We book 3 room 2 double rooms and 1 triple room for 7 girls away on a break from work relaxing and just enjoying the resort. All rooms small but clean. Will recommend to anyone and we are booking soon to return next year to same hotel.

If you want a reasonably priced, well located hotel in Nice, La Fontaine is a good choice. One block from the sea, five minutes walk from the Pedestrian area and ten minutes walk from the Old Town. The staff were welcoming and efficient, always ready to provide advice, serve coffee/drinks, etc. While not large, the rooms are adequate and have everything one needs. The only slight downside was the noise from revellers in the street on the Saturday night. Light sleepers might want to think about booking a room facing the courtyard. Bottom line, this was the first time we stayed at La Fontaine and we would do so again if visiting Nice.

Hotel de la Fontaine exceeded our expectations! It is a charming little hotel with a back open-air patio with fountain that was great for an afternoon drink. Breakfast is offered but we left too early to partake of it. The one recommendation I would have for the hotel is to have shower curtains installed in the tub area. There is a hand-held shower but the water pressure is high and water went all over. Other than that, bathrooms were clean and adequate. The desk clerk, Marco, spoke English and was most helpful in getting us oriented. He arranged for two separate vans to the airport at different times early in the morning (which were on time!), and helped us learn our way around the city. He was a definite bonus. Best of all, our rooms (4) were ready when we arrived from our cruise at 9:30 am, and gave us the day to explore NIce and surrounding areas. There is also a luggage storage room if needed. Highly recommended.

The hotel is in a good location one street behind Promenade des Anglais and you will pay less than half the price of a room on the promenade. The room we had was on the third floor with small view of courtyard, there is a small lift, staff were helpful. Didn't eat breakfast at hotel but found lovely place for breakfast, turn left out of hotel opp side of road just before Med hotel, Bar des Chauffeurs. Would recommend this hotel for short stay where you just want clean room and bed for night in good location.

We had a fantastic stay! We had a room off the courtyard which was quiet and beautifully clean. It is located 1 street from the beach and is within easy walking distance to everything in Nice. We would recommend this hotel to anybody.

the staff was both friendly and helpful. location was perfect for both walking to the beach or shopping. the garden side of the hotel was quiet which was perfect for us to get over the jetlag. i will stay again next time i'm lucky enough to be in nice.

Welcoming and helpful reception. Room is quiet and bathroom clean, though the carpet could use an update. Regardless, we enjoyed our stay as the hotel is walking distance to the center and most importantly the beaches.

Excellent location. Staff are friendly, welcoming, helpful, and multilingual. Room was small but very clean and tidy, with big comfortable bed. Extra charge for room safe is slightly annoying, despite being clearly advertised. The free wireless internet was very temperamental and unreliable. Despite these relatively minor issues, would definitely consider staying there again.
Ireland, Jun 2008
Twin room. Cleaned every day. Bathroom a little small - however, would be perfect if they had hooks for the shower head so that it is not hand held. Staff very welcoming at all times.

Only problem was the booking was reserved for my son and partner. On check in I was present and presented credit card and was told i did not have to be there on check out. Wrong! I was quite a distance away when my son went to check out and had to race back to the hotel to confirm payment.Having said that the room was beautiful (No.2) and the touch of choc F1 cars on the bed for the weekend was amazing. Would definitely go back.Breakfast expensive though (15 euros)

In Nice for work I had a small, well appointed, clean and quite room - perfect for me. One road back from the beach and close to the old town, food and shopping. 20 min walk to the central bus station. Staff were excellent (and I speak very little French).

Hotel de la Fontaine was a great hotel to stay in. It was in a great location, one block from the promenade de anglais and 2 from the pedestrian street with lots of shops and restaurants. It was a quick walk to the old part of Nice, and a 5 minute walk from the train station. The room was quiet (request a room on the garden side to avoid street noise) and it was clean. My only complaint is about the size of the room. The queen bed fit in with only about 4 feet on each side, so the suitcases of 2 adults who were traveling for 2 weeks were crammed in there. Not a big deal though, since we didn't spend a lot of time in the room anyway. Overall it was a great stay and I'd stay there again, no question.

Location is great!!! So easy to find. Bus stop of Airoport shuttle (No 98) just in 5 min walk, very convinient. Ticket costs 4 EUR one way.Bus runs every 20 min. Hotel is so clean, has good decor and everyday room service (cleaning) was exelent. Located just in a few steps from the city centre, shopping and eating area, famous Flower Market. Next road leads directly to the Railway station and it's only 10-15 min walk. You can get train to Monaco, Monte-Carlo (return ticket costs about 8EUR and it's 20 min journey), or visit Cannes (40 min ). Trains are very frequent. Good value for money. We'll definitely reccomend this hotel to all our friends who is going to visit French Riviera. There is only one comment. In summer season try to book garden side room - it is not so noisy.

