command of english However the hotel was let down with the breakfast very basic maybe it will improve

Very well situated for everything in Nice - although quite a trek from the railway station but this is an easy trip on the tram. Very clean and well appointed. Breakfast OK but a little overpriced. The bedrooms are directly off the reception area which is a little embarassing - especially as our room was immediately by the reception desk! All in all a very good hotel.

OUr second stay. Bst hotel value in urban France. Rooms small but spotless w/plenty of hot water. Staff all eager to please and spk English. Location perfect close to tram, bus stop, shopping and conv to bus stn, old town, and train stn. Thirty steps up tho but really only one flight. If u fly in, buy a one week bus/tram pass for 15 euros PP. Bus 98 fm airport is 4 euros, almost all others to pts within 20 miles are 1 euro but you will use the tram to the bus stn and old town a lot. 1 euro takes you to most towns, including Cannes, St Paul, and Eze Vill. Feel free to email me with req for details on area as we have been there a half doz times. Food & beverages EXPENSIVE (as in $18 US for one beer each in a nearby bistro with karaoke) Eat snacks and takeaway sandwiches unless you are wealthy but the area is great to visit with plenty of things and places to fill a full week. email is daleh@surewest.net I have a room diagram as some face street and are noisy, others face rear courtyard and are very quiet. Free HS internet in lobby. Only about fifteen rooms so seldom anyone waiting for it.