My only compliant was the size of the room. For two people it was small which was OK, but the bathroom was so small, I could hardly turn around in it. Otherwise the stay was excellent. The staff was amazing, all spoke English and were avaliable to answer any question. I wish I could them all a reward, that's how impressed I was with them. I have stayed in several hotels around the world and they were the best!

This is avery conveniently situated hotel. But our room was very excentric, beside the patio it had only thin net curtains. The cupboard for clothes was besides this window and was visible from outside. The bathroom door did not fit properly and often had to be kicked open.Bathroom untiled, obviously not finished. Not 3 star standard. But the patio was charming and we had a pleasant stay nontheless but very basic.

An ideal location, two minutes walk to the Blue Beach where you can hire a sunbed and parasol (by arrangement via the hotel) at a discount. Central for bars, restaurants and shops. The hotel staff were very friendly and helpful. The room was quite compact but with good facilities, very clean and overlooked the courtyard where you can have breakfast

We were originally given the middle room in the patio area at the back. this however entails that you cannot open your window or pull curtains as the people breakfasting outside on the patio can then look in. the room was dark. when we asked to change, we were first told that people always liked that room??? in any case, we got the room changed on the second day and from there on in we had no problems whatever. I would stay there again, but be aware of the patio rooms on the ground floor. they do lack a certain privacy!!

When I arrived there was a power outage in the neighborhood, but the staff were very accomodating in making me comfortable until it was repaired. Great staff, excellent location in Nice. The rooms are a bit rough around the edges (cosmetic) but the hotel and rooms were very clean and friendly.

Hotel De La Fontaine is located on a narrow street one block away and parallel to Promenade des Anglais. The street is full of small stores and other businesses but vehicular traffic is relatively slow and thus not too noisy. In the evening there are dozens of nice outdoor restaurants in the area. The hotel is simple but clean and quiet. My room faced the street but with closed windows there was hardly any noise coming in. Reception desk staff was very friendly and everybody spoke good English. In the morning there is nice breakfast (extra 9 euro if I recall). Location is very good: 1 minute from the sea, about 15 minutes to the train station. You can get to the hotel from the airport by taking bus 98 and getting off by famous Negresco Hotel (2 blocks away from De La Fontaine. Cost 3.5 euro. Taxi for the same trip 30 euro. Overall, it would be hard to complain about anything during my 2 night stay at the hotel.

This hotel is definitely only a 2 star hotel. Very small rooms with very basic furnishings. Our room did not have a shower as requested but a bath with a hand held tap extension. This proved difficult as we both have long hair. The hotel lift can only take one person with luggage as it is very small. Breakfast is available but it is uninspiring and so we ate at a local cafe(and for cheaper). You are required to pay extra for a room safe which is a hefty $13AUD per day. We knew before we booked that tea & coffee facilities were not available in rooms but we took our own jug, cups etc. The good thing about this hotel is that it is in a good location to shops, beach and cafes especially Le Jockey cafe around the corner which had good meals and was a fun place and the lady on the front desk was very nice to us. Nice is quite expensive so I guess you get what you pay for, however we had come from a London hotel (not cheap there either) which was also rated as a 3 star, but in comparison to the Hotel Fontaine it was a 5 star.

Staying at the Hotel De la Fontaine was an excellent experience. It was only an overnight stop, but it had everything we needed- easy access to the airport, near restaurants, but not noisy and very near to the Promenade des Anglaises.

We stayed in 3 hotels while in the Provence area, all in the same price range. We thought this hotel was the nicest of the 3 in terms of location, breakfast offering, staff helpfullness and friendliness, pretty-ness of the rooms, maintenance of the hotel, and room features. We only had some confusion in the booking of the rooms, which is a standard American translation terminology problem I frequently run into when trying to determine if European rooms for two people have two beds or one bed.

The two major problems here were first, the room size. It was TINY!! Secondly, the air conditioner broke the second night of the stay (a Friday) and still wasn't fixed on MONDAY afernoon, when we arranged to stay elsewhere. One of the employees was VERY nice, apologetic and understanding, others not really so nice at all. It was arranged to give us a discount on the nights spent there melting, and cutting the reservations short was not a problem. All in all, this could have been a much better experience!! The nonchalance regarding remedying the problem was unacceptable.

Just to be clear, this is not some quaint little hotel with a beautiful fountain. It is a standard 2-3 star French hotel, which means, unspectacular rooms and a less than interesting lobby, but decent service.

This is a good place to stay while in Nice - very centrally located, clean and cheery. The bathroom - with a huge tub - was a perfect source of relaxation after a long day of walking the city. The front desk receptionist is very helpful, and willing to help with telephone problems, directions to local spots, everything. I will definitely stay here again.
